[Music] [Music] hey how you doing that's awesome I've gone back to Japan once again to grab a new Telly I didn't actually go there like I didn't travel but I bought it directly from an online shop in Japan this is the fender made in Japan hybrid 2 Telecaster in a limited edition finish called red Barrel barill B I'm just going to go with red Barrel cuz that's what it looks like did you know the red Barrel is super rare red Barrel is formerly known as Bix bite and marketed as red emerald and Scarlet Emerald is an extremely rare variety of Barrel as well as one of the rarest minerals on Earth so does that make this guitar super rare absolutely not at all cuz it's just the name oh man I keep forgetting how light it is but I doubt you'll see too many of these in the wild or in [Music] person okay I had a made in Japan hybrid 2 a couple years ago ago and I'll share that video in the link description I'll share the link in the description that's what I'm trying to say not the words are all messed up and I loved almost everything about it uh why didn't I keep it um it was just a plain black finish great guitar I probably sold it for something else probably sold it for uh I don't know can't remember now so this one was just released it's new for 2024 and what sold me was the look of it the maple top quilt Maple top they call it I'm pretty sure it's a veneer and uh the weight as well it's an alder body but it's crazy light wait until you see the weight just wait it's worth it's weight in red [Music] Barrel okay where did I get it we're going to go through this is going to be a deep dive but let's just talk about it where I got it and the price so I bought it from Kinko music in Japan and they have a Reverb store but they don't seem to list their Fender guitars on the Reverb on the reverber store anymore so I bought it directly from their site you can do that if you want to so the price I paid in Japanese Yen I'm going to pop it up on the screen so you can all understand exactly the conversion so this is a made in Japan hybrid 2 telecast Master quilt red barrel and the price was 137 137 okay I'm just going to put the numbers on the screen 161,000 JPY or Yen and when you convert that I'm distract you by showing this when you convert that to Canadian 1510 64 Canadian plus import and Duty fees was 179 80 uh 18 so 1689 82 all said and done convert that 2 American dollars 1245 44 I think it's a great value for a guitar this wellmade speaking of value we're going to get into the guitar and all the stuff in just a second uh so obviously this is not a sponsored video I bought it for my own collection I do want to mention something though Tim Pierce has given me a special promo offer to check out for you to check out his master class and be a member I'm a member right now and I've been doing it and I love it it's guitar lessons uh it's more than that it's a huge massive course and you can help support the channel if you sign up using my special affiliate link and take a look in the description for Tim Pierce masterclass special discount it's uh Tim pierce.com Landon and you'll get $40 off for the life of your membership that's 40 bucks off a site and by the way anybody you can go to you don't have to be in Japan to go to the fender Japanese site it tricks you though it does like a geolocation and it it sends to wherever you are you just go to fender.com and scroll to the bottom and click on U Japanese or something like that I'll show you I'll show you I'll make it easy because people don't want to figure things out for themselves anymore they just want to everybody to tell them what to do all right official specs let's put on screen we talk about it I'm going to bring it up on here so I can look at it we're going to look at it at the same time like I mentioned the body is Alder with a quilt maple top remember this is their wording gloss poly finish Telecaster shape body but it's got a tummy cut uh no arm carve and uh the neck is the one of the highlights of this for sure it's a a maple neck satin urethane feels like a pro two neck or like a player series like it's in between that modern c-shape guitar is 25.5 in scale length and Rosewood fingerboard 99 and 1/2 in radius 22 narrow tall Frets with a bone nut uh white dot inlays getting into the electronics got two single coil pickups you got hybrid 2 custom voiced single coil Telecaster pickup in the neck and in the bridge and then you got a four-way switch and one Volume One Tone so that's your normal bridge then you got a bridge and uh neck in parallel and then you've got neck and then you've got bridge and neck in series which is more like a humbucker tone they say so it's like a fuller heavier sound we'll go through all of it you'll hear it all and finishing it off we got a you know standard three three saddle vintage style Body through um bridge and uh Barrel Saddles slanted Barrel Saddles they're a little bit slanted and uh what else we got 9 to 42 strings it comes with they call it a gig bag it's um more of a gig cover uh guitar cover I [Music] [Music] say [Music] okay so that's everything that's what the guitar has like spec-wise let's go take it on the bench and check out more stuff I was talking about the weight earlier check out the weight this is definitely the lightest Fender Telecaster I've owned Like official Fender Telecaster and it's Alder so that alder tree must have been on a special diet or something I can't really explain why it's so light [Music] and uh pickup resistance measurements let's do that get that while you're watching some people want to know what's the pickup resistance numbers here you go and let's take a look under the pick guard and in the control cavity take all the screws out that's all you do pop it off incredibly clean amazing how clean it is inside but I'm not surprised because this is the fourth made in Japan vendor that I've owned and they've all been like this like does Fender Japan even make a bad guitar like just taking a look here under the control cavity look at this it's spotless I don't really have much to say you can like it it speaks for it what I'm trying to say is the video speaks for itself that's what I'm trying to say it's all nice and clean but how does it play plays amazingly well it's all right some tones let's talk about how it plays we'll do some clean stuff we'll do some non-clean stuff like unclean stuff and we'll hear all the different different positions so let's do it and today we're playing through my Fender Princeton reverb it's got a 12in Alo and I'm miking it with Royer r10 if there's any pedals I'll put them on screen so you'll know what I'm [Music] playing [Music] [Laughter] [Music] he [Music] [Applause] [Music] back [Music] [Music] a [Music] [Music] [Music] so my only complaint about the whole thing in this shouldn't matter at all but I know people will complain they'll be like that price it should come with a case comes with a gig cover bag and it's really it's just you know it protects the guitar from getting scratched maybe or dust so like you know everything else about the guitar amazing I love the weight I love the neck I love the tones I like the finish too I guess I love it too and I didn't realize there's a blue one coming out in June damn it I should have waited fit and finish is flawless so that's a guitar I love it again check out the link to Tim Pierce master class I got the special promo code special promo link check out the link why can't I talk uh if you want to get one of these you can take a look in the links below you might have to search for it and figure out where to get it and uh if you have any questions let me know in the comments as always play guitar and have fun and we'll see you in the next video what the
