There are more Languages Spoken in Canada than you Think!

hello I'm Mel teacher today I will teach you about languages in Canada as you may have heard Canada has two official languages English and French almost 76 percent of Canadians speak English as a first language and 21 of Canadians speak French as a first language out of that 18 of Canadians can speak both English and French as we know English comes from England and French comes from France so what did Canadians speak before the Europeans came well they spoke indigenous native languages and some still do Canada has many Native languages such as Ojibwe and many more although only about 180 000 Canadians speak these native languages at home many more people are starting to study them as a second or third language of course many other languages are spoken in Canada too since it is a diverse country for example both Mandarin Chinese and Punjabi have over half a million speakers in Canada but the really cool thing is when you walk around in cities in Canada you can hear so many different languages at once it's truly a unique experience today we talked about the languages in Canada thanks for watching see ya later a
