tom patterson made me cry (unboxing tarantulas)

everyone welcome back to my channel so today we have an unboxing from my friend Tom Patterson I have never actually ordered from Tom Patterson directly a friend of mine has ordered from him a few times and I picked up a few things and his orders but recently I was talking to one of my animal crossing friends and she mentioned that she is from Colombia in which case we started to talk about Palumbi and tarantulas because I have no self-control at all the very next day I asked my friend Tom for his list and I saw the species that we discussed available and I ended up ordering it because again I have no self-control the species that we are going to unbox today is called X and manias this is a very rare beautiful Colombian species as you'll see the carapace is actually a really beautiful bright purple and the mixture males also get purple in their lakes so before I go on too much about it let's just get right into it we are in pack which I think I got a little chilly last night but it's not too bad here all right so what is oh it looks like he's sent too so we have this which I don't know what that is this is the one I ordered what is this we're gonna find out together fam should we start with this mystery spider first or should we let's start with this all right so we are just going to use this for the enclosure I have some jungle mix all right let's get right into this I'm super nervous because I just want to make sure like it came safely the packaging is really nice so this is a really rare species that I never thought I would own but then I saw his list and I just I had to ask oh I see it moving he packed this really good he uses quality paper towels you guys mm-hmm that's probably just easier to do here it is oh it's already coming out I don't want you to go the wrong way oh he sent me the spiciest one I think yeah hi don't want you to run out oh my gosh this thing's trying to make a run for it what did you say nope wrong way yup down down down okay good it's so cute I just want to get the paper towel out so can you just like get down this thing was like ready whew all right we're actually gonna try to speed this one in a second because I think it's so peppy that we should just try to feed it and see if it'll eat I feel like it's gonna have a good feeding response there it is oh my gosh it's so cute and it's gonna look so cool when it's an adult all right so next we have this and I literally like I feel like I should google it so I kind of know what the setup is but then I also feel like it would be more exciting to be a surprise what should I do see oh my god what is it I see a black leg is this what I think it is oh my god I'm gonna cry oh my god I'm gonna cry I'm like shaking because I'm just like oh my god this is oh my gosh you guys you have no I I don't even I'm not even worried about the camera right now Tom thank you so much I'm too excited you guys are probably like what's going on this is what's going on this is a little velvet spider I've asked forever the other species I I thought this looked familiar it is the cutest I need to make an enclosure so I am kind of winging this enclosure we're going to do just a little nice big hunk of cork and we're just gonna do this for now okay so I've I've calmed down and I just want to see this little this little biscuit oh my god [Music] okay so I stopped filming because I ended up handling her for a really long time and it was like really difficult to get her off of me so I am going to lit up this enclosure we're going to feed this new spider and then we'll come back to this and I'm going to probably change its enclosure a little bit so BRB various so now that it's a little busy eating a cricket I can get a better shot of it for you guys this thing is quite make monk look there's my chipmunk wait oh it's blurry yeah this thing is a lot more feisty than I was expecting especially for a sling this size it's nice and damp in here so I think that it'll do pretty good I got some ventilation on the top this is the enclosure I had my OBT and yeah I really like this enclosure and I think this will be really good for it so yeah okay good so that one ate and my velvet spider is thinking about it and yeah okay so now that you have seen the unboxing let's talk about this a little bit I know Tom well enough to know that he's clicked out of the video by now so I'm just gonna say some nice things that I probably would never tell him so tom is a very reputable breeder and vendor and importer and he's really passionate about this hobby he's been in it for a very long time so I actually made this order at myself I didn't this is not sponsored or anything like that and I will link below his Instagram if you guys are interested in finding out what he has available or his list you can contact him on Instagram but like I said tom is a really good friend of mine and it's so like it's it's I can't believe he sent me two velvet spiders so I just kind of want to give a little bit of a backstory on it because I just so like caught off-guard when I opened the box that I just didn't even say like what was going on I've been asking him for a velvet spider for quite a long time I was looking for an ear estuvo this spider is the common name there are several different species within that common name like we know it's like an umbrella term I'm not as familiar with true spiders as he is and yeah he mentioned it quite a while back that he had a few in his personal collection that he wouldn't sell and I've been begging him to sell me them anyway for like a year and he has not budged he I never expected him to budge I've been just hoping and waiting that eventually he would get some velvet spiders available for sale and it's just not happened so although I am very pleased with my XA - and if that's the rare species that I am so fortunate to now have in my collection it was a little bit overshadowed by the velvet spider surprise I'm glad he clicked out of this video by now so he's not like Bar thing anyway I am so happy to finally have one of these like I've looked forever ah every time I find them it's like by the time I hear about it they're sold out so I am just totally blown away thank you so much Tom Patterson she is beautiful I actually have her on my shelf I recently set up like a nice little like Zen display during this like quarantine madness to just kind of put myself in a good mood or a good headspace give some good vibes and I actually displayed her on there with my mantas because she's so special I don't want her tucked away with all my other animals she just needs to be where I can see her since I spent a majority of the day and here and yeah I will keep you guys updated on her for sure as well as my ex and -
