back in 2018 I and several other content creators were flown out to LA for the 10-year anniversary and reboot of Bakugan and you could see all the love and effort these designers had put into making of This reboot it was a legitimately exciting time and I loved that experience I still hold it very near and dear to my heart I still got the the jersey that they gave us from years ago and I'm never I don't think I'm ever going to give this up the official release occurred Al with toys along with a a well-designed card game a card game where you rolled the Bakugan not on cards but on a magnetic hex grid where you're the likelihood of your Bakugan actually like popping open is much higher and it was a legitimately fun game like I think it's the best Bakugan had ever been but from what I understand and some of these details are just hearsay so take it with a grain of salt the designers of Bakugan were getting a lot of push back from upper management upper management who only really cared or understood toy sales and you could not find the cards necessary to play this game anywhere and if you did they would people would usually like buy the entire box or the entire case or the entire line of cards because when are you going to get this chance to get them again they were that scarce effectively rendering the entire game pointless it was a distribution disaster the game grinded to a stop there was was no way for fans to create a TCG fan base or a league or go to their locals to start a competition or even play like kitchen table Bakugan properly the only thing you could do was Watch the cartoon SL anime and buy the toys and have awkward little magnetic hex pieces of metal that came with the toys but not trading cards except for like their character card which you need more than just that now don't get me wrong some people majority people are okay with that because the majority people that watching the show and buying the toys are kids the 2018 reboot was really trying to find a middle ground between a new audience of kids and the established older audience and it was the older audience that wanted to play the TCG and was buying all the cards so that made it to where no kids could buy the cards cuz kids don't have the money to buy a row of booster packs also there was no booster boxes you couldn't you couldn't buy booster boxes that was like a thing like they didn't they didn't really cooperate cooperate with like an established TCG distributor and I get it the toys are the major selling point but the reason that the people that developed the Bakugan game back in 2018 knew that spinmaster the company that made Bakugan didn't really have a strong chance at competing with their major competitor that being Beyblade because with Beyblade you buy the toy and you basically have everything you need to play the game of Beyblade when with Bakugan you need a multiple components and that makes it a lot harder as an entry Point into playing Bakugan the learning curve for the 2018 reboot was admittedly and I don't real I don't know why I didn't realize this during the time the the learn the the entry point and the learning curve was probably a little bit too high for kids at the time now kids are smart kids are out here looking up YouTube videos on how to play the Pokemon TCG I have no doubt that there's plenty of kids that could learn the Bakugon card game if they wanted to but the level of complexity that of which is already going to separate certain kids from other kids that combin with not being able to get you what you need for the card game made it to where the game essentially just died very very fast their Twitter has been completely abandoned and not even bothering to update it with any of the new artwork of the reboot and they haven't made any posts since 2021 so what did they decide to do they decided you know what screw it let's just reboot it again I'll also be grabbing some of the toys and reviewing the toy and the new rules of the game but first seeing as I'm more of a animation YouTuber I'm going to cover the the show first now don't get me wrong rebooting something multiple times isn't necessarily a bad thing sometimes you just got to cut your losses and admit that you did a bad job and try again which takes a lot of humility to a certain point because you really got to look in the mirror and be like you know what we screwed up but after seeing how much time and effort they took for the first reboot with all the designers and all the people they got in order to help build and establish a community like TR trying to like invest the time and money to get bakugone on its feet straight from the get-go it really hurts seeing them have to throw all of it away and reboot it all again so the second reboot leaves a bad taste in the mouths of Bakugan fans I largely review animated media and I haven't touched on any TCG content in a very long time so this will be a very fun return to Roots combined with how I currently make YouTube videos hi I'm juso and I make deep dive videos about toy lines including far more videos about Bakugan than just about anything