[Music] in pop culture most things entitled beast are men with hearts of gold and a rough hairy exterior however beast is also the nickname for trumps limousine although its exterior is fuzz free its strong enough to have earned its moniker and the outside is just the beginning here are 10 mind-blowing facts about president Trump's vehicle shifting gears for a moment drag your finger on over to the subscribe button click it to make sure you stay up to date on the hug and don't get left in the dust a whole new vehicle historically the presidential vehicle has been created by Cadillac although it's modified from the models available to civilians since most of us don't eat a stockpile of weapons and hitting compartments in our vehicles this makes sense this vehicle however is unlike any former presidential vehicle it's based on the Chevy Kodiak a truck that hasn't been made since 2009 these vehicles are extremely rugged and were used from everything from dump trucks to u-hauls while it has the raw diesel power of the Kodiak design-wise it's a sedan type vehicle despite its size some trim pieces are standard such as the headlamp from the Escalade and tail light from this discontinued SPS the exposed chrome on the door handles and around the windows add a little beauty to this piece bulletproof the fact that the presidents of vehicle is bulletproof definitely isn't mind blowing on its own since that seems like a standard feature in presidential vehicles the incredible part is just how bulletproof it is in fact it's doubtful that there is a more heavily armored vehicle anywhere in the world his armored plating is so thick that the doors are nearly impossible to open from the outside they weigh as much as the doors on a Boeing 757 aircraft made for the combination of dual hardest steel aluminum titanium and ceramic the beast would stand strong to even the most powerful projectiles even the windows are made up of five layers of glass and polycarbonate each an entire inch thick the front windshield can withstand armor-piercing bullets or a 44 Magnum chemical-resistant so while the beasts may be more than able to stand up to gunfire what about a chemical attack after all it takes more than just some extra steel to keep passengers safe in the event chemicals are used by an enemy even all the weapons stockpile inside the car won't help you if you're up against dangerous gases and if a shotgun and grill mounted guns don't help you out of a situation you know it's gotten pretty serious the heavy doors are designed to create a perfect seal when closed this means that offensive chemicals won't be able to seep inside to harm passengers there is also an oxygen system stored in the trunk just in case the attacks makes it difficult to breathe weaponry if the best defense is a good offense then Trump's vehicle is the safest car on the road we all hate it when a fellow driver tailgates us instead of passively aggressively slowing down that has the option of using tear gas cannons mounted on the rear bumper although the vehicle is always accompanied by armed Secret Service agents it also comes with its own pump action shotgun just in case there is also a gun mounted behind the front grille although we aren't privy to the details it seems that the trunk is also chock full of weapons so if you're the kind of person who likes to drive close to the bumper in front of you why don't be that person this is one vehicle you definitely want to give it space diesel what keeps an armored beast up and running diesel fuel of course the beast is believed to use a Duramax diesel engine similar to the ones inside Chevy and GMC is most powerful full-size heavy-duty pickup trucks diesel engines are known for the durability and this is especially important if you're designing a vehicle to withstand chemical attack gunfire and more in addition diesel fuel is less volatile than other fuel types which produces at the risk of explosions it's also readily available all over the world which makes it handy for traveling and just in case someone takes aim at the fuel truck with enough force to cause even diesel to explode they'd have to first penetrate the tank itself under its armored plating it's filled with a special foam which prevents it from exploding even under direct fire trunk full of blood some of us store a lot of literal junk in our trunks empty water bottles spare pairs of shoes and those canvas shopping bags we always forget to take in the store with us our frequently seen in our cars we've heard of the belly of the beast but it's the trunk of this space that store some items that could prove essential in case of an attack we know that there are weapons and oxygen in the tank already but what else would you need in an emergency here's a hint you have some running through your veins right now truck full of blood sounds like an awesome death metal album but it's actually an accurate description of the beast in case of an emergency blood transfusion the trunk is chocked full of blood in the president's preferred blood type specially trained drivers having the most indestructible and powerful vehicle in the world doesn't do a lot of good if you don't have anybody to drive it and you need more than a squeaky clean driving record to qualify for this position to start out with you need to be a member of the Secret Service while details of their training is kept classified for obvious reasons we do know some of the skills they need to learn and they're straight out of a Bond movie you've heard of defensive driving but these agents learn offensive driving they need to be able to master ramming other vehicles without putting their passengers or themselves at risk just in case they need to make a hasty retreat they learn to reverse at high speeds and perfect the 180 degrees j-turn the driver needs to learn to think of their vehicle as a weapon without resorting to stepping out of it and engaging in a gun fight and because only the driver side window is capable of opening they have the most important job of all placing the drive through order at Taco Bell tires in action movies it seems like tires are always the place for bad guys aim for and something as simple as a carefully placed spike trap can derail a normal vehicle no matter how large there's no thorn in the paw for this beast though its tires are gigantic and reinforced by the Kevlar the same material used to make bulletproof vests they're resistant to shredding and punctures and are what's known as run-flat tires which means that you can continue to drive on them for a period of time even if the tire goes flat the steel rims are also reinforced to help the vehicle make it to safety in the event of an emergency after all it'd be rather embarrassing for the President of the United States to be seen waiting on the side of the road while someone changes his tire it comes with an airplane while we look for cars that come with luxury features such as Bluetooth satellite radio or extra cupholders Trump's vehicle comes with a luxury you can afford its own airplane the plane is a high wing 4 engine detailed military transport aircraft known as a c-17 Globemaster manufactured by Boeing this massive aircraft is large enough to accommodate a heavily armored suburban communications vehicle known as Roadrunner a second limo and of course the Beast itself the roadrunner is said to act as a mobile communications office and is linked to a military satellite the plane is designed to transport massive quantities of cargo incredibly long distances even in unpredictable weather conditions turbulence is no trouble for this behemoth of the skies it's military-grade and features four pratt & whitney pw4000 it produces 40,000 440 pounds of thrust other accessories as of all the other mind-blowing features we mentioned weren't enough the beast has a special set of unique accessories these tactical items would be at home in any secret agents toolkit it's outfitted with a night-vision camera perfect for driving in any condition or is taking out your trash cans to see if it's the raccoon or your neighbor's dog that keeps knocking them over well we've already gone over most of the weapons inside the beast there is one we haven't mentioned it's known as the nuclear football and it's in the Beast anytime trump is carried by one of his military aides this enables him to order a nuclear strike within 15 minutes most of us for probably picturing a big red button that says do not press but it's actually equipment and authentification paperwork the suspension has been upgraded from previous models and provides protection against roadside bombs and speed bumps we're unfortunately not kidding about the speed bump thing as it's actually been a major issue for past presidential vehicles now we're not suggesting you start a career of Breaking and Entering but we bet you've thought about the security behind some very impressive houses once in a while don't worry you're not alone staring up at those impressive wrought iron fences is enough to make us wonder just what other precautions are being used to stop us peasants from crossing the gates but we're here to let you know we put together a list of 10 of the most secure homes in the world to show you exactly what lengths the world's elite have gone to if you do manage to get inside any of these houses there's a chance you'll get stuck many of these houses have impressive security functions that can trap you forever so to ensure you've got something to do while you're stuck make sure to click Subscribe before we begin so you've got something to watch inside the most luxurious properties ryong some residents you wouldn't necessarily think you'd require a lot of security when you're in charge of one of the most feared countries in the world but ryong some residents in North Korea is pretty darn secure it's the main residence for the royal family and sits in the northern region of the country not only does it have luxurious interiors but it's also one of the most secure locations in the world obviously being such a secretive country must come with matching security precautions and so it's not too much of a surprise to hear of the lengths Kim jong-un has gone to in order to keep him self safe at home along with your standard security ryong some residents is surrounded by an electric fence armed guards and minefields the walls are protected with iron rods and lead covered concrete in order to protect it from even nuclear assaults if disaster were to strike and the family had to get to safety quickly an underground tunnel connects the house to the other royal residence Shang ji-yong house or residence number 26 as it's also known however it's unlikely that anyone would try and break in because if someone were to pass through all of the security checkpoints they'd find themselves facing a variety of dangerous substances anyway Fairfield estate the Hamptons are where the richest of the rich hang out over summer and with all that cash lying around it's no wonder that they have the security measures in place to protect it the Fairfield estate is one of the most secure in the whole area it's owned by the billionaire IRA Renard who made some of his massive fortune collecting art some of his favorite works are dotted around the estate at a total value of more than five hundred million dollars the estate itself is worth an estimated two hundred million dollars making it arguably the most expensive house in the United States so it's only right that the billionaire only wanted the best of the best security to protect his fortune the estate is fronted with an incredibly high-tech security gate meaning that only those invited are even capable of setting foot on the grounds let alone the actual buildings it has bulletproof windows and enough security cameras to make you think twice about stepping foot on the property without an explicit invitation IRA considered security a huge priority when it came to purchasing his new home and we wish we knew just how much it's costing him to make sure none of his reported 21 bedrooms get broken into the zombie bunker admittedly it's not a problem we've come across yet but have you considered how your home would bear if zombies were to attack welcome to the zombie bunker the world's first zombie proof house just in case you know zombies do eventually decide to take over the world even the windows are backed up with a thick layer of concrete although somehow the entire house still has moveable walls you might wonder what the need for this was but with a drawbridge entry system into the house it's clear the architects wanted to risk nothing when it came to keeping us safe in fact this drawbridge is the only way to enter and exit the house which means that if you need to leave in a rush you might have to prepare in advance who knows what these zombies are capable of the house is backed up with a thick sheet of iron tube so there's definitely no chance of sneaking in we're knocking the walls down without somebody noticing the zombie bunker isn't the most aesthetic building we've ever seen but there's no doubt about its safety precautions we're not expecting to be overrun with zombies any time soon but if it does happen we know where we'll be turning to Bill Gates his security team is thought to be pretty friendly but we still wouldn't take the risk of breaking into Bill Gates's house anytime soon with one of the most expensive properties in the world and a background in technology it's only expected that he would have the high-tech measures to match aside from frequent cameras bill had a smart idea when it came to protecting his home without running up his electricity bill too much he grew plants and trees all the way around the entire property not only does this stop snap happy photographers from getting too close but it also works to alert bill if anyone is trying to jump the fence the house is reported to have one of the most state-of-the-art security systems in the world with no expense spared the multiple cameras and security precautions means bill likely lives in one of the safest places ever when he has guests over if they're required to wear a special pin that lets them control the heating and surrounding electrical equipment this means that anybody who turns up unwelcome will be spotted a mile away because of his background it's only natural that bill would control his security with specialist technology but we're pretty impressed all the same the White House did you know that Barack Obama was the most heavily guarded President on earth the White House therefore has almost every safety feature you could think of for a start an iron fence surrounds the property this might seem fairly standard but the fence is far out enough to minimize the impact of dangerous cars dotted around inside and outside the fence are members of the Secret Service who dedicate their lives to making sure the White House is only open to the kind of visitors they want on-site the president's house also has a pretty specialized feature of food scanners which is actually off-site this means that if anything is planted inside dinner tonight it can be safely detonated out of harm's way unlike the majority of the rest of the USA and the world actually the White House even controls the air restricted air space means helicopters can't come too close and in the last few years the area has been expanded for extra precaution but just in case you've managed to get this close without being stopped and thoroughly searched the house also has bulletproof windows radars on the rooftops to detect unwanted movement and infrared sensors that can detect local movement by heat the corby family based in the Hollywood Hills of California the Corby family are known for their excessive and expensive security precautions the millionaire family and their luxury residents are pretty well protected with everything from biometric recognition software to earthquake prevention techniques it's pretty common to build earthquake proof houses around the United States but the Corby family's house is built with concrete structures which were buried about 30 feet underground along with natural disasters the house is also prepared in the event of man-made disasters like nuclear or chemical issues an underground bunker was built and holds enough food and drink to keep a family alive for three to six months now that puts your freezer stocks to shame in an effort to be one of the most technologically secure houses in the world the Corby family even have a telephone system that can be used everywhere inside meaning that if an intruder entered they could communicate without ever having to divulge whereabouts in the property they were hiding most likely they would be hiding in the well-stocked panic room which has a variety of CCTV cameras and can connect to the local police at the touch of a few buttons but the most impressive feature the Corby household as the means to release fog into the property to scare off burglars which sounds great until somebody accidentally pulls it and scares everyone Buckingham Palace it's a hugely popular tourist trap and so it's a known fact that Buckingham Palace in London England has a lot of security measures if you're looking to visit if you've seen the famous changing of the guards you'll know that a few roads surrounding the palace are closed off each time but recently armed police have extended the no-go area and have stepped up their presence to ensure the changing goes along smoothly buckingham palace is known for its security measures but for very good reason famously a few people have tried to scale the building in order to break in and one guy called Michael Fagan actually got in and had a quick look around once luckily it hasn't happened again since the guards carry out a ring around system to make sure that nobody sleeps through their shifts obviously if you're working late at night and there's not much going on it can be easy to let your eyelids droop but