this is my fully upgraded top of the line yeti sb115 i thought this 13 000 superbike would be the best feeling most fun bike in the world but it's been awful and today i'm gonna do everything i can to make this superbike ride like it should but first this bike needs a bath while i clean this bike i'd like to thank this video sponsor skillshare lately i've been having a lot of people asking about skillshare and skillshare is an online learning community with thousands of classes for people trying to learn new skills their library is just massive and anyone will be able to find a topic that interests them it's really the perfect place to start learning a new skill recently i've been learning storytelling by danielle jose older and how to improve my riding i've also had friends ask me about skillshare's art classes so their kids can learn to draw at home and keep them busy learning during the summer break it's actually a super cheap way to learn a new skill but if you're one of the first thousand people to use my link in the description you'll get a one month free trial of skillshare so go check it out it's free and it helps out the channel but man this bike cleans up nice so on my first ride maybe even first jump i had a horrific bottom out on the shock this yeti sp115 is marketed as a trail bike with 130 front travel and 115 rear but the saga squad told me that this is just a glorified xc bike but i refuse to let that be true but if it is true there's no way i'm keeping this bike i mean this should be able to handle small drops and single black diamonds especially with sixteen hundred dollars worth of suspension so i need to take off the rear shock to check it out but i don't even know how to get to the rear shock bolts [Music] [Music] now with that off the saga squad left me so many comments saying that a volume spacer or air token will solve my bottom out problem so i picked up a set of them for 23. i'm not super familiar with volume spacers but i'm just going to install the biggest one i hope this fixes the problem [Music] okay something is seriously wrong here i mean why else would the rear tire have contact of the frame i think there might be air in the negative chamber and i think that it's time that i confess something i bought this yeti used in fact i bought a ton of parts used or new in box i'll put the updated total on the yeti here after the brake swap and the parts that didn't carry over from the polygon but this frame is actually 2021 yeti espn115 that i bought used for 2800 the pink bike posting said that it was in pristine condition and had only been lightly ridden for 50 miles so i guess i'm going to try to purge the air and put it back together but i can't until these eyelet bearings are taken off this was way more work than i was expecting [Music] so [Music] [Music] i can still feel the air getting sucked into the negative chamber i really think this shock is blown you work hard to splurge and buy some nice bike parts and then this happens i really wonder if the seller knew about this and how lightly used this yeti was there's even a dent on the damper body i hope i don't need a whole new rear shock well it's a new day and i'm refreshed i was working on that shock until almost midnight and it was so stressful but it seems to be holding air [Music] phew what a relief to have fix that but it's crazy that a shock that cost over 500 could have seals blown like that but now that the rear end is fixed i need to fix the front end too it has a 67.5 degree headtube angle which is very steep for a modern bike almost outdated and i can feel it on the trail normally you can't fix bad geometry but i got several comments saying to get this a slacker kit this will slacken the head tube by 1.7 degrees i've never installed something like this hopefully i don't ruin this yeti [Music] [Music] oh man this is difficult these cups need perfect alignment to slacken the fork they say to use carbon paste that has sand grit to keep them from rotating but it keeps spinning i almost need another set of hands i think if i allow it to spin at all the sand will push out and the cups won't bite into the frame then i'll have a variable headtube angle on the trail [Music] [Music] all right it worked and i think the key here is to not use as much loctite as i did my biggest concern with slackening the headtube angle is lowering the bottom bracket and messing up the other geometry but check this out good thing i didn't cut my steer tube this adds 20 millimeters of extra height in fact according to a geo calculator there's almost no change to the bottom bracket height stack and see tube angle i did go with a different stem though it's a deity copperhead and i mainly got it to match the gunmetal gray levers and capacitors it's also a 35 millimeter clamping surface for my new bars these are 1up carbon bars that are 20 millimeters rise they're a little pricey but still a fraction of the price and weight of the fast flex bars that just came off and i'm going to cut them down to 780 millimeters [Music] so [Music] [Music] i think this bike is gonna work after all and i might just be able to keep it and fine-tuning the suspension didn't even cost that much i also checked the forks volume spacers and i think two is plenty but thank you so much to the saga squad for all the recommendations i'd be lost without you guys alright let's see how this rides [Music] [Music] i'm on the climb now and i feel like there's a little bit of a penalty for the slack headtube angle [Applause] but this bike already climbed so good i'll take the penalty to have more fun on the downhills all right i'm on top of the trail widowmaker and this is a black diamond but dude this trail looks so eroded from the rain all right here we go where'd all the dirt go oh it's so sketchy [Music] the slack head tube angle feels great the rear shock with the volume spacer is super supportive but now it would have been bottoming out the suspension but this bike can take what i've been throwing at it this is awesome oh turn oh yeah [Music] yes dude this bike ride's so good now i can't believe how much of a difference that was oh man that's steep this is exactly how i wanted to ride this i don't think this is an xc bike after all i really wonder how lightly used this bike was enough to blow out the rear shock [Music] all right that was a good shakedown let's keep moving oh man volume spacer allows me to have some pop dude yes this bike is so much fun now but uh oh i think there's something wrong with my shifting oh no this is bad so much flex no
