this travel bag I am confident is indeed by far the best backpack for traveling because it's got this this this and this and these are just some of the Small Things geared specifically for flying the primary design decisions which I'm obviously going to share a bit later are what really make it stand out but first how can we even Define best that's easy it's by evaluating against the only five categories that any traveler cares about with their carry-on baggage kicking things off with category one Airline compliance both the 35 and 45 L versions of the packed travel backpack sit within domestic and the more restrictive International Airline carry-on size allowances when it comes to bags looking at website specs never tell the whole story I have never had any issues on multiple international flights with both the V1 and this newer V2 but I don't think you're just going to take my word for it so I went to the airport and ran the international cage test seen at virtually every airport on Earth and even still the larger 45 L travel backpack fits in with room to spare so of course the 35 L would be a non-issue either but what about weight I typically fly two Airlines Air Canada and Eva Air Air Canada has no weight restriction Eva and many other airlines have very restrictive weight limits of just 15 lb or 7 kg this larger 45 L comes in at 42 LB or 2 kg which is lighter than any wheeled luggage marketed as lightweight and the only one that comes even close is the $700 rooa essential light so if you do your due diligence and find out that the airline you are flying with has weight limits a bag is definitely the way to go but one of the main reasons why I made such a bold claim that this is by far the best travel backpack lies in Category 2 storage and organization right off the bat this is a clam shell design so it behaves much like a carry-on luggage with wheels which obviously has much better separation and ease of access compared to digging through a traditional top loader backpack by extension this bag also provides the absolute best protection for a computer the divider on this side of the clam shell is already well padded and as just the first of many many examples of careful design decisions does not reach to the bottom so your laptop is essentially nicely suspended in the middle on the off chance you drop your bag on a hard surface I mean I launched this bag higher than any drop you would experience in any normal circumstances and it's just a full-on 360° pillow for my large and bulky 16-in MacBook Pro the divider on the other side is meshed with a full height zipper compartment but with this version two of the packed travel backpack the main compartment on the right side also features these two strips of webbing enabling compatibility with some optional clip-in pouches that packed makes as well like this waterproof pouch great for toiletries if you are afraid of leaking or a temporary home for a swimsuit that ensures the rest of your bag stays dry after a swim although packed makes a packing Cube set that's perfectly tailored to Tetris nicely into their own backpack I personally have and will continue to mainly use these zipway ones because they have a compression function but again not necessary in fact I know plenty of frequent flyers who use large ziplock bags as their packing cubes for both visibility and waterproofing with the interior out of the way we can now move onto the exterior storage and organization features right off the bat there are three exterior compartments on the front starting from the bottom we have got a compartment which although appears very flat is deceptively cavernous it's the perfect spot for your chargers and cables since in real world use it's a pay to navigate subcompartments and elastics when it comes to a long computer cable unlike this cavernous bottom pocket detailed organization is where this Central compartment comes into play and it's all just further examples of how packed have really thought of everything pen Loop since many airports and countries still require customs and immigrations forms to be filled in by hand large sleeve with a strong magnetic closure great for folded documents without the worry of them slipping out because again of that Central magnet key lanyard even great to store your home keys to set and forget so when you return home after your trip you know exactly where they are although I don't recommend storing passports in such an accessible spot these two Pockets can accommodate some passport wallets and if for example you are traveling with kids you can stack several no problem a smaller front mesh zipper pocket which is a great place to store small needed items like a SIM card removal tool if you plan on getting local Sims everywhere that you go this leads us to the top compartment which is probably my favorite because of how deceptive it is check it out this is in fact a full depth compartment this is so versatile for example if you are going somewhere cold and need to pack a jacket it's the perfect place to fold it large and flat to compress into with rapid access the most useful for me is that it is expandable because most of my trips are for business this compartment can fit a slim messenger laptop bag so you can have a separate briefcase for meetings on the Go Pack also has their 15 L everyday bag available which plays nice with this compartment on both the 35 L and the 45 L travel backpack as you can see sliding into the smaller 35 L one is a non-issue and although this video is not reviewing this everyday bag again for business Travelers you can see that it f fits and protects a large 16-in laptop has tons of storage including this removable water bottle or umbrella caddy and perhaps my absolute favorite element although not padded has two fully removable and customizable straps so you can use both and make it into a day exploration backpack like this or use one and convert it into a cross body sing like this or as a straightup messenger style bag like this on the side of the bag is a pleated elasticized pocket that cleanly tucks flat when not in use but expands like no one's business I don't typically pack a water bottle but when I go to Switzerland because of their unbelievable tap water I bring this gigantic blender bottle and as you can see it fits no problem in here by the way most folks might think what's the big deal water is water false there's a cleanliness freshness and crispness to that Glacier runoff coming out of every tap