it's a new setup so how'd you feel being in there how was the um experience for you being there on campia show I'll tell you campia has got a great setup I mean everything right I mean he's the EnV of the industry I see his stuff all the time I'm like God I wish I had that setup you're absolutely right I mean it's it's a good setup he's got all like the the TCH and you know like he's he's I think he just moved everything into the garage um yeah uh but just you know a beautiful house out there he lives you know like an hour outside LA and everything um but uh a beautiful place very jealous right on congrats to John he's doing it right he's living he's living life he's living life he's earned it he's worked really hard over the years to establish that here in this business for sure we'll get there Johnny we'll get there we today all right well we got so much to get into here in the world of entertainment here on the hot M we're going to talk a little uh Quinton Tarantino expose over the movie critic in th we're gonna talk about Jerry Seinfeld's comments about the movie business we're g to talk about Rotten Tomato scores possibly influencing what directors will be getting what projects and how much truth there is in that th breakdown that they did earlier this week again reviews for Challengers baby reindeer which I finished in two days uh thanks to Jeff's recommendation and other people's recommendations I finally finished baby reindeer oh my God what an experience we'll talk about that as well and so many other things but of course the reminder here is streamlabs and super chats are open send in your love send in your support for the show you see the streamlabs address right above Jeff's head it's pinned in the chats in description of the video uh and here we go so let's get it going Jeff let's do our thing here right off the bat let's talk about this Tarantino breakdown this was fascinating expose in The Hollywood Reporter about the movie critic some of the stuff that you kind of speculated was in this article in that Tarantino might be overthinking it really wants to drop this last movie and make it one of his great movies that aligns with the stuff that he want that he did in the past year but also some stuff clarified that we've talked about here on the show for example Paul Walter Hower and according to his Instagram he made it very clear that he says he never took a meeting never met on this had no idea this was happening I think he said he was on the toilet in Brazil somewhere when he got the notification from his agent that he was possibly involved in a Quinton Tarantino mov but he said that never came to be but another one of these things that sticks out of this article is that the $20 million exception that they've gotten from the Hollywood film they have a commission here they have not cancelled it so as far as they officially know at this point this film is still possibly on or another film of Tarantino is possibly on down the road so what stood out to you from this expose what did you find out that was new here or what did you have confirmed for yourself here from this exper I mean to me again it was they did a good job right um they did a good job but it also added to the confusion okay because to me they're saying yeah Paul Walter Houser you know sources say he was never involved and yes Paul went on on Instagram and said as much as well yeah but they're also like but he was also going to shoot a scene in February so that you know uh he could say that yeah we shot something the movies in production essentially pertino was going to shoot a scene in February to not let that $20 million tax credit go to waste right you know so it's like you're you're contradicting yourself in the same paragraph I felt like and that's the thing like obviously th did it due diligence and they have talk to multiple sources but those sources seem to contradict like themselves right I mean th threw out four different premises for the movie yes right the the movie critic one from the 1970s which we heard uh another one where Tarantino was like a younger ver like almost like an Almost Famous type of thing where it's a young Tarantino interacting with people uh and yeah and actors having a meta with a movie within a movie type approach so yeah a lot of uh speculation on what this was suppos and so and it's not like it's th like oh well they threw out four different things you know they're just throwing out throwing it at the wall to see what sticks it's Quenton who had four different ideas right you know what I mean and so that goes back to what I said sort of all along which is that it never really felt like he had a handle on what is the story that he's telling okay it's called the movie critic it's about a movie critic but like what happens to the movie critic what does he get involved in some sort of chenel I don't understand what is the story here and I don't think that Quenton was ever able to crack that yeah see from th's story that that it morphed a lot you know as far as like the casting rumors goes outside of Paul yeah they talked about bringing back a lot of the Stars which lines up with what I'd heard about you know Travolta Kurt Russell yeah people like that that stuff made sense then they totally poo pooed the the Tom Cruz stuff right yes but and like what they what they really hung it on was like well they never met yeah never met the movie but I'm like this is a cameo role why would Quenton Tarantino have to I got to meet with with Tom Cruz to see if he's right for a cameo like it'd be one thing if it was like a real like meaty role or like you know the lead role then I'd understand hey I got I gotta I meet with everybody doesn't matter who you are yeah right but for a [ __ ] Cameo I don't know why he would meet Tom Cruz and he wouldn't have met Tom Cruz if he wasn't sure what kind of movie I'm making and where you're gonna fit into it so I'm you that they definitely talked about the possibility I mean that that's what I was told for sure like Cruz is always wanted to work with him and Cruz is a fountain of Cinema knowledge himself and Tarantino wanted to work with him they nearly worked together before yeah on Once Upon a Time so I just the way that TIR was just like this was kind of total bu [ __ ] I was like okay that's a source saying that it's [ __ ] but I don't know that uh yeah I mean come on meeting like you say you know there are many buffers between a big Superstar like Tom Cruz and Quinton Tarantino so it hadn't gotten to the point where he would definitely necessarily need to meet with Tom but he could have put outfielders out there Tom's people could have responded positively let's look at it when you get it hammered out let's look at the schedule let's see what we can do let's see what the role is but it never got that far so the fact that they were looking at this in 2025 tells you right there that they had a lot more time to figure this out and Hammer this out before they'd even uh a lock down cruise to be a part of it so I agree with you on that end that it was a bit confusing when you look at this thing but the two things that stuck out to me I want to ask you about this uh Olivia wild as possibly Pauline kale now is that rampant wild speculation by th because they weren't saying that that was confirmed they were saying that that's a possibility and David Crum Holtz I'm G tell you this right now I know you've been championing Paul Walter Hower but David Crum holes is my Josh hartnet like I want to see more with David Crum holes coming out of Oppenheimer yes I loved Harnet but crom Holtz is the one I really came out loving and the idea of him leading a Tarantino film is actually kind of interesting if he was the lead who was going to play the film critic I would have bought that for sure and th never said that they like connected the dots and also like did you know like didn't so so you're right they never said that Crum holdz was the movie critic I think that's us kind of reading into it but he would be a great call like especially if you know they weren't going to get Paul Walter Houser especially on the heels of Oppenheimer um uh but then I'm sorry what was the the first part Olivia wild for Pauline kale right Olivia wild it's like so th's first report said that the script was about a woman then it was like well you know there there was a a a female critic or or a character based on paulen kale in one draft of the script okay well how many drafts of the script were there did this charact like you know does did this character fall out was she not a part of it anymore yeah um and they also never connected they never said that she was going to play Pauline Kale like it wasn't clear whether she was reading for the rule or if it was just like like a general meeting with Quenton like a how do you do um again just like it to me again it was a good article but it was a lot of speculation but that speculation looks different coming from The Hollywood Reporter than it does me or Daniel Rickman or whoever yeah for sure and but I think at the end of the day when you walk away from this reading this entire article as you said there are cross purposes there are conflicting stories about what the film was supposed to be but the overall general feeling I get message I get from this article is that this was not lockedown this was very much as you said as you said last week this was very much not cracked he was still working through it and even though he had Stacy Sher lined up he had uh who else Victoria Thomas lined up there who was said to be making some initial Outreach to actors according to the article this was all in the very nassen early stages of this film and there was still much more to work out here and maybe Tarantino saw the writing on the wall saw what was happen as you said last week and was like look it's not going to come together in the way that I would like it to come together it does I don't feel inspired to do it and so now we have a $20 million film uh uh commission amount that's that's set aside that we're wondering where that's going to go and now you have some idea now you have the thing is it all the way back to the drawing board or is there is there another idea he was working on that he pulls out I don't know I mean it sounds like it's back to the drawing board but you're right like he does have a whole drawer full of abandoned projects and he may want to revisit is it something do I think it's going to be Star Trek no right you know that's not what he's no way looking to go out on I do think it could be a personal thing jimie had a really good idea about doing like his own fabl men's kind of thing about you know being the child of a single mother really or just growing up in front of the you know yeah in at the movie theater basically um but yeah he could he could do one of those meta type of movies or revisit past characters I still think the a jewles movie a followup to the you know to because to me again Sam Jackson is his Muse right right more so than Leo and Brad but Leo and Brad will also get him the financing the sort of blank check that I think he's also after well Sam might be I mean that could be like a Jackie Brown type of vibe you know where you focus on one character and make it a very character-driven type of film as opposed to something like what you'd see in in even though he was in reserv dogs it might be a different approach because remember he was going to walk the earth as as juel said you know like Kung and stuff so it would be a completely different type of movie than what we've seen before recently from him so it could be interesting to go that route with Sam although I think he's a bit older than the tooth might not make might not get as many butts and seeds even with Quinton Tarantino's name name attached to it so I just wonder as you said the financing and where that's all going to come from and who's going to really be the movie star to be a part of this although we'd love I'd love to see the juwels film I don't know that that might be his last one if you can it's like if you can surround that character like you know if you're and a Hitman essentially you got you got a boss and you got a Target and that boss could be DiCaprio and the target could be Brad Pit you got a partner a new partner because is not around maybe Brad Pit's the new partner you know I I think that there are opportunities to cast a listers around Sam Jackson not he's not not that he's