else unfortunately the new stuff recently has left me with a little bit less to talk about than usual Gen 3 is a toy line with fleeting flashes of absolute Brilliance precariously put in a pin coherent package everything great that it does it undercuts in the very next breath they've made every new Bakugan split in half for customizability which is awesome but then the bottom halves don't pop open on the their own making the customization pretty arbitrary in practice they've ditched the old attribute system in favor of Pokemon like Clans mammal Aven incin Etc a neat change but then the cards still Grant bonuses based on color which gets really confusing when a Bakugan is orange or brown or vaguely yellow also its game system surrounds these new gate cards that are split up by territory just suppos to try to land on a specific territory to get the stat bonus as you want very neat but then they've shoved the whole game into these Arenas where all the rolling is random did I say rolling silly me I meant spinning in my opinion a reboot should always pull Focus back into the main core gamep playay gimmick or concept of the toy line something Monster High has done brilliantly something My Little Pony has pulled off quite a few times and yet for whatever reason the whole push of Bakugan second reboot is spinning special attack Bakugan an undercut to the very premise of Bakugan itself rolling onto cards and trying to stand your marble in essence and I talk about this a lot more in a video on my channel called new Bakugan versus new Beyblade basically in a quest for Simplicity and ease of gameplay for young children all is ended up as is a skilless game of pretty random chance and that's not to say there aren't good parts of gen 3 that are great fun I mean they've put out some truly excellent designs like pen a penguin with a jetpack and the show has organic looking monster designs that I find way more Bakugan than the Mechanical Animals of Gen 2 like flame a phoenix with cool goggles or hook a feathery Raptor it's just unfortunate to me that their toy counterparts can be pretty underwhelming by comparison the special attack Bakugan are the ones that have the most complex and interesting designs but they're hindered by these giant rings and the rolling gimmick and then still not having bottom halves that pop open in an interesting way very unfortunate ultimately despite so many elements of the series being improved or changed in a genuinely interesting way there's a lack of cohesion and solid gameplay something that I really miss compared to the first few years of Bakugan Gen 2 I do hope that people have a great time with it but for the time being they've made it a lot harder for me as a hobby anime games guy to enjoy it and I think that's something that probably extends to their younger demographic as well now of course this is all something that they could recover from the concept of Bakugan doesn't get old but they keep trying to make it into something new when all they really need to do is focus up and look at what elements of Bakugan have succeeded the most in the past rather than chasing the gimmicks of other toy lines those are my whole thoughts right now in a nutshell aside from the deeper stuff I talk about in my old video and some of my thoughts have even Advanced a little bit since then but that's basically all for me thank you negative legend for having me on the show you can find me youtube.com/ juso subscribe to negative Legend jet kuso covers the game and the updated rules and his opinions on it in his own video and he does such a great job at it that even my partner and our roommate watched it all together and they don't know anything about Bakugan really and they enjoyed the video so if you want to go check that out I'd recommend that video first let's cover the show that's been airing on Disney XD and Netflix I'll admit I'm a little upset at them changing The Supporting Cast I liked the previous cast but I like the cast even before then so I maybe I'll end up liking these characters too what throws me off is that the character designs or at least the art style looks more generic I like the either original Dan that looked edgy and cool or 2018 Dan that looked I like a little twerp but this Dan looks like he's the generic base form of Dan and Dragonoid looks more like a troll rather than a dragon I'm not very happy with the look but story is King in my mind so that's what I'm going to focus on huh are we talking about Dan and how unfocused his life has been lately at least Griffin doesn't have the killmonger haircut the origin story of Bakugan is pretty much the same Bakugan fell to the planet this time very destructively like gez I liked the magical aspect of them appearing and teleporting into existence like the original them trying to add explosions because it's punchy and cool just takes away from it a little bit Earth what super cluster is Earth in all of that is forgivable but they drastically changed Drago's character we usually see Drago as a leader type strong a mentor like Optimus Prime but Drago is more of a fish out