see I'm starting with a 1989 chevy metro shut the 1.0 litre three cylinder five-speed I've had this car for about seven years and hopefully I have it for another seven years because absolutely love this car the highest I've ever gotten that this was on a road trip in Arizona and I was driving up to see how high a mileage I could get five hundred mile trip I got fifty four point two one mile two gallon but it had nothing in it was real white and has been a premium gas don't know if that makes any difference or not but I was 92 octane and I never drove it over 60 but I've gotten 50 miles a gallon just a little bit over 50 consistently as long as I don't drive it real fast or on any kind of load so I don't know what this was doing the trip but basically I turned this into you like a world's smallest motorhome or RV or whatever you want to call it and getting ready had taken us on a road trip before from Arizona so I ended up in but I'm getting ready to take off again I turned this into a one sheet car I did this about three and a half years ago I took out the backseat that I just threw away I knew that was never going back and I saved Front Street but uh and I I floored it over and that front wing where their front man is that too big hole is all that holds that in in about five minutes I can take that wing out and put the bolt the seat back in so I can turn her back into a two-seat car pretty easy but I never do and this thing has become so handy this is like my little truck but when I did this to get this ready to do a road trip you know with this because of the mileage I get I figure I could just bounce with bomb around the country pretty cheap and I can lay out I can stretch out that's about seven foot on that side so I got plenty of room to lay out in that thing I built a frame underneath there and then I put a floor in it these panels were like I did it in small sections mainly oxide be easier cut a mat cut them to get them to fit but I can also take pick those off and there's storage underneath there I built this with the idea that that framework this underneath the floor that could come out pretty easy if I wanted to take that out and buy another Geo Metro or another Chevy Metro this is a shaker Metro same thing that's pretty much the same year though I'm thinking I could take this off and stick it in another one pretty easy so can't see the framework when I did the floor I put in this 400 watt inverter do so have a gen that's inside the car 400 watts not for it myself but all I use that for charge my iPad phones stuff like that but that's been in there since I did this and this ball right out of Walmart back in there about 40 bucks so I don't know much there right now that works really good sleeping bags not zip together and then and then I one of these thick campy mattress tight pads and when I first started that sleep in this car when I first put it together three and four years ago the first trip I took on Oh trouble cause uh it was like I got claustrophobia but after about the two three nights of that you know and I kind of want to wait now honestly I sleep like a baby in this thing very comfortable this time though a better 25 watt so because the problem in the past was I mean obviously I don't have any deep-cycle batteries in this I'm just running out the car battery the problem in the past was is you know I'm running of my iPad and everything and then if I just start taking really short trips I never won the engine not enough to keep the battery charged up so that's not a better problem in the past and so I decided on this time I'm gonna get that solar panel that will lay up in my - when I park and just lay that up and keep my batteries topped off so I don't have a problem running my battery dead because I have done that before so if I ain't about west into you know into deserts or besides saving a lot of money on gas you can't afford to buy anything because you have no place to put it so I I've traveled a bit in this car and I know there's two people in Arizona out there these metros Chevy's whatever and both from random 350,000 Cheyenne at 200 Jen I'd as good as this runs I'm thinking this agro 350,000 we'll find out but I'm getting ready to take off and I have no qualms about doing it with the car of two hundred ten thousand miles on today to do is just fold that mattress back sleeping bags at all and I have this whole table right here for maps whatever I want there today while I'm driving and also I can you know shift and all that so that's pretty good I can say this front wing comes off really easy and there's lots of storage underneath respect for and right there [Music] so it's all pretty good in my opinion if you ever have a chance to get one of these metros that's in pretty decent shape and you want a good transportation car you just can't beat these a lot of people mechanically definitely when they pop the hood on this thing they can't believe how simple it is just an incident hooked to the transmission this car didn't even come with power steering it's very basic very easy to work on parts were cheap I mean I'm not a mechanic but using a manual I changed the timing belt and water pumps right there I changed the poet water pump on these cars came with a three cylinder 5-speed or the four cylinder automatic now years ago I had a four cylinder automatic I wasn't really that impressed with that one myself I would not want one of these unless as the three cylinder 5 SP but this is my taste the four cylinder automatic only got about 42 amount of gallon with that so there's a big difference in the gas mileage but this engines only putting out 55 horsepower but that's at sea level you get this up in the mountains I've had this up out in Arizona lots of times nine 9,000 feet mmm probably at 9,000 feet this is only putting out about thirty-five horsepower because it's not turbocharged so it's pretty gutless you know if your ego gets in a way you're not never going to drive one of these but I don't have a problem with and I don't care what people think about what I Drive and I absolutely love this car like I said I'm not a mechanic but watching a couple youtubes I rebuilt the front-end on this change the transaxles and it really wasn't all that hard that's why I think these cars are good transportation car for the average person if you can come up with one because you don't have to be a rocket science to work on these about anything you want to do there's a couple YouTube's telling you how to do it I always thought she rebuilt in the front end with new ball joints and all that swing arms I always thought that would be difficult it really is not nothing to it other than just unbolt in the old ones and bolt in the new ones in when you'd all done and you have to take it to a lineman shop though and get it realigned this is how small this car is but to me it tells a bigger story I'm sure this will make a lot of people mad but this shows you how far off the rails this country has gotten I always thought the idea was try to get from point A to point B as cheaply as you can not anymore now it seemed like everybody wants to figure out just how much money they can spend to get from point A to point B and they don't get there any faster than I get there
