hey what's up my friends my name is bill welcome to cars that last on today's video the top five cargo vans that last 300 thousand miles I love studying cars that are currently for sale across the United States it helps me find reliable affordable transportation I wanted to put that information together with you that's what my channel is about now if you've seen some of my other videos I've gotten some feedback from you guys about cars and vans that last a long time and I've actually had a couple requests to put some of this information together maybe you need a cargo van for hauling a lot of things maybe you're in construction Plumbing Heating and Cooling maybe you're a delivery person hopefully this information will help you weed out the lemons that are out there and help you find an affordable reliable cargo van today's viewer ride comes from my UPS delivery driver I had to stop him and ask him how many miles are on his UPS truck it has a total of four hundred and twenty six thousand miles on the odometer original engine and transmission and if you're new to my channel if you like cars that can last a long time that may be affordable and reliable consider hitting that subscribe button below and make sure to click on the Bell to be alerted of new videos coming out so I've got a ton of data coming for you in this video let's get started now coming in at number five is the Ford Transit Connect now this is a smaller cargo van it features a four-cylinder two-point liter motor lease started in 2009 there were two Ford Transit Connect over three hundred thousand miles now I realize that because it's a newer vehicle we're gonna get less and less vehicles above three hundred thousand miles the highest Transit Connect had over three hundred and forty thousand line now because it's lasted more than three hundred thousand miles there are some challenges with the Ford Transit Connect some people have reported good results but other others are finding that the Transit Connect is not the most reliable van the earlier model is 2011 2012 had issues with transmission failures and the 2015 to 2017 models which I'm not actually covering in this video have a ton of issues there was a recall in 2015 through 2017 for the driveshaft separating and the 2016 model had throttle body problems there are a number of these between six to eight thousand dollars with less than a hundred thousand miles consider the four-cylinder if you're looking to save money on gas and from 2009 to 2011 there were total of 68,000 Ford Transit Connect spur deuced so my take on this vehicle it seems to me that there are some reliability issues with this vehicle so coming in at number four was the Ford e350 there were 10 vehicles above 300 thousand miles these ranged in years from 1994 to 2012 the highest mileage was a 1995 with the 7.3 liter Power Stroke diesel it had three hundred and eighty four thousand miles now there are a number of configurations throughout the years on the e 350 it can be anywhere from the 7.3 liter diesel in 2004 to 2010 it switched to the six liter Power Stroke diesel you can also get this in the gas model of the 5.4 v8 which I've seen on other videos that I've done with the Ford f-series pickup trucks these engines have done well there was also one version with a 6.8 liter v10 an older one with a 460 cubic-inch motor v8 and the one six liter turbo diesel power stroke so reliability for these vehicles has been okay in the early 2000s particularly 2002 there is an issue with the spark plugs blowing out that's also a common problem with the Ford f-series pickup trucks you can find the ìiî 50 series right now in the ranges of seven to nine thousand dollars with less than a hundred thousand miles the average mileage was 351 thousand miles van number three is the Dodge Sprinter there were a total of eleven vans now the Dodge Sprinter was produced actually by mercedes-benz it features a 2.5 liter diesel turbo diesel engine the years of these vehicles above 300,000 ranges from only 2004 to 2 that's it the highest mileage had over 500 thousand miles the average was three hundred and ninety five thousand miles now I know a lot of people really like a diesel motor they last a long time there can be some challenges with the diesels a lot of people know about the Mercedes diesels of the 80s they were legendary the Sprinter vehicles from 2004 to 2006 have proven to be fairly reliable however there are some issues with these vehicles remember with diesels you might get a little bit better gas mileage but your fuel is gonna be a little bit more expensive at least here in the United States and oil changes can be more expensive also if you're maintaining your vehicle through the Mercedes dealership that can also be a lot more expensive so try to find a good local mechanic that knows how to service these vehicles if possible now this vehicle is also branded as a Freightliner back in the mid-2000s there was one freight liner that had over three hundred thousand miles but what's really important about these vehicles is they you know in the early 2000s 2000 to 2003 there were a number of problems with