of water doofus sort of lovable hmbo sort of sort of deal and I'm not about it I understand wanting to Branch out into new ideas but changing Drago this much it's so hard to to swallow I think I'd rather just throw up you know the war between Bakugan planets nus is the one who started it and he didn't like that I tried to stop him they decided to carry over a lot of details from the 2018 reboot but when the 2018 reboot was pretty casual they for some reason made this more casual they're just talking about an Interstellar War as if it's just old family history it creates this weird dissonance between what they are saying and how we're supposed to feel there's not really much of a hook other than cool visuals and a go-getter attitude they still need something that keeps the audience engaged an attitude isn't going to carry the show a massive Improvement to the game is that now Brawlers are more directly involved with a fight now there's a battle arena that pops up and the Brawlers need to run around to grab upgrades or bams for the Bakugan so the athletic ability of the Brawlers also plays a massive part to the battle something we see pulled from the video game they tried to make from with Way Forward Bakugan are getting corrupted for unknown reasons thus is the major conflict seen it before did they literally use an iPhone Avatar burning bre what was that just now my mouth was like a flamethrower I just said whatever popped into my head did they change their age demographic to a younger audience some of this dialogue sounds like it's for very small children like that sounds exactly like like something my three-year-old nephew would say I understand the Fish Out of Water idea for discovering how to connect with Brawlers and essentially we are the alien species that they are discovering as well and enhancing their fighting abilities but they act like all forms of abilities they acquire is surprising to them like they lack character or an understanding of their own species they love fighting it's like built into their brains but they didn't they didn't know they could do anything more than just punching and kicking what what was vroa like a debuff to them that doesn't really make any sense within the first episode after one incident Bakugan brawls were made illegal we're seeing them go through the exact same steps as the previous incarnation of Bakugan but very fast the funniest detail is that the Bakugan had to get jobs it doesn't seem like their ball form is their base form anymore that's not what they're comfortable in this is a good kind of human that's great this addresses the gripe I had last time where they what do they do with the alien populace now this is this is what happens they just have to integrate into society who to Earth he's a Bakugan which means he's a danger to everyone of course the black kid gets arrested racism now that brawls are outlawed there's underground rings for battling and you know the typing of the previous iterations like pyrus darkus Subterra Etc well they really changed that this season instead of an elemental typing instead they have the typing based off of animalistic Natures like Dragon Clan Aven Clan insect Clan and Etc which I'm not super happy to about to be frank what what is going to what's this going to do for their color schemes I guess we're just going to we're just doing away with color schemes now it doesn't matter anymore the dragon Clan is founded by nus Drago's enemy so they kind of can't join the dragon Clan without some serious headbutting big plans today big no small plant yeah I know the feeling so is it normal for human children to hide who they really are from their parents well no wait it's not normal I I guess I'm an outlier I've been lying to my parents about who I am for all my life I think what really shows a lack of effort for this show is that there isn't a battle choreographer it's just what's written to the show and there isn't much Beyond throwing punches getting upgrades and that's it there doesn't seem to be any strategy whatsoever and in most battle anime or anime that includes some sort of game usually you have a person whose sole job it is just to make the battles good let's just make our own Clan everyone's welcome no matter where they're from or what type of Bakugan they are ah Misfits I think that's it the misfit Clan let's go Misfit Clan it's the misfit Clan rxd I know news travels fast but they literally just said hey let's make a clan and so a rival swooped in saying they heard about their Clan online like jeez I guess child gang wars are on another level in order to compete with other clans they plan on scouting for new members and so we're introduced to Juno the adrenaline junkie and hacker sent a signal to your phones it let me access all your info you're a hacker Juno is the one that used to introduce the new toy gimmick where you can combine different Bakugan and introducing the gold Bakugan supposedly giving the misfit Clan the upper Edge when competing in tournaments wait are Bakugan like computers or robots in this world now deep in the coding language that