the system works to stop this for example guard a wood ring guard B who would ring guard C and so on until the entire property had been covered and everybody was keeping an eye out for intruders the Kardashians after the incident in Paris last year it's no revelation to hear that Kim Kardashian has stepped up security everywhere she goes from firing her bodyguard of four years Pascal to veer to increasing the security in her own house she's not about to be taking any more risks the security team Manning the property were all subject to intense background checks and only the very best of the best were hired but for those who wish to enter the house more than a quick chat is needed visitors have to be patted down by a member of the security team to ensure that only pre-approved visitors can come in surrounding the house is also a variety of cars since the incident last year Kim Kardashian is cautious of people following her instead of driving one car mixes up each journey so that no one is able to follow her footsteps multiple security cameras and motion sensors surround the property and rumor has it there's a safe room just in case anything goes wrong the state-of-the-art security system has impressive alarms for every eventuality and is thought that the property is almost as secure as Fort Knox although that might just be a threat to keep everyone out maximum security mansion it's not the most pretentious name for a house we've come across but the maximum security mansion in Evergreen Colorado is definitely one of the most heavily protected as the name would suggest the 32 acre property has a six million dollar security system that puts almost all other houses to shame one very impressive feature about this house is that you can check up on it from anywhere in the world the cameras surrounding it show both the interior and the exterior of the property and can be viewed by anybody with an Apple phone assuming they've got the login details and the acceptance from the security team first we're guessing be careful if you're considering breaking and entering this house there's definitely something you should know the property has impressive thermal imaging so any hand prints can be checked and identified up to 20 minutes after they've been made and on the slim chance you're considering flooding the place in order to hide your identity don't assume you'll be in the clear along with super sensors to detect almost anything the home is able to tell if there's been a water leak including anything from the bathroom to accidental or intentional floods Kronstadt Fort Alexander won the whole point of Kronstadt Fort Alexander one was to keep people away from Saint Petersburg in Russia which is one of the reasons as to why you will probably never be able to get close to the property there are over 40 forts in the area and Kronstadt Fort Alexander one is one of the most secure the area has been subbed two attacks in the past but eventually everyone seems to have given up Kronstadt Fort Alexander one is just a little bit too secured for anybody to bother making enough effort the military installation has 12 meter long piles that dig deep into the ocean to reinforce the top of the property it's so secure in fact that there are five thousand five hundred and thirty five of these piles it's not likely to be knocked over is basically what we're saying on top of these piles are many layers which act as further reinforcement the first layer is sand followed by concrete and topped with granite even if you could dig through the sand layer you probably wouldn't get much further the fort definitely served its purpose during the olden times and although now it's technically abandoned it's not somewhere you could visit for a day trip whilst in the area even if you really tried your best whenever you think about a legendary lost world you probably imagine an island full of dinosaurs or a forgotten city populated by an ancient alien race of super beings but what have we told you there were lost worlds dotting each continent hidden by natural barriers and hosting prehistoric plant and wildlife the hub knows where to find these beautiful and forbidden locations so pull out your binoculars and take a deep look at the most amazing lost worlds on earth while you watch click on the subscribe button to discover more lost civilizations on the hub movi 'la cave deep in romania an ancient cavern lies isolated from the rest of the world mobile a cave is wedged within a barren wasteland between the Black Sea and Bulgaria while this seems to be the perfect fantasy setting for a hero's discovery of a mystical sword or magical spell book Moe Vila holds a much more enticing treasure isolated from the rest of the surrounding Romanian environment the organisms in this cave have evolved on their own with never-before-seen forms of insects new strains of bacteria in a thick gaseous air-quality found by communists developers in the 1980's these researchers were looking for a site on which to build a power plant when they found the revolutionary cave once discovered the area was cordoned off by the local government and limited to select scientists to study this untouched and alien interior to enter the cave researchers must shimmy down a thin limestone causeway which leads to a pitch-black underground lake naturally heated at 77 degrees Fahrenheit with the long winding tunnels smelly sulfinic water and a solid film of floating bacteria the cave has no in interaction with the outside world self-sustainable it's been around long before us and we'll be around a long time from now lake vostok in antarctica lies a great lake that's nearly as big as Lake Ontario but much much deeper with some portions extending downward at two and a half miles this extreme body of water has been in case in layers of thick ice for at least 15 million years organic samples taken from Lake Vostok contain never-before-seen strands of DNA and evidence of life heretofore undiscovered like the life-forms in Mobile a cave the organisms found thriving in Lake Vostok are believed to derive energy from chemicals in the lakes bedrock they're able to sustain themselves without receiving sunlight from the surface scientists believe that these creatures ability to live in such a harsh environment lends hope to those searching for life on the frozen moons of Titan and Europa as well as other nearby planets all the water filling this largest of lakes comes from the above ice sheet there are no underground tributaries leading into this lake hundreds of feet thick the layers of dense ice actually cover flowing liquid researchers believe that the lake has kept from freezing solid thanks to geothermal vents heating the bedrock and possibly providing a source for life at the lakes bottom Sun doen cave Viet Nam's some doom cave is considered the largest in the world discovered in 2009 this partially submerged and vegetation filled hideaway looks like the land that time forgot it's a vibrant and secluded movie set without cameras created between 2 to 5 million years ago and edged out of the surrounding limestone the words Sun doom are Vietnamese for sunken water cave which is an appropriate title for the exotic and extensive tunnels with cathedral-like ceilings and openings that let dazzling rays of sunlight pour through located deep in the Anna might mountains Sun dune is part of a web-like network of walkways edged into the crust the British excavators who first traveled into Sun dune were able to explore four kilometres of the cave before reaching a 200 foot tall mud barrier dubbed the great wall of Vietnam by the team it took the team another year before they could climb over the wall and move forward seeing thin shallow cosway's with just enough room for the human body to squeeze through followed by large chasms with the space to store a passenger jet after the Asian and Indian tectonic plates crashed into each other millions of years ago flowing water carved countless caves into the limestone but some doom is considered by many to be the most scenic challenger deep mariana trench at 7 miles the challenger deep inside the Mariana Trench is the lowest point in Earth's crust wedged into the Pacific Ocean between the Philippines and the Mariana Islands this underwater Canyon is 1500 miles long and 43 miles wide originally charted by the HMS challenger in 1875 the cartographers aboard this British ship used a weighted rope to find just how deep the trench extended wrapped in darkness with barely above freezing temperatures and a pressure a thousand times more compact than ours above sea level the trenches ability to support life is up for debate we've seen teeming undersea life gathered around black vents a meeting heat from the magma filled mantle and other deep spots of the ocean so why couldn't it happen in the Challenger Deep one of the few times that expedition was mounted to reach the bottom of the trench was in 1960 when Jacques Piccard and Don Walsh traversed to the bottom in a navy submersible for 20 minutes and observed a flatfish near there floodlights some scientists believe the card saw a CQ cumber as the pressure at that depth would crush the bones of any known land animals as more submersibles explore the trench we may find more exotic examples of life in the deep black sea east Scotia Ridge East Scotia Ridge is another underwater hotspot but this one is full of life a mile and a half beneath the sea around Antarctica the waters around these geothermal vents often heat up to 700 degrees Fahrenheit while that's enough to cook seafood in your kitchen it's provided incredible biodiversity to this area with hairy crustaceans called Yeti crabs and pale white octopi who don't have any hue due to the intense darkness in the area formed 60 to 90 million years ago when two tectonic plates collided the waters contain a diverse mixture of elements and yet the animals that swarm in this area have evolved to thrive in this chaotic and highly pressurized aquatic neighborhood the hair of the Yeti crabs for instance are equipped to foster microorganisms that purify the chemicals in the surrounding water allowing the crabs to survive and easily navigate the black seas with these ancient and oftentimes untouched species scientists have the chance to monitor the lifestyles of organisms existing in similar fashions to the first animals that popped up on earth this ecosystem promises to shed light on the past even when no sunlight can reach it symma humboldt in south america sinkholes Pierce plateaus of Guiana one of the largest is simha Humboldt a pock mark with a deep cut pit first discovered by outsiders in 1961 the initial exploration of these holes was undertaken in 1974 this team encountered complications soon during their descent the deeper into the sinkhole they descended the wider the walls extended outward in a concave cone fashion that made it very difficult to scale once they reached the bottom of the cavern the team cut down trees to allow enough space for a helicopter to land through in the process unfortunately the climbers ended up destroying previously unknown plant species that may never again be fully documented in order to clear enough space for the helicopter to lower into the pit to retrieve them when they return to the sinkhole they were more prepared which was good since the ruling government aiming to protect the area only gives out limited work permits for study alongside other smaller sinkholes these are referred to by locals as the islands within Island because their ecosystems can be very different even though they're only about a half mile away from each other melville range by the 21st century our world seems like it's well mapped out but amazingly certain lush environments are too overgrown to be completely charted the area around Melville range however was only explored more extensively within the past several years surrounded by a wall of massive boulders each usually five to ten times the size of a human these giant rocks have protected the inner wildlife like skin and bones around vital organs wildfires floods and other disasters haven't been able to penetrate this walled natural fortress and as a result this portion of the jungle has been allowed to grow and evolve unimpeded one of the most intriguing new species discovered in this area has been the leaf-tailed gecko like the green gecko we see selling insurance on television commercials this animal probably also has an Australian accent but that's where the similarities stop amazingly it's evolved with a rigid tail that exactly matches the crinkled look of local leaves with a camouflaging skin color ability this gecko will be able to use his hiding abilities to survive for many more years just like the Melville Range itself with further expeditions indicate Melville being planned there's much more opportunity for discovery on the horizon palawan Highlands in the Philippines the Palau and Highlands are as beautiful and mysterious on the outside as their natural inhabitants can be deadly they contain the normal animal populations you would expect to see in a jungle on the island nation but it's also been found to have enormous pitcher plants these giant bowl shaped plants lie with their mouths like openings facing skyward waiting for some unfortunate creature to land near them like venus flytraps these green monsters will catch and eat whatever comes their way whether it be rats or small monkeys this newly discovered form of pitcher plant has been coined the scientific name of Nepenthes adam bori i in honour of famous naturalist David Attenborough another brand of pitcher plant was also discovered on the same remote mountaintop not observed in nature for over a century with the only known specimen ruined in a greenhouse fire around the same time of World War two in addition to the diverse carnivorous plant population researchers discovered new strains of neon blue mushrooms and vibrantly pink fauna the Palau and Highlands isolated from humanity have been allowed to grow up beautifully dangerous biome with much more hidden wonders to discover foe ha mountains a little over a decade ago an official expedition first set foot in the fauxhawk mountains of New Guinea and came back with evidence of new birds amphibians and marsupials uninhibited by the development world this small swath of mountains has fostered for instance the orange face honey eater which is the first flying animal discovered in the area in over half a century the golden mantle tree kangaroo was also discovered in the area and it's a rare find this mammal resides mostly in the tree branches of these mountains higher altitude and limited to the fauxhawk mountains and Torricelli's islands nearby it's unfortunately close to extinction according to the vp of the local Center for biodiversity conservation fo ha is as close to the Garden of Eden as you're going to find on earth and he marveled at the amount of other species that flourished here while similar animals struggled for survival elsewhere in the world like a Brower bird with tower-like nests and a beaked mammal who lays eggs as this area of land is Asia's biggest tract of untouched jungle hopefully it will stay as astoundingly full of life for years to come mount Roraima plateauing into the sky like a giant table for the gods mount Roraima is one of several flat highlands piercing the cloud cover in many breathtaking images this raised platform looks like a substitute for heaven and isolated atop this rock with the sky at eye level and the entire world many many feet below you it would be hard not to get a god complex this jewel of the pack of ìiím a mountain range is ancient at 2 billion years old it's among the oldest rock formations on earth and it's an important part of the heritage of South America as a whole not just because of its size but because it falls on the border of three separate countries GU Yana Brazil and Venezuela beyond its sheer beauty mount Roraima has been able to stay relevant thanks to its cameo in Pixar's hit film up although the top of Roraima is fully isolated from the rainforest below daily precipitation allows ever cascading waterfalls and periodic Bush vegetation that would be more at home on a fantasy-themed Lisa Frank folder than in real life please note that as enticing as the images of Roraima are it's difficult to access these plateaus and ex climbing skills are required to scale those rocky walls many of these exotic and secluded sites are hard to find and even harder to visit first-hand protected by bodies of water natural rock barriers government orders or harsher elements these places have thrived for millions of years thanks in large part to their isolation and while we may be disappointed over the decreased chances we haven't seen these locations in person we can at least celebrate the beauty of these images online there are around six and a half thousand languages in the world so it's a wonder we managed to talk to each other at all it can be scary and confusing when you turn up in a foreign country and you can't even read the signs let alone talk to people but there is one language we all understand some of the language of the body you can spot a bad date from a mile away as the two people sit their arms cross and not making eye contact we can read confidence shyness and well that person just means the bathroom so come find out what your body language gives away your body can communicate directly with the hub all you need to do is rub us lovingly on the subscribe button to show us that you care not too hard now we're ticklish eye contact they say that the eyes are the window to the soul so anyone who stares lovingly into them is actually just a peeping tom how your eyes meet with other eyes normally is an indication of confidence interest and honesty it's supposed to be one of the most important factors in giving a great job interview if you turn up and stare at the floor you're unlikely to get hired unless you're applying for