I love all the recipes that call for mayonnaise like classic potato salad or creamy deviled eggs but I don't like the Mayo instead I use this lighter and healthier alternative they're just as delicious and so much easier to make so in this video I'm going to show you how to whip up a healthier guilt-free version of mayo it can be used for all creamy Mayo based dip sauces or salad dressings the main component of my go-to me a substitute is Greek yogurt that contains way less fat and calories you can also use plain yogurt but you'll need to strain it overnight to get it really nice and thick and what I love about using yogurt as a substitute is that it won't overwhelm your dish with a heavy taste or Texture I start by measuring out one and a half cups of Greek yogurt then I add in a tablespoon of white wine vinegar this not only provides the right amount of acidity to balance out the flavors also a hint of sweetness that will take it to the next level next I add one tablespoon of olive oil to make it more smooth smooth and creamy and for salads it will help the dressing evenly coat all the ingredients 2 teaspoons any mustard you have in a fridge adding a small amount will improve the overall flavor it will prevent the mixture from separating and to adjust the flavor to your liking you may need to experiment with seasonings I'm going to add a good pinch of salt a few cracks of black pepper and just a tiny amount of this lovely chili paste which is my favorite addition to homemade burger sauce it's not really hot but the taste is amazing and now you just have to whisk everything together really well until smooth it's so much easier than making a homemade mayonnaise which I also don't really like because it's packed with unhealthy fats and calories and we use the same highly processed vegetable oils sure you can make your Mayo using olive oil but the taste of oil is quite strong and it's definitely more expensive but let's compare the nutrition facts 100 grams Greek yogurt contains 75 calories and 2 grams of fat a classic nail packs about 700 calories and 75 grams of fat and in terms of healthy eating I think these two are completely incomparable this healthier substitute goes well in so many different mayor based recipes and I have two suggestions for you you can make a creamy potato salad all you need is boiled potatoes some sliced onions and this creamy dressing it makes a really delicious and light potato salad you can eat more often or turn your classic deviled eggs into something healthier and less heavy by subbing these Greek yogurt sauce for mayonnaise and you can do this in pretty much any recipe I think you're going to love it like I do and if you want to learn how to turn any treat into delicious healthy recipe follow the link in the description to get my free ebook so if you don't like me or if you just want to limit your calories you can whip up this recipe in no time and if your ketchup lover I suggest you make this homemade version you can make either from fresh or canned tomato it's healthy low sugar and so much better than anything you can find in the store check out that recipe now thank you so much for watching see you in another video stay healthy stay happy