I've never seen before and that is incredibly integral to the show like I guess we like Transformers are robot aliens so I guess we're just kind of riffing off that I I'll roll with it you know what it sure wait weren't we focusing on Bakugon being corrupted what what happened to that we went into a pseudo tournament gang war thing did they just forget about the corruption stuff and their upper Edge lasts all of one episode after their rival Clans steal their info and figure out gold evolutions for themselves you can definitely feel that a lot of the love is kind of gone this is the modern iteration of a glorified toy commercial show the start of this show is severely lacking I've still yet to see a hook at least one that they adhere to I like tournament arcs and gang war plots but this really doesn't elaborate on either they were so gung-ho about entering a tournament and there isn't even a ranking system yet they just randomly battle each other and steal Secrets because their butt hurt hurt there isn't an overarching plot quite yet they just do stuff episode per episode I understand wanting to establish the characters but all the characters are flat thus far it doesn't seem like they want to deepen the characters they just want to deliver the battle of the episode make Bakugan look cool so that kids will go buy the toys and the Bakugan do look cool don't get me wrong but the part that makes battles interesting are the stakes and they just isn't any Stakes to the battles and the dialogue is just so lackluster pretty interesting huh I'm more interested in lunch oh they're the insect Clan we've #b those bugs before and # kick their # Buck butts six episodes later the Bakugan went crazy corrupted finds Dan and the clan and asks them for help specifically to brawl which is somehow helping they start to brawl and for seemingly no reason octagon starts to go berserk again what happened after your first Rampage I was in some sort of research lab so they figure out where the secret lab is and sneak in to find out what this tech company needs with experimenting on Bakugan Mia finds out that one of the scientists is actually her father in the lab they find some random kid and they don't even talk they just brawl I guess they just let their fists do the talking here but this kid has a titanium Evolution instead of a gold Evolution which makes it special I'm by the way nice to meet you I actually don't know my name hey you know the whole underground lab and Bakugan getting corrupted yeah let's put that on the back burner again so we can focus on these kids getting his memories back because TC doesn't has Amnesia and that's way more interesting apparently okay listen I get that it's easy to bash on this show but from here on out one the show actually gets a lot better and two because it gets a lot better and because I don't want to just be a Negative Nancy I'm going to focus on the positives of the show from here on out it's too easy to be negative it's too easy to be me because at the end of the day I want more Bakugan I appreciate the effort that these people put in to a coordinated show and toy line and I want more Bakugan shows in the future being constantly negative and hypercritical isn't going to get us anywhere great for videos not great for reality as much as I'm nostalgic about the original Bakugan the reason we think the OG Bakugan was so cool is because because that's what appealed to us as kids and what appealed to us as kids doesn't necessarily appeal to kids today and so Bakugon needs to adapt to a new generation learning the interests of a new generation are is Paramount to creating an appealing long- lasting show and even though I feel like there's foundational aspects of the story that needs to be improved I'm never trying to make the creators feel bad for trying I hope they keep trying we need to remember that this is also a show for Netflix and Disney XD meaning they need to make Standalone episodes where a bunch of nothing happen so that it could be thrown in on the TV schedule any time without the viewers being confused we finally get to that tournament that they were talking about and of course no one likes the misfit Clan so they weren't invited but Dan and the clan figure out where to go to crash the party which very much aligns with their character because you don't belong Bakugon are supposed to stick to their own type your Clan is unnatural racism so not only does Drago and Nas duke it out but the entirety of Misfit Clan faces off in a 4v4 battle just to show everyone that they're better and work better as a team to show that using the different strengths of the different Clans work best together which is the whole point of what Drago and this the theme of this show is about but if Nas hates Clans mixing why is he working with other clans wouldn't he just be fighting with the dragon Clan either way we get to see them use their titanium forms Nas explains that he wants all the Clans to separate in order to keep their conflict with each other because if they can't unite together the nilas can maintain control over them it's