floor technician in which case you're hired but be careful not to overdo it good strong eye contact is one thing a hard stare is another this is not universal though in areas like Eastern Europe it's fairly normal to have people stare at you on public transport they are not being creepy or aggressive as people would assume in the UK or us and it's fairly normal male legs for many parts of the day our legs main job is to get us from point A to point B and to stop us falling off our chairs again but when they're not stuffed under a desk or bouncing along the pavement they can reveal your personality type for men the classic manspreading shows a dominant person someone who likes to be in charge and show everyone who's boss they're the kind of people who give themselves you demand pep talks in the mirror every morning in most European and Asian countries men often sit with their left leg cross over their right with both pointing downwards in the US this would probably indicate a closed nature but if one leg is horizontal with the ankle resting over the knee then this is a confident and often argumentative pose imagine if you will a smug yoga teacher who is explaining why you shouldn't eat gluten female legs female leg position has obviously been influenced by clothing so a leg spread is pretty rare because it's seen as impolite in many cultures as a result most female leg poses involve the legs being together but there's still plenty of variety in there the more closed form is when one foot wraps around the back of the other leg this is called an ankle law in both men and women it's a sign of repression or fear a study show that 88% of people lock their ankles when sitting in a dental chair to have a procedure only 68% did it for just a checkup the female power pose is both legs together in parallel and tilted to a slight angle it shows control and is often used in fashion modeling it also makes women look more like mermaid and who wouldn't want that playing with hair meds don't often play with their hair but this is likely due to having less of it since you see plenty of little boys doing it running your hands through your hair especially taking hair away from your face is often seen as flirtatious and open since you are showing you are happy with your appearance the most extreme of these is tossing your head back and shaking out your hair but it can also make you look like you're auditioning for a shampoo advert playing with hair is not always a good sign no holding hair indicates awkwardness and nervousness so make sure that your hands don't linger too long in your locs a good contrast is someone curling their hair around a finger it can be flirtatious or done as a way to relax but if the hair is held by one hand and twirled by another it's a much more nervous signal drumming fingers we fidget from time to time in a variety of different ways there's the various hair flicks and twirls we mentioned before there's nail biting head scratching mouth wriggling and the list goes on but most of these are unobtrusive after all you would notice them unless you were looking at the person however finger drumming is a loud and obvious message it broadcasts your impatience or frustration across the whole room and you often don't realize you're doing it in types of stress or long waits many people drum their fingertips on the desk or the table it's also very common to use an object like a pen or even the back of your phone for a lot of people its subconscious in which case it's a sign of nerves in short your body doesn't know what to do with itself but it can be used consciously often by more dominant people to show that they are not happy with the current situation arms and hands the most common body language signal of all is crossing your arms you don't need to be a psychologist to know what it means it's probably one of the first major signals that children learn to read in fact in every kid's cartoon a parent with their arms crossed is a sign of big trouble however if your arms are crossed behind your back the meaning is reversed shyness turns to fearlessness anger becomes calm although if you just committed a crime this gesture probably means you're being arrested positive hand gestures include such things as rubbing your palms together this shows that you're expecting a good outcome holding your palms open facing up makes you more trustworthy since you are showing you have nothing hidden in them where you point your body when it comes to body language your chest is basically a big arrow so where you are pointing it indicates where your interest lies in a meeting anyone whose chest is pointed away from the meeting is either not interested or disagrees with what's being said being bent forward with the chest aiming down is a sign of being guarded you're not committing one way or the other it's a good indicator of romance to people who connect well and are interested in each other will naturally be drawn to face each other so if you're on a cinema date and they're leaning on the far armrest there's probably no Hollywood happy ending for you if you're at a party it's a good way to pick out who is interested in who people's heads will turn towards whoever is talking but their body often indicates who they are truly wanting to listen to shaking hands there's a lot of science involved in a simple handshake actually they can be confusing for people from Asian cultures where this kind of body contact is pretty uncommon there are many factors in a handshake the pressure the angle what you do with your other hands no one likes a weak handshake where it feels like you're waggling an old fish around it implies a lack of determination and commitment when it comes to your free hand there are a number of different positions using it to cut the hand from beneath in a two-handed shake show sincerity and a desire for closeness but cupping from above shows dominance as you are trapping their hand between yours gripping the upper arm while shaking hands is also supposed to show together this it has become synonymous with politicians which gives it a slightly fake feel now lying lying is a skill that takes practice we're not saying that you should practice but if you want anyone to believe all those things you wrote on your resume well it's in your own hands lack of eye contact is a typical sign of dishonesty if your eyes go up to the right it implies we're using your imagination not your memory so you are making something up another sign of lying is a dry mouth so look out for people licking their lips or swallowing strangely in ancient China they actually had a test where the accused would hold a handful of dried rice in their mouth for a few minutes when they spat it out if it was still dry they were said to be lying flirting in a perfect world you could just walk up to anyone you found attractive and tell them if they feel the same you'd go out if they don't you just say thank you and goodbye see easy but life doesn't work like this and we have created an incredibly complicated dance around one person liking another birds display bright feathers Lions control attractive territory and humans accidentally say thank you too many times and try to find genes without cake stains on them a common tactic you see and flirting guides is to mimic the other person's posture or even mannerism since this shows you are on their wavelength just hope you're both and not trying to do this at the same time or it will turn into a weird mirror dance remember much like spoken language body language can easily be misunderstood some people might cross their arms because they're cold not because they're defensive to make it easier always wear a t-shirt with your current mood written on it in big letters we may know that some of our favorite foods aren't the healthiest but you might not have realized just what your snack of choice actually contains from bugs to cleaning chemicals the hub is here today to make you think twice about some of the most common foods around we here at the hub like to keep you in the know about everything important to make sure you don't miss out on the rest of our great videos make sure to click the red subscribe button below marshmallows they might just seem like something we enjoy eating over an open fire we're in s'mores once the weather gets colder but this winter you might think twice about grabbing a packet of marshmallows from the store once you've heard what they're actually made out of marshmallows are typically made out of gelatin egg whites and sugar which sounds innocent enough but once you dig a little deeper you'll realize that gelatin has more to it than you might have thought it's typically made out of pig skin but also contains elements of animal bone and hide and occasionally fish bones and skin too but it is possible to buy kosher gelatin or vegetarian gelatin kosher gelatin is instead made from fish room it's well the vegetarian variety is usually made with agar sugar instead which is natural and fully free from animal parts but because marshmallows are so popular the most common type on the market usually includes gelatin and you might struggle to find those variations without gelatin has also found in some other sweet foods that you might not expected like ice cream and yogurt but in terms of percentages there's definitely more pig remains in marshmallows than either of those last two items maybe if you're a vegetarian or donate animals for other reasons you should just stick to different types of candy Pringles you might think that like most chips Pringles are made from potato well we're here today to tell you that there's barely any actual potato in your favorite crisps and you might be surprised as to what they're actually made out of in fact the tiny percentage of potato and Pringles mean they can't actually be called potato chips but that's probably what you still know the mass Pringles are made up of a blended combination of wheat rice corn and potato flakes but sadly this doesn't mean they're good for your digestive system or full of fiber especially with the high fat content once this mixture has been pressed together into form of dough it's pushed out icing style into tiny shapes on the industrial sized baking tray if you weren't convinced by now that Pringles offer no nutritional benefit consider this next part they're covered in oil and heated to a crisp pressed in the correct size and then basically blow-dried with powder flavorings then they're stacked into piles and pushed out of the supermarket's all around the world while these innocent potatoes might have once had some nutritional benefit sadly now they're nothing but a salty snack but we know we'll still reach for them occasionally shredded cheese it goes great on homemade pizza it can be added to pasta as an easy dinner or maybe you might even eat it by the handful as a snack if you do the latter you're not alone we promise you but have you ever wondered how shredded cheese stays in that format if you know anything about cheese at all then you'll know it has a low melting point which is partially why we love it so much as an accompaniment to basically every food but the reason why it doesn't melt easily isn't just because you've been storing in the refrigerator correctly because if you've ever accidentally left it out overnight you'll realize it still doesn't melt and there's something a bit strange there and you guessed it the reason is one of main ingredients and we bet you can't get what it is the proper name for the substance that keeps shredded cheese and it's shredded format is cellulose but when you pick the scientific term apart you'll realize what you're actually eating is would pull yeah that's right powdered wood pulp this is actually thought to be an advantage over other products because it's natural and repels moisture this means that food manufacturers are using wood pulp instead of artificial ingredients because they think it's better for us gummy worms gummy worms are one of the oldest sweets around that we still enjoy today although you might think twice it after finishing this video gummy candies were created in the early 1920s by a German candy maker and the gummy worm was thought to be developed in the 1980s the first brain to do so was called trolley which you'll no doubt have enjoyed in your younger years and possibly still today truly set out to make a scene with everyone the brand wanted to simultaneously shock parents with the colours of the sweets and attract children with them and they succeeded you might not be surprised to hear that gummy worms are made with gelatin so we won't bore you with another reminder of the pig skin bone and cartilage that makes it up nope with gummy worms we're gonna focus on the colorings two colors in particular known as yellow and number 5 in red number 40 have been banned by many governments around the world but are somehow still allowed by the USA not only have they been linked to hyperactivity and children but they also contain carcinogenic compounds which can cause cancer a lot of gummy worms only contain natural flavorings now but you'll have to check the labels to be sure canned mushrooms we don't imagine canned mushrooms are a popular element of your diet but if they were before then we're sorry because we don't think they will be for much longer fresh mushrooms like most fresh foods are definitely healthier but they're also unlikely to contain small guests you heard us right there because canned mushrooms often come with maggots in the can and the worst part of it all is that it's fine by our government standards you see mushrooms are fungus and so it's only right that fungus attracts maggots but what you might not think you're so right is that we're just supposed to pick the maggots out of the can and pretend they're not there we don't know about you but finding maggots in a can holding is definitely a problem for us the reason behind the FDA thinking maggots are a fine accompaniment is because apparently it would be impractical to buy or harvest raw products they're entirely free of unavoidable defects as a result the FDA allows 19 maggots in 74 mites and every three and a half ounce can of mushrooms so if you're counting it out and find 20 maggots you're allowed to complain to the store but any less than that and you'll have to make do were afraid ground beef a lot of people aren't keep on ground beef because it's weird color and shape and we can't blame them ground beef can vary depending on the source if you're buying it from a butcher or organic store then it's highly likely that your beef will be nothing but well beef but sadly this isn't always the case if you're buying your ground beef from a supermarket then you'll probably find that although it's made up of one animal it's not just the nice parts you'll be making into a patty it's here where the problems live there are two main things in cheap beef that you might have not have been aware of firstly if you've ever wondered why it's such a bright color it's due to nitrogen this and carbon dioxide are added to the meat to give it the desirable color however it does mess with our perception of it being fresh so you'll still have to give it a sniff the second thing you might find is bacteria when ground beef is made it can come from many different cuts or sources these have all been traced in track this also means you're far more likely to accidentally leave some a coli or Salmonella lurking in its red depths chewing gum before World War one chewing gum was most commonly seen in the form of chicle mixed with flavorings this weird sounding food was a form of latex app from the Sapodilla tree in Central America so it was basically a form of rubber after the war chemists figure out how to replace chicle with a new replacement which is where the gross elements come in chicle was replaced with the substance called lanolin which might sound more chemical based than it actually is lanolin is a waxy secretion that comes from the sebaceous glands of the skin of sheep in its natural form it has a good use which is to keep sheepskin waterproof now most of the time is generally used in sheep products but every so often it's used in chewing gum to don't go looking on the label for sheep products because you won't find it there it's considered to be part of the natural chewable part of gum and as as a result not listed sure you might see a few gum bass phrases but you'll never actually see the word lanolin on your wrapper it's perfectly natural but pretty gross bread one of the best comfort foods out there is the simple loaf of bread spread peanut butter and jelly on it for a great sandwich or toast it with cheese for the ultimate easy dinner but our honest loaf of bread might not be so honest after all sure it might be made up of a few basic ingredients but bread bought from supermarkets often includes ingredients that aren't listed or that aren't specifically included to improve the taste one of the most important factors when it comes to creating mass production food is how good it looks consumers are very visual and are far more likely to buy a loaf of bread if it looks good even if the slightly wonky one next to it has a better value or nicer ingredients so you might not be so surprised after all to hear that lots of read contains chlorine you might associate that chemical with swimming pools and disinfectant but chlorine has been added to bread for years to give it that nice bleached appearance that we're all used to it in small doses it's very unlikely to harm us but taking in a lot of chlorine is undoubtedly dangerous for humans especially long-term it's not only used in bread but also another flour based products like cookies pasta donuts in cereal red dye red food coloring has had its fair share of problems over the years first there was red number 40 which was banned internationally as we've already listed and now there's a natural red dye but we're not so sure if we're a fan of that one