how the is this only $75 that was literally my reaction after spending some time with the t66 travel backpack from Tom talk and today I'll talk about what I liked what I would change and why this thing actually holds its own against bags over two times the price thanks to some creative features so this bag's made for travel SL weekend trips and that's exactly what I used it for but it also works as an everyday carry here's some stats and right away I can tell you that I don't think this is actually 40 L it feels closer to like 36 37 and you'd think volume measurement is a science but I've noticed that the listed sizings aren't really consistent across any Brands I'll start with the straps because that's the first thing you use each time and they're really nice they're contoured and comfortable with pretty thick padding and they feel like the straps on airs packs after you break them in there's also a chest strap which for me is a must have on travel bags since I packed this pretty heavy and was walking a lot the back panel is also well padded with mesh and air channels both ways and a luggage pass through and this kind of four quadrant design made a difference because it felt like the pack could Bend both ways uh to fit my back which made it pretty comfortable there's also this non patted side handle which I honestly didn't use very much moving to the side both of them look like this with a stretch bottle pocket that can fit a 32 o Hydro Flask and I like that it's made mostly of material with just this strip of mesh to hold it down flat but I do wish the pockets were a little deeper both sides also have two buckles which had a couple of purposes mostly they're compression straps because the bag actually folds pretty flat when I needed it to but I also used it to strap down my water bottle and it helped prot protect the zippers a little bit from being opened and sometimes I just hung things on it like a jacket and Visually I think the buckles make the bag look kind of unique so I dig it on the top there's a padded grab handle and a quick access pocket that's about this large and I use this quick access a lot to put things like a sleeping mask or airpods Chargers stuff that I need to get to pretty quickly and on the front we have a pretty clean look with some recycled fabric both coated and uncoated I'm not sure the exact material but it feels really similar to Cordura recor which is the ballistic nylon that's used on Air's Pro packs tomt also uses Cordura on their other packs but I'm not sure I like the contrasting materials for that little pop of color and there's also a hidden flat pocket that goes between these two buckles where I put things like cables or some papers or some headphones the zippers are YKK with custom zipper pulls that is surprising for a bag at this price I mean most of the construction honestly is surprising for the price now I'll open up the bag and show where Tom talk got a little creative inside the main area there's nothing except for this hard flap which folds down when I kept the bag small or folds up to fit this sidewall to give it some structure in duffel mode and I use it mostly in this mode because again I packed it out a lot for travel and that hard flap also protects the bottom of the bag when I put it down but just for reference here's what the bag looks like completely flat if you use it as more of an everyday bag the main area fits about 36 is L worth of stuff and it works but a few things I would change is to put a lighter color material on the inside so it's easier to see your stuff and to put a zipper pocket up on the top top here there's also a really great laptop compartment that pulls inspiration from the Patagonia mini mlc with a sleeve that opens fully and contains most of the bag's organization on this side there's a 17-in laptop sleeve and a tablet sleeve um both of them with a false bottom to protect from drops and on this side there's just one zior mesh pocket but this bag does one thing that the Patagonia doesn't it has these two red tabs which zip open to actually access the main compartment and it was really weird when I saw it but it kind of made sense after I used it the challenge with some duffel backpacks is that they usually work better as one or the other even though it can technically do both and to me this bag looks like it's a better duffel because in backpack mode access to the main compartment is kind of small here without opening everything and turning it sideways and things like that but those those two little red tabs solve the problem because now I can access the main compartment through the vertical laptop zipper and it opens and works a lot more like a normal [Music] backpack or if you're like me and you usually pack the stuff you need at the bottom of the bag you can just flip this over and access the stuff from the other side without taking everything out and this was to me a really creative and simple solution which also doesn't add weight I haven't seen any other bags do this and it's cool to see on a budget bag from a company that doesn't even really make travel bags it just shows that good ideas can come from anywhere and finally we got to talk price I mentioned the air and Patagonia packs in the video so here's how this one Stacks up against a couple others if I had this ton bag in hand and was asked to guess the price I probably put it at that $1 120ish range so the fact that it's almost half that is mindblowing of course there's no lifetime guarantee like some of the competitors or brand Prestige if you care about that or even many color options but if you're on a budget or looking to just get your first real travel backpack this one would absolutely be my first recommendation it has better backpack straps than almost any convertible duffel I've used great laptop storage and all the essential travel bag features and it honestly has really nice materials as the Channel's grown I've been lucky enough to test some expensive bags but I think videos like these help people the most because price is usually the number one determining Factor so huge kudos to Tom talk for making a highquality well-designed bag and just not charging out the ass for it anyways if you want to learn more about the other travel bags I mentioned here you go and comment below if you want to