a ploy for power and Dan discovers a combo bam an upgrade that simultaneously increases Drago's power and health which is only used in this one battle and pretty much never again creating a massive power boost and showing everyone that the misfit Clan is a real Contender and with that power boost drag manages to defeat nilas okay mission accomplished they didn't win the tournament they just needed to show everyone they ain't Chumps let's go back to the secret research stuff so there's a super I'm sorry so there's a super weapon the vestro made that's literally a massive laser that shoots through portals and sucks the energy of the planet to power it and now Mia's dad and the company he works for has it Drago is concerned that nilus may want it we finally get some backstory on why and Nas are enemies but they don't really explain much more than what we already know they just explained that there was a cold war on vroa but it ended up becoming destroying world's War I Drago tried to say hey maybe we shouldn't go to war and nilia said l no I'm I'm big tough strong and I want to show them how big tough strong I am and then there was a war and for no reason the portal sucked away the Bakugan right when the war started but no one is really sure why they managed to sneak in and get the Kito Drive the thing that actually does the heavy lifting for the cannon and somehow the dragon Clan knows about it and wants it to make their Bakugan stronger it's because of me those portals malfunctioned and ended up on Earth it is all my fault with with Drago's New personality this comes off less as a noble leader trying to prevent war and more of a buffoon that doesn't know what they're doing but has good intentions really takes away the impact of all this cage nilus is partner is starting to realize maybe nus is a massive jerkwad and doesn't want to you know create and maintain a war with Bakugan and be subservient to a tyrant of course there's a Gold Titanium Evolution there's infinite Evolutions we'll never stop making Evolutions why wouldn't we do this mysterious hooded figure and then nus tells everyone the reason all the Bakugan were swept away from their home is because of Drago and it's all Drago's fault so now everyone hates the misfit Clan no one has time to be angry because a mysterious portal opens and starts juicing up all the Bakugan without needing to be rolled out and hey we're touching on the corruption story we're really just mashing all the subplots together aren't we the government figures out how to neutralize Bakugan making them unable to brawl wowza edgy hooded figure again is this the antagonist we've waited for half the season to get edgy Hood guy sends them a message saying that he can give them back their powers and then a portal opens but Dan and Drago have to go alone edgy guy says that if they win a brawl they can keep their abilities to brawl when they leave obviously Dan wins you retain your powers permanently at least tell us who you are you can call me Dan and Griffin do some more investigating of Mia's dad trying to figure out what's his involvement with the neutralizer and turns out Mia's dad is actually trying to figure out a way to reverse the neutralizer turns out he's not a bad guy guy this show actually gets pretty good after the halfway point suddenly we're just we're just focusing on the plot the actual story hooks are being delivered on I guess they just wanted to get the boring stuff out of the way so we could focus on the good stuff I'm actually enjoying the show I I dare I say it it actually feels like Bakugan now like I'm getting a little nostalgic like it's become it's it's doing a 180 on me V decides that he's going to have a tournament between all the Clans but this time a tournament that does doesn't last one episode the best part of this whole tournament is how much Dan develops as a character he learns to stop being selfish and instead puts all his efforts into supporting his team especially since he's not one of the three that's in the tournament it's actually Mia Griffin and TC and he wants to be more of a big brother figure to TC as well he starts really becoming likable the latter half of season 1 actually focuses heavily on the TC and the Mystery of his Amnesia everything that's been happening from the mysterious masked V to the secret projects being done by illusion Tech all ties back to TC this is bad Andrew no Andrew think it's my name then Mia's cousins R out to Mia's Dad but he realizes Mia is super good at brawling and just sort of becomes okay with it so now the cat's out of the bag and it wasn't really a big deal he even realizes Bakugan is super cool and sees how they aren't really like all that much of a threat now that the Misfit Clan won the tournament the winner gets to fight V and V also stole nilas away from cage not that it was hard given their previous Kur fuffle and V unveils that it was the misfit clan that leted him get the drive from the cannon V says that whoever wins gets to take what they want from the loser if they win they can have the coido drive but if V wins he's taking