The World of Educational Consoles

here at p-tech we believe that video games are bad in fact there are several credible studies linking the creation of video games to satan himself we all know that guy am i right but during our last nintendo game burning ceremony i brought up the idea to my father that video games could be used as a force for good [Music] by introducing kids at a young age to play games that integrate learning activities that they hate and teasing them with fun gameplay that we never actually deliver on yeah yeah yeah yeah introducing the p smile [Music] yeah yes yes by showing kids just how unfun video games can be we can prevent them from ever joining the gaming cult to begin with this will be possible by integrating desirable next-gen traits that companies like sony and microsoft have yet to integrate more like pony and micro brain okay you know i am right okay yeah my mom likes that one too the pea smile will have full 1080i resolution and a built-in toilet that will disintegrate the console over time if not emptied regularly yes kids be alive [Applause] lastly we'll be introducing characters and properties from very popular beloved media while introducing none of the aspects that made those characters or properties fun to begin with wow i personally find this very fun as i'm a child who is easily entertained and also can't wait to grow up and play real video games all right there's been too many videos on this channel lately about childish things such as pokemon and video games in fact that's the whole lifetime of my channel so we're in a more adulty location today and big surprise i've got a knife to open these boxes with we've had pokey pushy things and nerf knives or whatever i used to call them today we're just calling it a knife i've grown up today's the oh and today it's time to finally show it so this is a cartridge system from vtec this one came with the little mermaid it's like a pretty legit console it's got two controller ports it has rubber feet but they're like alien feet not human feet let's take batteries why does this take batteries okay that's actually awesome and i didn't know that and the controller's got some neat features as well you can hold it like this if you're right-handed and if you're left-handed then the controller switches around even if you're not left-handed the controller still switches around i don't know why i explained it that way but the controller switches around no matter what the circumstance or who you are i could see this actually being fun to play games on not just learning games so that's the big thing most of these consoles you could play fun learning games on them but they're not supposed to be like real video game consoles to play actual games you could actually play some things on this atari or a little mermaid [Music] we're here wherever i decide this is and we're testing shrek dragon's tail which i forgot during the unboxing to mention i got a shrek game on this if they can teach me how shrek is physically able to run on fire then this is an educational console for sure [Music] i can't even tell which of those four characters that was supposed to be [Music] i hate this what's the opposite of nostalgia they're an maybe our friends in this forest know where to get the magic potion right yes i don't think so [Music] we have a dispute who lives nor eat up here you know donkey you're sounding an awful lot like a robot today oh man oh this is some running animation here looks like we gotta figure out this spelling problem to get that out of the bubble why would i care just leave it in the bubble shrek you good you good there buddy oh [Music] let's see not okay well the console crashed oh well the console's crashing a lot okay hold up i don't trust this power cable setup i've got it's a little a little bit janky a little self set up and i don't know if it's good i'm gonna use batteries instead this is why i use a camera aimed at the tv because inevitably things go wrong and recorders don't deal well with things going wrong no no it takes c the only battery i don't have no why didn't they just include a cable with his console see you guys tomorrow [Music] you know stupid you know stupid batteries see this c2 you know what type of batteries these are c they say c2 because there's two of them they couldn't have put c times two or the two somewhere else they had to put it as a part of the type of battery this is a c2 battery there's g2 battery this is just c1 battery different types of battery let's go find the three little pigs who live north east of the freaking i think there's something wrong with this control stick because shrek is really jittery with it for some reason just just to just want to just please drink you can't even do anything with this [Applause] okay let's go find the three little pigs i don't know where they are i'm incapable of not being in a state of seizure i don't want to play this anymore we're trying the other game that i got the little mermaid princess ariel is a mermaid who lives under the sea he's at the thing [Applause] [Music] little higher pretty neat then [Music] this control stick is horrendous like trying to move you can't go diagonal has to be up or down and every time you switch directions she comes to a complete stop it's not funny get under the thing [Applause] it's not funny nothing happened [Music] [Applause] i hope to see you again soon goodbye no you hope i die horribly nifty i like the controller design i like the console design i like that you can put the the things in the console the games happen to have been bad shrek and the little mermaid specifically and i'm specifying because there are people out there who adore this console the fact that there is no diagonal direction on this control stick made me want to drive a bus through a chicken coop but at least if your kid happens to play this console and also want to drive through a chicken coop they'll learn how to read maybe fantastic plug into leapland adventures do it do it now so this one's like a plug and play a wireless plug-and-play in fact which is pretty cool apparently it's got over 150 plus learning items to explore that could entail quite a bit in fact every item if you think about it is a learning item for instance my phone i've learned that it can give you depression it actually looks kind of cool looks like a pretty little handy little handheld thing which i didn't expect so technically i learned that plug it into your tv with one of these which is actually like pretty