not an AER himself considered he's probably the highest grossing movie star in the history of cinema right um but anyways uh he rarely LED any of those movies but yes I know I know but he still takes the credit I remember the article where he he knocked off was it Harrison Ford or Tom Hanks or something yeah I it was again it was a good piece uh you know trr backed up my reporting about Sony it sounded like you know there was never any formal announcement but they they certainly had a sort of handshake deal and it sounds like whatever Tarantino does decide on for number 10 is GNA wind up at Sony as well like he's just you know found a uh a kinship or whatever with Tom Rothman yeah I'd be curious to see how this all it'll be curious to see how this all turns out because now going back to square that sets everything back and I think it might be I think it would be crazy if he never does the 10th film that would be a way to add to the legend the missing 10th film kind of like Wells right Wells was working on the other side of the wind before he died and that was going to be supposedly his Masterpiece Opus back and they did a version of it that's up on Netflix you can watch but you can tell it's not fully Wells fleshed out it would be so interesting that he never does it he comes close he thinks about it like maybe even shoots some footage but never does it it would add to the lore and legend of Tarantino unexpectedly passes away that makes seem even more of a [ __ ] Legend I've talked to people who who think he should just retire right now and say once upon like I'm going out on top Once Upon a Time in holid is my 10th film and I'm now considering Kill Bill to be two movies yeah Mike drop see you guys peace yeah because then it'd be crazy people would have to have all these feelings about it for sure um all right so we'll see what happens with that and we'll keep Tapp on it but I wanted to follow up because Jeff and I have been following the story for a bit on the show and now it seems like it's wrapped up for now and then at some point down the road he'll announce what he's working on next and we'll cover it then let's move on to a smaller story here man je Jennifer Aniston you reported in this in the ins Snider uh rebooting nine to-5 that great 80s comedy with Dolly Parton Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda and the great and underappreciated Dabney Coleman by the way in that movie so Jeff this is interesting you mentioned that Diablo Cody is working on the latest draft of this and plot details are being kept Under Wraps are we going back to the well where it's a sexist boss with three women or as we saw with horrible bosses are they turning the table a little bit where it's a woman being the boss who is abusing guys or abusing women under her and all that like what what what is the approach here that you might be sensing from some of the conversations or stuff that you've heard I don't know I know that my sources were careful not to call it a remake that they felt reimagining was the more appropriate term so maybe there's only two leads this time maybe there are four leads like it doesn't necessarily have to be three women yeah um I saw you know I had missed this but I guess 22 years ago um Will Smith was developing a nine-to-five remake for uh for Jada so it was going to be a movie that starred all all black women yeah um which I think would actually be an interesting approach doing like uh you know women of color and what they sort of face the in the workplace but no I I can't imagine they're going to gender flip anything this feels like a movie that should be about a group of women two three four whatever it is yeah uh yeah getting getting revenge on a a sexist bigot of a boss she's not that successful in movies do you anticipate that she's got like the magic tou touch to bring this to life do you sense that this will happen like I I know Diablo Diablo is a really good writer um and I heard the script was I heard that the studio liked the script I mean um but it's been an open directing assignment for a little while like they've been trying to put a director on it I don't know if they're going to try to hire a female director or what um and I don't know if Jennifer Anderson would be would have a role in it either I don't I don't know um if she'd be one of the three leads or if they're goingon to go a bit younger you know she just wants to produce but I'm sure that if you're Jennifer Aniston you're looking across that anchor desk yeah at Reese Witherspoon right yeah on the morning show and say and looking and seeing this woman has built an Empire at at hello sunshine and you know there's no reason I can't do that at Echo films yeah and see if you can make that happen for sure uh yeah I'm I'm curious though I mean nowadays and I'm not in any way saying she shouldn't make the film but you know nowadays Jeff there's all this push back on you know the sexism and the anti-woke stuff and we're about to get into Harvey Weinstein's conviction being overturned to what that might mean so this idea that she is it just feels like maybe a year or two too late is that I feel like there The Tide is turned and there's anger in the streets on this stuff and I don't know if it would be received quite as as um I don't know excitedly as maybe it would have been a few years ago I don't know am I wrong to feel this way you know it's interesting with the winstein stuff right because someone like what about a a story in which the boss is someone who's already been cancelled quote unquote yeah and comes back right and pretends to be this rehabilitated guy right but like they really know that he hasn't changed at all he's fooled everybody who have leted him back in their good graces and given him a second chance and they have to reexpose him like that would kind of be interesting because you're right that that you there there's the initial cancellation but then these people aren't ever really cancelled and now you know hope hopefully wein will still be behind mes for a long long time yeah they're even saying now that the that the LA conviction is is vulnerable because of the New York appeal yeah so well we'll see what happens with that we'll see what more stories come out for 95 and I'm sure you guys want to follow more of that you can go to the ins Snider and sign up for his newsletter there on that we'll have more of your stories coming up but let's move on to the Harvey Weinstein here uh Jeff list of the story here so his conviction for those you may not have may be under a rock today but Harvey Weinstein's conviction in New York because he was convicted in La as well but in New York his conviction was over Turn 4 to3 this morning by New York's highest court the only Court above New York's High court at this point is a state court it'll go to Federal Court which would be the Supreme Court possibly if they wanted to push this but they overturned the conviction with which Carvey Weinstein is in jail right now in New York they claim that Justice James Burke made a critical error when he let prosecutors call as Witnesses several women who testified including actress Annabella shora that Mr Weinstein had assaulted them even though none of those allegations had led to charges they were called the Molen now Witnesses now a hastily put together press conference was had there with Ashley Jud calling this verdict out the three justices who voted to keep the conviction on record were quite adamant and angry at the four justices who were overturning it so pretty controversial overturning it wasn't a case and now as you said the the LA conviction now might be in a little bit of Jeopardy because those moleno Witnesses were also used different women but were also used in to convict him in LA and that's for 16 years that conviction so Jeff your thoughts on this and what's your reaction to this shocking development I mean I was very stunned to see har when I opened up you know uh my email this morning and and started going through the trades and saw Harvey's face and that I was like wait what huh um I mean listen I don't think this guy's in danger of going anywhere even if the LA gets you know overturned right then they just do a new trial yeah yeah yeah they just run back the witnesses that they can and I mean this guy is obviously [ __ ] guilty of sin um he's a monster but uh but yeah I I understand that things had to be done the right way and and you know there is a loophole that his legal team has you know uh taken advantage of and I'm just glad obviously that they went to the trouble of trying him in Los Angeles so that you know when something like this happened maybe it was inevitable maybe it wasn't but uh yeah they they they've got a backup plan yeah this is a this is a terrible development and I think it sends a horrible message because now you're going to get these women to come back and they have to relive this trauma again how many are of them are going to want to do that this is what his defense is counting on they're in essence abusing these women mentally yet again almost sexually assaulting them yet again by putting them through this nonsense simply because they wanted to use witnesses that established the character and the pattern of his abuse and sexual harassment and this was allowed by the judge and the Supreme the court overturned the conviction claiming that this was prejudicial to him as a defendant so you can bring character witnesses that kiss your ass but you can't bring character witnesses that establish a pattern of your behavior here I think that's the frustrating part of this whole situation because the charges from those people were never officially put on the docket for the molo Witnesses they felt that that was prejudicial La is a bit more lenient with that so it may be slightly in trouble but it doesn't seem like it's eminently in trouble that being said they're speculating that if he was to go to LA he would be moved to Rikers first and then eventually to LA to serve his 16year sentence which is what he was convicted of but the da there in New York Alvin Bragg has already committed to retrying him so as you said he's not going anywhere he's gonna be walking free to harass and assault other women he is going to stay in prison and then they're going to retry him I think what the defense is counting on is that these women won't want to come back and I just think it sends a terrible message to women who already have to suffer the stigma of coming forward I mean that fifth episode of baby reindeer or fourth episode of baby reindeer Jeff that is one of the most horrific things I've ever witnessed and I'm watching it as manto man I can only imagine man to woman how that situation developed so to have this be a part of our pop culture Zee conversation yet again when we thought it was put away is so frustrating because the same thing happened with Cosby it's like what the [ __ ] do you have to do at some point to finally be put away for the rest of your [ __ ] life for this Behavior I don't know just throwing it out there um all right and do you think this do you think this though is um will there be repercussions of this do you think there are now people feeling like Executives who might be in these positions who were maybe more aware or more careful do you think now they're starting they might feel they could do this Behavior again or flout this kind of behavior again or do you think this is just an isolated thing it'll because I mean me too no I don't I don't think so because no matter even if Harvey got off right even if he got out his name is tarnished I mean he he true um so no I I don't think that anyone is feeling empowered to go out and uh you know commit crimes because of of this I think this is just a failure of the justice system and it shows the limitations of the justice system and um it's frustrating very very and you're right I I can't imagine having to ret testify after thinking that all of this was behind you yeah yeah um let's talk about one thing before we go to the break that's the Deadpool wolverine trailers since dropped a few days ago Jeff any thoughts on it it was pretty massive response from the trailer uh we got to see so much in dead in this trailer for of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine more of the story more of what they might be going through um any thoughts on this what did you feel about the trailer did you like it did it excite you at all uh yeah