Too much twist! (for Bonnie)

hey there welcome to will Maven it's Kathy this is a video for Bonnie she was saying she's having trouble with really overspun yarn so let me add quite a bit of twist here see if that does it and see how it's corkscrewing up like that if this is what you've got I would let it go and then kind of pull back your fiber a little bit thinner and let the twist come back to you and if you let me turn this over easy a little bit I see it's twisted clear up through there so just and if you'll notice the first thing I did was stop the tredling that's the first thing you need to do this will come back and loosen up no worries here okay run that on then slowly treadle and draft and if it's getting a if it's getting ahead of you again let me wind it up a bit just stop your wheel draft back make this thinner and then see how the twist follows me towards my body and just draft back again and twist coming towards your body until that looks better so that's all you need to do does my best guess to help you fix what you got but the main one is treadle slower and stop threadling once things get wonky on you the other thing is you'll notice I'm using a pretty thin piece of fiber and I was working off of this this is Merino I just tear a piece and use that and now this is comb top of course it came a big piece like this to me I could draft off the end like this I do not like to do that I much prefer to take a piece pull it apart into links this is about a foot and then split it down the side and work off of this if you don't want to join the pieces as often then take like a three foot piece and make a longer split but if you start with a skinnier piece then when you draft it's already just less fiber to work with so give that a shot and one last minute tip if you're working with a medium wool that probably will go a little easier for you but give that a shot and see how it works Bonnie and let me know what you got good luck