cool that we've reached that point in plug and play history where for one thing it's hdmi and for another it's just a wireless plug-in that a b a d-pad and home button and of course every handheld learning console has to have a question mark button even this one has a question mark button because kids are like really stupid sometimes they get so confused and i also just realized that you won't be able to see very well what this looks like as i'm using green screen chroma effect for this video actually i'm really in this location it's just because of the strange nature of the land of which i'm recording colors are warped and strange i like that one better than telling the truth [Music] this device actually complies with part 15 of the fcc rules a place filled with knowledge and adventure would you like to quit the game well no actually select your character [Music] this won't get on my nerves you caught me i'm the color red i literally had no option but to walk forward so to submit to me as if i had any accomplishment in your capture is undermining my abilities and i feel a little bit patronized to be honest you can shut up now [Music] would you like to exit this level no [Music] i mean i'm personally not paying attention in real life but that guy is definitely not paying attention you can't put that on the screen this is for kids peace out for now shut up you are a potato i guess [Music] i could really breeze through this if there weren't so many cutscenes and unskipable things and black left them that day [Music] cutscene that's what you get for being hungover select an area we plan to explore i will try one other shape town if it has unskippable cutscenes through the whole thing and 90 of the reason that the game takes more than 10 minutes to finish is going to be because of that i won't be playing it [Music] you found me i'm a circle so this console's better than the v smile at least with the again specifically the games that i played shrek in the little mermaid this controls very responsively i could see it being quite fun for kids who don't have better things to do me i have many better things to do such as testing out another educational console the rocket twist another leapfrog product rotatable learning game system twist turn play and learn this one's i think for even younger than young kids possibly kids who are so young that their parents haven't actually been born yet it's got some incredible tech four gigabyte memory not that bad times three learning levels that that's actually pretty impressive i don't even think the playstation has that and rechargeable battery a gift for you what is it what is the gift for me no way hold up they didn't tell me they were gonna send me the charging cable oh this thing's kind of shiny though look at this baby these are all buttons i bet these all glow too it is so nostalgic to see a transparent handheld console with electronics inside i'm looking forward to testing this dude holy [Music] i'm now music station all right what do we got some ariana grande some granny on air day and these speakers are good they're about as good as sennheiser 650s and al can take a crap you get pets on this thing this is the greatest little kids console of all time which makes it the greatest console of all time by default come on egg come on come on come on come on come on come on that's not a cat welcome to blue bell's home playing games and taking good care of your pet will help it grow up this is awesome they added a chow garden sega doesn't even know how to do that who made your a birthday meter sega hasn't even incorporated a birthday meter this is awesome i want to do something different movie maker studio okay let me see if i remember how to make a super mario like a mario 1 style mario intuitive easy to use understandable this console has made me smile i really didn't think i could get any mental stimulation from any like kids video game console there's mario guys i've done it this is what do you want to do next i want to save it awesome there's even online ranking this is beautiful i can't even be mad about this okay that one hit the camera let's check out dj bass fox [Applause] this is the best console ever made bye-bye this was 33 bucks this is worth more than both those consoles combined this is a treasure among video games and the entire video game industry i finally found something in the non-real video game market that's worth playing like i wish there was a way to integrate this as as part of my identity now can i put the leapfrog rocket twist to my twitter bio part of the excitement of any of these unboxing and opening and testing series that i have is that normally i'm subjected to a whole lot of crud that i don't want to do but like just a hint of charm and clamor i mean i know i'm not entirely serious and almost everything i've ever said in my life is kind of sarcastic but i'm just sitting here i'm just playing with it cut to something else i need to stop in a sense handheld consoles are kind of an interesting retrospective on actual video game consoles not to take away from what level of video game consoles these actually are but it's almost like a parody right like people who are making these consoles are thinking what do video game consoles look like let's make something that looks kind of like them but like more fun and more kid-like when you're an actual video game developer making a console like nintendo or sony you're not thinking what do other video game consoles look like you're thinking how can i make the controller the most functional and comfortable not going to make the console look the most fashionable for the times while containing all the hardware like there's different thought processes when you make these because it's you want to make it look like a fun kid toy you want to put some crazy colors on it it's neat to see it's almost like seeing someone make a painting of a painting i know i'm getting a little complex especially considering 99.9 of the audience is it hasn't even been born yet so i'm sure it's hard for you guys to wrap your head around but i want to leave you with that and then 10 years from now you can remember this and you'll you'll think to yourself peter guy was smart he knew shame that world war 4 started now we're all dead because we didn't foresee what he was saying and that's it i had my phone sitting there the whole time with the ringer on not once did it make a sound if it would have made a sound right then and there that joke would have landed really
