top five mods for under 500 for your new Tacoma let's go check it out hello everyone welcome to grooves garage thank you for being here today so today I wanted to do a video to talk about what I consider to be the top five modifications to do to your brand new Toyota Tacoma rather you are just starting out or you already have a few modifications in mind these are the five that I recommend and these are going for under a hundred dollars each as of the filming of this video and they're really simple mods but I think they're very handy so let's go check them out all right the first thing I have is the dash top multi-mount from the Taco Garage I love this thing if you're going to be using a lot of accessories on your trucks GPS's cell phones lights cameras whatever you're going to want to look into this thing it is right here all these items are mounted on you can see that metal track under there that sits down in this little channel of your plastic from Factory this one is set up with what they call the mighty magnet which is right here I use that to hold my cell phone that's actually what we did the intro part of this video on it was on there we have my eight gang switch panel for lights mounted a uniball with an adapter for my GoPro camera from where we're getting Trail footage and then the regular phone clamp for the passenger side this thing uses the one inch uniballs and they just screw into these holes there's multiple holes I still actually even have a few open back there you can adjust however you want and then there's an area where you can cut out a notch as you can see there to run wires so you can even run up a phone charger if you wanted that one is for the light switch most people if you see those switches I know this is a little off topic they mount them over here and you can see I'm waiting on my new plastic to come in I had toggles like most people I've swapped it out for the eight switch because I got more lights coming I didn't want to mount down here I thought it was in the way harder to see at night time and that would be modifying that so this one just mounted right to the rail so it'll work for many things even not advertised I do have a full video on that as well as an update video check that out like I said it's from the Taco Garage that's the dash top multi-mount all right our second and third items are gonna be here in the bed so for item number two I have the OEM Toyota bed mat this one is for our six foot bed it came directly from the Toyota Parts Department I do believe I spent about a hundred dollars exactly on it it does have a little Toyota emblem there and a little bit of texturing it has Corner cuts for your factory tie downs it fits around the wheel well nice it has a nice uh rubber texture and grip so stuff doesn't slide around in here as much however it's not so overly aggressive that you can't pull stuff out and it also helps stuff with vibration a little bit back here if you're hauling certain things it has a little bit of texturing on the back to go over top of your factory composite bed and like I said that one is directly from Toyota Idol number three OEM bed lights and there's also tons of companies that make aftermarket ones that fit in the same I'm not necessarily representing the Toyota ones just the inserts there I do not know if these will fit all your third generation Tacomas they obviously fit my 22 and I know they'll also fit for the 23 that have the cutout for the lights I also have an install video on those if you'd like to see how cool thing is from Factory pull your tail light out behind there and there is a pigtail wire already pre-ready so this can be plug and play if your model doesn't have it mine did not come with a factory even with the premium package some people get them and but that is going to be my third item I recommend there's the other one back there it is kind of behind our Cali raised Molly panel but it's still it's light through and cool thing about this the way they're plugged in is your anytime your factory cab light is on rather you have it set to be manual switch or when the doors open and the lights I'm sorry the unlock button is clicked they'll come on so it is nice Lighting in your bed you'll have the cab light and the side lights like I said great illumination for the bed and it's even nice too like if at night time you're in like a parking garage it kind of lights up the surrounding area so that is item three all right item number four that I recommend is going to be a OEM Toyota exhaust tip this one is a little dirty right now it needs polished and I also know the paint peeler is peeling there that has been addressed by Toyota however this one comes in the black chrome and then they also offer the standard Chrome now this doesn't do anything for performance it just cleans up the look a little bit I just think the factory area has a lot to be desired as far as how it looks I think this kind of cleans it up looks nice and that is another part that there's tons of aftermarket companies for and I'm not necessarily recommending the Toyota that's just the one I have but I hang out dresses they appearance up a good bet and for item number five which is going to be the most expensive here is window tint now my factory rear windows were attended with the Privacy glass however I did the front passenger and Driver one I did not go very dark on mine also you might want to consider your local and state laws for window tinting however that is a topic on its own but the reason I put this on the list is for multiple reasons of what window tint can do for you some of the benefits if you don't know is there is the obvious of privacy depending on how dark you go but the main reasons I went with window tint is to help out with the sun that's transmitted through including UV rays that's going to make it easier on your eyes your body for long road trips and it's going to really impact the longevity of your material and inside your vehicle roads the Plastics and Polymers of your dash the leathers and fabrics of your seats and anything you leave in there it will help expand the life of that and then for you guys that are in the warmer areas it also helps with temperature it will keep it a little bit cooler in there so that is number five all right guys and here we got a number six or a bonus item always keep a nice roadside kit maybe a little fire extinguisher medical kit in your vehicle you never know when you're going to need it rather you're broke down outside the road way out on a trail at home in your garage or you're the first one to see something happen on the road it's always good to have a little bit of preparedness equipment and training to go along with it
