morning everyone so in this video we're going to start putting up the bond oh hello puss you want to go in run in there we go yeah in this video we're going to start putting up the barn uh it's pretty exciting it's been a long time coming I've got uh two volunteers coming to help Sam and Ben the people that have been here before and they're really good workers great guys funny good to get along with and uh skilled uh so yeah we're gonna start putting up the three of us just slow and steady winches ropes uh the small tractor the Land Rover and we're just gonna do it piece by piece bit by bit and there's no timelines there's no deadlines we just put it up it goes up when it goes up and we'll try and do it nice and safe so yeah let's get to work relax just rest it down for now and then we'll do it that's it there you go okay good morning everyone so it's a bit of a misty day and that's quite good we're happy about that it won't be too hot we've got a little bit carried away yesterday without filming we've got the rig set up I wanted to mess around with it a bit before I started filming just to make sure that it was all uh all safe we've got it tied off to foundations we've got it bolted into the bucket and we've got it winched back to the Land Rover so that's pretty sturdy and we've got plenty of height so I think we're good we're good to go so first thing we're going to do and just wait for the volunteers we're going to knock this Frame together and we lift it up get it in place something else that happened as well is that I knocked this together this is the exact same tube from the exact same length of pipe as that the bases sit on and then this is the exact same steel plate just an offcut obviously and exact same world of settings and I took this up to my neighbor who's got a 10 ton press and we pressed it is where the Press was there pressed it to maxed it out 10 tons and there was no sign of any movement you could do at least double um so yeah I'm rating them for at least 10 tons which gives us 190 tons for the whole building and yeah more than enough all right first frame going together ready mine's resting on there that's it I'll come around to help you now come that way a bit but then that's going to pull that a little bit okay there we go there we go there we go okay so let's get these rested on here but we get to carry away get it in there first that's it says bottom one first bottom one bottom first slide that in there we go we'll get that by spreading that leg round that's it and then back to me a little bit that's it there okay so now we want to bring these legs in a little bit one two three that's it one two three that's it okay getting somewhere some pegs are really tight and others aren't tight at all you don't need to tap that down all right stop there a sec this um once it starts going past the center I know we're still all right at the moment yeah go a bit further A little nudge that lid that's it keep going I reckon ready one two three that's that'd be plenty yeah yeah keep it going for a bit cool let's go keep it going hope we've got enough height we did measure it yeah back a bit red keeps it going that's it we got the weight yeah the straps went a little bit slack but nothing too major we need to watch that next time right this one's almost on go and keep going one more all right lift it Bend and you might get that gone one more sir we're there we're on right down a little bit not too much how's that that's probably about right there yeah a tiny bit more one click if you can do there you go I'm still floating a bit go on one more click there you go that's a probably I'll say we're good there most of that weight's back down now sorted first frame is up went really smooth and a bit of perspective we've been up there it is a beast and uh solid we got it braced off down to space spikes in the ground and uh braced off over here as well yeah start the next one next we gotta move all the contraption build another frame lift it drop it on uh yeah next section of the frame going up this one's going to be like a f-shaped bit we're going to slot into the others so I'll just show you quickly I was getting a bit of trouble with it looked like the acids in these um in this Timber tannic acid was corroding the galvanization a bit so I've put a rubber barrier between it and the plate um so yeah just to help make them last even longer so yeah we get this section built and then we'll lift it up so the small bits always at the top that's it yeah top Plate's got to come down the loads into the bottom first or whichever way but go all the way in with one first that's it there you go there's none down someone uh need a mallet much more acceptable yeah not too bad they we have opened up a gap here and there because he's been sat outside for a while you know things have started to dry and that does just happen but this is well acceptable for a Big Timber Frame like this thank you so I can move forward uh not yet not yet as soon as we get it up the safer it's gone bad that's it good morning no I'm all right at the minute just keep it going up right because it's going to start easing off every day in a minute right relax there a second lean there so I want to go like that that's it that's it right now back of that way right so now pull your leg we need to get that mid-rail lined up foreign yeah a bit more Sam a bit more yeah that's it stop there stop there all right right Mallet then oh God keep going yeah so give us a bit downwards a little bit down until it touches there you