her a lot spoiler warning again again we're we're fans of the games and we're watching the show as fans of the games and so we might talk about like the rest of the game and maybe even part two episode I I mean I think this must just be a Canadian thing apparently I mean maybe even just an Eastern Canadian thing yeah because this is for me this is all I know the most I have never really seen them as uh cans I see I'm from the West well we're both from the West Coast but I lived on the west coast for a long time and I did see the canned versions like the really tall ones yeah I don't remember ever seeing a carton when they're maybe it's just an Eastern Canada thing we've got bagged milk we've got bagged milk we do like you buy like a bag of milk and then you like cut the corner and you stick it in a in a in a jug basically yeah so I promise yeah it is um so yeah we're not sponsed but nope just wanted to explain because half the comments were like there's that like I'm causing a feisty it is and I got another one especially for this well also in your edit at one point it kind of looked like Joel's grabbing it I didn't notice that until the comments pointed it out and I was like that's hysterical happy accidents he was like give me that give me the tear um well I feel like we're gonna get two episodes of hunters because they're introducing so like the leader yeah as a character like I don't think we're gonna see Henry and Sam in this episode no I don't think we're gonna see them at least until the next one yeah thank God because I don't think I can emotionally handle that I feel like I'm still recovering from last week's episode yeah anything else uh uh no I don't think so just like a nice big thanks yeah it's been really fun I mean we just started this to have a good time and yeah just because we love the the story and yeah I don't really expect it to get this much attention and I think it's also really special that like last week's episode got that much attention because obviously it was a really important episode for a lot of reasons but to us especially so yeah I mean uh it's just wonderful seeing how much people really interacted with the episode not just ours but like the episode episode the episode in general um yeah I think that means a lot to a lot of people and it's it's very important for a lot of communities so thank you we just watched the interview of Nick Offerman on uh Kim Holland Jimmy Kim no it was killed oh it was yeah it was Kimmel yeah um one of the Jimmy's uh late night talk show and he's been great on Twitter too like some some dude like tweeted and actually tagged him and was like this is against Jesus and you're obviously gay in real life or whatever Nick I heard his response was just to retweet it so that all his followers could just like [ __ ] on the guy and he eventually deleted his account that's wild so thanks Nick Offerman [Laughter] um it's wholesome to see how someone who portrays a career character on television and in film how they handle moments like that because I think that's a lot about them too as a person yeah um he seems to really like understand the responsibility yeah um and I listened to the how well most of the podcast episode two and it seemed like they did as well and like a lot of the crew on that episode were older like married gay men like the director the editor what other person one of the executive producers and obviously Murray Bartlett so um I thought they did a good job lots of Tears should we get should we grab two yeah we should get just I mean I don't know what to expect in this episode but like you never know I'm going back to you know I feel like we're gonna have someone die every episode oh God we're introduced to Melody Linsky and then she dies I really hope not [Music] a fun name to say it's not Monica Lewinsky who is it Melanie lynskey see but it sounds like Monica Lewinsky and I don't know why I keep thinking that I did not have sexual relations with that woman last episode I kept calling them Bill and Ted and their Excellent Adventure it's 9 16. yeah it should be available now of course we finally get to see Jeffrey Pierce he's the original Tommy yeah [Applause] I didn't know he was he was this one oh that's kind of a spoiler right there why did you make a little bit why did they make him the thumbnail you know what I mean we all know that I'm gay but he is fine as hell I'll say it I'll be the first one to say it Pedro is the zaddy of the internet I think he loves it oh he does look at it okay I kind of love that he wasn't mad about it honestly that they went from the point of view of apologizing yeah you put it in your pack shoot your damn ass off is that horse in a pack and bind it with the scene where he gave her the rifle that shows a lot of trust and she's still saved him like she did in the game when she shot the guy Ellie she put in her pocket yeah shoot your damn foot off oh she's definitely gonna have shot this [ __ ] show we'll get through this I know like I I kind of thought they might go in that direction I was just hoping they wouldn't because it's just awful I mean they in the game they don't really address it like that she definitely didn't kill Riley in the game you no she definitely didn't kill her but didn't we never really saw knew exactly or what exactly with Riley like Marlene did or that Riley like you know herself I really