ventry away from Mia apparently V's mask allows him to pair with Bakugan he wants sort of like brainwashing unsurprisingly V rigs the field to make it easier for him to win programming special upgrades that give him an unfair Advantage shocker they lose ventry stay with the misfit Clan or join my side saonara Misfit Clan V starts beating up everyone and converting them to his side creating a Bakugan Army so they turned to Mia's dad for help to try and figure out what's going on with everyone's Bakugan they roll out a plan for Dan to fight V and intentionally lose after they lose V asks if Drago wants to join him and Drago agrees but it doesn't seem like he's being brainwashed it looks like it's just an act to get close to V and whatever he's up to apparently Mia's dad created a device to block whatever signal is brainwashing Bakugan so Drago essentially took a vaccine program to block the signal just before their brawl they don't know how to reverse the brainwashing but they can prevent it I find kind of funny how they just give you an overview of all their Tech and like the choices they made then they never really go into any specifics about how any of it works it's very much the I'm in which is fine a lot of the details would probably go over kids heads but like they made a few leaps and logic in this scene you could be doing this truncated hyper technological super smart guy thing better even here skipping over details they make a device that transforms bam upgrades that carries the code that reverses the brainwashing so they get ventry all fixed up also Drago was losing the battle and he's now also cured that was the thing they're good now we're chill there's a lot of plot points they introduced that are very quickly resolved and it's all boiled down to barebones details so it's not very interesting how they actually solve things gasp V has a necklace exactly the same as TC that must mean V is actually were my brother flashback apparently when Bakugan crashed to Earth one hit TC's house with him and his parents inside TC's brother managed to save TC but their parents were gone that explains why they changed how the Bakugan came to Earth so he grew a disdain for Bakugan and wanted Bakugan to be broken just as they broke him you stole the vtan tech from that company I found all sorts of data Rel related to their Bakugan research and that's when he started developing the technology to control Bakugan he's the one responsible for the Rampages and the corruption from his early prototypes TC was against the idea after seeing what it did and it was during the initial test that TC got caught in the wreckage and lost his memory it was all because of his brother now we have the classic you know blood family versus found family issue for TC having to choose between V or the misfit Clan and V is very much off the deep end he wants to create a new world and TC decides not to join his brother because like that's pretty crazy stuff for real for real emotional brawl Between Brothers you are no longer the Andrew I once knew the car is long gone only me is left and I will create a new world honestly pretty good origin for a villain I'm surprised how well this was delivered all things considered the cave collapses and they got to fly out of there leaving their Feud open for more episodes and potential Seasons apparently V successfully made an army and is infecting every other Bakugan in order to take over the world the plan is in full motion time for the classic broadcast to unite all of our Rivals to fight against a common enemy help us otherwise no more brawling and brawling is super cool Bros come on cuz united we can beat anyone yeah I may not be super crazy about the character changes they made to Drago and Dan and the first half of this season was lackluster but it's good to see that all the plot hooks they put down were tied together into one big plot there was nothing that went unanswered or unresolved and given the large cast of characters it didn't feel like any of them were fully fleshed out but they were given just enough character in The Limelight to where it feels like they're all equally developed as best the writers could the story isn't anything we haven't seen before and it's a bit on the safer end but it's not bad I feel like this season is a step in the right direction I just hope a new wave of kids appreciate this show so that we can see a new age of Bakugan come to us I'll be happy to review more seasons of Bakugan if more seasons get made the biggest problems with this season is really just the pacing and how quickly they resolved some plot points it feels like the first half of the season was setting up the plot and then they had to resolve multiple plot hooks in one episode vaccine has been mass-produced thanks to the power of plot convenience time to bash in some vaccine juice into the brainwashed Bakugan wouldn't that be a cure and not a vaccine now it's a bit of a misnomer now we talk about friendship and make the newly established bad guy into no longer a bad guy because why would we keep all that villain progress we don't