Timber Tech offers several decking planks and a grooved profile allowing you to install your decking with a fastener free surface xlm earth wood evolutions and twin finish are all available in grooved profiles to ensure easy installation of these planks we offer a complete line of concealed lock hidden fasteners and accessories they're available in a retail box that provides one hundred square foot coverage or in a bulk bucket that provides 1,000 square foot coverage all of these items include the screws and driver bits needed for proper installation concealed lock is also available in a gun pail that provides 500 square foot coverage and includes the collated pneumatic screws for use with the tiger claw installation gun we also offer a full line of accessories including a start/stop clip a router bit and concealed lock replacement screws if you do not plan to cover the edges of the planks with fascia but still want to maintain a fastener free deck surface you may want to picture-frame your deck we will be using a solid plank around the perimeter to show you how this is done there are two options to consider when starting your first deck plank face screwing or by using timber Tech's start/stop clip there are several ways to use the start/stop clip depending on your deck design we will be using the start/stop clip by installing the clip on the outside of the joist and overhanging the deck plank by one inch use the three-quarter inch screws provided to attach the start/stop clip to the underside of the deck plank please refer to timber Tech's installation manual for proper spacing requirements then use the Joye screws to install into the rim joist continue installation of the start-stop clips until you are finished with the first row of planks in order to use conceal lock with solid planks you will need to route a groove in the side of the profile for the concealed lock clips set the proper height for the router bit by using a piece of grooved planking now you are ready to route a groove in the first plank over each joist to provide the correct groove needed for concealed lock timber Tech offers a specialized router bit designed to cut the groove and a single pass the router bit is designed to allow you to route the groove over the joist while the board is in place once this step is complete you are ready to begin installing the concealed lock hidden fastener clips before you begin turn the clutch down on your screw gun to not spin out the head of the screw begin installing a concealed lock fastener at each joist and fastened securely with the one-and-a-half inch screw with the board held at a slight angle slide the groove on to the fasteners with a few light taps the board is in place and properly seated against the spacer tab on the clip simply continue this process until you have completed the installation of the last full sized deck plank fasten the last plank using a top lock face fastener or a number eight by two and a half inch stainless steel or high quality coated composite deck screw refer to timber Tech's decking installation guide for the proper gap spacing requirements by temperature conceal lock fasteners are designed to allow angled installation up to 45 degrees installing on an angle is easy when using timber Tech's hidden fastening system when installing planks on an angle offset the clip half an inch by sliding the clip up the joist this will allow for maximum holding power continue this method of installation until all planks are installed if you have access to the underside use the start/stop clip on the last board the same way as you did on the first board for a fastener free deck surface however depending on your deck design it may still be necessary to use top lock face fastening to secure this plank as you can see a timber tech deck installed with the concealed lock system provides a unique attractive addition to any home the clean professional appearance will contribute to years of low-maintenance backyard enjoyment