the Sprinter vans and in 2007 and beyond there was an addition to the motors to attempt to reduce emissions this is known as death or diesel exhaust fluid fluid was used to help reduce emissions for these vehicles but it ended up causing a lot of problems there are a ton of problems with the Sprinter vans from 2007 and beyond so if you're thinking about buying a Sprinter van of 2007 and beyond make sure to do your homework you know what you're getting into there are numerous numerous problems with these vehicles every once in a while you're gonna find somebody that has not had as many problems but the overall majority there are issues this is one of those vehicles that you could if you wanted at 300 thousand miles you would dump a ton of money into now if your heart set on the Sprinter again 2004 to 2006 have been proven to be the most reliable you can find these models anywhere from eight to ten thousand dollars but they're gonna have more miles they might have less than 150 thousand miles in that price range these diesels do have a higher resale value overall mile per gallon for these can be anywhere from 19 to 23 so even though the fuel is more expensive you might get a little bit better gas mileage vehicle number two is the Chevy Express or the GMC savana there are a total of nine Chevy expresses with more than 300 thousand miles and five GMC savannas now one thing about this information is that I realized I'm combining all of the models available together so where the Ford products there are so many Ford's that I felt like I wanted to separate those it's just how he did it in the video total production for the GMC and Chevy vehicles from 1997 to 2010 was 1.8 million vehicles the vehicle is above 300 thousand miles or from 2000 to 2010 the highest Chevy Express was a 2005 model with the 4.3 liter v6 had over 370 thousand miles the highest GMC savana was a 2006 model the 3500 series with the 6.6 liter Duramax diesel had 397 thousand miles now the total of the 14 vehicles includes a number of configurations there were four 4.3 liter v6 s there were two 5.3 liter v8 that was one 5.7 liter v8 there were three six liter v8 two 4.8 liter v8 and the one 6.6 liter diesel so overall reliability for the Chevy and the GMC have proven to be fairly reliable with no major issues prices for these range from six to nine thousand dollars with less than a hundred thousand miles and the number one vehicle is the forty to fifty there were fourteen vans with more than 300 thousand miles these range from the years 2001 to 2013 nine of these vehicles had the 4.6 liter v8 and five had the 5.4 liter v8 now if you've seen some of my other videos the top five trucks that last 400,000 miles the top five big luxury sedans and the top five cars at last 300,000 miles each one of those videos has the 4.6 liter v8 it has proven itself to be reliable over time you can also get the 4.6 liter v8 in the e 150 there were three of those the highest mileage f250 had four hundred and two thousand miles that had the 5.4 liter v8 the average of all vehicles just three hundred and thirty-four thousand miles for gas mileage the 4.6 is rated about 13 to 18 miles per gallon the 5.4 is rated at 8 to 14 miles per gallon there are a number of these vehicles across the United States from 5 to 8 thousand dollars with less than a hundred thousand miles these vehicles have proven themselves to be fairly reliable what's interesting about the Ford e-series there's approximately 1.3 million of these produced from 1997 to 2010 problems with these in the early 2000s there can be an issue with the spark plugs popping out if you're looking at one of these make sure to have a mechanic check it out before purchase so maybe I should have put the Ford e-150 into this video as well again there were three of those all with the 4.6 liter v8 I did want to try to provide some additional variety in this video in case you're looking at something like the Ford Transit Connect as well but the e 150 has all sort of proven very reliable again the difference between an e 150 and a 250 or 350 is the amount of payload and how strong the frame is if you need a heavier payload consider going with a bigger motor and the bigger frame so overall Ford had 29 vehicles above 300 thousand miles the e 150 to e 250 the e 350 and they didn't have the most production general motors actually had higher production during those years so if you're in the market for one of these vehicles I hope you find this information helpful make sure you have that vehicle checked out by a local Michael mechanic they do exist I will also give you a word of caution as you approach two hundred thousand more miles on these vehicles for the vans in particular there can be more issues with the transmissions so as you get closer to that mark it's a good idea maybe to set aside some money in case you do run into a repair one of the great things I'm experiencing with my youtube channel is you guys give really good feedback as well what's your experience in driving a cargo van I'd love to hear your stories the people that view my videos also read the comments I know you guys