care about good writing we need to make everyone friends because think of the children we can't have nice things can we we get a final boss battle against Nas and the theme of togetherness is finally delivered they really drive home the story if you guys want more episodes then you need to go watch the show for yourself don't forget that these streaming services and TV channels only care about numbers and they don't look at YouTube videos so if you want to support the show the only way to do that is by watching the show they use the power of togetherness to Kamehameha nilus out of his super saiyyan form and then Juno does some cool hack sores to Force nus into his ball form and lock him in that form so he can't cause any more trouble convenient hacking powers activate nus is now defeated and the future of Bakugan braws looks bright happy ending for everyone except for the bad guy speaking of which I think we do some brawling ourselves let's go out and grab some toys and see if we can see how fun this new game is it's it's not even it's not even next it's not even like usually it's across from the usually it's across from the Beyblades now it's right next to the Beyblades what's is are they overtaking Beyblades yes okay first we need a special attack which is this is Drago obviously and then Bruiser and is that the only two no there's an insect I want the insect insect boom don't worry I'm not going to make a mess or if I do I'm going to put the back up so we need three Bakugan so oh my gosh this will kind of do the job it's Dragonoid and Nas and are these the two it's a clash pack I think this is everything we need just right here this is way cool cool ER okay we'll shoot we need the arena easy peasy look at this thing this is massive it's not even going to fit in the thing it's not even going to fit in the thing what is this for is this to hold your cards it has a little rip cord I'm over here I'm I'm over I'm I'm I'm I'm over here thank you the last thing we see are these tiny little tiny little toys where it's the Bakugon but split in two and you're supposed to like latch them on together and I think you can mix and match so we're going to get octagon inventory just to round things out more it's kind of weird not seeing too many Bakugan where it's just one unit in one sphere it's all it all has to be like split in twos it doesn't quite feel like Bakugan anymore I want the I want the FNAF one it's not Bakugan I want the FNAF one okay okay I remember this guy Dragon wood um I don't know I'm just here for the ride and to look pretty so I'll get this one I guess [Music] Isabelle and I played some of the game both with the arena and without you pick one of three Bakugan roll hope it pops open compare numbers depending on what zone that you landed on and the highest number wins if you win you keep your Bakugan open if you lose you close your Bakugan first person to open three Bakugan or win three times one with each Bakugan wins the game that's it with the arena it makes the gold Evolution you know rip cord spin Bakugon way easier and it's just more compelling because you have the Beyblade setup but without the arena there's really no way to use the spinning Bakugan because it's it's um hm it goes all over the place which is the point but you basically have to only you have to basically like take off the middle section and just not use the rip cord and just roll it regularly if you want to play without the arena because there's not a real way to use it reliably as you can see here but also with the arena the other two regular Bakugan that don't spin can be boring you have a ramp that you can you can use if you want to where you just drop it and it just rolls and you just let fate decide where your Bakugan lands or you can flick it into the place but without the flat surface of a regular table it l it takes out a lot of strategy and lot of technique with the arena you really just can't instill any technique whatsoever so you might as well just use the little ramp and just roll the dice and no doubt this was made to be very approachable for kids make it simple and fun so that any kid can play the game it makes sense I hope they figure out a system that makes it interesting for both kids and teenagers that actually want a bit of strategy and technique in this game because this setup will only really be appealing to a very young audience which as far as I can tell that's what they want as of now I think I understand their logic and I hope as time goes on and Their audience grows up that they will introduce strategy and technique into the game and evolve the game as the the player base evolves you know probably make it into like an actual game they have this thing called Master rules which is just you got these cards and you flip over a card that and you add the number that's it those are Master rules both Bakugon pop open you got to compare numbers now you get to flip a card wo that's not adding any strategy or any level of technique that's just adding complexity that's just adding more numbers you're just making them do more math and by the way