either because we can't complain this red dye is unnatural but the problem is that it's a little too close to home and in our opinion a little too natural you'll find natural red dye most commonly in sweet things like red velvet cupcakes but there's nothing velvety about this natural color because it's made of crushed bugs that's right real insects are using some of our favorite foods they're known scientifically as cochineal insects and their pre crush state look absolutely disgusting we couldn't imagine them in our snack foods which is probably why they're kept fairly low-key these bugs spend their lives in the prickly pear captain north america and produce a bitter crimson color pigment called carminic acid which they used to keep unwanted predators away when they're crushed they're mixed with water which provides the bright red shade we associate so closely with common sweets chocolate if you're a particularly fussy eater you might have somehow managed to get through this list relatively unharmed unfortunately we're about to put an end to all of that with her last fact you're probably wondering what could possibly be wrong with chocolate surely it's just made of milk cocoa and a few other ingredients right don't worry you're right but you might occasionally find an extra ingredient once you pull back the wrapper or worse once you've taken a bite chocolate is produced so much and in such great quantities that it's hard to Quality Control all of it so instead of taking extra precautions which you know would be a good thing to do the FDA thinks it's okay to every so often find a rat hair in your chocolate that's correct and if you're eating chocolate now then you might want to take a double-check before your next mouthful the FDA allows one rat hair per 100 grams and six 100 grams sub-samples in chocolate and it's not only chocolate where you might find right now if you're a fan of baking then you'll have to be extra cautious because in every 50 grams of cinnamon and 25 grams of ground pro pica the FDA allows ten rodent hairs with all the talk of Wars and fighting recently it's only natural to get a little worried in the unfortunate truth is that not everyone has access to great security for their homes it can even start to make you wonder about the amount of protection the rich and elite receive and more specifically the most powerful person in the United States the White House has security features that put the rest of the country's homes to shame if your house has even one of these features you should feel pretty safe so without further ado here are the crazy security features in the White House before we learn how safe the most famous home in the United States is be sure and click to subscribe to our Channel it's the only secure way to get new and interesting videos air-defense there are tons of stories and urban legends about the defense of the White House and due to public safety concerns nobody the extreme inner circle will ever know the truth but a few things we definitely do know are that the United States defense budget Dwarfs all other countries in the world and the White House is one of the most protected buildings in the world so after hearing all that finding out that there are anti-aircraft missiles on the roof isn't surprising at all there are even stories about the White House and surrounding areas being protected by an unseen laser weapon as a way to protect against an airplane attack but let's talk about what we know for certain the area above and around the White House is a no-fly zone that means no aircraft can come in the vicinity unless given special permission if anyone gets near the area not only are there Jets on standby but they also have an advanced warning system this visual warning system shines red and green alternating lights that provide a crystal-clear warning to the pilot this isn't being done to blind or hurt the pilot however it's used to simply to tell the plane that they have made a huge mistake into turn back immediately infrared sensors the next security feature on our list isn't super high-tech in fact it's not even that new at all the design behind infrared sensors have actually been used in alarm system since the 1970s but the reason for its inclusion on this list is the sheer size of the application although the exact details aren't known we do know that the White House lawn is an 18 acre plot of land that means that their infrared motion sensors placed around the entirety of the property just waiting for someone to trigger them it's also said that there are pressure trigger alarms placed under the grounds as well so if any bad guy thinks they can avoid the sensor like they're playing a Metal Gear Solid game they need to think again the biggest issue with using a motion sensor outdoors however is the likelihood of causing a false alarm the way infrared works is that it detects human heat sources across its point of view but unfortunately rapidly changing weather conditions can sometimes cause an error in the system however the White House likely experiences very little mistakes with theirs as they of the very latest and expensive version of the system bulletproof windows now we're going from detection to protection every good security system has got to have a way to detect intruders there's no debate there so what happens when somebody is able to either sneak by or attack from a distance in those ultra rare cases it's incredibly important to be protected by the latest technologies take this example from November of 2012 a disturbed man from Idaho shot twice from a high-powered rifle into the White House one bullet missed entirely but the other hit its mark which is shocking to find out once you learned that he was over 2,000 feet away the only issue for this would-be attacker was that the window he hit was reinforced ballistic glass this White House windows security feature was impossible to detect from the outside luckily for all involved the President and Vice President were both out of the country at the time ballistic glass has been installed in the White House in one form or another for years but according to reports was not sufficient from his earliest 1994 after the incident in Oklahoma City the White House and other government facilities have been beefed up to protect against threats the bunker even with all the security features and measures taken to prevent disaster the president has got to have a fail-safe which brings us to the next item on our list the White House bunker we know that in 1987 a secret tunnel was built during the Ronald Reagan presidency to take him directly to an elevator leading to safety she was able to access this by pressing a hidden wall panel that would reveal a staircase leading to the elevator in years before that Franklin Delano Roosevelt had a tunnel leading to the basement of the Treasury Center to protect him from air raids and George W Bush was actually photographed in the presidential Emergency Operations Center shortly after the events of September 11th but even though an underground safety net has been used for years in 2010 a White House construction project had some people curious it was speculated that the project described as a infrastructure systems replacement was actually a new high-tech bunker the project took over two years to complete and was said to be a security related construction oddly enough the exact purpose of this project is still unknown today making the bunker theory carry a lot of weight concrete barriers and closings sometimes the best home defense is the most practical take this next item on our list for example some might equate it to kings and queens of medieval times constructing moats around their castles and they wouldn't be that far off building concrete barriers around the White House has the same purpose as a castle moat to keep invaders out where in medieval times they were protecting against battering rams in modern times they're protecting against ramming cars with concerns about truck bombings taking place overseas the White House did a full overhaul of its entrance in 1983 in in May of 2017 they took the extra step of permanently closing the sidewalks around the White House because hundreds of people crowded the sidewalk every day it made it difficult to identify security threats the sidewalk near the South Lawn was a popular tourist area to take photos because of these closings they'll have to take pictures 25 yards further away well there's always zoom I guess it might be fresh reading if you've taken the time out of your day to go and visit the White House only to find that you can't even get close to it but if it's in the name of safety then we guess that's fair enough the Secret Service the next security measure isn't a technological wonder or sturdy barricade it's the highly trained members of the Secret Service shockingly there are over 3,000 special agents and 1,300 uniformed officers that make up the agency originally formed in 1865 the first purpose of the Secret Service was to investigate forged currency in the Treasury Department by 1902 they had established full-time protection of the President a practice that continues to this day and it's not just the POTUS that gets protected they also provide security for the president's family the Vice President presidential candidates and a lot more as part of their oath Secret Service agents are sworn to protect the president with their life and in some cases they were forced to take action in 1950 for example an agent named Leslie Coffelt was taken down while aiding president harry s truman several other agents have been shot through the years upholding their duty to their country there have recently been more security breaches than normal proving that even the most highly trained agents are human it's a good thing the White House has such a vast system of security features to back them up the Fitz the very first security measure of the White House has evolved more than any other in fact this man-made feature is likely the oldest defense system in the world in 1801 our third President Thomas Jefferson had a post and rail fence built around the White House in the year since that event America has grown and changed but the fence has remained standing and security concerns grew the famous White House fence has changed to keep up with the times for example in 1833 the fence was updated to a heavy wrought iron fence that ran along the top of a stone wall later it was updated to hired to control crowds that gathered outside the home and eventually it was replaced with steel and fitted with anti climb spikes on top it's interesting to review the history of the fence and follow along with the history of the United States every time the u.s. upped its defense budget it seemed as if the wall was modified as well and to add to that a modification was approved for 2018 that will change the wall yet again it will be equipped with anti climb and intrusive detection technology and stand around 11 feet tall that's adding an additional 4 feet no matter what the changes are in the country the fence around the White House is here to stay people screaming and food tasters like a lot of items on this list certain features were added to the White House defense due to changes in the world and after the events of 9/11 this security measure was smartly added the White House began to scream all people entering the building by many methods they now use extensive background checks to ensure individuals aren't entering for nefarious reasons they also subject any person entering the property to Magneto meter screening which is just a fancy way of saying a metal detector and that's not all it makes sense for all people to be checked but there's another way that potential bad guys could affect the people inside as well and that is through food entering the building for hundreds of years people in power have used food tasters to make sure they weren't being sabotaged and the practice still continues to this day in fact there was a report in 2013 in which then President Obama refused to eat at an event because his taste tester wasn't present Secret Service members also take great links to make sure the president's food preparation is clear from tampering they are aided by the fact that each chef and cook that makes the president meals are extensively background-checked as well sometimes the best security features are a mix of the old and new drone warfare the final item on our list is an example of the White House security evolving over time after all if you don't stay modern you open yourself up to disaster by now you know that the White House isn't vulnerable from above and it also can't be penetrated by foot or by vehicle but with the invention of the drone Secret Service agents have to worry about objects that can avoid the high altitude security while remaining above the ground level defenses to this point in January of 2015 a drone actually crashed on the White House lawn although it turned out to just be a hobbyist in no real threat the security team was forced to spring into action to avoid another encounter and what better way to combat drones than to fight fire with fire so the Secret Service now employs drones of their own that survey the White House property these counter drones exist to deactivate or destroy any drone that comes into the restricted area as laws regarding flying drones continue to change and adapt look for the United States to also change their methods as well and that's not all in August of 2017 the Secret Service began to test a new type of surveillance drone that will fly 300 to 400 feet above the president whenever they are outdoors this would mean that the POTUS has a circle of protection around them at all times we've come a long way from Thomas Jefferson's fence war famine asteroid sharknado there are a lot of ways our civilization could be taken out and a global virus or another sharknado sequel could happen at any minute but our long evolution a slog to enlightenment took thousands of generations and it still got a long way to go so barring any unforeseen geo storm we're going to continue heading on our collision course with the future and the hub is here to tell you it's going to be pretty weird a lot could happen in 50 years from 1950 to 2000 weak humans tiptoed around destruction in a worldwide cold war we walked on the face of the moon and we surfed the wave of the Internet into the new millennium this first half of the 21st century promises to be even crazier with thinking vehicles mechanical brains and renewable resources to save our real-world and artificial intelligence to control our virtual world the future is no longer something that will be the future just is and here are the 10 incredible things that will happen before 2050 and to make sure you don't miss all the new wonders our society will have to offer click on the subscribe button before the androids do it for you computerized brains if Walt Disney's head is still frozen somewhere inside an underground vault this would be the perfect opportunity to dust that off Randall Cohn a neuroscientist with funding from a wealthy Russian benefactor is hoping to fully map the brain and all its functions by 2045 his company would then replicate all natural brain functions like lines of code in the matrix from there they hope to give people the opportunity to live forever long after their bodies have decayed eluding consciousness to some kind of neuroscience mainframe is the stuff of best-selling science fiction novels but it could be attainable in the lifetimes of many people around today just imagine experiencing what the world is like in a thousand years code imagines that this resource of mapped brains would allow people to travel to the far reaches of space or travel to microscopic levels people's minds could even be uploaded to cyborgs replications of that person or holograms and maybe if your great-great grandkids are doing a school project on their family tree they could just rent your consciousness from the brain library for two weeks Cohn believes that even if the mapping technology isn't fully developed they'll have created the chemicals needed to preserve brains until the technology is available to take consciousness to next level eradication of poverty the World Bank projected that around 2015 the amount of those in extreme poverty worldwide would be 700 million people that's a huge amount of unfortunate men women and children but thankfully that's a significant decrease from 2012 where the level was at 900 million we should note however that these people are earning less than the incredibly measly amount of the dollar 90 per day which is the global line decided by the World Bank to get these figures incredibly while the world seems like it's becoming a darker and scarier place in today the World Bank projects that extreme poverty may be nearly eradicated by 2050 in fact they believe that only 3 percent of the world population will be living under the extreme poverty line by 2030 by the time that the human population reaches 9 billion people in 2040 - at the same time the world's wealthiest person is expected to become the first trillionaire hopefully global citizens will be more successful than destitute in order to reach the World Bank's 2030 goal a lot of work is required from those with better off financial situations to provide a world with more opportunity and it means that the poverty rate will need to decrease by a percentage point per year to achieve it gender equality as of 2004 experts believed that pay equality would occur by 2050 now that timelines been pushed back to 2050 8 but you never know the topic is a part of our society's collective conversation and perhaps it'll come sooner than 2050 which is nearly a century after JFK's signing of the Equal Pay Act in terms of representation in the workforce Mercer a consulting firm analyzed the trajectory for global gender equality and found that while it wouldn't