This is the Best Casino to Gamble in all of Las Vegas

get ready to take life with the birds yeah so today we just checked into the el cortez hotel casino in downtown vegas look we got some merch waiting for us in the room how's it look pretty good huh so recently the el cortez renovated a bunch of rooms and right now we are staying me and greta are staying at one of those rooms so we're gonna give you a room tour and just show you what el cortez is all about celebrating 80 years okay oh yes [Music] they're not responding to the pageantry [ __ ] [Music] [Music] so these are the classic coin slots located at the el cortez people come from all around the world to play them because they are so dang rare they take giant silver coins to play and they are so cool [Music] we're at siegel's 1941 restaurant [Music] we're having stone crabs for the first time we both never had it before but we both love crab this one is a little different it's served on ice so i am in the high limit room at the el cortez and in this section of the vlog i'll be playing some blackjack the first time i'll ever be playing a table game on the vlog thank you el cortez for hooking us up i was gonna do ten [Music] [Applause] [Music] hmm all right so i started with 100 i've been very lucky so far i'm at 290 290. i told greta that my goal is to get to a thousand then i'll leave it's either i'll lose or get a thousand but we'll see [Music] i wish [Music] [Music] you [Music] [Music] you're good everything except for 100 10. [Music] 500 600 7 800 900 [Music] 500 chip it's paper okay so quick summary i had a hundred dollars that i won from the coin slots earlier so i was like you know i'm gonna throw 100 in see what happens and i even told greta that my goal is to either lose it or get to a thousand dollars and i'll stop left with almost a thousand nine hundred and ten pretty epic session a lot of big vets and big wins [Music] perfect [Music] good morning vlog so today we have a special episode normally i'd be checking out and getting on with my life however today greta and i are staying an additional night here at the el cortez but instead of staying an additional night at the standard room we're in right now we're upgrading we're going to be staying at the jackie gone suite the most famous and exclusive and impressive suite in all of the el cortez and one of the most historic and most famous suites in all of downtown las vegas so let's go there now [Music] welcome to the jackie on suite at el cortez this is jackie gone this is jackie gone's bedroom this is the jackie gone bathroom this is jackie gone's balcony actually one of his many balconies and for those who are unaware of who jackie gone is he was a casino owner and operator in vegas specifically the downtown area since the 1950s he was most well known as the long time owner and operator of the el cortez in downtown vegas and the suite that i'm in was where he lived until he died in 2014. since jackie's death the el cortez team told me that they do rent this room out but they're very selective with who they let stay here they say only one or two people stay here every month other than that they do use it for business meetings and occasional special events like an ellie golding music video shot here they're very selective in large part out of respect to jackie and what he means to the el cortez and downtown vegas in general he was just a very important person and they want to keep this place in as good of shape as they possibly can out of respect to him to keep the spirit alive [Music] so as i wait here for greta to get back from a nail appointment so we can go to lunch or i mean dinner i figured i'd share some cool information about el cortez with you guys [Music] so el cortez it opened up on fremont street on november 7 1941. and is one of the oldest hotel casino properties in las vegas along with the nearby golden gate hotel and casino on february 22nd 2013 the structure was placed on the national register of historic places so el cortez is a block away from the fremont street experience it's part of the newly created fremont east section of downtown so there's been a ton of remodeling through the years at el cortez but in 2018 they remodeled 73 rooms on the first five floors and then in 2019 they continue remodeling even even more rooms and then finally i was curious what cortez meant what the heck does al cortez mean i knew it was spanish but i didn't know what it meant so i looked it up cortez is a spanish or portuguese surname derived from old french meaning courteous or polite and that could not be more accurate based on how well i've been treated here by the team here i mean i thought the plaza and then cosmo i mean second time around obviously i thought those places treat me well but this place has been the best customer service by far i couldn't even tell you i mean i know i get special treatment but from what i've seen these guys really really really value customer service and making everyone feel comfortable and happy [Music] i'm ready for some sushi i'm ready for some sushi with me [Music] i went in town to shop around for something new [Music] good morning another night another stay at a cool awesome hotel in vegas for popsy and yeah besides sushi we pretty much just called it a night we wanted to just kind of hang out in the room and chill but uh i think one of the things i wanted to mention to you guys is the fact that since el cortez is technically a part of fremont east you know it gives you a different experience than the experience you would get at a downtown property that's connected to fremont street experience for example when you stay at one of the fremont street experience casino and hotels when you leave you pop onto fremont street experience you pop on to this madness this loud party and and craziness right but when you stay at el cortez you pop out to fremont east you pop out to this downtown road with some bars and restaurants but it's not just a big loud party you know like fremont experiences it's it's pretty neat it's pretty cool um it's very special for that reason i i did quickly want to show you guys this um i don't think i showed this so there's these things you see this it looks like a telephone and an old video thing basically there's a handful of these in the room all over the place this is the prehistoric original version of the ring doorbell system essentially so the way this works is when someone is outside the the door you simply press this white button and that will turn on the video feed now this takes a second to warm up but basically you will be able to see a live feed from people outside the door and look there's people outside the door you saw them walk through they kind of look like ghosts because the video quality isn't too great on the system that's the live video feed this is the phone where you can communicate with them and then if we go outside i can show you this is what the person outside will see a couple lights camera monitor speaker microphone and yeah so that system was originally installed in like 1979 early eighties and it's been preserved and kept here ever since i'm pretty sure those are not around anywhere on the planet anymore so i'm pretty grateful that i was able to experience it and see what it was like to have a very unique technology and expensive technology back then so that's pretty cool so anyway i hope you guys enjoyed my experience here i didn't know about the good odds to play blackjack here and how this place is one of the best locals and gamblers places it's a gambling go-to this place is doing an amazing job to just continue being special in the modern day and age and to continue that amazing customer service as well you know you go to places on the strip and big places on fremont and you might be treated well there but the way i was treated at el cortez was a little different it was similar to plaza i just felt like i was treated like i was a part of a family i just couldn't be happier with my stay so