I thought the trailer looked good I mean I think that it's going to be fun to see the two of them together and uh you know poking fun of the MCU and Disney and and all that kind of stuff I mean could it end up being very obnoxious just like the other two movies yeah it it certainly could but um I don't know I think that you that Hugh Jackman will provide a enough balance where you know it it it works better for me than those first two movies did what about Emma Korn did you like seeing her seeing them in this were you excited by that does that move the needle in any way for you at all no did not did nothing for me okay bar barely even like you know registered yeah well I mean I'm looking at the numbers on it right 10 million views on Marvel entertainment the first one got 29 million views now again it's only just 10 million views but like I expected higher numbers this many so do you think it's just the matter of people are already settled they're gonna go see this or do you think there's really a kind of push back against Marvel and maybe this film won't do as powerfully as they expected to I mean I'm not going to compare TR trailer numbers and that kind of thing I know you hate that but I do think that expresses interest I I don't I don't think there's any correlation um yeah uh I think it's going to do well but yeah I don't know that it's like the savior of the summer that some people are counting on it as I think it could maybe underperform a little bit again it's there's a new normal yeah so I think for it to even reach the heights of the first two movies it'll that'll mean it's performing very well I know that Marvel would love you know to see this gross a billion dollars I don't know if that's in the cards but I don't see this like flopping either I think it's going to be in the top three for sure oh okay fair point oh Morgan says Ryan Reynolds has 28 million on his view oh okay well yeah that's trailers are all over the Internet it's like how do you even it fair point all well let's take a quick break Jee we'll jump into some more stuff I don't know I don't have a small story to do just yet so let's uh let's jump into a quick uh break when we come back we'll get in some more uh bigger stories here and uh hit some of your Scoops that you had on the insid of this week and we'll talk we'll talk all that right after this all right let's get back at it Jeff uh before we jump forward where can people subscribe to uh read all your stuff on the newsletter the insider.com we've had some good breaks this week guys Mikel be Jordan Jennifer andon producing some new movies I got some other goodies coming stay tuned there you go as for here on the outlaw Nation Channel remember to subscribe down below and hit that Bell button so you see when we're dropping all the stuff we do here on the on the outlaw Nation all right let's get into this other uh story here Jee this Rotten Tomato score story that popped up in th tell me man how much of this do you give CR CED cred Credence to how much of this is [ __ ] how much of this is real the basic TR uh uh message coming out of this article for those who didn't read it is that they're claiming that studios are looking at Rotten Tomato scores to decide on directors who they're going to hire for projects and that it's harder and harder for directors who aren't writer directors to gland some of these mo more coveted uh uh positions because of what's happening on Wall Street the financial situation and the strikes kind of constricting the industry and having less and less uh projects for people to direct so what were your thoughts coming out of this how much of it was real how much of it wasn't true I thought it was ridiculous okay it made my head it made my head spin because I also just don't in addition to me thinking like well that is a ridiculous way of of hiring people and doing business I just don't think it's true okay and I asked some people today about it and they said no execs are not looking at those scores so again this is just one person who the hollyood reporter spoke to who because it's the hollyood reporter they give him this great you know weight whereas the person I spoke to who said exec don't look at scores that's not going to go viral like like this quote did and it went viral because obviously I think it pissed a lot of people off first of all it gives critics a huge head critics if you think you have any say in who is getting hired on these movies you got another thing coming I why are they looking at the I mean an indicated the critical score right why aren they looking at the audience score since like they're the ones buying tickets don't you want to keep hiring the people who put the butts in the seats you know and satisfy audiences I mean critics I just think critics are terrible these days days I mean there's movies I've been watching with like super high Rotten Tomato scores where I'm like how did this happen and then not to mention who is deciding what the score is it's not even the critic thems it is some guy some [ __ ] Spectre at Rotten Tomatoes who decides was this a rotten review or was this a a fresh review and you've seen directors like Paul Shrader who are like you know they they've gone line by line and said oh this you know this is marked as rotten but to me it reads as fresh well you as a member of the Rotten Tomatoes uh critic sphere you decide if your review is rotten or fresh and then they Co it so like when I submit my review which is only 255 characters that's all I'm allowed to use uh I say if it's fresh or rotten and I give it a score is that new is that always the way it was done though John because I I'm I could have sworn that other critics in the past used to say I don't even get to control whether it's rotten or or fresh well lot what they don't get to control is the overall judgment but they get to control their reviews so like what I'm saying to you is I submit my review I've been doing this for three years now I submit my review and I say fresh or rotten now who Cates that and decides overall if a film is fresh or rotten that's what you're talking about there's someone who does the numbers figures out what where where it Li lies in terms of if it crosses the line to be considered fresh or it doesn't cross the line to be considered rotten that's the difference there but fair enough well then that's how it's done yeah that's how it's done then I apologize but to me rot toand is terrible for the critical Community because no one cares about the individual critics they just care what is your Collective score right and so people used to have a connection with critics they used to trust a critic's taste or at least even get not even trust it get to know a critic's taste and now they don't even do that really um so I agree with a lot of I think there's a lot of sentiment around town that is anti Tomatoes I don't understand what this pushes L for Rotten Tomatoes in the media if you look at Scott feinberg's latest Emmy forecast like you know his predictions it now says what the critic and audience score is after each title I mean it not only does it make the article practically like unreadable because it just there's way too much [ __ ] going on but it's like since when did the H reporter care about this this wasn't in any past predictions this is the way it's working Jeff the big people as you said the Phantom people who own these places are get into Cahoots with each other and the studios are very happy about this because the studios now can control more of the narrative around their movies than they ever did before so you want to [ __ ] on the critics all you want Jeff but I would argue these critics are so [ __ ] necessary because they're not being bought by Pensky media they're not being bought their points of views are not being bought because they're making $100,000 a year at a particular Outlet they're not being bought now does it mean all critics are no no of of course not but you've got to do your hunting you've got to see the independent critics who are out there who sometimes are the lone voice in the wilderness trying to make people understand that this has been fabricated by the studios controlled by the studios curated why do you think influencers are showing up a red carpet more more showing up at these they get on the [ __ ] Tomato Meter basically exactly and Studios want that to happen so these Studios being mad about run tomato I think is an Unfaithful [ __ ] no but like look at Ed's Ed's comment yeah you can only see um two two uh critics reviews on the on the movie page now right it's like they don't wanna they're not there to Showcase reviews if they could like say we're not going to link to any Critic reviews and you're not even gonna get your name you know in the list of critics if we just give out a score based on what you tell us that's what they would prefer they would prefer not to shine a light on the reviews because and you can just tell look at like who they hire on the editorial side I mean they people just love everything come on um that's what I that's what I'm saying to you I know Fango Rotten Tomatoes all these things exist to sell movie tickets I don't understand that how can you be a Critic working for an outlet that sells movie tickets to movies and really be taking I don't know I don't I don't want to say anything negative but I just want to say like how if your job is to sell movie tickets your Outlets or your business sells movie tickets and you're a movie reviewer on that outlet isn't that cross-purposes how how how anxious are you to say anything negative about a movie when you want the the the service to sell tickets to the movies it's it's a very confusing cross- purposes type of thing and and it's fine for them to do that job for people to do that job and stuff like that but it's like it's the audience that conflates the two of us right it's like Eric Davis and I look a lot alike but we do very different things right Eric does great what he does he does a great job with way exactly I love Eric I have nothing bad to say about him but like do I expect him to go off on a movie that he hates no right right but that's why I'm telling you that's why I think your narrative sometimes is dangerous to say oh critics critics this critics that critics are necessary so [ __ ] necessary so we all don't be bought we don't have to buy into the group think of a movie because a studio wants it to make money that's all I see out there is group think these days really it's it's is it okay for me to like this movie or oh everyone in my community hates it so there must be something wrong with me I don't want to be seen you know I don't want to get called out and get hate mail so I'm just going to go with the crowd that's what I see yeah I've seen that too it's frustrating and it doesn't help when some of these fans like Captain penis over here not that he has done this but some of the fans who think like Captain penis sell send death threats to some of these critics simply because they're commenting on a movie that they like that's the kind of unhinged nonsense that critics sometimes have to deal with as well Jeff so frustrating I can't believe some of the stuff that critics like and I can't believe some of the stuff that critics hate I just think everyone has bad taste I'm there's very few people I trust that's fair but there are critics out there look I I am in no way in the league with any of the big time critics of ever walk but I give you my honest opinion I ne I've never been bought I never just kind of massage a point of view I mean the James Juan review I did for Aquaman when I called it color by numbers type of film making I got so much [ __ ] for that but it's what I do I like to stay independent and I'm I look for critics who are independent who are not like indiewire a lot of the times I like their reviews I think they find they fall on that on that place sometimes vulture I think does a nice job with some of their reviews as well being really incisive the New Yorker I like those reviews that are actually goingon to take stuff down and take it nitty take into get into the nitty-gritty and show you exactly why something is wrong so but there are there are people there there are listen I'm not a great movie r i I have I think I have good taste and stuff but I'm not like the best critic out there there good tast it's your taste I'm saying there are a lot of great critics out there who write really well