be Universal change we should see it happen sooner in certain parts of the world before others Latin America will have the quickest rise going from 2015's level of 36 percent equal gender representation in the workforce to 49 percent in 2025 Australia and New Zealand's levels will be close behind that and the u.s. and Canada will follow these two countries with levels of around 40 percent at our current rate of change will also likely see more and more gender-neutral bathrooms before the middle of the century although it won't be a worldwide change by that point it should become less of a hot-button topic a society grows gradually more accepting of these social norms cure for HIV from 2012 to 2014 investments in grants in HIV research rose 82 percent and that is due in no small part to the scientific communities expanding knowledge of the human immunodeficiency virus and ever improving means to stop it since 1985 amfAR has been dedicated to eradicating HIV and AIDS and through their countdown to a cure program they're confident they can develop the means necessary for a cure before 2021 and they're aiming to achieve this goal by strictly focusing their research one of their chief studies focuses on defining the characteristics of cells carrying HIV within a group of other healthy cells to help better stop the infection other studies focus on determining the way a human's DNA impacts the spread of the virus finding which populations may be more or less susceptible to the disease and figuring out which methods are working best so they can focus their efforts on the quickest and safest treatment options and far has not yet committed to curing everyone by the end of 2020 but they believe they'll have the tools to gradually stem the virus and stop it within our lifetime robot novelists Stephen King is so prolific and successful you'd think he's an Android program to create international bestsellers he's not but knows a mr. King it sounds like the perfect subject matter for his next novel although he need to spice up this premise by making the Robo novelist program to write the next great American novel and eliminate the competition okay so we're joking but only kind of because Stephen King himself along with Elon Musk and other creative and tech industry Giants appealed to the robotics community for Responsible engineering in this artificial intelligence boom were living through Google's director of engineering has countered this by predicting that we'll get our first successfully AI generated novel very soon others Scott for the possibility that robots could beat humans at the feeling game but so far we've gotten computer generated songs poems and even a take on the novel writing challenge nanogen MO in which programmers create applications that write creative pieces during the month of November and we all have 2045 to look forward to when the technological singularity occurs and AI surpasses human intelligence safer roads many smart cars are already speeding and swerving safely on the road around us and they've come equipped with safety features that war drivers of nearby cars oncoming traffic and changing lanes certain models even stop short in front of obstacles and if you're lucky they'll leave a parallel park for you by the early 2020s most if not all major car companies will have successfully tested their self driving car prototypes and we should start seeing intelligent vehicles on the market soon communicating with each other driving you to and from work and maybe even escorting you safely home if you've had too much to drink cars at that time will still require supervision from you especially if there's a technical malfunction but by 2035 industry analysts that the Milken Institute predict the auto industry will be entirely automated with no human intervention needed and an entire road network controlled and safeguarded by artificial intelligence if that sounds scary to you at least the air will be cleaner experts project that 7 million electric cars will be produced in on the market by 2020 and that number will shoot up to million by 2050 this dominance of cleaner energy is expected to help reduce worldwide co2 emissions by 30 percent space exploration if you're not a fan of these massive changes happening all around us you can always just move to another planet the idea of colonizing a far-out celestial body may sound too far-fetched to some of you but just consider how far we've come in such a short time in the second half of the 20th century for example we went from being an entirely earthbound species a setting foot on the surface of the Moon to flying man-made machines past the planets of our solar system following in the United States footsteps India will embark on its own man space mission in 2018 China is launching its first space station in 2022 and Russia and China plan to land on the moon in the 2030s in the realm of privatized space flight which is a thing an independent organization will open a space hotel to the super-wealthy as early as 2018 SpaceX an organization run by Elon Musk also has the exclusivity of wealth attached to its program membership but with a more exploratory field sending cargo to the Red Planet in 2024 the company's first manned mission to Mars will depart earth in 2026 and reach the planet in 2027 beating NASA's own plans for a Mars mission by several years renewable energy by 2050 half of the Amazon is expected to be deforested and 70% of the global population will live in cities so we need to come up with ways to keep the air clean and livable outside of abandoning earth for a space of which some colonies are expected to exist on Mars in the moon by the mid 21st century we need an alternative to the polluted present in the next 20 years the UK is expected to fully phase out coal and other countries are following suit while the United States isn't anticipating a full removal of coal from its power grid the US Department of Energy conducted a renewable electricity future study they found that a combination of electric power geothermal hydro power solar power wind turbines and several other methods would make up around 80% of the u.s. power grid over the next 30 years this shift would reduce co2 emissions polluting the earth fear by 80% and wasteful water used by 50% the exhaustive study which analyzed the energy usage and resources spent at 134 different locations in America gives an accurate view of the country's industry and the commitments needed to create a more efficient and clean future augmented reality as computerized world's become more visually detailed in video games grown to complex extensions of our real life The Matrix becomes less and less of a fantasy two of the biggest companies in the world Apple and Google each host their own augmented reality experiences and many different companies are following suit experts predict that programs like Apple's our kit which features the most comprehensive fake world superimposed over the view screen of your iPhone camera will make smartphones even more a part of your daily routine than they already are more interactive and price based gaming will permeate daily life to the point where many businesses will turn to this fantasy rewards-based style of gameplay to give employees a certain level of motivation while working on set projects but beyond unreal adventures industry analysts predict that by 2050 most if not all of Main Street shopping will be a thing of the past online retail will be taken over by three-dimensional virtual reality towards as customers walk through stores while simply wearing special glasses in their home in the future stores like IKEA would be able to give you a virtual tour of your living space with their furniture inserted into it super tall buildings with such a mass exodus expected to flock to the city's construction and architectural companies will need to resort to new designs to fit all these people within the city limits by 2050 most buildings would be run by a smart personality like Siri making it easier for residents to communicate with their landlords and building managers super tall buildings will dominate the skylines and serve as cities within cities as workers create communities in their home lives on various floors and other floors will be dedicated to recreation and entertainment and these buildings will be rapidly constructed thanks to 3d printers which allow for extra parts to be printed as long as the ingredients they're made of don't run out win son a company based out of China was able to 3d print 10 houses in a single day with electrical wiring and outlets as well as pipes included for plumbing and they did it all for the insane low price of five thousand dollars per home add that to robotic exoskeleton suits which allow wearers to exert super-strength and construction crews will be able to build entire cities in weeks let alone months your ancestors used to live in a cave or in some kind of wood hut that only kept out 50% of the rain and about 10 percent of the Bears we've come a long way since then and it's amazing how much variety you see around the world despite every home being designed for exactly the same purpose protection warmth and sleep so today we're looking at some of the coolest most original houses from around the planet to help you forget about the cell of cockroaches and mold that you're currently living in here at the hub we have a welcome mat in front of our house it's small it's red and it says subscribe please wipe your feet on it before you enter the factory Ricardo Bofill from the sale shape W Hotel on Barcelona seafront to the christian dior HQ in the heart of Paris Ricardo Bofill has been the world's most important architect for many years theme is for his brutalist style they use one of his Paris housing estates as a set in The Hunger Games Movies so where does the man himself live well appropriately for a man who has built hundreds of buildings he lives in an old concrete factory although the project started in 1973 it's never really finished since it's an enormous industrial complex that is now used as his offices exhibition space and even a concert hall and although you'd expect it to be grey all over most of the walls and roofs are covered in plants he's taking the idea of living in a concrete jungle very literally hundertwasserhaus the Austrian architect Hundertwasser actually designed a number of factories in Vienna and Japan but you wouldn't want to live in them especially the ones that process sludge but his most famous building is the Hudson Wasser house in central Vienna that he worked on for free just to stop the government building something ugly the building contains 53 apartments and it looks like a child's drawing brought to life with colored patches and columns at funny angles it has a grass roof top and the floors aren't even so you can get all the joys of being seasick from the comfort of your own home of course it's probably pretty annoying for the families living inside that it's one of the biggest tourist draws in the city knowing that your old hole riddled underwear is gonna be in three thousand photos every laundry day Robert Bruno's steel house Texas is a big old place so if you need a quiet corner of America to express your creative ideas then Texas is as good a place as any sculptor Robert Bruno spent half a lifetime building a large house that looks like a rusting turtle overlooking a river he began in 1974 and was still welding by the time he died in 2008 since almost all of the huge steel structure was done on his own in fact he only made it into a home because he was spending so much time creating the thing he said in an interview that the motivation here is really to do something that is some aesthetic value I'm not particularly concerned about having a house I build it because I like doing sculpture he had many unfinished plans like an aquarium and a library in the base he also wanted to cover the wall with body casings of nude women but that never happened the breasts laid plans of mice and men and all that Canyon River Simek and Ulrich architects if you've ever been house hunting you know it's important to have a list of your priorities whether that's a good location three bedrooms reliable heating or you know a river running through the house this beautiful oceanfront home in Vancouver Island Canada when on the market in 2015 with eight bathrooms serviced into six bedrooms it's still good to know that even if all those are somehow occupied you can always go jump in the river but it's actually saltwater since it's drawn up from the ocean below and a high-tech water engineering plant uses the artificial river to regulate the building temperature taking measurements from a mat on the ocean to gauge the surrounding temperature the realtor selling the property said price was an absolute steal so you'd be a fool not to find thirteen million dollars Canadian and try to grab it for yourself Earthship Taos New Mexico Earthship biotech sure aims to make homes that are as eco-friendly as possible by trapping the heat of the Sun for warmth and power and creating space to grow your own food just by using the Sun and the earth they can keep a regular temperature throughout the year storing heat in the mass of the walls which are often made of old car tires and the heat is then released at night and if you're thinking okay glad they're helping the environment and all but I want a cool place to live just have a look inside late comes in through the internal garden at the front and also through walls built a blast bottles and you don't need 13 million Canadian dollars either since none of the work requires expensive specialists Canadians Craig and Connie cook aside from loving the letter C built there's for just fifty five thousand dollars lighthouse Pembrokeshire this converted lighthouse and Pembrokeshire Wales will dash your wallet on the rocks coming in at just under a million pounds built in the 18th century it no longer functions as a lighthouse because well because we have GPS most lighthouses are fully automated now and are basically just a backup if the navigation fails on boats and small aircraft so this property was converted into a five bedroom luxury house with a 360 degree view at the top there's also a heated indoor pool as well summer normally lasts for about half a morning one day in July you can rent the property for a holiday and enjoy the nautical theme throughout the house as you would expect with the walls covered in oars wheels and even half a boat and don't panic if you think you're being surrounded by pirates that's just people speaking Welsh piano house Hunan China China has had some highly ambitious construction projects in recent history sometimes building entire cities from scratch in the middle of nowhere but while it's mostly huge skyscrapers and shopping malls you occasionally get something a little more out there in one man lives piano house a huge building shaped like an open grand piano the towering glass violin that acts as the entrance it was designed by the student set hoof a University of Technology to celebrate the city's advancement and it's been embraced as a romantic hospital by the Chinese with many people booking weddings inside just don't let your drunk uncle try and play the thing Tunnel house one thing that's guaranteed to ruin local property prices is if you're dumb neighbor accidentally creates a black hole and sucks their house inside out it's so annoying when that happens artist Dan Havel and bean rock created this vortex house in Houston Texas by peeling off the wooden skin of the front of their house and reforming it as a funnel that passes right through the house the tunnel entrance is in the side of the house but you have to crawl through the exit emerging in a courtyard next door are you in the market for a new home do you mind if your new residence doesn't have windows is overgrown with vegetation and comes with a squatter or two do you have a million dollars to spare then you might be the perfect new owner of one of the most expensive abandoned celebrity homes these once grand estates have the Michael Jackson you've got to be a smooth criminal if you want the thriller of breaking into the King of Pop's Neverland Ranch renamed Sycamore Valley Michael Jackson's former getaway has lay empty since its owners tragic death in 2009 originally on sale for a hundred million dollars the 2700 acre resort style estate has a lake a barn a pool a 50-person cinema and a train station inspired by the Magic Kingdom still after gathering dust the property's price tag was decreased to 67 million dollars selling this place isn't as easy as ABC maybe buyers are turned off by the fact that Neverland is missing some of the more eccentric editions that once made MJ's homes stand out even more than it already does there was once an exotic petting zoo with rare animals several theme park rides and even a fire department that Jackson established and paid for after the singers infamous 2005 trial the man who once moon walked around the world never set foot on his property again it fell into disrepair with all the games Jackson's daughter Paris said they still lived a normal life the kids were only allowed to go to the amusement park when they were well-behaved and then and only then could they walk over to the ferris wheel in their backyard if not they had to beat it the Saudi royal family in London there's a small neighborhood that doesn't even bother to hide its opulence named billionaires row a stretch of ten mansions stick out like eyesores as the UK's second most expensive residential area you'd be surprised to find these ten empty palaces they may be smaller than the castles belonging to Queen Elizabeth but that's because they were merely intended to serve as hideaways for another nations royalty in the late 1980s and early 1990s it's believed members of the Saudi royal family purchased these homes as their own kind of doomsday bunkers in the event