in Switzerland and once you taste it you just know but beyond a huge bottle if you are into photography a tripod can slide in no problem and best of all to keep the bag looking streamlined and clean there are these hidden integrated straps that can be pulled out anchored on the other side and cinched tight so any taller items you put into this side pocket can be carried without the fear of sliding out last in the way of exterior storage is this TSA security check pocket tucked behind this magnetic padded section is this folded mesh zippered pocket the purpose of this is while you are lining up at airport security to unbutton it open the zipper dump your pockets and jewelry into it and zip it back up before sending it through the X-ray conveyor this means that you you don't have to worry about losing anything or forgetting something small in those bins with organization out of the way we move on to category three which is efficiency and access this is a short but such an underrated category but what I appreciate most is that all Central compartments are accessible from the outside standing the bag up this Central zipper provides access directly to the padded laptop sleeve so for TSA checks it's just a plain efficient when packing storing more frequently accessed items at the top of both compartments means that you can access them straight from the Top If I'm going somewhere that has rain in the forecast when I pack I roll up my rain shell and store it up top so that if it starts downpouring while I'm out exploring I don't have to open the entire bag just unzip grab and go for the ladies who like to touch up their makeup throughout the day packing the makeup bag at the top of one of the two clamshell sides means you can have quick access wherever you are moving on to category 4 of security and durability this is likely one of the most important to you as an individual traveler from a standpoint there are three key elements one all of the zipper pulls are solid Rings which means small locks can comfortably swing through these locks are by no means the most secure things but from a pickpocket or opportunity thief's perspective if this bag is on your back in a crowded place it does not have to be the most difficult to access it just has to be more difficult to access than all the other bags around you second security feature is actually in that hyper organized front Central compartment tucked inside this pocket is a hidden slip shut pocket for for trackers I only have experience with air tags and it'll be tough to see but this very discret pocket within a pocket secures my air tag for worldwide location tracking third security feature bleeds into the durability subcategory and that is in its core exterior material that's both water resistant and made of a robust 500d nylon that's Terr resistant too taking a knife to it you can see that there's no real effect with rapid superficial slashes and it's all really about knives but I use a knife to demonstrate this for General durability and Longevity like rub up against a jagged rock wall to wrap up on durability it's all about the overkill manufacturing with reinforced bar taxs to dramatically strengthen handles and stress points the biggest stress points at both ends of the actual straps are ridiculously reinforced and inspire a ton of confidence but despite all the tremendous organization in Storage security and durability efficiency of access and International Airline compliance none of those matters until we address category five appearance and comfort in real life use appearance-wise this is of course subjective but I will say that in general not standing out in a crowd is a good thing the more eye-catching you are the more of a potential Target you naturally become and this bag is just a bag on your back with the most inconspicuous colors available in forest green ocean blue and black elements that make this bag objectively good-look though are how everything that may not be needed stows away so cleanly like the side pocket cinching straps that invisibly tuck into these sleeves the stability hip belt does the same and even the backpack straps themselves can detach from the bottom and Tuck behind the generous back padding this is great if you decide to check in your bag on your way home if you have something that's not allowed on the airplane as a souvenir since tucking away loose straps is the only way to guarantee your backpack does not get snagged through any of the airport's conveyor system perhaps the most important element of this bag is how comfortable it is to actually carry body contact points are the most important and these straps are a huge improvement from version one with two layers of foam one squishier for contact zones and the other layer stiffer for sheer stability I mean I wish you could feel these through the screen these two narrow straps are load lifters which further take the weight off of your back which is typically the cause of lower back pain as gravity takes its toll and when pulled transfers a significant of stabilized weight to your shoulders it is this feature that allows me to completely feel zero back pain when for example I take motorcycle taxis for very long distances abroad where spine compression comes from both ends the weight of the backpack pushing down and the impact of bumpy roads from below so reducing the load on the back is amazing when the bag is off your back the handles feel nice to carry in hand and although over 95% of my travels I carry just this bag and a sling many people travel with a wheel luggage and like any bag that's marketed as a travel bag this of course also has a luggage pass through but because this is the first travel bag that I have no real complaints with I want to give one away to one of you I am about to tell you how to enter the giveaway but this in-depth look at the categories is all fine and dandy however to see how I use this bag comfortably for a 2E Real World trip abroad for not one but two people sharing this one single backpack you will definitely want to watch this video right up here if you're feeling lucky though this video down here is the one for you I'll leave them both on screen so you have time to choose which one to watch but while you're deciding consider liking subscribing and hitting that Bell so you'll be notified the moment new videos just like this one drop and of course to see how to enter the subscriber giveaway find the entry guidelines link down in the description below
