This AT&T breach is too big to ignore

if you're an AT&T customer you should know hackers probably have records of your phone calls and texts the company says cyber attackers hacked into a cloud storage platform back in 2022 but it didn't become aware of the breach until April of this year this one's massive a lot of people are considering it one of the largest data breaches 110 million plus wireless customers affected AT&T says it's working with law enforcement and one person has already been arrested in aate statement the company says the stolen data does not contain the content of calls or texts personal information such as Social Security numbers dates of birth or other personally identifying information in other words hackers can see who you called or texted but not what was said still cyber security expert and author Scott schau says customers should be alert for what comes next usually following breaches of this scope and size this type of information it ends up on the dark web what happens people going to start calling you so be careful not to divulge any further personal information if they're asking for questions or scams pretending they're with AT&T or another company uh same thing with fishing emails since no personal information was apparently compromised Cher says there's not much else AT&T customers need to do right now but he says data breaches like this should remind us to keep our own online information secure using things like strong passwords and two-factor authentication in your corner I'm Walt Kane news12