their own home became engulfed in the kind of turmoil Saddam Hussein's Iraq was experiencing at the time however for the past 25 plus years these mansions worth an estimated 75 million pounds have gathered moss with vines growing up steps and holes in the walls floors and ceiling the only residents are the wild animals hiding in Grand fireplaces and living in musty old furniture priceless chandeliers hang over the bare floors of unused ballrooms and reflects sunlight back onto tattered curtains to get owners to either occupy or sell their homes London's Mayor Boris Johnson is pushing for a heavy increase on taxes especially since the city faces a housing crisis for its less fortunate citizens in the meantime the Saudi Arabian billionaires could provide an entire season of episodes on a flippant or fix-it type TV show Mike Tyson as much as he's become the crazy character from The Hangover Mike Tyson isn't necessarily the first person you'd associate with a house of God but he used to live in one his abandoned mansion in Southington Ohio has been renovated by a new church in the area the man who bit off part of the Evander Holyfield's ear has made a name for himself as a tough fighter inside the ring and a high roller outside of it struggle financially and filing for bankruptcy in 2003 Iron Mike couldn't afford to keep the 13,500 square foot mansion with its sprawling indoor pool zebra print carpets low-hanging chandeliers and cages for his 370 thousand dollar Bengal tigers he sold it to businessman Paul Manya for 1.3 million dollars but he didn't move into the house money and never got the chance to occupy the mansion once he was arrested in an FBI sting when money I offered the mansion in exchange for a rare 20 million dollar diamond to an undercover agent posing as an emissary from a high up criminal the entrepreneur was arrested on charges of money laundering a health magnate purchased the mansion at auction removed some of the tackier fixtures and ultimately donated the property to a start-up Church Prince Andrew right next to Great Britain's exclusive Wentworth golf club and Ascot racetrack lies a place fit for a prince the only problem is the Prince doesn't live in it built for the newly married Prince Andrew and Duchess Sarah Ferguson on the occasion of their 1986 wedding the newlyweds made the mansion their home dubbed the stately name of sunning hill the mansion lorded over the rest of its exclusive Berkshire neighbourhood situated over the mansion's high on its central Hill Prince Charles's brother Andrew and Andrews wife the original Fergie were divorced in 1996 but she and her daughters remained in the home for several more years vacating the land in the early 2000s the home started to look more like a dilapidated setting of a slasher film than the royal residence it used to be poorly cordoned off the home fell into disrepair with weeds growing throughout broken windows letting the outside elements pour inside and greenery sprouting all around the indoor swimming pool the property and sunning Hill was reportedly purchased by Keynes rakish of a businessman from Kazakhstan to which Prince Andrew has had questionable ties he's denied ownership but whoever owns the land finally demolished the long abandoned 12 bedroom 12 bathroom mansion in early 2017 Marilyn Monroe she starred in the seven-year itch but it's hard to give buyers the itch to purchase her six point nine million dollar home in LA's Brentwood neighborhood the last year's of Marilyn Monroe's life were spent in this southwestern styled bungalow with white walls and a gate surrounding the modest property of the 2624 foot home this house is the last place in which Monroe lived occupied by Monroe and trusted maid eunice the stucco hacienda was the first residence the movie starlet owned outright sadly she passed away there in 1962 only several months after moving in although several other owners have called this place home since Monroe's untimely death the mini Oasis has undergone few changes since Monroe short stint at five Helena drive over half a century ago in a 1962 photoshoot for Time magazine Monroe said anybody who likes my house I'm sure I'll get along with since subsequent owners like the aesthetics enough to keep it as is she probably would have made acquaintances with any of them with its arched doorways wood ceilings terracotta floors and blue tiles fireplace Monroe would still feel at home in her private getaway if you consider yourself a fan of one of the 20th century's most iconic faces and happened to have 7 million dollars lying around you may want to consider buying this relic of old Hollywood you get Clark you get Clark may not be a household name but this heiress is as close to royalty as an American can get her father's mining company allowed the family to rub elbows with Rockefellers and Carnegie's though they weren't in the railroad business all railroads led to the Clarks greatest accomplishment Las Vegas yes founding one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world when it was just a small mining town is quite an accomplishment while that led to Huguette purchasing three massive plots of land she spent the last 20 years of her 104 year old life in a hospital bed and wasn't able to enjoy the fruits of her family's success one of these mansions is the immaculately kept Bella's guardo in Santa Barbara California a 1930s era Chateau hanging over the Pacific decorated pools in the courtyard reflect the murals on the surrounding walls with all the same paintings and covered furniture as it was when she lived there the house is as full as her life she was on the Titanic's fateful trip and was living in New York during September 11th but the real treasure lies in the carriage house where there remains a 1933 Cadillac v16 limo and Chrysler Royal 8th convertible both in mint condition Vincente Minnelli former husband Judy Garland and fathered to Liza Minnelli mean Santa's luxurious Beverly Hills residents is now overrun with graffiti and drifters when Vincent Day passed away in 1986 he bequeathed the home to his widow Lee but his estate was left to Liza to manage Liza Minnelli sold the house in 2002 and set aside a condo for her stepmother but Lee refused to leave when Liza stopped paying electricity and the staff they continued to work for free dedicated to their aging boss from their Lee sued Liza and the two surviving Minelli's were forced to come to a new agreement Liza could sell the home to new owners but Lee was able to live there until her death after a complex turn of events the widow Minelli passed on and the new owners failed to move into the French Regency styled Mansion so if he came home to squatters mirrored walls now only reflect empty living rooms bay windows open to unattended yards in a library that once housed modernist statues and a collection of artistic works is empty save for the leftover belongings thrown on the water damaged carpets a feature in Architectural Digest from the mid 20th century shows just how chic the old pad used to be compared to the empty shell it's become the Los Feliz murder house fame is a fickle thing some people are rewarded with fame for their talent others for luck and a few for infamous deeds done along the way the same can be said of houses while this Los Feliz mentioned boasts a grand 1925 Spanish style it was the site of a brutal crime in 1959 that even the most skilled real estate agent couldn't gloss over when physician Harold paracin lost his mind over possible financial troubles he took it out on those closest to him while new owners have moved in they reported that the trauma of the original crime hadn't left the house with its original inhabitants Julien and Emily Enrique's purchased the house in the 1960s but it was left unattended after that time and it seems it was vacated in a hurry with furniture and certain belongings left behind according to an LA Times piece on the house from 2009 one peek through the window could reveal a fading living room with a classic 1950s era TV set and even still wrapped Christmas presents set aside on a table with a great hall styled entryway ballroom and study this murder house just needs a conservatory and it's the house from clue this Sowden house speaking of creepy la homes with sword pasts the Sowden house stands high above others not many homeowners are lucky enough to say their household was designed by Lloyd Wright son of famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright but built in the Mayan Revival style mr. Wright went out of his way to make it look like a demon's paradise although he'd go on to design more standard if I caching structures like the Hollywood Bowl and the Wayfarers Chapel the sadden house is laid out as if he were rebelling against his father style the only thing more dark and culty than the look of the mansion is the story of its owner dr. George Hodel purchased the house in the 1940s and moved his family into its maze-like hallways and sharp corners with a mix of walls more appropriate in an ancient temple and furniture more appropriate in dr. Evil's secret lair the only secret was that dr. Hodel was evil in his own right abusing those around him by day and hosting odd rituals at night he never aroused suspicion from outsiders thanks to his well-regarded status as a top doctor among the Hollywood elite it wasn't until years after his death that he was revealed to be a top suspect in LA's infamous Black Dahlia case Steve Jobs and Steve Jobs his eyes the Jacqueline house was meant to be torn down the Apple founder purchased the property in 1984 with the intent of raising it and starting fresh but the rich history of the Jacqueline house would haunt him he eventually defeated conservation groups and tore down right before his untimely death but he wasn't able to oversee the replacement for the 17,000 250 square foot Spanish Colonial Revival style mansion the 14 room mansion was built in the 1920s by a local mining magnate and jobs himself spent most of the 1980s living in the house while his professional career faltered perhaps associating his failures with the location he left the Jacqueline house uninhabited with its doors and windows open allowing natural elements and human intruders to take their toll outside of the authentic 1920s lighting sconces wood carved furniture mix an art deco and modern decor and with a fair smattering of Apple logo scattered through the house the biggest piece of history was Jacqueline's full-size pipe organ preservationist managed to sneak in and squeeze it out of the house before demolition in 2011 the rest is history whether you like it or not you might live in the matrix besides the fact that science is debating whether we live in a big old hologram there are just too many things around us that aren't what they seem so open your mind and learn the truth as the hub reveals everyday things that prove your life is a lie and stay in the know by clicking on the red pill or rather the red subscribe button homes some buildings just can't blend into their surroundings whether they have crooked walls or eye popping colors these structures can usually find a way around city ordinances and codes allowing them to be designed and decorated to the owners satisfaction and then other buildings just blend right in minor blinking you'll miss a differences that nearly go unnoticed take 58 element Street in Brooklyn New York like any other fashionable brownstone in this residential neighborhood it's a fine and unassuming building save for one major secret passing it on first glance you may not notice that all the windows are painted jet-black are the owners sensitive to light do they belong to a cult well no because there's nobody living inside but who owns such prime New York real estate the New York City Transit Authority the house at 58 your element Street is located directly above the Bowling Green and Borough Hall stations within this residence is a passageway for authorized personnel only as well as a ventilator unassuming buildings like these are the perfect place to house public service equipment without making them eyesores for people who live nearby so next time you see an empty home next to a power plant it might just be storage for more of that same power plant car commercials the gleaming light of Sun shines off the hood of a new car as it careens around mountain roads speeds through a desert and rose around a forest the driver might smile as they enjoy their smooth ride maybe a celebrity spokesperson talks about how this car will change your life or change the course of history this will be on a commercial during the Super Bowl families will watch people will reap sales will tick up slightly the only thing is that car you saw in that commercial doesn't exist sure some manufacturers and some far-off land has an assembly line putting it together but usually the car itself isn't around for filming instead commercial production companies used the Blackbird this battery powered rig comes with a mounted camera adjustable wheels that can match the size and distance of any modern vehicle on sale and suspension that helps it to realistically react to any driving environment once filming is done a computer-generated car is superimposed over the Blackbird this way money is saved for any time spent borrowing the car for the initial shoot and reshoots commercials are made families watch people weep and cars are bought facades some people take home decor and design seriously they won't settle for anything less than the real thing no white picket fences made of plastic for them and no Brady Bunch style astroturf for their front lawn either but these people may be surprised to find that both facades have come a long way in the past few years thanks to advances in technology accurate molds of slates can create a rocky exterior wall to the front of the house that looks as if it was painstakingly cemented around the front door rocked by rod it could be just as easily applied in one sheet by a homeowner Ron iron substitutes are made of composite metals but they too are painted to match the dark reflective properties of the real thing if placed on the outside of a second-story window as a frame it looks just like actual metal but is much lighter to handle public works projects often use substitutes to those brick roads you're stepping on could just be red painted concrete with stencils inlaid to make different bricks stand out or worse they could just have been textured sheets laid directly over the roads themselves pineapples while it's a delicious addition to any smoothie or fruit salad pineapples are actually a pretty commonly mistaken fruit grown in the ground and not in trees pineapples can take 3 full years to ripen which explains why they're usually more expensive than other fruits you'll encounter in the produce aisle they also are often considered sweeter tasting when salt is added named by European explorers who noted their similar shape to pinecones these fruits are actually berries when pineapples grow and mature they're really a bunch of different berries that coalesce into a spiky gridded plant that you can pick up from a store speaking of berries other surprising fruits belong to the berry family are watermelons pumpkins avocados and bananas and yet strawberries are not actually berries yes pineapples are unique fruit and although they were first discovered in South America the sweetest-tasting are often thought to be found in Hawaii and Costa Rica that said most pineapples in the world are produced out of Southeast Asia no matter the location and no matter the exterior color pineapples tend to taste sweet wherever you find them Greengrass are you green with envy over your neighbor's lawn often the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence but in California it's greener on the other side of the state line only thing worse than all these green cliches is the drought that's impacted the southwestern United States these past several years it's dried up riverbeds cracked the landscape and brown the mountains with some homeowners desperate for a change from the ever dying monotony and unable to add any more water than necessary to their properties they're turning to unique solutions that's where companies like extreme green grass and lawn lifts come in with natural based green paints and pigments found in women's cosmetics they developed an environmentally friendly way to turn grass green and it lasts a good three to six months it's a much cheaper alternative to replacing grass with cacti and other desert plants which could cost up to $20.00 per square foot instead the paint is often an affordable 35 cents per square foot coming out to an average total of a hundred and seventy-five dollars painting the grass green also helps cool down the surrounding area and scientists point out its efficiency in conserving water pruned fingers when you swim or take a bath your fingers usually prune up but why you might think it's because the water causes your skin to swell but scientists noted that this trait doesn't occur in fingers with nerve damage instead researchers have discovered that this is a feature that the human body has developed through years and years of evolution with groove finger tips were able to better grip objects under water even though the pruning makes your wet hands look temporarily older it's an incredibly useful survival mechanism controlled by nervous systems the pruning of our finger tips is as internal of a process as blood flow and heart rates this process helped our ancestors grasp food from streams and rivers and toe pruning aided in running barefoot along rain soaked surfaces proven by having human test subjects grab wet and dry marbles prune hands picked up a series of wet marbles much faster than dry hands so if you're caught wet handed you have a much better chance of survival NASA vehicle assembly building much of the scientific community has warned that climate change is one of the greatest