oh today we're going to review the Bandit x-trail Pro moped style dual motor dual battery full suspension e-bike first let's do a little walk around here I'll show you everything up close then we'll take it outside for some performance tests and I'll give you a full review ready go oh there's a 1000 watt motor on the back and a 500 watt motor up front actually quick correction this video is actually recorded a couple months ago the final production of this bike will have a 750 watt motor up front and also the battery is going to be a little bit more beefy than what you see in this video you can activate these motors individually there's several different driving modes and this bike has a really high top speed right now at the time of this recording this is a 2700 ish dollar bike any discount I can offer will be down in the description box below this video the very first feature I want to show you on this bike is turning it on when you power it up the first thing you see is this little image right here this bike has an NFC unlock option and what that means is all you have to do is have like a card in your pocket and when you get close to it the whole thing will unlock for you however you can also enter a passcode to unlock the bike and when the bike is locked none of the pedal assist features or power delivery will work so a thief can't just walk up and ride off with your bike and speaking of walk off with this is a relatively heavy bike it weighs 122 pounds that's just kind of what you get when you have all these batteries Motors and suspension so this is actually a early production model I don't have the NFC chip so I'm just entering a password enter and then the whole thing unlocks right away we're greeted with this color screen and we can see there are a variety of modes you've got Eco one two three and then it goes to normal four five now you're in sport and then you can go all the way to seven which is off-road and have full power Additionally you have the option to run the rear motor or just the front motor or Auto or Max with both Motors running also you can see the charge on each of the two batteries and there are a variety of other things you get a little range estimate and you can tap through these and see your trip time average speed trip distance and all the normal stuff and there are turn signals which are indicated right here on the dash as well here's what the turn signals look like on the rear of the bike and the rear light is a brake light when I grab the lever it lights up and up front we get a nice very bright headlight this is a prototype so the turn signals aren't installed on this model I do believe they will be on the final version and of course there is a throttle on this bike it's a quarter twist throttle with ergonomic hand grips with a rubber feel we get hydraulic brakes with nice feeling levers seven gears on the Shimano shifter a bell and we'll get to the batteries here in just a moment but there is a Shimano Altus derailleur and seven Shimano gears and just like most moped style e-bikes this has a 20 inch wheel with four inch wide tires they've got a knobby tread pattern and there are our mag wheels on this bike as opposed to traditional looking spoke wheels you have a little bit less maintenance on this but they do weigh a bit more The Hub motor on the rear is a 1000 watt motor the production version of this bike will have a 750 watt motor up front but this pre-production model had a 500 watt motor up front you get metal fenders and a dual Crown fork with front suspension as well as rear suspension and on these moped style bikes rear suspension really does make a huge difference we'll have to see how this feels when we get it out for a ride here's what the seat looks like on the bike it is a relatively long seat let's take a look at the batteries on the final production model this will be a 20 amp hour battery pack up front of course that battery locks in with a key this key actually snaps to the side to kind of make it have a more low profile when it's plugged into the side of the bike first key I've ever seen that does that so the key can kind of fold down to the side which goes to the show they definitely put a little bit of thought into this design because the the stanchion there will come over to or the key is and keep it out of the way the rear battery slides out the back and this is the big boy and the production model will have a 15 amp hour battery pack on the rear making for 35 amp hours of Total let's pop it back in there and lock it up of course you don't have to leave the key in there to drive taking a look at the motor in front we can see it is stamped as a 48 volt 500 watt motor again my bike had a 500 watt motor up front production will have 750. I'm not exactly sure what calipers these are but my first impression on these brakes they're good final production of this bike will have a 1000 watt motor on the rear But ultimately that number 1000 is just how much the motor can take continuously depending on how much power the controller mounted down inside here can pull from the two batteries and send to the motor so generally these 750 watt Motors they can definitely take a thousand Watts or more so we'll get out there and see how these two Motors perform in just a few one last thing I want to show you before we get outside showing a pretty high speed there all right let's take the Bandit X gel Pro out for a ride the more bikes I review the more I can appreciate these step through frames they're