and I think that they have [ __ ] taste oh okay like to me that is Paramount to I can write a beautiful review that's full of insight I'd rather get less insight and a [ __ ] opinion because I read some of these reviews now and you're like I don't even know what you thought this was like a beautiful essay that I could never have written but like did you like it did you not like should I see it that is the role of the critic I agree 100% And I'm I'm changing on that because I've been I've been in this place where for a long time I was like well I don't want to tell you not to go see something but in my mind I'm starting to change in that well no I think I need to embrace that and say don't go see this movie it's a waste of your time these are these kinds of things that I'm starting to change in my mind about how I approach criticism and what have you and the and the other part of it with the media because there's like bad criticism and there stuff and then there's just like this other wave that don't understand with articles that are like an Hathaway is Mother you are mother now an Hathaway like when does the media start talking like this yeah well when they hire younger people to write like this that's F wild Yeah well yeah because look celebrity culture has always been around je and you know this decades and decades generations and generations of celebrity culture it is what this town is built on these fabricated narratives most of the time by publicists and PR people Hard Scrabble life and had to do this and had to do that and had to come through the system and fought against this and fought against that and it's like well I mean let's explore this a little more no no we can't explore this a little more because if you don't interview her in this way you're not going to get to interview my bigger client in that way or if you don't interview my big client this way we're not GNA come back and get you clicks so just it's the constant Narrative of celebrity culture and people fawning over people it becomes overwhelming ly nauseous after a while man just just do the work man and let us Judge for You Through the work but these puff pieces are out of control I agree with you you know I'm I'm even okay with the occasional puff piece I've been trying to write one myself which is basically what upand Comer of the month is right you know it's not you're highlighting someone to say like look for this person in the future I don't know if that's a puff piece man I'm I'm going public with this complaint right now because it's really pissing me off okay for like two weeks ever since I like in the middle of baby reind okay I go who is this actress playing Terry the trans actress she's fantastic her name is Nava ma have you read anything about her John yeah I did a research on her she's out of Texas she is a trans actress she's written and directed her own stuff a pretty good talent yeah I haven't read a lot about her okay everything that I'm reading is about Richard Gad the star or or you know the the Jessica gunning or whatever and I'm just like I'm trying to interview Nava Ma and can't get a response and it's like if I was seeing profiles of her all over the place right you know that'd be one thing I get it who who am I but it's like if every like this is how I got Paul Walter Hower back in the day it's like if everyone's writing about Margot Robbie and how great she is or Alison jany like there's this third or fourth lead who gets no attention because you know the shows you can't write three or four articles about every show you usually get one or two and it's usually about the star or the Creator right I mean I'm just I'm I'm baffled that I cannot get a reply on an interview is what because I have a subscription newsletter not a website I don't know but uh if I was an I'd be looking for new representation that's weird too because well maybe she doesn't want to come out and talk about it maybe she just maybe she's a introvert she's not that's her too respond and say you know what we thought about it respectfully we're gonna decline thanks Jeff we get you on the next one like that's a fair point where's who leaves me high and dry because it's like if I find out what that girl's doing next it's going straight on the internet I'm not even going to call her team oh yeah Oh you mean going to break the news right on absolutely she's and that's why I wanted her to be up andc the munch on because she's going to book so much stuff oh yeah okay because there are so many more trans roles being written these days yeah and people are like well who do I cast you know like where's the trans uh talent I know it's out there but they don't want to have to go looking for it it has to be put in their face yeah and and she was excellent on that show well it's like Lily Gladstone in killers of the flly moon right she'd been working for quite some time kind of under the radar gets that and now she's got a series on Hulu she's got more coming with rley ke she's got more coming down the pike it's about getting that Focus that attention and we'll see what happens from there I do want to ask you one last thing about this article before we leave it here this I thought this part I want to get your thoughts on this insiders also lement a lack of turnover at the highest echelons of the studio system Michael duuke at 29 was running new line and breaking young and exciting filmmakers like PTA he then headed MGM and now he leads Warner so do you think that is an issue at the risk of maybe Michael Duca seeing this do you think this is an issue that a lot of these people who were already in positions of power when they were younger are still in this positions of power so some directors who have maybe not their cup of tea but could be super uber talented aren't getting the opportunities because it's the same people over and over again at these positions of power yes it is and now and it's like it's hard for me to I don't want to like be agist because I want Jerry brookheimer to keep making movies I want Brian graser to keep making movies these guys make good [ __ ] movies right but yeah when they make a movie they're taking up a slot from some 25y old 30-y old filmmaker like like they used to be right in the in the 80s coming up you know like that guy's that that 30 or 40-year-old producer now is not getting that slot because these 70 and 80y olds are still around right um you know say like with Duca someone took a a chance on Duca right obviously 29 years old guy's a natural born executive yeah yeah someone obviously you know saw something in him as a young man and gave him that opportunity doesn't matter if they see something in you these days you're not getting that opportunity anymore particularly as a young man yeah I feel like right they you know you're more likely I feel like to get promoted as a as a young woman um uh because they need more of those execs and stuff like that in executive side of things yeah if you're if you're a white guy who's like been kind of grandfathered in that's one thing you'll keep getting hired over and over but like I don't see a lot like a hunger for the new we need to get the new white guys in here you know they're not getting new anybody in there but um you know I I see I I do think that's a problem John yeah it's a lack of fresh blood that's what I look at yeah because I mean the the article also goes on to speculate that this approach to hiring filmmakers is going to adversely affect women and people of color getting more and more opportunities because it's the same old white dudes in these positions of power at these Studios who are making these decisions sometimes about directors so how Keen are they to take chances and especially when something like you see just now with um with the Marvels right you bring in uh Nia dasta you give her this opportunity but then you kind of uh undercut her and uh sabotage the film at times and then at the end of the day you go we can't hire her because the film didn't do well she's the one that pays the price not the studio not the executives not the interfering Executives it's the director so you black female director so it does get a little frustrating when you see this kind of stuff and you wonder at what point it it the Dam breaks with all of this stuff because the numbers aren't getting better no matter how much people are black lives matter protesting in the streets talking about diversity the numbers are not getting better The anenberg Institute makes it very clear every year the numbers are not getting that better so I don't know what's going on in these places did you see that article where it was like Hollywood leaves like 30 billion or something some yeah some absurd number on the table yeah but like that's I mean that's that's [ __ ] right because Hollywood only makes like you know at least on the film side what 10 11 billion dollars a year yeah yeah yeah yeah so it was there to catch your attention but you're right Jeff because what that what that implies is that all these people would show up for these movies and I'd like to show you the in the Heights box office I'd like to show you the Westside Story box office it's [ __ ] it's exactly and and I've said now I don't think that um the people of color of women uh should pay the price for this I mean they they may very well um but it is going to be stories right stories and stuff yes it will be those kinds of stories um so it's like when I see yvon orgy who like is very talented she was on insecure right she plays Isa isa's best friend very talented actress but like she announced some project this week that was like about some immigrant from Ghana and it was like this is an announcement I would have read four years ago like they're they're pushing back on this stff I was surprised to see that kind of thing because I'm just like who is this for who who is going to watch this I don't know but they're trying who who watched the Underground Railroad now that obviously is a different thing a big series from Barry jenin but like nobody watched that people want to watch TV and be entertained they you know you and I are always going to disagree on this I don't I think TV people do watch TV to be educated as well as entertained uh in different ways so I think there's enough room for both it just depends as you said on the story and who knows that film will come out you might [ __ ] love it you just never know I just I think I wrote like I doubt this will ever get made like it just felt like one of these things that like she wants to do it but like do I really see a room full of Executives excited about this depends I guess depends on the on the studio uh speaking of white filmmakers let's move on to Zach SN here brother because I finally got a chance to watch Rebel Moon part two today yeah that's not a good one I have to admit uh I think people who were complaining about the slow motion harvesting they're a bunch of babies what's really funny is the people playing the violin through all the deaths that are happening in the mo in the opening of the movie but overall listen a lot of people were saying this week that Snyder is dead that he's not gonna be I saw I think I saw Rickman saying that he's that Netflix is done with doing stuff with Zack Snider but when you look at the Zack Snider numbers here yes 15% uh with the Rotten Tomato score but it was watched it was the number one film was the biggest film for the week of April 15th of the 21st which just a couple days ago it was watched for 44.2 million hours based on its two-hour runtime which translates to about 21.4 million hours and it reached the Netflix's top 10 in 92 countries and even yanked the prequel into the number five ranking on the list here and overall Snider's three consecutive movies have been number one on Netflix and uh part one was the top movie globally and then in 2023 with 23.9 million viewers and it was again number one the following week with 34 million viewers so complain about him all you want or claim that he's dead at Netflix and complain about the Rotten Tomato scores but with these numbers can't he does he not does he not have cache at Netflix still I don't think so no not for not for the budget um that's fair that's fair I mean yeah these are number one openings and we've already been over how Netflix can orchestrate a number one opening right I heard I mean I don't know if Snider was encouraging people to just like you know press play and like let it play on a loop all day essentially yeah like I mean it's like you're just gaming the algorithm at that point I don't think I think his movies cost too much money for what they're bringing in this movie 21.4 right I'm looking at what's on Netflix which is a great resource right love hard 22.9 love hard probably cost half as much as Rebel Moon part two yeah purple hearts 23.2 like that had to cost a fraction as much as Rebel Moon part two your place or mine 27.7 just a whole bunch of movies that you know uh have done better than Rebel Moon part two and don't cost as much I think the killer did better than Rebel Moon and doesn't cost it did the the killer cost more I think the killer was more expensive than uh than you or I or David would like to admit but uh yeah like even like yeah it's just he's got an animated film coming out in a few months on Netflix that feels similar to Rebel moon but do you think that's the last gasp of Zack does he go someplace else or does he trim down the budgets just to keep working and streaming because I don't see a lot of Studios knocking down Snyder's door to come work with him on any future projects right now that's the thing I don't know what he does because I think no one really wants the headache I mean the movies haven't been performing I think on a caseby casee basis maybe yeah but um you know would if you're nflix Would You Rather Make The Outlaws again at 19.6 or Rebel moon at 21.4 well talking about 2 million view viewers but like the dollar difference between the Outlaws and rebel Moon part two I can't even imagine what it was true true that's I wish yeah well it seems like that's where they're going so you know we'll see but I I think maybe he's got one more I I mean this is a bit of a wakeup call for Zack I feel like for all his conversations and interviews and look I like Zack I'm a big Zack Snider Defender I think is one of those rare directors working today that has no problems with with anybody on his staff and production team and actors everyone speaks glowingly about Zack the fans go after him because they hate him and whatever oh he said this about Batman oh my titties are in a Twist you know that nonsense but he's got a right to keep making stuff the question is does he have a right to keep making stuff at the budgets he's been making which I think you make an excellent point there Jeff and I wonder if maybe this is a pain and gain situation for the next few years as it goes a little smaller he needs wait who did you just say like Michael Bay did pay and gain or 13 hours small exactly that is exactly what I was thinking with 13 hours this he needs to reinvent himself yeah he needs to step away and do something that is not full of Zack Snider isms and is not going to lend itself to his uh you know patina if you will yeah um I think that he needs to he should try to do that movie The Last photograph or whatever that he developed for years which was I think going to start Batista yeah right and be like a real dramatic like acting part for Batista um but I I do think that Zack could stand to move away from the normal type of stuff that he does and and do something totally different go go try to find a [ __ ] crime show like mayor of East Town oh yeah I'd like to see Zack Snider's take on like a [ __ ] smalltown cop or something like that that'd be fun that'd be fun for sure I mean that third season trailer looks awesome um which dropped earlier this week all right let's keep going with stuff so we can hit get to the break here just reminder everybody the stream la super chats are open I only see seven stream uh uh super chats what the [ __ ] are we doing here people let's go send in giving you gold I'm giving you chest what do you guys want here send in your streamlabs and super chats here we're gonna answer them in a few minutes so send them in now while you can't seven that's ridiculous all right we got and we got almost 600 of you hanging out with us now make sure you hit a like on the video subscribe to the channel go to the ins Snider and.com And subscribe there as well all right Sony is getting the rights to the Clue game listen I'm not a fan of the original movie I know a lot of people are cult status and all of that but do we need a clue movie is this because of the Kenneth Bron movies and knives out is that why we're getting a clue movie here Jeff what's the logic here yes I mean I think that the murder mystery is back in whether it's murder mystery on Netflix you know Murder Mystery 2 is at the top of that what's on Netflix list I was reading from by the way good movie um I mean I I didn't really love e either one of them they're okay they're Netflix [ __ ] movies with with two watchable Stars had fun yeah Knives Out uh the the after what was the after party right right yes the after party just like you know Murder Mystery is is back and um even like the the Bron movies the Hercule perau movies yes so yeah I think this is a smart play from Sony to get in on that I think clue is a great title it's it's a title that skews young too like you don't have to do like this you know R-rated murder mystery for adults like you can have a little bit of fun with it and and skew it young so I I think that there's a lot of uh potential there and they don't have any attachments on it so they can also get like a big director or a cool writer producer on it whatever yeah originally or a few years ago Ryan Reynolds was attached at one point uh with Rett Ree and Paul Warick who wrote Deadpool writing it so I wonder if you cycle back to that at this point at land a big aist star like Ryan Reynolds who could sell this project uh in in a big way or you look at these kind of there's a lot of comedic actors working today can you put put that combo together that'll work overall cuz I mean you look at that original a lot of those actors were in their 30s as well kind of on the come up and and weren't that well known except for Tim Curry and they put together a really good cast there that's a lot that's a lot of fun to watch in that film besides whether I think the overall film works or not so we'll see I feel like if Reynolds wanted to do that he would have just like made it clear to Paramount and Paramount would have probably outbid Sony or something oh Fair points okay no um yeah all right let's move on to this Blair Witch situation uh Jeff what are your thoughts on this you're a big horror Guy The Blair Witch original actors here have um what are them they they they've made a request here that they would like retroactive compensation um as well as meaningful consultation on the upcoming rub reboot this is Heather Donahue Joshua Leonard and Mike Williams who came together with this and it was co-signed by the original Blair Witch Project directors who want to be a part is this is this what is this Jeff is this PR is this attempt to get their names back out there is attempt to really get paid what because I don't this is nonsense is what it is utter nonsense I'd like a Ferrari guys uh I mean is it unfair yeah when they made a deal with them did they see Blair Witch becoming what it would become probably not right right um I think anybody saw it coming becoming what it be right exactly and it's like that's life yeah know I'm sorry you don't get get to you know get paid for [ __ ] that you did in the past that like yeah I I don't even understand it and I know that the original filmmakers have really been clamoring well it's like well look at this you know book of Blair Witch 2 they didn't use the original creators and it sucked they reboot it with [ __ ] Adam winguard it sucked we're the key to the whole thing maybe try asking us back guys respectfully you're not the [ __ ] key to the whole thing okay like it was a great idea that you had at the time it came at the perfect time with the internet and everything like the marketing was the Genius of it all yeah uh but like you haven't done anything since then you know you've been the Blair Wich guy since 1999 what else you got so yeah I'm not exactly jumping to get back into bed with them if I'm an executive yeah I don't know it's it's a weird situ because it was I can't remember the name of the company that had it first and they were bought out by Lionsgate so what responsibilties Artis Artis right so what responsibility is Lions Gate have to what Artisan negotiated and by the way these actors were paid $300,000 back in 199 the way $300,000 was a lot of money back in 1999 when they were paid or in the late 90s there when they were paid out for it so the question becomes okay this is yes you're angry and I totally understand I totally respect that and I can see but you took the money like you took the money and yeah you're probably a poor college student or didn't have a lot of money like 300,000 great but you know at the end of the day there's you sold away the 1% stake if you had kept the 1% stake you'd be sitting much more pretty than you are right now and unfortunately that's that's life now do I think the studios should do write by them yes do I think they will I'd be very surprised I'd be very surprised like do do write by them how you know like I get like if if if you sign Margot Robbie to Barbie and then it has like some billion dollar opening week and then you give her like a bonus like a car or something like that I think they did actually you know yeah like Scarlett Johansson I think got like some sort of Black Widow bonus or whatever but like I don't really see how it's like yeah 22 years ago your movie really performed well for another studio and now we have the home video right I just I don't know no you sold away the rights quiet it's unfortunate truth yeah someone said Stallone should listen with the Rockies yeah maybe it's so funny because I was watching his acceptance speech the other day again from Golden Golden Globes and he was like all over all over chard off and Winkler and loving them and building them up and now he's talking all that negative stuff about them it's like a movie like Blair Witch is a calling card and you're supposed to use the calling card to get other jobs it's like if you have this call and you don't use it yeah that's kind of on you don't you don't just get to be like well I should really get have gotten paid a lot more for that calling card yeah exactly look they've all I mean I saw Heather and what was it taken that 10piece or 10p part series about UFOs there that Spielberg produced that that was fun but like none of them ever blew up as actors lard the only one Josh Leonard's the only one who's really had any career that's true that's true all right one last thing before we go to break man we got to talk about Seinfeld's commentary on mov movies he was in an interview with GQ um he said uh it was sort of amazing that this was new to you this is a question was asked of him this late in your career about making films he said it was totally new to me I thought i' had done some cool stuff but it was nothing like the way these people work they're so dead serious they don't have any idea that the movie business is over they have no idea and he says did you tell him I did not tell him that but film doesn't occupy the Pinnacle in the social cultural hierarchy that it did for most of our Lives when a movie came out it was if it was good and we all went to see it we all discussed it we quoted lines and scenes we liked now we're walking through fire hose of water just trying to see and there he's asked what do you think replac fil he says depression malays I would say confusion disorientation replaced the movie business everyone I know in show business every day is going what's going on how do you do this what are we supposed to do now so Jeff is this sour grapes from an almost 70 year old comedian what is this man I wrote a whole thing about this last night again and you did okay Jerry sanfield has never liked movies yeah because he's never been good at them well I mean he's every opportunity to do them I imagine if the star of the biggest sitcom on television in the 90s you were thrown all kinds of scripts I mean that was the comedy Heyday right right he didn't do any of them he didn't do them because he he didn't give a [ __ ] he didn't didn't you know didn't pursue any movies because doesn't care about them yeah um he did did one movie be movie he basically got bored during the pandemic and decided to write this script and you know Netflix will give him the money to shoot it but like it's it's I'll tell you what the movie is because it's like a 30 to 45 minute f fer die sketch that is stretched out to feature length yeah I actually laughed the first half hour a fair amount I thought you know there were some pretty clever gags but it just talking about the unfrosted movie yeah it wears out it's welcome but like even if you like look at Seinfeld anytime Seinfeld went to the movies on Seinfeld like they all loved to go to the movies oh yeah sure when they got to the movies it was an utter [ __ ] show okay you've got a guy filming uh the screen you've got a laser pointer guy you've got long lines for soldout tickets you've got concessions problems I mean Jerry loads the movies so I don't you know I don't really think that he is the best person to comment on the movie I agree yeah and I think he's wrong I I mean I think that obviously the movie business is facing some trouble and needs to get younger which is you know what we were talking about earlier uh but I saw a lot of good stuff at cincon to be excited about I think that it's just you know it's the Diamonds in the Rough that that I guarantee Seinfeld's not looking yeah and Seinfeld grew up in the 70s like that's the you can't compare the 70s to any decade before or since it is the greatest decade of movies where all these movies had so much to discuss and talk about and quotes and whatever and even in the 80s you had great comedies it's a different time and they're not making movies for 69y old Jerry Seinfeld there are plenty of people quoting movies who are under 30 years old talking about their favorite scenes Talk you know getting emotionally moved by these movies talking about the messaging of these movies exploring the cinematography exploring the creative techniques all this kind of stuff is happening it's just not movies that Jerry Seinfeld is interested in so I think it's ridiculous to say the movie business is dead every old person says that in the business every old Creator or creative says that [ __ ] once they get to a certain age it ain't like it used to be when they don't remember that their [ __ ] grandfathers and fathers were saying the same [ __ ] when they were coming up watching the movies that they loved it's all relative it's a circle of life man so I thought it was a ridiculous thing for him to say we have some breaking news okay put it on the table what's up I mean this isn't really like movie or TV news but Matt bellany just uh blasted a story that Stephen Spielberg has been quietly but actively working with the Joe Biden campaign hey to help choreograph the DNC in Chicago Democratic National Convention I like it uh wow interesting I like it interesting right because of all the stuff that the Guff Biden is getting from both sides of this Israel Gaza situation both people on both sides of it it's getting real heated now all protests around the country on these college campuses Spielberg getting involved is an interesting decision here I wonder how that's going to play when people get of course the right's going to use that as Hollywood liberal helping yeah it's the whole democracy is at stake thing and Spielberg wants to do whatever he can um says he could even direct or produce something that would be shown at the Convention as he didn't 2008 for Obama do it do it Stephen I support you um okay all right uh is anything else we oh yeah Jeff you're you had three stories you want to hit them real quick before we go to Break um oh just I mean to plug the newsletter guys if you haven't been subscribing to the newsletter please do Friday night I had one about Michael B Jordan producing a a movie um called one of them is an impostor about like a group of Assassins uh who are out to get like this Crime Boss but one of the Assassins isn't an assassin all he's just some guy who responded to a coded ad uh and but I hear that there's even more going on you know under the surface and so it's like been described as Cabin in the Woods for the action genre okay um last night I did a story about Jen Aniston right with doing nine to5 we are we already talked about that um what was the other one I [ __ ] forget John I don't the the Thursday Movie Club oh Thursday Movie Club yeah that got confirmed that that's a that's a big book people are really excited about that adaptation I know it's maybe not for our talk audience it's for older audiences but yeah that's shaping up to be Helen mirin Ben Kingsley and Pierce broen and that was a nice scoop that got confirmed by the trades this week um and then obviously you know on on campia show today I went and talked about the stranger thing stuff so do you want to talk about that or let's take a quick break then we'll talk about that and then we'll answer your streamlabs and the super chats you guys have sent in so uh let's take a quick break right now all right all right Jeff we may need to take another break in about 20 30 minutes dep how long we go but we're going to try to knock this out in the next 30 so what is this uh scoop you had on Jen John campi is show in Cas I mean you know you guys can check it out there but I I basically I dropped the episode titles for episodes one through six of stranger things season five uh I broke the um I dropped the report the directors alongside those episodes and I you know predicted what the release date will be now I'll deal with the the release date in one second the titles you guys can can look up online or whatever um the directors people keep being like what about Dan tractenberg because he was not in the six that I had and there's only eight episodes and I assume the duffers are going to do the last one so I would imagine the duffers were gonna do the second to last one as well it's possible tackenberg is doing that seventh one but something tells me it like didn't work out like you know I know that Netflix actually made that announcement you rarely see Netflix make announcements on things that like then don't happen but um I don't know if renberg is involved or not uh he was not on the list of names that I was given as for the release date of it all so like that's sort of been the the big takeaway from from this story you know I was told that they could get the first four episodes out by Thanksgiving wow and that that the next four episodes could be out by Christmas now what there's a couple things that complicates that and and I'm gonna write about in the newsletter as well tonight but like one source was like well I doubt that they do that because they're going to want to stret if they do split the season which is you know more likely than not they're going to want to spread it out over two fiscal quarters right so you know I don't know if if it's if they're thinking of Q q1 2025 for one of those and like they're gonna do drop in like Thanksgiving and then do 2025 or like was Christmas a backup date if they can't make Thanksgiving I don't know right but I still think that the first batch can get out before the end of the year other the only other thing complicating it is that squid game is also expected before the end of the year season two and I'm pretty sure that that will also be at the end of the year in December okay um and so it's like are you going to I if my initial Source was right which is Thanksgiving and and Christmas for for stranger things are you really going to do stranger things and Squid game on top of each other yeah that's a lot right yeah that I mean that and that is a lot so like maybe that part of this rumor you know blows up in my face a little bit like you know but I just can't see Netflix holding yeah stranger things to next year if half The Season's in the can because there's so many merch opportunities over the holidays like are you just gonna let the show be and and say we're doing it in 2025 and let the show be through another holiday season I feel like you'd want to go big and get it back out there if you could right right maybe you follow one right after the other but it seems like they like to own a cycle then take a break so it would seem be odd to put them right back back to back so to speak yeah the other the other thing is like a source was like well the duffers really like to match the season with the release state so like if it's a wintry season of the show they like it to debut in the winter and if it's like a big summer Fourth of July thing they want in the summer I don't know what to expect from season five of stranger things but to me I don't know the end darkness that signifies winter to me yeah yeah yeah so it's been off the air for so long it's like [ __ ] like if you can get it back out there before the end of the year why wouldn't you yeah right be smart and move to do that for sure I agree with you on that one um real quick reviews Challengers did you get a chance to see this Jeff I haven't seen it I I'm saving it for Stephie I want to take her it sounds like a great date movie I got asked to see it tonight actually by a buddy and I was like dude I he even bought me a ticket and I was like I appreciate that but was like I I want to see this with my girl yeah withy girl right afterwards it's a I saw some people pushing back on this that it's a sexy Mo don't describe it a sexy movie Yes it [ __ ] is a sexy movie why is that a crime it is absolutely sexy movie it's three young people at the height of their physical primes who have attractions for each other and they play off of each other as they get older it's told in a um constant back and forth time Jump with all of the characters involved switching allegiances and what have you it's a fascinating film I thought it incredibly well written I think it's Luca's best film in my opinion that he's ever done and Incredibly well directed and the tennis scenes are are phenomenally well done it isn't just like some some guy doing sports scenes you can tell this person understands tennis and what he's doing uh in in the shots there so zen zen is great Joshua Connor is the standout for me and Mike fa who's [ __ ] great as well I think it's a whole another I think this sends face and OK Conor into another realm zind is already there so just overall it's one you guys need to go see and the script is really well done and there are some steamy sex scenes which I think are fantastic so just throwing it out there um but I saw baby reindeer Jeff the the lady Outlaw and I spent two days watching this we would have blazed through it in one night except for episode four we had to take a break and take a day because that episode was insane everything Jeff said a couple of weeks ago about this [ __ ] show I Echo madly great Direction great acting where the [ __ ] have these actors been I know them a couple of them from British stuff but other than that it is a stellar Stellar show that you will burn through if you have the stomach for it in a night and at most two days it's phenomenal Jeff uh yeah obviously I mean it snuck up on me I didn't really know what the hell I was sitting down to watch until I you know to watch it and yeah I did it in in two days as well just two big burst it was it's it's It's haunting yeah do you think there will be nominations do you think Richard could get a nomination for an Emmy or a Golden Glow for his performance yes I think this is going to be a huge huge player in the limited series category I mean we were talking about things like lessons in chemistry getting a nomination like no this that that does not compare to baby reindeer yeah yeah um just to let you guys know it's basically a show about a guy who is stalked by a woman uh who comes into his bar and it's it's an exploration of the idea of stalking and it's based on a true story this guy actual Story the guy who wrote and stars in the in the show it is based on his actual life now not all of it is true but he used elements of the experience he had with a stalker to be the foundation but the commentary it's making about stalking and about grooming I think is a just po poignant approach to this this stuff uh within this the show so it's funny but there are some really hard moments and some Beautiful Moments as well uh in the show if you can if you can finish it out is is what say yeah was ter terrific agreed all right let's say the stream La super chats and then we'll get on out of here lucus superak says the top grossing X-Men film was Deadpool 2 with 785 million Deadpool Wolverine will miss a billion but it should pass 850 million what do you guys think yeah Jee I think it will I think you're right I I think that feels right Lucy I don't think it hits a billion but I think it can get past 785 with Hugh Jackman there as Wolverine yeah especially if it's a good film it'll hold up to multiple rewatches especially in the summer the thing about it though again it it requires you to know about the T the TVA right and know what's going on with that Levy came out today and said you don't have to have watched anything we'll give you everything you need but I don't know if I believe it yeah that that's the thing you don't you don't need to watch it but like if you're watching the trailer you're like [ __ ] what the [ __ ] is this who are these people I feel like I need to watch it right right especially because like there's a lot of [ __ ] from Loki in that trailer so uh C fan i92 says hi R and Jeff evening have either of you two seen this news on the of the onion being sold to a mystery group and Iger saying that those saying Disney is woke clearly don't get the meaning of the word I agree that no one knows what woke means no one knows what racist means racist means to discriminate against somebody I mean everyone's just a racist if they don't I I didn't like this actor in this movie was he black yeah he was black oh well then you're racist that's not what racist means so I don't think people know what woke or that or racist means uh as far as the onion I did see that news yeah I don't know what Tetra Hydra whatever the [ __ ] the uh the company is that bought them but I'm glad that they're keeping all the employees yeah yeah we'll see what happens with that for sure um and uh yeah Iger I don't think Iger is the one to be telling us about what woke means or doesn't mean I don't need an old white man telling me well I mean that's for sure yes he's the last one I need defining words for me yeah a rich old white man Carlton ruter says good evening from the UK if either of you could live in a country other than the USA what country would it be and why sending support for the show thank you Carlton well I made it very clear I'm I would live in London in a heartbeat I would absolutely renounce my US citizenship and roll on out of here and never come back if if if I had the opportunity to live in London for the rest of my life totally do if I needed to renounce if not I could be dual great but I would love to uh uh to move to London I mean never never been to Australia so I I'll say that blind but if I had to choose a country like I know what I'm going get into I've always enjoyed my trips to Canada I know it's an easy it's easy it's like you know us North but whatever yeah yeah Canada's Great uh lights camera super action Leo four The Joker that's offbeat and cool but whenever he flashes his wide gr I see Tom idon in the role his Shakespeare in background helps Leo for the Joker I I don't think that I think we're done with Jokers after walking don't you just no so I I this was a topic on campia show today where he he threw out 10 possible Jokers for like the gun Universe because assuming it's not going to be Barry kyogen right because he's with Reeves so if James gun cast own Joker and everything um I threw out Leo because Leo is basically becoming Jack Nicholson at this stage in his career and he's never done anything like this you know um so if he was up for it I think that would kind of be the perfect part for him I like the Heston idea although Heston was kind of like he was Loki in the MCU that's kind of is almost like the Joker role of of Marvel so I don't it would feel like he's repeating himself a little to me it's going to be someone in their 20s it ain't going to be anybody that we know I mean yes but that it was the the fun part of the exercise I mean you're right it's probably going to be somebody young treaser Jo Tracer James 51 says hi guys I keep seeing presenting rumors of a Korean language Huntress show in the works for DC have either of you heard anything Jeff I have not have you heard anything don't what is Huntress uh it's what who Mary Elizabeth Winstead played in Birds of Prey and it'd be Korean why I don't know I don't know I no I I don't have not heard of that persistent rumors like DC like American DC like James gun is GNA make a Korean language Huntress show I don't know that makes sense and where are you seeing these persisting rumors don't see that happening lights camera Jackson sent me something an email I want to ask you he says I remember you guys reading the announcement about the king of Late Night series with Joseph Gordon lus Johnny Carson like two years ago but it seems like nothing has happened since um he loves watching the reruns of Carson so hey you heard anything about the jef is it happening is it not happening is it still in development what do you know I'm sorry it's it's what it's a Carson what it's the it's a it's called the king of King of the late night it's a series that was gonna star Joseph Gordon L as Johnny Carson with Jay roach directing have you heard anything about it is it still Happ I have not heard a peep on that you're right like that does ring a bell um it's probably just it was like a development title I mean probably that's kind of what I do all day is just report on things that'll never get made but uh but they're in development uh and that is the important thing sure um by the way Zeno hour I like your bill hater call that's pretty good I didn't think of that oh hater Jamie what the [ __ ] Jamie why don't we think of that uh the Richard says hey guys I have a unique horror suggestions sting is the second is second only to Arachnophobia and I raise spiders love you guys I've heard sting isn't bad actually um you know I'll let that one find its way to me rather than track it down but uh oh okay is I love Arachnophobia Arachnophobia is a [ __ ] classic I hope that they don't touch that movie but like it would be a great title to remake true isn't Jeff Daniels in that one yeah you never seen Arachnophobia I'm spiders ain't my thing man it's so good John conquer your fear baby face your fear uh Wy ofc what's up Wy nice beard brother says sending in my weekly support hey Jeff any updates on the Taylor Swift directed film you guys are the best cool hoodie hoodie R oh yeah thanks man I got this at Ross for 20 bucks go ahead what Taylor Swift Direct movie what are you talking about I'm not tracking that I don't look into that every day um no I haven't heard anything about it honestly checking what you're checking on it's it's it's one I would like to break some news on down the line um John have you before we get to that next question have you heard of this movie the coffee table the coffee T I think I've heard something about it is what is it is it about coffee table books okay guys is it about cofy table books so because you are my loyal listeners this is the movie that I alluded to this morning about like I said I saw a [ __ ] crazy movie last night and I didn't identify what it was it was the coffee table okay so [ __ ] up just a very very uncomfortable watch in a way I was not prepared for and I and I went in blind I knew nothing about it okay don't read anything about it it's on Prime I think I think you have to rent it you might even have to buy it because it might be in theaters it might be like a day and date simultaneous thing baby reindeer and Texas chainsaw masac the original where does it fall where does it fall there where does it Veer closer to it veers closer to Texas Chainsaw I guess I don't know I don't that's tricky it's I can't I can't yeah I don't want to say anything about it because I know I'm gonna slip up and say too much okay it's just very very uncomfortable movie watch the Watchers trailer dropped this week I liked it uh I was ready to be like neppo baby but I actually like this so why are you ready to watch why is this everyone's Instinct oh I can't wait to see the neppo baby fail she's just a girl like TR she paid her dues what shut up shut up directed episodes of servant that were well received yeah her dad got her the job what the [ __ ] are you talking about cares if he gets a gets him the job go ahead it's not like she just like jumped into making a feature she worked in television for the last few years this is I don't know yeah anyway it look it looks fun yeah yeah it does look fun I liked it looks fun do you like uh Russell Crow going back to exorcism I watched that one today wof that tra what's he doing man so obviously that project has been on a shelf for a long long time and it obviously got retitled so that it can draft off the success of the Pope's Exorcist and to be honest if you watch you watched that trailer right John I did I watched it this morning do you think he was the star of the movie it seemed like he was the star of the movie but no I think it's the blonde isn't it yeah I think it's I think it's Ryan Simkins my former upand Comer of the month um but uh I think she's the real lead more than him they focused on him but it seemed clear that she was the lead yeah she got a lot of play in that trailer Lord Bry says Jeff do you have any Marvel updates for us anything no but I mean I I I guess I inadvertently revealed on uh campia show that they are you know they're they're getting closer to a writer on X-Men okay that that is true I mean you know I think it'll be by I wouldn't be shocked if they had somebody by Memorial Day like a director or writer writer okay right on I do think that they are hearing pitches and and you know narrowing down that list oh wow okay uh velocci pastor says Woka Roa on the case three ey rolls love the show though that's right [ __ ] you do love the show that's why you come back every week every week so suck it a d all right Philly 19057 says we all know Hollywood can be a copycat industry sometimes that being said do you guys feel like the johnwick action style in movies is getting played out or you guys want to see more of that particular style in movies thoughts yeah we said it with boy kills world I think is about to come out this week and monkey man underperforms so will boy kills World which is already getting some negative views you think we're done with it Jeff I mean I don't know that we're done with it because it's again if you read The Hollywood Reporter David Leech is the is the greatest director since sliced bread um wait until the Fall Guy underperforms in a couple of weeks but um you know obviously he has a very kinetic brand of action uh you know Chad does the same thing um it's it's really cool but yeah it does it gets monotonous the same way that all the Jason borne shaky cam [ __ ] wore out its welcome it's all about the charm of the actor now look I think Dev Patel is great and I liked monkey man but I could understand why it underperform he doesn't have the name notoriety that keano has and I think you have to have the combo Bill scars guard that film's not going to do like 700 million like you know not a lot of people might go see that movie even if it's good even though it's getting negative reviews some negative reviews it might not do so it's about the combination of the charm mixed in with the action Ryan Reynolds same thing like the action is mixed in with Ryan Reynolds humor that's the attraction so you've got to have that kind of level I think to make it work when I look at these things uh Mike Joyce says surprisingly I really enjoyed Sasquatch Sunset the movie where Riley Kio and Jesse eberg play Jesse Eisenberg play Sasquatches and grunt for 90 minutes what's your favorite movie where no one speaks does anybody speak in hush I don't know I haven't seen hush maybe not I forget the plum housee movie um a movie where nobody speaks uh what was the one oh silent movie with uh with the the Mel Brooks one where Marcel Maro is the only one who speaks the mime uh the artist I don't [ __ ] know oh the artist that's a good film that one best picture come on uh let's see oh yeah Metropolis there's all kinds of silent movies all the chaplain stuff there's a lot of them there you can explore Jeff Rus says any chance Toby Maguire and Hugh Jackman show up at Avengers Secret Wars or more marel movies after Deadpool and Wolverine I think Jackman as Wolverine is a given in secret Wars I don't know about Toby what do you think I think I think Toby's back yeah yeah okay all right Jeff and John says any Star Wars movies news movie news at this point the movies need a massive story to get people's attention that Lucas is serious about riding the ship Lucas you mean Lucas film is serious about riding the ship so Jeff have you heard anything you have no I got no news on Star Wars I don't believe no okay I am to flly gam says hello fellas with Planet of the Apes on the way I was curious if you heard anything good or bad about about it well I think films this year have been absolutely pathetic outside of Dune I'm only excited for alien and a few others thanks also LA or Den tonight oh oh la or Denver tonight I think Denver wins tonight it's in it's in it'll be in LA but I think Denver is gonna come back and win that game yeah Denver has a better team what he are you getting SW let me ask you something Jeff are you gonna go down 3-1 before this series goes back to Boston or are you stealing one in Miami this is scary times for Celtics F no we're going to win them both in Miami I'm not I'm not worried they they got the taste of their own medicine last night they they got caught off guard they thought they were just G they underestimated their opponent they thought they were GNA walk through them and and now they're awake and and they'll take it seriously okay all right uh have you heard anything about planet apes good or bad I think we talked about have you heard anything new no I haven't heard anything new um what did you think of the 28 years later cast I like it I think it's a good combo of actors strong actors being a part of this so yeah I I'm excited it's a nice combo I I mean I was surprised they got Aaron tlor Johnson like I think that's a pretty good get um I tell me Craven is not going to be they're high on him as Craven they they think they have something with Craven um I am told that the lead in that movie will be a 14 or 15y old oh really yeah I'm told that the lead is a teenager not not one of those three and I'm told that Killian yeah would return at the end of the second film oh nice okay yeah so I don't think he's going to be back for this one but I do think that he will be back okay the end of the second movie and have a a larger role maybe um in part three which I I again I don't know if they're gonna hire a different director for that one or if Bole will return to do the trilogy closer n d is doing the middle one right uh breaking news it is official the Chicago Bears have selected Caleb Williams as their quarterback and my Commanders on the clock right now as we speak and then and then the Patriots do we stay on the air here for this if you want to stay it's up to you you might as well I mean [ __ ] right we'll have to take a break in a couple of minutes so let's get through these stream La Super jats Ed Edis says saw French companies interested in Francis for copas megalopolis do you think that will happen or do you think he'll end up on a streamer I read somewhere that apple or Amazon might be interested yeah Jeff what have you heard on this situation with megalopolis I haven't heard [ __ ] dude I mean apple or Amazon like I don't know why if you were Amazon why you would really do this um I mean other than I guess Adam dri's the star yeah yeah yeah you've released a few Adam Driver movies Amazon has but um yeah apple like you just did you just did the whole like we paying for an old guy's big movie with killers of the flower Moon and yeah it got you 10 nominations but you're not gonna not going to repeat that you can't catch light you know lightning in a bottle twice yeah um I don't know what happens with this and I know most streamers like to take worldwide rights so if they're just like in a sell it off peace meal you know that they may get more money that way but I don't yeah I have no idea what happens to this movie breaking news the waston commanders have selected LSU quarterback Jaden Daniels so that's our that's our quarterback of the future Jeff I don't have a lot of faith in Jaden but uh I was thinking more Drake may but I guess they see something in Jaden that they really want so now you guys are on the clock with 8 minutes and 48 8 seconds so let's see here let's move on EX the extractor 123 says met someone from La told them I'm from Boston they said I'm sorry Australian F friend told La chick they are from Melbourne she asked is that near La no joke LOL this track with LA people in yours exp in your experience Jeff uh you mean that they're not that smart yes yeah I was no no all right fair enough uh Alan Smithy says yo Roa yo Snider any interest in watching hundreds of beavers looks interesting but could really be stupid people seem to like it also if you if you review it just say nice beavers thanks guys I don't know this is what is this I I I didn't think that you would know what this is hundreds of beavers what is it it's like almost like a Harold Lloyd movie or like a chaplain movie it's like a slapstick comedy black and white sort of Silent thing really I mean people like Skinnamarink so oh oh okay that that goes to show I I've heard decent things about it but I cannot imagine watching that movie for like an hour and a half as an hour and 48 minutes I can't imagine watching that movie I can't do that I can't do that um all right let's see what more we've got here oh we've gotten some more that have come through uh whatever okay let's take a break Jeff because we got to 30 Mark and we'll be back I promise we won't good okay we'll be right back right after this all right uh let's see how your Patriots your Patriots have not selected yet they're still on the clock uh as we speak so we will see what happens uh with your Patriots as they go along oh oh oh oh oh oh is the pick in the pick might be in let's see what happens let's see [Music] uh no still five minutes left so let's keep going on these um all right so we got those so let hit some of these streamlabs uh what do we got here that have just come through Oliver 3748 says don't let the haters get to you Roo we appreciate and respect you oh thanks man by the way got my tickets for Challengers and I'm hype have a great weekend yes definitely Oliver I appreciate it no I'm just spending too much time on Twitter it's becoming an addiction and I gotta stop so I'm bad out there yeah I'm gonna delete all my tweets man I'm done I'm [ __ ] done like I'm gonna everything Beyond six months is gone I'm just I'm done with it man I'm over I'm over it all I need to focus on myself are people going back through old tweets or something I don't understand no I just it's a way of like just [ __ ] flushing the toilet so to speak haunted autum says Jeff you just made my day with that Killian news oh there you go it was in the newsletter last night so read closely there you go Brandon says sorry guys I'm late asking this question but I've enjoyed the monster versus a theater experience what do you think is the potential endgame for the franchise will the heroes Kong and Godzilla ultimately meet their Doom the end game for the I don't think there is an end game yeah they have an end game if people keep going they're going to keep making them I'll tell you this seeing this last one I actually have hope for it in a way that I didn't after the last two installments this was a lot of fun even though it's not a great movie but it was fun and that's all I want from these things is to have some fun and be entertained and so I think there's as long as they make them like this they can keep going for a while man I don't think there is an endgame like you said you want to make that money all right let's check it the is in we're going to find out here in a second we'll find out what it is Princess positive hey guys given fan response and quality of X by 97 could this give Disney cover to rehire Bo Deo to write the X-Men movie no way Marvel would not have fired it he would not have fired him if they thought there was any way back Jeff your thought I mean they they rode the Jonathan major situation all the way to the end why would they like pull the trigger on B if they didn't think this was a done deal your thoughts I would be very I mean Marvel did hire James gun back so they sort of they have well Disney hired James gun back sure yeah I I don't see Bo Deo coming back from what I've heard um and yeah it would be great if like the trades could dig up that story and report that out but you know yeah I don't know what's gonna happen there um all right still no pick Jeff so apparently the pck is in but they haven't announced it yet so we're going to keep refreshing until they do announce it here um let's see we got a couple more that have come through here oh yeah I got the Luke skyw wanker what's up good to see you Luke have you noticed how hot the Spider-Man reissues are what does that mean how hot the Spider-Man M Jeff do you want to answer this yes uh Spider-Man 2 and three going back into theaters and everything oh yes yes right yeah I mean I think Spider-Man 2o did like 850k one weekend like yeah yeah pretty good for just like a library title that's sitting around yeah um yeah I mean I think it speaks to how those how well those movies still hold up right sperman 2 is still one of the best comic book movies ever and I'm sure there's a whole bunch of people who who either never seen it or never seen it on the big screen so I like the re-release play especially this year and next when things may be a little slow and the calendar may be a little thin uh hold on what we got here uh no what do we got no nothing all right nothing I guess um uh May the pick is in Drake May the New England Patriots have taken North Carolina's Drake May I thought we were going to take Drake may but I guess you guys love your white boy quarterbacks so Drake may it is man good good luck with that out of North Carolina I think the last North Carolina quarterback was Mitchell trais so good luck with that but man good luck uh let me Ward says um hi gu oh wow I I don't know what that means in in in American money but very kind of you hi guys with the 2024 box office tracking downwards this year is there a potential for some films to be FASTT tracked to this calendar year yeah Jeff do you see that that's actually a really good question do you think that they would move any films from 2025 into 2024 to fill any slots here if they start to see some of these movies maybe underperforming or not doing well I mean I don't think studios are making decisions based on like the overall like yearly box office um I think that I mean you could see something slide into 2024 either based on the awards race oh yeah like oh yeah we've got you know because I'm I'm told it's going to be thin Year Awards wise so people could either move something up to try to take advantage of that or I mean it seems like the fall is getting more and more crowded but we may also have some movies drop out as well yeah and so you may see others slide in and take their place yes yeah there you go uh okay all right so we'll see I think that's all the streamlabs oh no we got one more Logan it's a couple more here we go s sahia k says what would it take for Disney to sell off Star Wars rights how about how bad would it have to get for them to make them consider the idea they'd never sell it I mean they'd have to sink as a company Jee what do you think yeah I mean I don't think that they're like losing a ton of money on Star Wars or anything they may just not be making as much as initially forecasted um yeah that Bo article was a little misleading and ridiculous I mean the between the merch of it all and also Star Wars land or whatever the [ __ ] it's called uh you know the the the park like yeah I don't see them divest that yeah I know there's a strong section of the fan base who gets so mad about Star Wars and this or that but it still makes money it still gets the wrings it's still gets the views I understand quality-wise There's issues but in no way is this so imperative that they need to sell it and there's no way that they will as long as Kennedy I think is in charge of it there's no way that they will because I think what makes Lucas feel good is that someone he knows and grew up with in the industry like Kathleen Kennedy is taking care of his baby whether he likes what's happening with it or not at least it's in hands of someone he knows if it starts selling getting sold off I think it's a whole another ball game and there's no guarantee we won't get anything worse than we got than we have now everyone's thinking they're going to be selling to a great place they're gonna make these great movies Logan vongh says best memories watching the NFL draft years that stand out um yeah when we got to [ __ ] Robert