liked that scene I feel like I'm still crying what you think dead body or just like stash of stuff I don't know hide out damn it not Sam oh no that's the brothers I can't do he's protecting his brother dude Henry won't let Sam starve double the guards around our Provisions he's [ __ ] close I can feel it yeah what leave some alone thank you oh floater you think well it feels like yeah I think it's a floater yeah we haven't seen any effect of this episode oh my god oh she's gonna screw them all over yeah he looks like he's eight years old [Music] okay okay wow okay so so I guess we'll see if they really like this episode was like setting up yeah this faction and like how Henry and Sam so I guess the next episode will be them all trying to get the [ __ ] out of here yeah and they did a great job of like setting up these guys um yeah I swear to God it's the bloater if it's not I'm gonna be so disappointed so I think you're right I think this one and the next one are kind of like a two-parter well that makes sense because you know when you're when you know that they're introducing a character that wasn't in the game yeah and that has someone who's a you know um fairly well known um actor actress they have to do something with it for the most part so I felt like this person destroyed this like the two having the hunters and the brothers you can make it work together really well yeah as the other pieces of the story don't feel like they they necessarily can be expanded as much yeah you know I like that they are like kind of expanding on how they tie into these people because I feel like in the game they were I can't remember if they were even from Pittsburgh or if they were passing through Pittsburgh and they got attacked by these guys yeah I feel like in the game it was that they were passing through and also got attacked yeah um and they got separated from their group yeah but now it sounds like they're actually from here well from here but also we know that there might be another like faction or another group within this faction um that maybe Henry was associated with like there's something that's not quite clicking yet yeah there were no infected in that technically well we didn't see anything no but I feel like it makes sense because they kind of set it up right at the beginning with Joel being like people you know well that's and that's part of it too right is is often in Apocalypse type series and films video games just in general the worst thing that's out there is usually other people um it's not usually the monsters the infected whatever it is it's people because I feel like this is such a vehicle for the like monstrosity that we're capable of yeah I don't know if that's the right word um we're the real monsters but yeah like that's that's like infected or single-minded and they're predictable you know humans although they are introducing them as hive mind in this which is interesting but by single-minded I mean they have one goal like yeah [Laughter] I just mean like the high of mine can also add some depth to their ability to adapt they don't care about your feelings nah they're just gonna eat you so okay because I know Twitter is going to be Ablaze tomorrow and probably people are gonna have strong feelings about some of the changes they made in this episode um because it was kind of a slow episode um I feel like this was a very strong like Joel and Ellie episode yeah yeah there's a lot more in their relationship that was explored and then that moment of Joel apologizing to Ellie I love like how I I don't know like it took me by surprise because obviously at this point in the story in the game he's still very much like an [ __ ] kind of you know and we saw that at the beginning when he called her we called her cargo but to me it's like it's it's more clear in the show that he's just like putting that out there you know like he's trying so hard to like not get attached not get it yeah but yeah because I feel like a lot of where he comes from that I don't think I necessarily realized in the game is he just doesn't want to get attached like he's trying not to get hurt again yeah and he's scared that the same thing that happened with Sarah is gonna happen all over again yeah whereas I feel like that's pretty prevalent and test yeah and he he even like tried to keep her yeah at a distance and Bill and Frank too I mean he's lost a ton of people already even Tommy we don't know what's going on with him but I feel like he's just trying to protect himself yeah and I feel like that's really prevalent in this in this series and then I love that he's not as mean to her because then he's mean he is mean he is but also so a huge difference for me from the game in the series is that in the game because you play as the character your attachment as Joel 2 Ellie and you're like involvement in their relationship is a lot deeper because you're actually playing as him right you're going through all these moments you're having all these um things happen that you feel like you're kind of living through whereas with the series I feel like the reason why they need a bit more of this Exposition a bit more of these soft moments is because we're not as involved in what's happening yeah in terms of we're not guiding a character we're not playing a character we're just watching yeah um and we're also like not looking at Ellie from