we spent $100 on Bakugan product and only got three cards which tells me they don't really care about the cards and these things are darn near paper when it comes to their card stock so you know it it cost them basically nothing to print these things the cards are an afterthought maybe hopeful hopeful me speaking maybe they introduce the cards because they have plans to have the cards be an actual element of the game later on and so they're just bringing them in now so that people can get a little bit used to them again I don't have a lot of confidence in that but I'm I'm hopeful I mean you can see several Bakugan have the peg holes for what is no doubt going to be the Bakugan armor or the Bakugan weapons that of which they have done twice now so there is a road map that they plan to follow I'm hoping it's it's more than just the road map they followed twice now that plan may be innovating on the game but as of right now this setup is a massive downgrade from the previous game I would say this is a massive downgrade from the initial iteration of Bakugan they're really trying to do what they can to make the toys feel like they're more than just toys at the end of the day I think I'm at a point where I would still rather collect Bakugan but I'd rather Play Beyblade and they made this game where you essentially need the arena they clearly made the arena modular so you can take out pieces and put them in put in like a water Arena or a lava Arena parts to add more like visual interest and they can sell more Arenas in the future I kind of wish they'd have a cheaper version of the Arena because it's 30 bucks for the arena and that is a$ 30 it's a that's a fair price for the arena and like what they've made but it's also a $30 minimum buy in on top of having to buy the Bakugan I would say you don't need $100 for a buy in for everything you need but you're definitely going to need $60 to $70 to get everything you need which is still pretty expensive of an ask for kids and their parents and with the toys this annoys me the most is some split in half some don't and the ones that split in half can be pretty annoying to like switch out the top halves and you know lock them into place and the bottom half doesn't even move or open up and if it does it's like a teeny little like bit that's like Boop oh look oh it did something Boop that's it and it's just so the spinning in order order to have the spinning aspect of it and the rip cord aspect you had to remove a lot of what made Bakugan interesting in the first place this is a very very simplified version that is made for a much younger audience which I will repeat is not bad the spectacle of the game is really fun and if this is what's selling if this is what appeals to kids and if the numbers aren't lying then this is what should be made you know I am of the opinion that this is for kids and the kids should come first and if that means it doesn't appeal to Legacy fans anymore then so be it I'd rather a new generation of kids have Bakugan then just let Bakugan die if that means it is a version of Bakugan I no longer enjoy then so be it but you can definitely tell that Spin Master has said this is a toy first product game second and it's a far second at that now I think what is Smart in order to connect with the kids is that they have uh robloxs and each product comes with a little Roo Roblox code that of which I'll be giving away on my patreon and when you think of it like that it really like you really realize with how this game works and how much complexity or like pieces and variables you need in order to make it work it really shines as a video game like this is something that should just be a video game and I think they're realizing that now so it's really like you watch the show you play the game online and the toys are to emulate those two now for our vision of Bakugan you can't really make it into a toy line and have it work if it was like a board game idea where it's like one big box you spend a massive upfront cost of maybe like $150 and you just have everything you need in that one box that would work but that's not what they do that's not what they go for I would like if they did that and like had it to where like oh you can buy this on our website and it's like a big board game and it's everything you need to play proper spectacular everything you wanted in Bakugan all wrapped up into one this is the this is the the golden Bakugan but I heavily doubt they will they I don't think Spin Master has like a Mattel Creations or I think Hasbro has something like that also but they don't they don't have that don't forget to check out Jack kuso's Channel and his video on this subject also special thanks for having him on this video how do you feel about the new Bakugan are you an optimist like me are you a realist like me honestly wait I'm not entirely sure what I am now or do you just are you just a Negative Nancy and you think the and it's not going to last long and that Spin Master should just do better let me know in the comments below I hope you enjoyed this video stay beautiful and keep playing