just so easy to get on you guys have no idea how excited I am to try this 20 Hill grade test on a 1500 watt dual motor bike so first thing we're going to do is just put this thing in Max settings off-road mode throttle only and see how it does uh ready go all right we're burning rubber and this thing is just pulling straight up the 20 grade no problem at all we're going to start the Strava 2 to make sure we can check our official distance on these batteries but while we're down here I'm going to put it on rear wheel drive only and see what it can do on Mac's off-road settings under throttle only just with the rear wheel out of curiosity no rollout throttle only ready go all right so yeah that front wheel makes all the difference and then I'm going to try it on front wheel drive only just for the heck of it Full Throttle oh yeah so you can tell the front motor has a significantly less power than the rear motor and also out of curiosity I'm gonna put it on auto which has both Wheels highlighted in green let's just see what it does so Full Throttle so it is engaging the front motor I feel like it's maybe not giving as much power on the front motor pushing it back to max max power oh yeah it definitely gives you a lot more power if you put on Max and that front wheel will spin you got to kind of get some weight on the front handlebars one final test I have it on auto and normal Power so the power assist is reduced a little bit and I'm gonna try pedaling under normal mode kind of rolling in uh gear one just kind of see what it'll do okay so this thing is awesome on Hills we'll check the top speed and the brakes and all that stuff here in just a few but first let's try some of the pedal assist modes generally if you don't need both Motors you'll probably get a little better battery efficiency running just you know one wheel drive I'm gonna have it on just rear right now let's start out on pedal assist zero so it gives you nothing and if you use a throttle throttle doesn't work either on zero but put it on one and uh kicks in nice and gentle shift up a few gears basic shifter Shimano shifters are always pretty darn good eco mode pedal assist one it'll let you cruise at about 8.8 miles an hour nice cruising uh Pace pose this too you feel a nice little boost in power already getting up towards the top of the gears here going 11. now pedal assist three will bring us to normal mode and we're going about almost 16. now pedal assist four we're hitting just shy of 19 miles an hour I'd say this is the point where I'm starting to kind of run out of pedaling gear a little bit pedaling position on this one isn't as bad as some moped style e-bikes one a lot of times the problem that you have on these moped style ones is they're just kind of awkward to actually pedal I'm not saying that this one is like not awkward but it's less awkward than some of the ones I've recently tried and that's probably due to the seat height in relation to the bottom of the pedal stroke being a little bit more extended compared to some of the ones I've recently reviewed but seating position on this bike is comfortable the handlebars kind of sweep back just a little bit nice ergonomic grips good BMX style Riser handlebars super easy to get on and off I just love that and generally yeah just a super comfortable seating position on this I'm curious how the power delivery is on the throttle for this so pedal assist one eco mode rear rear wheel drive only so it'll give you like a fraction of the power it appears like it ramps on a gentle but holding the throttle down with Eco Mode pedal assist one it'll still let you go fast commenting on the handling of this bike compared to other dual battery e-bikes I've rode recently this one feels a lot less uh and handling and it's due to the weight distribution so the way that this bike has its batteries mounted you get one here and then your big battery is right here so the weight is kind of distributed across the bike whereas you know if you have both batteries up front when you start turning it you can really feel that weight shifting up here on front just a little bit more distributed uh weight with this kind of setup it changes the handling and the way the bike feels so with rear wheel drive only let's just ride this off-road a little bit it is full suspension and running through here you know it doesn't feel bad at all way better than a hardtail but now we're about to get out into traffic and I need to switch this to off-road mode we're still on rear-wheel drive only full throttle rear wheel drive only the throttle only 32.8 according to the speedometer and right away I can tell this is going to be one of those bikes that I really am just not going to be encouraged to Pedal at all just has so much power on tap and the batteries are so big I know I can ride this thing like a motorcycle more than a bicycle all right dudes I'm super excited for this moment I have everything on Max settings we're going to do zero to top speed uh 0 to 20 and see what it can do thumb throttle only top settings level assist seven off-road Max both Wheels fully engaged ready go oh 20. dirty that just feels really fast let's run it back the other way it's a little bit windy out here today and I'm gonna try and get a little more weight on the handlebars up on the seat a little closer ready go all right putting the power down better 10 15. 20. wow if I and I'm gonna let off but yeah this thing moves man that front wheel drive when you get the power to stick by moving forward on the seat so I'm going this way is a little bit of a headwind and going that way is a little bit of a Tailwind but needless to say this thing freaking Cooks so check it out riding around on Max is a lot of fun but you're definitely going to eat through those batteries so much faster using you know Max setting and all-wheel drive except for just cruising here for a minute I'm gonna turn it down so for just like normal cruising there's really no need to use both Motors you're just gonna burn excess battery really for no no reason really so putting it on down to just uh rear reel Drive uh normal pedal assist of four pretty much I think the fastest you can like really pedal this bike and be able to have a meaningful input is about right around 16 to 18 miles an hour now you could change the gear ratios if you really want to Pedal throw a bigger chainring on the front another thing you might want to consider about this bike is it's pretty difficult to put in like meaningful pedal assist or power human power on a bike that weighs this much I think the listed weight of this bike is like 120 pounds just over 120 pounds realistically I mean even if Lance Armstrong is running this thing you're not going to really be putting a lot of human power into the uh propulsion of this bike the pedals I mean you can get a little exercise but mostly you're you're running on motor and Battery on something like this all right so let's see what this thing can actually do top speed wise I have everything on Max settings both motor both Motors on Max and it's not quite wide open throttle yet but wide open now GPS is my left hand so I've shown about 35 a little bit of Tailwind I think so 37 on the dash 35 on the GPS and theoretically if you pedal it says you can get up to 42. I think that's going to be about it right now now the beauty of something like this is you know you kind of ride it on the street but you can also bring it to places where bikes are and go pretty unnoticed so we'll kind of go into bicycle mode now here and try some of the pedal assist out see what the Cadence Sensor is like so I'm not pedaling pedaling power's on not pedaling pedaling powers on so pretty much very minimal lag on the Cadence Sensor it's good in terms of ride Comfort uh the suspension going over these little bumps like there are actually like little cracks here and stuff in the pavement I'm going over and you know it's not like the most amazing suspension I felt on any bike but it is actually pretty good like going over this bump here it takes a lot of the stress off your lower back hitting those bumps and rear suspension on a moped style bike is uh really important because pretty much you're just sitting all your weight on your butt you don't have any weight on your arms really and these bikes you tend to not really pedal that much so you don't get like suspension built into your legs kind of either uh so the suspension on these are it's really important uh let's see how the bike feels uh going up this I know it's gonna be able to do it oh yeah no problem how's the suspension feel though really uh going over bumps better definitely better than some of the other moped e-bikes I've tried really not bad so and it's like you can absolutely Hoon this thing just turn the wheel a little bit Full Throttle it's one of the few e-bikes you'll be able to burn out on but like I was mentioning before to keep that more under control you want to get more up on the front seat when you give a full throttle and it'll put the power down a little better hey who needs electric when you got this I don't know is an electric bike that has a little bit too much power really that bad running over this really bumpy Boardwalk uh suspension is pretty Supple really I mean this is a pretty decent ride going over this this is very bumpy but one of the main benefits of an all-wheel drive bike is riding it off-road like in loose pack sand a lot of bikes have a very difficult time doing this I really have no doubt this bike is going to do just fine you don't even need like a running start like you can literally just probably yeah just start from a stop like give a little bit of juice get on going and I mean all-wheel drive four inch wide tires this thing can just beast mode straight through this so if you're looking for a bike to ride on sand all-wheel drive and four inch wide tires really is the ticket I mean we could be out here with a Toyota Tundra just powering right through this no pedaling whatsoever uh hardly any bikes can do something like this and we're home to pretty good speed here too I mean I think this performance really speaks for itself compared to the most fat tire e-bikes I ride out here this thing is just absolutely dominating this at like high speed and really like one of the impressive things is being able to just do it from a stop you know just on its own just kind of easing on the throttle this thing's got torque for days with two Motors so I'm gonna throw this thing on Max settings all-wheel drive rolling into this house seven miles per hour a lot of moped bikes have a hard time doing this hill over about seven miles an hour this thing just accelerated I mean we're picking up speed 11 12 still getting speed 13 14. see how it does uh popping down this little bump here oh yeah it's just power on through here just for the fun of it because I know so fun dude the shorter 20 inch wheels makes it a little bit um a little bit kind of all over the place uh 26 inch wheels do a little better taller Wheels do a little better on uh sand but I mean it's totally fine there is one thing about this bike that I've kind of been keeping a secret and we'll get to that in just a moment whoa so quick little brake test from 20. these brakes are extremely strong I can't pull the lever all the way but I'll give an example here yeah the front tire locks up these hydraulic disc brakes are basically motorcycle hydraulic disc brakes they're the kind of brakes you have to be careful not to pull the lever too hard because you have plenty of stopping power on these brakes the hydraulic power in these brakes makes them very easy to operate you don't have to like pull the levers very hard at all and you get like a lot of force to the rotors pretty much the only limiting factor to these brakes is traction to from the tires to the ground typically the limiting factor is how hard can the disc actually grip the the rotor these are the kind of brakes that you got to be careful not to grab too hard because they they are very powerful brakes so right now we are 10 miles into this ride 54 minutes of riding time and a pretty high average speed of 13.28 and on the batteries we have 78 and 77 so the amount of Watt hours in these batteries is massive perhaps another thing I should mention about this bike is like its mass is not all downsides uh this thing does weigh like right around 120 pounds and there's a reason why I brought this bike out here today I have a lot of bikes to review on this channel but it's very windy out here today and the wind just does not affect this bike nearly as much as like lighter bikes and all the power uh you know I could just blast right through the wind and stop blowing me around at all I mean there's trade-offs for weight you get more range with the batteries a lot of the less powerful bikes and win like this they'd just be get blown around so let's do the California incline here really I guess just so you can see how this bike compares to maybe something else you watched on my channel you're thinking about getting not because I doubt it can do it at all because there will not be a problem I mean even like starting from a stop here like I'm just easing on the throttle yeah we can accelerate just kind of easing on the throttle and you know pedestrians Full Throttle yeah I mean the spike is great on hills and the California incline is a long gradual incline Full Throttle now as I mentioned this is Mars not just if you're comparing this to something else on my channel I've reviewed 20 miles an hour only halfway up the California incline and we're still picking up speed so Monster Power 20 yeah about 24 and still gaining and just in case this is your first time here on the channel here's the hill we just climbed we are just down there on that bike path just a moment ago so if you look at those flags off in the distance you can see the wind is blowing this way and it is a strong wind today 71 on both batteries and I'm just gonna see what the theoretical Max of this bike would be so let's just go for it turned on the steering wheel it's 20. 33. 34. 36. we got a lot off for a minute and probably most importantly with those dual massive batteries on there you'll be able to hold a higher speed for longer a lot of times I think the problem is even though if I can go faster than a small battery you really can't go fast for very long without completely smoking those batteries down to nothing high five here is a competing bike I know the pedal electric I did review that bike on the channel bro that's tail right there A lot of times people ask like why not just buy a motorcycle if you're shopping for a bike in this price point I mean I guess it's just what you're looking for and like where you can ride it like motorcycle you can't ride here I mean you shouldn't this is kind of like a crossover between you know like a gas moped and an e-bike and some exercise uh but you can still get out and ride where bicycles can go this is one of those bikes I don't know I'm just part of the street out of the trail the bike path I mean really what we have here is like a little two horsepower motorcycle passing cars all right guys let's take a look at the final range on the Bandit x-trial Pro and leave you with my final thoughts so we were out there for 21.85 miles and right now we're showing 56 left on each of the batteries so I don't know what the official range claims are on this bike but I'll tell you what man with dual batteries totaling 35 amp hours you're gonna get some serious range so with that kind of energy on a bike like this your range is going to be incredible especially if you're not going crazy fast like I was in today's ride now this is the x-trail pro version so it is like 2700 bucks which is a kind of steep price to ask for an e-bike but I do know many other e-bike brands out there charging More For Less so I mean at 2700 bucks considering what you're getting on this bike I do feel like the value is there it's not cheap but if you do want to grab one you can check the link below the video in the description box and see what sort of coupon code I can offer you and of course if you did grab one through that link below it would help support my channel and my reviews and of course I'd greatly appreciate your support however if this is not the bike for you you can watch this video here next thanks for watching guys if you enjoyed the video or found any value in this please give me a thumbs up drop a comment and I'll catch you in my next video