problems of our time thankfully many climate controlled buildings can keep us safe from the elements as long as they're not large enough to have a climate of their own NASA's mammoth Vehicle Assembly Building makes its own rules for the type of attributes a building can have this massive open warehouse is so large employees have noted that it has its own weather patterns at one hundred and twenty-nine million four hundred and twenty eight thousand square feet this factory was among the biggest structures around with enough internal volume to contain almost four Empire State building's with the largest doors in the world they're big enough to fit the Statue of Liberty inside this huge structure was built to fit the towering Apollo rockets of the 1960s and with its height and width combined with the Florida humidity clouds are known to gather in the ceiling any moisture and precipitation could prove dangerous to expensive devices at ground level so the latest renovation of the building included air conditioning equipment weighing in at 10,000 tons one hour of AC pumping through this room can replace all the air inside of it allowing for clear blue skies we mean sealing the Apollo 11 computer humankind's greatest accomplishment in the twentieth century might have been our trip to the moon the event which we now take for granted caught the attention of the entire planet as we look skyward beyond what we once thought was possible and just think the flight was completed using drives with less processing power than a Super Nintendo advanced for its time each of the eight registers on the apollo 11's computer contained a maximum of 16 bits of information the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis home video gaming system of the early 1990s could play up to 32-bit imagine millions of kids with the same computing power of the craft that took men to the moon and it was hooked up to their TVs for Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog marathons even the IBM PC a home computer released around 12 years after the moon landing has about eight times more memory than the first man-made object and on the lunar surface while the Apollo 11 computer could multitask like modern computers albeit at a much more limited rate it encountered its own share of difficulties equipped with only switches and blinking lights there was only one red warning light to tell the crew of major light threatening emergencies this was triggered once the crew accidentally left two competing radars running at the same time and they had to toggle through all of their systems to find the source it's a shame they couldn't just press the reset button pirate's eye patches life was much tougher in centuries past but pirates likely had at the roughest pillaging villages and seizing ships their lives were never short of battles the prevalence of swords knives cannons and pistols meant that pegleg's hooks for hands and of course eye patches were never on short order but did you know that not every pirate with an eyepatch was missing an eye sure some might have been faking it so they could have street cred but eye patches were actually helpful tools for those with two eyes of their own it takes the human eye a good 25 minutes to adjust from daytime to darkness as the inner Hall of ships were often dark and dank places a quick flip of the patch would allow Buccaneers to easily see the goings on below deck although there's no historical anecdotes to confirm for sure we can assume that no tough acting pirate would want to reveal an unscarred face to their fellow Seabees wear an eyepatch yourself the next time you're swabbing the poop deck and no ruffian will try a tricky surprise attack on you while you're unaware tic tacs tic tacs are known and loved as the tiny and portable sometimes minty and sometimes sweet candy you might struggle getting one tack out of the small plastic container without spilling out the rest but a helpful and fun fact to consider is that the indentation on the side of the lid is shaped to fit a single tic tac inside of it like a mini spoon offering a single serving for your consumption although these candies are tiny beware the wording on the box it says it's sugar-free but in actuality tic tacs are 98% sugar they're able to get away with this through a clever loophole in the Food and Drug Administration's rules in order to be sugar-free foods must have less than 0.5 grams of sugar since the total percentage of sugar in a given serving isn't taken into account and an average tic-tac only weighs about 0.49 grams the makers are able to sneak Li call themselves a sugar-free snack from controlling the weather to being in contact with aliens military bases are almost synonymous with controversial claims and conspiracy theorists admittedly they have to keep something secret but do they really have to keep so much hidden from the public today we're showing you the 10 most protected military bases in the world by the end of this video you'll be sick of hidden secrets so we'll let you in on one of ours before we start click subscribe and we promise there's something great on the other side Dugway proving ground Utah it's been known for its controversial practices for almost its entire existence so it's no wonder that the US army keeps Dugway proving ground firmly under lock and key situated around 85 miles southwest of Salt Lake City the military bunker primarily tests out biological and chemical weapons so even if you managed to make it out into the desert to view the bunker you'd probably step away after hearing what goes on inside and if that wasn't bad enough the bunker also shipped live anthrax spores all around the world in 2015 to access the bunker takes a lot of hard work and that's once you've crawled through the heat of the desert in order to actually access the land unsurprisingly considering its controversial history it's incredibly well protected and it's almost impossible to enter without permission the Dugway proving ground has even been considered the new area 51 with some people suggesting that UFO encounters happen on the site regularly we like to think that if this was happening the locals would have spotted something but with the dangers past behind the bunker they might just be too scared to speak out there have been problems in the past with biological weapons accidentally crossing the border of the bunker and affecting anybody who lives nearby but so far the figures of those affected has yet to be publicly released Fort Detrick Maryland you might have heard of Fort Detrick before but probably not for any good reason who was the center point between 1943 and 1969 for the US Army's biological weapons program which unfortunately saw a few fatalities on American soil the team behind the biological experiments had good intentions they wanted to increase the USA strength against weapons of this type so they decided to gently test them in various parts of America most notably San Francisco however at the plan backfired as the biological diseases that were spread came on too heavy and a wave of different illnesses struck some of the major towns in this area so with this in mind you might have already accepted that gaining entry into this fort is almost impossible it's also doubly security-conscious because before fort detrick turned into a bunker it was actually a tiny airport in Frederick in 1943 the US government bought the 92 acre plot of land and then another 62 acres surrounding it the reason why it was used for biological testing was partially down to its remote location and it makes it pretty easy to spot any lurking civilians nearby - if this wasn't enough to convince you that entry is nigh on impossible maybe you should consider that the government kept it so secretive that nobody even knew the bunker existed until 1946 Diego Garcia if you're proud of having heard of our previous two military bunkers were pretty certain you'll never have come across Diego Garcia the controversial camp is hidden away in the Indian Ocean and has remained a mystery to outsiders since its initial creation it's part of a group of islands called the Chagos Islands which are technically owned by the British government but have been leased to the United States it's now the largest overseas airspace belonging to the US government and is notorious for its unethical practices although a few articles have been written about Diego Garcia they're fairly shrouded in mystery since the base was built no journalist has ever been able to step foot there entry is only permitted for military employees we're pretty sure we wouldn't want to visit this camp because it's been known to how suspected terrorists this has been denied by members of the UK government but suggested by official u.s. employees so by this point we're not really sure who to believe you might think it would be easy to sneak into the bunker because with about 3,500 workers based on the island you could surely blend in right it's a big risk if you decide to because once you're in it's equally difficult to leave passports are usually surrendered on arrival leaving thousands away from their families for a long period of time wright-patterson Air Force Base it seems a lot of our military bunkers on this list are known for doing bad things or committing undercover crimes but at least we can say one good thing about the wright-patterson Air Force Base back in 1995 it was used to settle the end of the Bosnian war and as a result we now have the Dayton Agreement the air force base is used for improving you guessed it air forces it has enough room to land even the largest of planes and the entire dimensions of the ground are around five thousand two hundred and fifty acres obviously the outskirts of the base are all closed off so you'd have to plan a long camping route if you were planning on sneaking into this bunker Bo hole in the fence or something but once you're in there there are a lot of places to hide because this Air Force Base has more than 300 buildings the US government put 300 million dollars towards improving the site which we imagine helped the planes there but also the security surrounding the base allegedly when it's not dealing with planes the bunker is dealing with unidentified foreign objects and there are rumors that there's a secret UFO room somewhere inside although curtis lemay a general at the site said nobody would ever enter it HAARP research station Alaska you might think it's bad enough that certain parts of the government we're testing biological weapons or chatting away to aliens but wait until you hear about them supposedly changing the weather no we're not joking although the HAARP research center in Alaska might not have actually controlled the weather but conspiracy theories were convinced it could at least play a role in it in 2010 venezuelan leader hugo chavez even suggested that the HAARP center contributed towards the haiti earthquake or that another similar program might have been the cause although we're aware that a center in alaska couldn't actually change the weather we can understand why there's so much controversy around the base its job is to probe into the ionosphere which starts around 53 miles north of the Earth's surface the technology used is incredibly complex and it was forbidden to enter the base without explicit permission for better or for worse in 2014 the government decided to shut down Hart whether it was due to the rising number of conspiracies or whether it was too costly to continue using work in the center was stopped but in 2016 the government relented and began to allow visitors to tour the complex of course this is great for encouraging transparency but who knows what they could have hidden in those two years Raven Rock Mountain complex Maryland on the border between Maryland and Pennsylvania lies the Raven Rock Mountain complex or as you might know of it site are designed to house US forces in the event of a nuclear attack it has enough amenities to keep people happy and healthy for around a month except for one important thing sure the mountain complex has enough food water and shelter to allow you to get a good night's sleep in the knowledge you can still have a hearty breakfast in the morning but you won't be able to check your phone while you're enjoying it that's surrounding the Raven Rock complex is some form of magnetic field meaning that it's impossible to get a network connection there basically it's not somewhere you'd like to be stuck in an emergency which is pretty ironic considering that's exactly why it was built the complex has thought to house a city inside the mountain but you won't be able to get a look inside without permission huge steel doors cover the entrance behind which are any number of strange antennas dishes and other creations no one was really aware of this base for years and locals weren't too bothered about its existence although only those in on the secret are knowledgeable on where the last one lies Mount weather Emergency Operations Center Virginia it's only an hour or so away from Washington DC and it has its own fire service police force and laws but no one who has ever been inside mount weather has ever really opened up about what lies there the complex started out as a weather station in the late 1800s but after 9/11 government officials were flown there by helicopter and it all changed from then on realistically it's not difficult to find mount weather but if the no trespassing sign doesn't put you off then maybe the razor-sharp wire surrounding the complex will do the job also hiding the view of the base is a thick plantation of shrubs which actually makes it easier to view mount weather from space than it does from simply driving up to the complex as a result we'd hedge our bets that it would be easier to fly down from outer space to get inside the base then it would be to try and enter from the roadside no one has ever even been allowed to tour the property so nobody is truly sure what goes on inside there the government is so intent on hiding mount weather away that they're continually pushing it behind new improvements areas you used to be able to view from the side have been since covered with fences and huge barriers forward logistics base Kashmir as we know there must be something going on at forward logistics base in Kashmir because both India and Pakistan are intent on taking control of it this might not sound so strange to you except for the fact that the land is uninhabitable yet they still want it for their own both sides have actually built their own military installations making it dangerous to cross from one side to the other however anyone who sets foot in the base should already be used to the danger because surrounding it our mountain peaks that can reach around three miles high sure the land looks pretty and we're sure you could take a few nice Instagram shots up there but we're not convinced as to what's so special about the complex based on a glacier it's certainly cold which we like to imagine with intruders away but this also makes it difficult for those who are based there for any period of time it's also dangerous for anyone who even drops into the complex because landing a helicopter on such precarious land takes a lot of skill and can sometimes backfire in fact the world's largest helipad is based nearby which reaches dizzying heights of 21,000 feet zuly airbase Greenland the Thule Air Base in Greenland could be considered the height of counterproductive Nestico clear attacks and also to intercept north american bomber attacks but it's only accessible for three months during the entire year yes that's correct so for those other nine months it's very difficult to access which we think probably gives any attackers a bit of a helping hand Dulli was originally supposed to be kept a secret now although the military element of it is just as secure it's probably one of the worst kept secrets around government officials spoke of the base under the codename operation blue jay but the secret got out in 1952 and was made public as a result Dulli airbase was also the home to the equally secret project iceworm a program created by the US Army during the Cold War the goal was to use the surrounding ice as a shield for a collection of nuclear missile launch sites project iceworm was considered highly controversial so to keep everybody convinced it was safe another project called Camp sentry was created don't worry we're struggling to keep up with all these names - Camp century was the study of feasibly holding things underneath the ice but both projects were cancelled when it was realized that the ice sheets were unsteady and dangerous Pine Gap Australia if you want to know what truly goes on inside Pine Gap in Australia you have to become close friends with one of the thousand people who work there and even then you'll struggle to find what you're looking for no one except the workers has ever been allowed inside the base and we doubt they ever will people all over the world have tried to find out what happens between the heavily stacked gates but even the local residents are unaware of its secrets it's jointly owned by Australia in the United States and its full name is the joint defense facility Pine Gap you might wonder how to such distant nations can successfully hold a fort together and it might be this reason as to why so many conspiracy theories surround the complex some people seem to think that Pine Gap controls UFOs we're sorry to break it to you but this isn't true or at least this isn't what either country publicizes as true the truth isn't too different however the complex gathers data from signal intelligence and also provides warning on early missile launches the ground spans over 65,000 square feet yet is patrolled by police every 10 minutes a Melbourne based photographer who tried to snap the complex said the average person would be lucky to get within a kilometer of it when we think of the future