go right we've got uh two two frames up for the day not too bad uh we all started off the day with a really cloudy Misty as you saw and now our sun's out so we've all end up getting sunburned so we're gonna call it a day and we get the other two sections up but we'll have that up tomorrow that wall and we start doing uh joining these uh trusses into the wall plate foreign just get it going up quick yeah balancing points better than it was often yeah we're good boys this is easier than it was last time our struggling it's much easier than last time like a few more turns and we'll just stop for a minute reassess let's go get it a bit further burn if you can back there hang it there for a minute we'll just check everything over right there we go right that's it all right it's starting to go yeah a bit of weight and let's pull on this again there we go there she's going okay are you happy to lift that down and top and yeah go ahead get that down on there that's it good man he's a beast right let's go foreign that's it right A bit down a bit of down Sam it'll go give it a jiggle and a poke there you go hold on hold on wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait a little bit more down wait wait wait there we go foreign and Ben can you kick that leg it's here it wants to Center on the uh there you go that's it um right we've got the last framework we just got a brace it the last minute there where we're doing the Drone that uh mid-rail Tenon was too long it's clashing with the other one it wouldn't squeeze up so let's pull it back out and quickly cut a bit off the Tenon but uh yeah that's that one we'll frame up and it took us two days I think do that with the old lifting Contraption I don't think that's bad going right we've got to uh get set out to do this truss work we need to do here next let's get it off those edges right so we've got our first truss in place and the wall plates the wall Plate's all set out level so now we're just gonna get these notches done we need to do this for five trusses and then we take this all apart again and then we can carry on putting it together so I'm just marking them out and then we'll cut them and then start doing another one good morning everyone it's a new day and we're just carrying on getting these uh trusses done uh we just cut the uh the uh what we call them the feet of the truss that sit in the housings uh we made a little template to do it with the template on a little plywood template I'm sure it's not the way a timber frame would do it but it works for us and it's lined up on our wall plate just right Sam's marking out the pockets and we're going to cut the pockets out and then that'll be another trust done uh three more to do after that hopefully get it done today foreign foreign good work boys getting the hang of it on me all right morning everyone it's a new day and uh just on the last of the seat cuts that need doing those can you see these yeah uh those cuts and me and Ben are about to start lifting this one on and do the pockets for it and there's one more to do after that but that one's mostly cut and done yeah we'll have this done today hopefully and then we'll pack it away and keep erecting the frame so yeah just cutting out these pockets yeah it's a bit of a rainy miserable day today but I can't complain because I've been watching the forecast hoping it was gonna rain for ages it's just a little bit inconvenient that it's decided to do it now but I'm trying to do this when I was in the workshop working on the Water Wheel it was scorching hot but we did need some rain that is good all right you ready then before [Music] so yeah all right filming is a bit of a challenge today you've got this consistent rain which is really good for the land we're pleased about it but uh yeah we're just laying out these purlins and marking and cutting them out Ben's coming along and chipping them chip in the pockets out doing it like this so they're all consistent and any deviations in these which the maximum we've got is about 10 mil are taken out so that one's ready to cut I thought it was going to be a lot worse when I woke up working in this uh weather hasn't been too bad okay morning everyone so it's a bit of a nicer day today we've been battling through in the rain and uh just as we got all that important work done it's cleared up so today's job is going to be to pack all this away now because we just needed to do all that to make it all fit because it was incomplete at this stage um so we've got to pack all that away and we can start assembling again so yeah we'll call that phase one I think it turned out great um if you're anyone's looking at these gaps under here and thinking oh there's a big gap under there well that's by Design and they're there so that the weight isn't on this edge trying to split this because obviously if all the weight was sitting on here we'll be splitting this so we want the weight down on this ledge which it is and then once all this is weighted I'll probably put a couple of Packers under here and fix down as well and so yeah that's supposed to be like that and we've done all of the purlin notches and it all lines up very very nicely see if I can get it to line up here Maybe can't really sell yeah all the uh all the Timbers are nicely in line all the trusses and that way too yeah they all sit very nicely yeah we're very pleased we're gonna pack it all away and uh carry on assembly in the frame yeah we're gonna get to work so I hope you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching
