This SIERRA COSWORTH sold for over £500,000! Silverstone Auction

[Music] and I think to myself what a wonderful [Music] what's going on guys welcome back to another video now currently I'm visiting race retro show in Coventry but I've stumbled across an auction well I say stumbled across I kind of plan to visit Silverstone auctions up here let's have a little look and check out the cars that going under the hammer this weekend I've been drawn to this Renault 5 GT Turbo it's a historic touring car look at that these touring cars been campaigned for 30 years plus even got some old stickers here the Donington historic Festival 2017 2016 2016 Silverstone classic I was expecting to see a engine in here but looks like someone's next it it's got a gearbox in it though the estimate on the GT Turbo is 35 to 40 000 pounds if you've watched my videos before you'll know that it won't be long before stumbled across a Ford we just found this Ford Lotus Cortina it says it's built from a Australian shell it's Cortina has enjoyed over 50 outings in the pre-66 touring car FIA and HTP papers until 2024 very neat fuel setup in the boot the estimate on the lowest Cortina is 65 to 75 grand not just one loads Cortina but there's two this Cortina we're looking at now is a 1964 same sort of setup in the boot this one's got a big fuel tank spare wheel battery located very very similar setup in here as well it's got a nice big cage in it and one bucket seat I'm not quite sure why but the estimate on this is considerably lower than the other one this Locus Cortina is only 30 to 35 000 pounds staying with Fords at the moment we've just stumbled across this Puma rally car it's built to a very high spec and it's also a no Reserve which I absolutely love apparently everything is in day apart from the seats so I'm pretty sure you'd have to change them if you wanted to compete in a rally and it is a no Reserve so whatever that sells for it's going on for that price now check this out this is Mark up a T Ford Anglia and this color is beautiful it'll be a very similar scenario with the Interiors on these rally cars no other seats just one bucket seat full cage but doesn't that look the part this Anglia has had a rebuild costing over 40 000 pounds got a damico engine in here 1.2 apparently filter FIA regulations this engine is capable of revving to 8 500 rows per minute that's the fuel tank tiny little fuel pump there very cool setup next we've got a 1990 Austin mini rally car I've just had a sneak peek in the interior wow look at that Dash all carbon fiber this one's got two seats the first rally car that we've seen today with two seats a power assisted steering that's a steering module from a Corsa C or Corsa B so that must be quite easy to turn this happens with quite a lot of the doors look at that it's just because it's one skin now basically now this was built by two brothers and overseen by some Irish rally Legends I believe not that you can see it but there's the fuel tank in where the back seats would normally go and all you've got in the boot now just a fuel pump fuel filter that's it it's a rust free example I've got to say for me personally this mini just looks the part the Arches the color it's actually flame red just the two stripes of white gun at the back and a white roof I'm not trying to sell it to you guys but this thing is honestly stunning here is the 1380 cc engine built by rally Legends Lloyds Hutchinson looks so cool nice alley rad there I've just seen the roll cage look at our little gussets there air vent at the top the estimate is 30 to 35 000 pounds looking around this 1994 Ford Escort RS Cosworth very standard interior but a very wacky Livery on the exterior a quick fact about this escort Cosworth is it's a homologation special now what I can pick up from this terminology is that it's made to resemble a rally car but it's road legal you'll have to correct me in the comment section if I'm wrong but that's my understanding of it and this escort is the first of 2500 escort cosworths that were a homologation special the wheels are very cool some OZ Racing 18 inch magnesium Wheels the mileage on the escort is 80 000 and the estimate is 32 to 42 000 pounds it's 1976 Ford Capri Mark II it's group one FIA approved with papers valid until the end of 2026 same layout as most of the rally cars we've seen so far today still very cool but obviously the bare minimum in here engine bay is noted as showroom condition and I can definitely agree with that it's got a rickwood V6 engine in there very clean for a competition engine bay the estimate on the Capri is 85 to 95 000 pounds here we have another 1994 escort Cosworth but this is a Sprint slash Hill Climb car pretty much exactly the same Livery as the one we just looked at apart from the insides on this one is completely different all stripped out flux Dash which is very neat the interesting thing about this Cosworth compared to the other one is this isn't road legal so you can't drive this on a road this is strictly a hill climb car check out the engine on this really like the way they've done that cam cover as well Alex Cole let's bring him back some Nostalgia old PlayStation logos I guess that's one of the things that doesn't make it road legal the estimate is 30 to 35 000 pound this is a 2000 Mini Cooper sport with a difference can you tell yeah well yeah you would be right in saying it's absolutely mint and the reason for that is it's only covered 700 miles from noon 700 miles in 23 years don't think we can afford this one though Lauren it does have only 700 miles on it but it's been serviced every single year and mot'd too like it that's it yeah Gotta Buy It Now you can just tell from the paintwork as well that it hasn't been used it might have been machine polished up but I doubt it 700 miles that hasn't had time to get scratches and have that many washes as I say there's been two owners of this mini a lady owned it until she passed away in 2020 so she owned it for the main bulk of its life I was just saying about the paintwork and it's actually got a five layer ceramic coating on it and the estimate is 25 to 30 000 pounds moved on to another mini and this one is actually a 1430 CC fuel injected how cool is that brought a smile to my face it says because that just looks stunning this class is a fast Road mini with 144 brake horsepower at the front wheels look at them Wheels though they are absolutely stunning oh yeah honestly I thought I'd already found my favorite car of the day but this is the leader now the color of the mini is tarte and red with a black cat roof these are Med engineering Alloys so you've got the fuel cell in the back and it's actually designed to go where the spare wheel used to be fuel pump and whatnot and a tiny little race battery down there the estimate is 25 to 30 000 pound and yep we found another mini right next to the other one this is a 1965 Austin Mini Cooper S originally from the Isle of Man the interior features a full roll cage these seats with the harnesses in them it says that the Mini's only covered 3 400 miles which could be true because it's from the Isle of Man the estimate is 20 to 25 000 pounds just looking around this Morris Mini Cooper 970s the engine was fully rebuilt in 2021 and it features a straight cut gearbox Laval dinky that steering wheel is very clean and tidy boot got the same as we saw at the other auctions the other week number plate flips up the color of this mini is tweed gray and it's got an Old English white roof sort of a off-white almost The Minis covered 53 000 miles and it's got an estimate of 40 to 50 000 pounds not another one yeah so this is the third Lotus Cortina we've come across today this one being a 1966 model this may be the third Lotus Cortina we've seen today but it's the first original looking one everything as it should be in there the estimate on the Cortina is 35 to 40 000 pounds this is the pole opposite the stuff I normally look at but it's here so we'll have a quick Gander this is a 2021 Mercedes AMG G63 got four liter twin turbo V8 it's only covered 7 000 miles and the estimate is 170 to 190 000 pounds look at Lauren over there she's loving it but the dash is fully digital it sort of spreads all the way across there it's probably one of them you can watch movies on if you're a passenger 23 inch wheels maybe one day if I'm rich and stupid but if I had 170 000 pounds I'd spend it on site different oh wow you already know I'm gonna look at this 1980 Ford Escort 1600 X-Pac I love the Luminous green I don't know if I'll be brave enough to paint one of my cars this color but look at that that is unreal hydraulic handbrake in there loving the fact that the cage is all color-coded as well well not the normal Engineers see an escorts but it is a very well-known Swap this is a two liter Vauxhall Red Top engine the XE engine sitting on a World Cup crossmember how aggressive does that look from the rear now I just found out this is actually signal green the escort's been built for competition but it says that the person who wins the auction has to check all of the roll cage in that over because none of it's been signed off there we have it the escort is slightly Rough Around the Edges regarding the paintwork but for 25 to 30 Grands I think that's a respectable price and someone can really make that look mint found this 1989 Ford Escort RS turbo one owner from new looks lovely inside the escort RS turbo has covered 60 000 miles fuel injected CVH Turbo Turbo's just down there it's a Garrett T3 turbo under here somewhere in the gearbox there's a limited slip div estimate on the RS turbo is 24 to 28 000 pounds sticking with the Fords for the moment say escort RS Cosworth now this is one of 104 that were ever produced in this or Wireless blue that is a terrible pronunciation for me coming how you actually pronounce it it's a very original conditioned car only covering 47 000 miles and one owner from new the originality continues inside it hasn't been touched at all the only modifications it's got is a chipped ECU and a turbo blow-off valve being the only finish letting it down is that Starline battery what a terror will make and the estimate is 65 to 75 000 pounds I'm not normally a BMW man but this has caught my eye and I'm all about trying to add different cars into these auction videos this is a BMW E30 been stripped out like quite a lot of the vehicles here very minimal big old bucket seat in there one of the things that really drew me to this car was the look from the back just the cage the white cage in there looks brilliant white Wheels as well can't go wrong with white and white the engine's been upgraded to a two liter M20 B20 engine and also the Bonnet isn't open because this Bonnet pins all right but this one's broken so unfortunately I can't show you guys the engine bay the estimate on the E30 is 14 to 18 000 pound another Classic Ford icon the Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth gleaming in here and it's black paintwork now this just like many other cars in this auction is a one owner from new until they've looked after it I've got to say Silverstone auctions have done a great job writing up information on these cars this was apparently the first Sierra Sapphire Cosworth sold in Scotland here's the heart of the car the twin cam turboed Cosworth engine Sierra needs a few bits of paint work but nothing major and the estimate is 35 to 40 000 pounds we found this two-door escort I ain't any two-door escort this is X Colin McRae Rally escort it's a Robert Reeves rally winning Ford Escort only covered 24 000 miles not sure if that's warranted or not there's a massive write-up on this mainly the story behind the escort it's all locked up and the reason for that is because the estimate is 200 to 240 000 pounds that's got to be one of the most expensive markzware escorts out there yet again I've stumbled across a classic Ford if you love classic Fords and you'll love this video but I promise I'll try and record other cars now this is a Sierra RS 500 Cosworth and it is absolutely gleaming there's nothing wrong with this at all it's described as possibly the finest example of Thor's most desirable Cosworth it's got only 5 000 miles on the clock and an estimate of 150 000 to 180 000 pounds that it's only really when you start inspecting the interior that you realize how low mileage this is just these seal trims are Immaculate not one scratch on them the door cards look like they've just come out of the factory now I'm trying to sell you this and just saying what I say this is amazing lovely interior I do say about bolster wear on these recaros and that that hasn't seen any has it at all it's brand new what a lovely Classic Ford it's the little things but look all the bolts are still zinc plated even the lock you can see it's inflated hasn't been used I actually can't get over how new this car is it literally looks like it's just come out the factory oh that's definitely the priciest RS 500 I've ever seen but let's see what it goes for how about this and must be a really rare car a 1986 Ford RS 200 this is one of 20 built to 350 brake horsepower specification I feel like whenever I see a RS200 it just looks like such a futuristic car look at all these vents up here for the airflow going into the engine would be so cool to have this all lifted up but I'm not sure they'd like us doing that moving into the cockpit very low down not sure if these Reds bucket seats came with the car you guys will have to let me know if this is uh added modification or whether it's from Factory the estimate on the RS 200 is 300 to 350 000 pounds got to be one of the most expensive cars here for sale at Silverstone auctions 50 000 pounds third final congratulations welcome in fact I was just talking about the price of the rs200s makes this Lamborghini look like a little micro it's only estimated 70 to 80 000 pounds not my usual cup of tea but just look around it's 2005 Lamborghini Gallardo it's one of 250 apparently there you go left hookah just like the RS200 showing 78 000 miles look at that green everywhere quite like it though I love how you've got the glass panel where the engine is 2005 so it's nearly 20 years old pretty meaty brakes on it also got separate caliper for the handbrake there's some minor defects in the paint but you're going to get that on uh 80 000 mile car but I still think for 70 to 80 grand that's uh yeah you get a Lamborghini found myself looking around another race car this one being a Alfa Romeo wouldn't want to catch your ankle on that when you're x to the car this is a 1985 Alfa Romeo GT V6 offered as a Gateway into some of Europe's best historic Motorsport I can't say I know much about it but it's here and the estimate is 70 to 90 000 pounds it's fair to say that I don't know a lot about jet cars but we stumbled across this 1996 Toyota Supra 1250 plus brake horsepower the fastest rear wheeled half-mile Street legal car in the UK that was a bit of a tongue twister wouldn't it but just look at that that is absolutely mental probably I'm being done one two three four five six it's got six cylinders but it's got 12 injectors it looks like someone will have to explain that to me is that just purely because it needs more fuel and they've adapted it to have two injectors per cylinder but just look at that Inlet turbo is the biggest turbo I have ever seen size of drag racing with a big chunky slick tires at the back you've got a parachute that features at the rear of the car as well it's a no Reserve so whatever this sells for that's what's going home for us let's see what that makes when it goes under the hammer and there we have it guys that was my take on Silverstone auction at race retro show I just want to briefly say a massive thank you to everyone at Silverstone auctions for making me and Lauren feel so welcomed it was great to go there and record all the cars now as for New World Records there is obviously the elephant in the room which was the Sierra RS 500 Cosworth which sold for 596 250 pounds which is absolutely incredible can't believe that but there was also loads of other world records broke there was a Lotus Elan that broke a world record a Fiat 131 a bath Land Rover Defender 110 country Lotus Elan and also a Ford Sierra Sapphire which I didn't record because there was just so many cars now unfortunately I didn't manage to capture the Sierra RS 500s going through the auction because I was too busy checking out some other events going on a race retro show but you've all probably seen the clips already it was uh crazy and I don't think anyone expects it to go for that sort of money you would have seen in my video that I had a good look around it and I thought it was mint but is it worth 600 000 pounds let me know in the comments section below I thought I'd mention the buyers fees because people always ask about them in these videos it was 12.5 percent of the hammer Price Plus v80 which seems to be the um the average across the board there's loads of auctions that I go to that do 12.5 plus vat to attend the auction and have a look rounds you had to buy a catalog I think these were 10 pounds so yeah I think 10 pounds admits two people into the auction and then you can roam around and check out all the classic cars if you're interested in visiting Silverstone auctions they do all of their auctions at different places their next one is at Supercar Fest on the 20th of May