Joel's perspective which is why I'm really happy with like some of the changes they've made to Ellie's character because I feel like they're putting her more like on par with him yeah like she's more like his equal um and but she showed a lot of vulnerability in this one too like even crying in front of him and she even you know as much as she didn't say much about what happened with um Riley she mentioned that something happened yeah and even that's a huge step and I like that the difference is like she shut it down said she didn't want to talk about it and he didn't push her yeah whereas like if it was the other way around she's like well we got time like she wants to know everything you know like it just shows the difference in their boundaries yeah but it kind of reminds me honestly of um uh what was I gonna say of Bill and Frank um uh because when Frank said that it was his last day as much as Bill said he can't do it he also didn't push no he didn't push back he just kind of accepted that this is what he wants he wants and needs and respected that and I feel like that's being emulated here too you know yeah I feel like Bill and Frank were definitely like reflections of Joel and Ellie oh for sure 100 yep the whole thing was an allegory for for the growth that they need to go through yeah you know as much as they mentioned tests in the note it really applies to him and Ellie and he's becoming very fatherly [Laughter] with the jokes I mean come on that's just so awesome the G the banter between them and I like that I like that the banter is becoming more good-natured yeah because like at first it was like very bickery yeah but now it's a lot of sassy they're making fun of each other like and we saw that a bit in the last episode too when yeah Ellie had said you know I'm gonna take a shower yeah you look pretty and you skate yeah she's like you need to too because whoo but he's definitely yeah that letter has really gotten to him I think yeah and we even even his moment in the last episode of like taking a moment outside to mourn and feel even that is huge growth for him in the game he's just like nope yeah we're not going to talk about it ever again he's very shut off he's very sheltered and it takes it honestly I think in the game it takes him till the end to figure out things that we're seeing already yeah you know which I like I'm okay with that um I don't think that it needs that the series needs to be like exactly what we're experiencing in the game because it's absolutely not it's a different format it's a different way to see a story and we'll get different things from this it doesn't have to do the same I do want to talk a little bit about the moment when Ellie shot the kid because that was a lot that was horrendous that was a lot and to hear him yelling for his mom yeah to have that be his last words oh my God awful that was so awful yeah I okay so the one part I wanted to touch on with that scene um was that we're seeing that everyone of every age is being affected but that also the cost of survival can be really high and that it also introduced um this conversation between Joel and Ellie of she asks them you know have you killed innocent people before um and so I think as much as that scene is really difficult to watch um it gave Joel and Ellie sort of a conversation point of understanding what this world is and what drill's history is and why he is the way he is but also for us understanding that you know decisions are made that aren't easy that don't necessarily seem right but they're made I don't know I just I think it added a lot of depth to Ellie understanding Joel yeah and where he comes from and what his history has been to get to this point because she was born into the pandemic he's been living it for 20 years yeah you know it's not the same thing and I like that they're humanizing this faction because I think in the game they're just like a bunch of dudes yeah I mean the games I never really cared when they showed up yeah I was just like oh this is annoying I have human AI yeah but you know and they were like really like disgusting like they were murdering people left right and center and I feel like weren't the cannibals at one point no the cannibals are David's guys right these guys were just like take they they called them tourists like people who passed through it they just like loot them and kill them [ __ ] if they make her kill I think that's what they're going for yeah this woman she's got this Vendetta because her brother was killed and I'm like Henry's just looking up for his brother dude also we don't even know if Henry was actually involved yeah we don't know what the motivation was we don't actually know what happened yet so it just feels like and this time so this feels like it's tying into the themes of um the last of us too where you get so stuck on a vendetta that everything else goes to [ __ ] yeah you know she's just gonna let this thing it's gonna kill them all I mean we know it comes out I know it comes out in fire it's it's not gonna be good and it [ __ ] Roars but I'm honestly I'm so excited to see uploader I've been waiting all season as much as I'm gonna be horrified next episode I'm also so excited I cannot physically emotionally handle Henry and Sam so small oh God he really is just a little baby and he's deaf I totally forgot about that [ __ ] when I the one a