many of us like to picture flying cars medical breakthroughs space travel and robot Butler's however for some reason footwear is often overlooked when we envision the future in this video we're going to show you some amazing futuristic shoes that you've probably never heard of you won't want to wait to get your hands on a pair of first time we saw the film fortunately Nike heard our concerns loud and clear and stepped up to the plate following an online petition Nike worked with Footwear innovator Tiffany beers to create the Nike MAG starting from scratch after six long years adding up to thousands of hours of work which included three total restarts the shoes were completed not only are these an accomplishment because they activate our sense of nostalgia but they are also the first rechargeable Footwear created by Nike these shoes feature an electroluminescent outsole and are made with space-age materials they're rechargeable internal battery is good for up to 3000 hours of use but even cooler than the flashing lights and the nostalgia factor is that 100% of the proceeds from these limited-edition shoes were donated to fund Parkinson's research in just 10 days these shoes had kicked up over ten million dollars they also helped pave the way for Nikes next extremely futuristic pair of shoes which has an even more impressive array of features than the Nike bags nike hyperadapt 1.0 at first glance the nike hyperadapt 1.0 doesn't look as futuristic as the Nike MAG in fact it doesn't look completely unlike the other sneakers we are used to seeing but the really exciting part about these shoes is the technology that they use inside thanks to their unique system these shoes are capable of what Nike has termed adaptive fit just slip this amazing super shoe onto your foot and the internal laces will begin to cinch automatically the sensors within the shoe measure where your feet are and detect points of pressure while you can override the fit by adjusting the internal laces using two buttons on the side of the shoe this adaptive fit is designed to give you the perfect fit every time and you their feet to manipulate their in-game characters and make them walk step to the side and jump it's possible in the future this will expand to include virtual reality games as well one especially nice thing about these shoes is that despite all they're capable of they don't appear bulky or cumbersome at all oh and the soles light up because that's just what future shoes do while they're only in the prototype stage right now we can't wait to see the finished product becoming available to the public let gel haptic Footwear thanks to technology it's now easier than ever to navigate our way around scenery around you and let your shoes direct you where to go using gentle vibrations to show you the correct path you can even adjust the level of vibration just in case you find it tickling your feet too much it also operates offline meaning that it won't use up all your data or require you to have access to a Wi-Fi signal just use the app on your phone to tell your shoes where you want to go and your shoes will receive the signal via bluetooth like the Lenovo smart shoes the legend half dick footwear has an activity tracker as well these shoes are available in many different colors sizes and materials so you'll have plenty of options and they also have a nifty feature that makes you feel like you've done a good deed by purchasing a pair of awesome shoes a portion of every sale goes to subsidizing a pair for shoes for a visually impaired person they're available to purchase from $100 to 170 two dollars depending on your shoe size chips sneakers while it's great to have shoes that can tie our laces for us track how many steps we take and help us navigate at the end of the day sometimes you just want a shoe that looks incredible ship sneakers are the solution to ending the countless hours we spend languishing as we debate what colors speakers to invest in with just one pair of shipped sneakers you'll have access to a whole array of looks while it's still in its conceptual stage at the moment the idea is to have the shoes connect to an app that you can use to control the color of your sneakers conducive spreads would be woven into the membrane of the sneakers in order to facilitate the movement of electrical signals of your body while miniature LEDs allow you to project different colors and patterns onto the shoes choose from preset colors and patterns or feel free to design your own you can also program issues to respond to change appearance and response to specific temperatures movements or locations you could design a pair of awesome sneakers that turn into a more responsible looking pair as soon as you get to school or work GAR new carbon Croteam shoes although it's not nearly as exciting as shoes that can change colors these gar neo carbon pro team shoes maybe slightly more functional especially if you have a problem with sweaty feet these shoes share a common ingredient with a common treat chewing gum that's right xylitol is a sugar alcohol sweetener used in gum to give your mouth that clean feeling the ice bill insoles of these shoes are treated with the same chemical that reacts to the dampness of your feet in a similar way that the gum reacts to the dampness of your mouth this makes your feet feel cooler the hotter they get in wintertime you'll want to swap out the interchangeable insole for one that is designed to maintain the heat rather than dissipate it to further enhance your ability to exercise the heel cup of these shoes use it an internal polymer system called a char s 300 which hugs your foot securely in order to reduce the slippage these shoes start at about one hundred and fifty nine dollars and go up from there depending on what size you're looking for for a modest investment soon your stinky sweaty feet will be a thing of the past Electric Cinderella electric cinderella sounds like an awesome band name but it's also the name of an incredible pair of futuristic shoes they were designed by Simone Abruzzo passed as part of her master's thesis at the interaction Design Institute while most shoes on this list are simple sneakers this is a pair of high tech high heels her goal when designing them was to come up with a way that would make women feel sexy and empowered at the same time while also helping keep them safe these shoes are capable of unleashing 100,000 volts of electricity from their tip if the wearer feels that she is in danger she only needs to tap on her special necklace to activate her heels power an initial spark gives the would-be perpetrator a warning and if they don't back down the shoes can then release their full charge these are a one-time use and obviously only to be used in case of an emergency we love the idea of combining femininity and self-defense and Pat's believes that other women will as well when they become commercially available we all love rocking a stunning outfit and these shoes help us take that phrase literally adea's mega Lizer you've heard of people who march to the beat of their own drum but with a pair of Adidas mega lasers you can dance to the beat of your own shoes we can't all play musical instruments but with these shoes if you can move your feet you can create music in addition to a wireless transmitter each shoe contains two sensors one in the heel and one in the toe these shoes have a range of about 20 feet so while you do have to be near a speaker you don't have to worry about knocking it over with your dance moves when your shoes touch the ground the sensors register the pressure you've created these signals are transferred through an app which interprets the signals and translates them into music which plays through the speakers you can change the sensitivity of the shoes volume of the music and even the specific sounds that it produces these were designed for break dancers so that they could simultaneously create music and show off their dance moves but if you can tap your feet you can enjoy wearing and listening to these shoes as well although playing your guitar is pretty impressive being able to play your sneakers is pretty awesome as well in step nano power being able to create music with your shoes is amazing but what if there was a pair of shoes that would allow you to actually create energy while many devices have been invented that allow the wearer to harvest energy the instep nano power is the first practical footwear to utilize this technology these shoes use the mechanical energy we produced when walking and convert it to electrical power that you can use to power your wireless electronics normally when we walk the energy we cultivate is turned into heat and loss while you're charging your phone with each step you can use the app in order to track your location battery life and how many steps you've taken and if you're worried about these being cumbersome they're designed to look and feel just like normal shoes the battery and other components are also hermetically sealed in order to prevent moisture from interfering with them in addition to powering your devices you can also set your shoes to become a Wi-Fi hotspot just by walking you can scroll through Facebook even faster as you boost your Wi-Fi signal the manufacturer intends to develop several different models at various price points but they don't anticipate the basic models being unduly expensive in pop culture school and a million other places we're always being told what to do it's a life hack here an old wives tale there everybody seems to know the right thing for you but the thing is they don't it's usually not on purpose but a lot of times the info people give you just isn't right luckily the hub has your back this time here are the 10 lies that you still believe before your mind gets totally blown be sure and subscribe to our Channel and turn on your alerts we promise we won't lie to you a full night's rest the first lie on our list is one you're certainly familiar with oftentimes when we show up to school or work somebody will have to tell you about how little sleep they got the night before it's almost become a competition to see who got the least amount of sleep under the required eight hours a night but that's where the reality ends because needing a standard eight hours of sleep just isn't universally true for years doctors said that eight hours a night was the way to go but doctors also used to say that cigarette smoke wasn't very harmful what we're trying to say is that the information we have as a culture changes over time with the development of new discoveries today many scientists say that the amount of sleep we need each night varies person to person and when you think about it this makes a ton of sense each person doesn't eat the exact same amount or exercise the same amount do they plus there are more factors to consider as well for example if you're sick you generally are gonna need a lot more sleep than a healthy person and if you have recently been sleeping poorly or erratically this will greatly affect the amount of sleep you need to shaving darker a lot of children heard this next slide while going through puberty no not that everything would be easy in middle school but the classic lie about shaving grandparents parents older siblings neighbors almost everybody will tell you that shaving makes your hair grow back thicker but we have bad news for boys frantically shaving to try and grow a sweet mustache it just isn't true as the body develops the hair on it naturally grows darker and thicker whether or not you have to shave it is no bearing on the issue but if you are one of the types of people that insist it's true because you claim to have seen it with your own eyes we have an explanation for you - humans are actually pretty observant so whenever a hair is shaved down into stubble there can be the appearance of thick hair that's because human hair is tapered at the end whenever it grows back from that spot you'll have the same old hairs before the lesson here is not to panic just let mother nature take her course the cause of warts the social stigma behind the next item on our list is enough to make some people hysterical but fear not animal lovers we're here to finally debunk the myth that toads give you warts the next time you walk into a pet store there's no need to avoid the amphibian section this bizarre lie started likely because toads can appear to have warts on their bodies but what we're seeing aren't warts at all they're simply bumps behind the ears of toads called the parotid glands when humans would think back to other contagious ailments and diseases they noted that they often spread via open sores and wounds why would the wart be any different well in this case it actually was different warts are simply a human virus any dermatologist will tell you that you have nothing to worry about in that department however toads do have glands with a poison that will irritate the skin of humans they secrete this substance for self-defence against potential predators and yes that includes humans so kissing a toad to try and transform it into a prince should be totally off the table don't believe what Disney taught you a mother's rejection this lie certainly came about as a white light to protect an animal it's hard to blame parents and from trying to keep kids away from birds after all children can sometimes accidentally be too careless and too aggressive around smaller animals the warning that mother birds abandon their young if a human has touched it just isn't true whenever you see a baby bird on the ground the instinct may be to go and help it maybe it's lost its nest maybe it's hurt and needs help getting back the best bet here is to simply let the baby bird be it is very likely in the process of learning to fly and interrupting it could be harmful to its development you'd hate to screw up a bird's flying lessons wouldn't you on top of that handling birds in the wild could also be very dangerous to humans as well some birds carry mites and diseases that could be passed through a person's skin the only type of bird that has the super sensitive sense of smell that people often attribute to the common bird is a vulture but they don't use their smell to abandon their young they use it to find dinner jellyfish sting have you ever been in such extreme pain that you're willing to do anything to make it go away even have somebody pee on you wait wait maybe we should explain a little bit better before this goes too far off the rails an old wives tale says that if you're ever on a beach and get stung by a jellyfish then there exists an easy solution simply have somebody pee on the spot where you were stung and the pain will be alleviated almost immediately pretty great right except that's just not true we know this lie has been widely popularized in movies and TV and even appeared on an episode of Friends if Monica got stung by a jellyfish and had somebody pee on it in real life you would actually have the opposite effect urine has been known to activate the jellyfish stingers in the skin causing even more pain the good news is that even if you get stung by a sneaky jellyfish the pain won't last too long it usually goes away within 24 hours or so so if you can survive the first five minutes of pain you'll be good to go just no peeing on it okay NASA pen let's jump from a lie about beaches to a lie told about outer space during the Cold War there was a lot of propaganda going around in all directions it was widely popular to criticize either the United States or the Soviet Union depending on what side you were on of course so that's why when this lie came out people instantly believed it it was said that the United States spent millions of dollars developing a special pen that could be used to write in outer space because of the lack of sufficient gravity traditional pens won't write during space travel and the counterpoint of the government overspending was the Soviet Union astronauts decided to just use a pencil instead the reason this is a lie is that using pencils in space was a dangerous move butts of the lead could break off and get into mechanical parts of the spacecraft that they shouldn't be the Soviets actually ended up using the Pens that were created shortly after this after all they were the better and safer choice so if you ever get an email forward to you that promises to prove just how stupid the United States is for overspending you'll now know the truth coca-cola acid if we were to take a guess we'd say this next slide was created by Pepsi coca-cola is the largest and most popular non-alcoholic beverage on planet Earth because of its widespread fame it's no surprise that several lies and myths have popped up about it over the years for example one of the more popular lies says that if you left a tooth or a nail or a penny in a can of coke overnight that the next day it would be completely dissolved this lie exists to play up the fear of acids that exist in cokes ingredients while it's true that the citric acid and phosphoric acid will eventually dissolve your teeth this is also true of many everyday items we drink given a long enough timeline even orange juice would dissolve your teeth luckily when we drink these liquids they only wash over our teeth for a very brief moment we aren't holding mouthfuls of acid in our mouth all day so there's very little to worry about if you are worried about coke affecting your health then we better to focus on the massive amounts of sugar in each bottle and can maybe drink a little more water each day no pain no gain we believe a lot of lies simply because we want to even when they don't make much sense we can often get influenced by our pride and ego take this next slide for example no pain no gain while working out it's often said that the only way to get a legitimate workout is if you feel sore and painful afterwards this soreness that develops around six hours after working out is called Dom's
