if you missed the original 360 controller you might want to give this a look [Music] Hardware manufacturer that's to be perfectly honest I have had very mixed feelings on they've made some stuff that I think is really cool and have enjoyed using and other stuff where but in the camp of stuff really liked and enjoyed one of my favorites was the replica of the Duke controller this was an officially licensed by Xbox controller made by hyperkin that replicated the look and feel of the original Xbox Duke controller while adding just a couple little bit of its own updates and changes while also making it a controller used for modern day systems and now five years later they're added again for the 360 with the Xenon wired controller this is a replica of the original 360 controller that has a couple additional buttons to make it work on Modern systems obviously you can use it with PC like you would original 360 controller or you could of course use it with the current Xbox series systems or the Xbox One systems from last gen speaking of Xbox by the way real quick we are just a couple weeks away from their summertime showcase where we'll hopefully be seeing some new game reveals some actual gameplay revealed for games you've heard about maybe get some release dates find out what's going on the rest of this year going into next year I am planning on covering that when it's going on so make sure to subscribe so you do not miss out on that now as of the time that I'm making this video this controller has not actually officially released yet hyper consent this over in its different colors for me to check out and try out so I put some time into it uh playing a bunch of actually either 360 backwards compatible games or Xbox One games that were remakes or remasters of 360 games and then also peeling it out compared to the original 360 controllers that I have on hand to really see how it Stacks up to that original feeling and I gotta say it comes way closer than I thought it would you know going back and forth between them and feeling things out again the 360 controllers I have are a little bit aged so there is some things to put in account there but even with that in mind the way that the triggers front-facing buttons d-pad sticks all of them actually feel very similar I would hesitate to say that they are identical but it honestly comes so close in a lot of instances that I think for a lot of people it practically is the left and right Bumper in particular feel pretty much the same as the original controller the left and right trigger the main difference on these is that it feels like the pressure required for them is just a little less it's a slightly smoother slightly less amount of resistance than I'm feeling on my OEM 360 controllers and then it's kind of the flip side of that the front facing buttons the abxy in particular I just have a little bit of extra stiffness to them something that I feel like happens with a lot of third-party controllers compared to official first party oftentimes the abxy buttons just tend to have a little bit more rigidness to them and I'm feeling that here on this controller as well d-pad feels great and is another one of those things that feels pretty much the same as the original one other aspect that's slightly different but I would say is in the favor of the Xenon controller is the fact that control sticks do have a little less friction to them so for instance if you're taking the control stick and just sliding around in a circle you're going to notice a little bit more of a kind of plastic scrapey feeling on the OEM controller which is something that's been toned down a lot in more recent modern controller designs and that is something that the Xenon is closer to and it doesn't have that quite same feeling of roughness now aside from buttons and sticks if we're just talking about the actual feeling and grip of the controller itself this is where it does does get a little bit more different in my opinion grip wise it is the same it has the same mold and all that good stuff where I notice a larger difference however is the plastic material on it does feel a little bit cheaper it's not giving me that exact you know immediate oh no this is definitely a third party kind of vibe but side by side does feel like a slightly rougher cheaper plastic compared to the OEM controllers and then this other one's a little bit more your mileage may vary depending on what you grew up playing on but the controller does feel just a bit too light to me a large part of this is the fact that I did not really use the wired 360 controller back in the day I was relying a lot more on the wireless designs like this one right here which have the battery pack and the batteries obviously add a nice bit of Hefty weight to the controller which you're not getting at all in the Xenon foreign this is something I've mentioned pretty much every controller video I talk about I'm always a fan of having a little bit of heft to my controller so the lightness of it is something that I'm a little more mixed on but if you are coming from having used the wired 360 controller a lot and you want that same feeling of weight on it that is something where this is going to come a little more closer to that style because it is in and of itself a wired controller feature wise obviously there are some updates and changes here compared to the original controller while it is a wired controller it is not hardwired in it is a USBC connection that comes with a USBC to USB a cable so you can just plug that into your system when you want to use it obviously on the bottom here it's using a more traditional audio jack as opposed to the more specialized designs that are on 3C controllers to use the 360 headsets one other feature worth noting is that like the original 360 controller the Xenon does also have a rumble feature built in that by modern standards does feel like a slightly more outdated Rumble but that's kind of the point it feels a lot like the rumble on a 360 controller where it's just kind of one setting that just goes off whenever it shakes and I actually kind of appreciate that given the fact that this is again a replica of the 360 controller a notice when looking at the central menu buttons here not only have they updated these symbols to reflect their new meanings that have changed since 360 but you have this additional third button here that is the share button now this actually highlights one of the things that is a downside to me about this controller and that has to do with how it looks compared to the original one of the things I loved about the hyper can do controller is that while it did replicate the look of the original controller it also punched it up a little bit with the addition of the animation screen that was used for the logo which even had the Xbox startup when it was first turning on the Xenon control on the other hand and instead of being a visual upgrade it feels like a little bit of a visual downgrade compared to the original for two key reasons both of which I understand but at the end of the day they do cause it to look a little worse first off the menu buttons that we're talking about while the original 360 controllers always had menu buttons that match to the Shell of the controller the hyper can Xenon controllers instead have opted for having the same black color buttons across all four controllers this ends up making the black Xenon controller in particular I think my favorite looking of the whole group because it ends up having the most actual original 360 feeling with those matching colors whereas for the white the pink and the red you're now getting this little bit of extra clash and pop in the form of these black buttons which I will say if they were in fact dead set on only having a single color option I think black was the way to go it's going to be the least obtrusive on all these controllers separately I think if they did white well it would look great on this controller wouldn't look so good on the black controller same goes for the pink and the red so black was the right choice for picking a single color but it doesn't change the fact that you know as far as the non-blaz Xenon controllers go it's something that I think just detracts a little bit from the look the other thing is the change to the Xbox button lights in the sense that well it's not a thing anymore which makes sense because again this is an updated controller used on Modern systems that isn't exactly a functionality that's being used on current Xbox controllers but one of the things that was always really cool visually about the 360 controller to me was the way it handled letting you know which player number you were you had the little four lights around the Xbox logo and depending which player you were it lit up that particular light with the Xenon that's not a thing at all because obviously that's not how the current Xbox works as instead just has a single little indicator light at the top right here I almost kind of wish even though it would not actually make sense relative to the original 360 controller icon kind of wish they just went for that look of having the four segments and then it was just the light up here that would light up to be like hey yeah you're player one even though that wouldn't necessarily be the case in like a four player setup it's again a change that I understand it does make sense but I just feel like it ends up causing it to lose out a little bit on having that original 360 controller look now to be perfectly honest well I have a lot of nostalgia for the 360 controller and I think it introduced a lot of Concepts that are very important to Modern Day designs ultimately it has been improved upon since then and if I'm going to reach for a controller that I think feels great I'm still going to prefer to use an actual OEM series controller that said if you have a lot of love for the 360 controller or you just want to have that nostalgic throwback of grabbing a controller that's in the same kind of style Design This controller is just so close to the feeling of the original with those couple of light things that are different that I mentioned earlier so those are my thoughts on the Xenon wired controller from hyperkin again as of posting this video they're not released just yet they'll be out very soon they are available for pre-order in four different colors so if you want to check that out I do have a link posted Down Below in the description aside from that as always if you enjoyed the video hit that thumbs up and let me know subscribe if you haven't yet and I'll see you guys later [Music]
