[Music] right in today's video I'm taking a look at something I've just bought it is the wua strap 3 this is a bodyw warn haptic feedback Bell that is designed to enhance the experience of playing games listening to music watching movies by transmitting a level of vibration through your body similar to what you would experience if you were to have massive speakers turned all the way up or a big sub woer and yet this is a very personalized device you're not annoying people around you now I have shown something along these lines before in the past uh base transducer system the butt kicker that was in a video I made seven years ago now the butt kicker for anyone that doesn't know is a system that attaches up to your home Cinema it transmits those bass notes that we going off to your subw for through to a transducer that goes underneath a couch and vibrates the couch at the same time but I had to swap the couch out I had to swap the home Cinema out at one point and it wasn't compatible at either end with either thing so it had to go in a box so I haven't had that experience for quite some time and I do miss it I thought it added quite a bit yeah it's gimmicky but once you've experienced it you kind of want it back again so I'm hoping the woa will let me have that experience again let's find out I really don't know how this thing is going to interact with my other devices I can understand it with the phone you'll have your phone it'll transmit the audio to this plug your headphones in and then you can listen to the audio as well as feel it but I don't understand how it's going to work with my streaming system the Apple TV box where does the audio go to does it all go into here or can I have it also go off to the speakers as well as this and how would that work but we'll find out let's open it up let's see how it all operates right so here's what was inside the case we've got a carrying bag a USBC charging lead an instruction lead flirt and then the belt itself now on the top of here there are two buttons one for Bluetooth one for power on the front there's four buttons that you can push through this front disc on the bottom we've got the USBC charging lead a headphone output and what looks like a line in and then on the strap it gives you a little bit of information about how to operate and wear it now looking through this instruction leaflet there's not an awful lot going on in here I really am going to have to have a play around with this to see exactly what it does do and what it doesn't do it took a little while to get it to charge it was having difficulties charging as I'm having difficulties putting it on at the moment that is one of the problems I'm just not used to putting a strapp around my back and connecting it up like so maybe that's something you get more familiar with over time the belt comes apart and connects in through here it comes apart a little bit too easily if you move this thing up and down your body you can find it just pops out and the thing falls off it's also uncomfortable so far for me um I am not the thinnest of people yet I understand that but this thing is supposed to go up to XXL on its maximum extension and this still feels very pressured and uncomfortable of course it has to push against your body you can't have it loose but I I'm not finding it comfortable to wear now when you turn it on you get a light ring appear around here and what happens is the way it's supposed to work is you connect it up with a device via Bluetooth generally so for my setup my plan was to have it uh connect up with a home Cinema have the whole home Cinema on and feel the vibrations can't do that because what happens is say I'm watching something and I have to connect it via Bluetooth your choices are us that either Bluetooth or through the output through the television you can't have both so for example with my Apple TV box I could choose the Bluetooth output to go to headphones or I could choose the other output to go off to the home Cinema so I've got to send it via the headphone output now equally you can't duplicate the headphone output in the Apple TV you can't have it go off to say your airpods and this at the same time it has to go off to this and then you have to connect your Bluetooth headphones to this or connect headphones via a wire to this but basically this is the audio output device and then it Daisy chains off this so I've tried it with the wires I've tried it with the Bluetooth connection there is some latency but the app allows you to adjust that to get things in sync now whenever you turn the wua on or off it'll show a light ring of colors around the outside edge you can choose to have that light ring remain on while the device is powered up and in the app it'll enable you to change the color of it or you can apply a couple of different effects to it as well like this rotating collider scope I suppose it could come in handy if you wanted to cosplay as a particular superhero can you think of which one that might be I'll give you a bit of a clue that's right it's laundry man right a few days of ped and I've had quite a bit of experience with the wua so let me tell you about them the first one is I learned the best place for me to wear it is in the small of my back pushing against the spine better than putting it on my chest around my waist and I find those uncomfortable the only issue is it did get quite warm and that's because I don't think it had anywhere to to vent it heat so whilst it perhaps doesn't feel warm now it seemed like it really did heat up over time I do find it generally uncomfortable though the thing is it's distracting for me and that isn't what this should be this should be help with the immersion you're watching something and this is helping you to feel like you're there well all I kept feeling was oh there something in about that's vibrating I tried all the different uh levels of vibration I found knocking it right down to a very subtle one was about the best but it felt better when I wasn't wearing the thing at all I think the issue is that it's limited by its very nature of just being this one transducer if you think about it I mean it's just that and that's not going to make your whole body feel like anything any more than if you get your phone out your pocket and you put it on vibrating you put it in that hand does it feel like your whole body's vibrating no it's in that hand oh now it's in that hand and then if you get that put it on your chest it' feel like middle of your chest is vibrating or there's something on your chest it doesn't actually feel like it's being transmitted through to you it just feels like you've got something on your body that's vibrating it's like having a pager I suppose now as well as being quite distracting and really underwhelming it's also a device that restricts how you watch your movies because if I want the vibrations to come through this I can't have the sound coming through my regular surround sound speakers I'm restricted to having the sound come through this and then through headphones connected to this via a wire or via Bluetooth I think this is really more something for gamers I mean it does mention on the box here feel your games music and movies I would cross movies off that because it just doesn't seem to work very well for that you can connect up your computer via this to USBC and that's your digital input then you can plug your headphones into this you got your controls on there the flashy lights seem to indicate that it's more of a kind of PC gaming type device rather than something for home Cinema yeah maybe that's its area also they do a six transducer vest but that's like 500 an odd quid as far as music goes well I mean I don't know would you want to wear this outside the home put this on make sure it's charged up by the way it's got an 8 Hour battery life and then plug your headphones or whatever into this I don't know maybe there's somebody that wants to do that I can't see that being a big Market oh and I should mention here that I did experience some connectivity issues between the wuja and my Sony Bluetooth headphones once I got them paired up they were working just fine but every time you cycled the power on the wua the next time you came to use it he didn't want to talk to the headphones again you had to go through the whole pairing process every time of course it worked fine if you connected the two things together with a wire and maybe it's just these headphones but I thought I should mention that oh and while I was playing around with this the flashing light on the front fit caught the attention of the misses and she says to me what's that you got there I said hold on rather than me explain it how about you experience it so she puts on the headphones puts on the Belt I press play on the phone and after a few seconds she turns and looks at me and says is is that it is that all it does I went yeah she took it off that was the end of that but as far as music and movies I do have an idea how a product like this could work when I had that butt kicker device I always thought it was a bit of Overkill having the whole couch vibrate just to get the vibrations through your body wouldn't it have been a better idea to have like a vibrating cushion you could perhaps charge it up it could connect up with your home Cinema you could have an HDM Mi audio extractor pass through on your HDMI so your audio is going to things as normal but also getting sent off to your vibrating cushion for one of a better term I mean it isn't a completely original idea there was a Sony bbs10 which they used to promote their dd100 Budan Wartman the idea was it was the first wman that had a kind of Base boost technology they called it do at the time and you'd sit on a chair and they'd have this effectively vibrating cushion with transducers in it to give you the of look how much base there is in this wman it was just a promotional tool so I'm not inventing anything new here but I think you could bring the idea into the Modern Age have a connected vibrating cushion maybe even one that was like those massage chair type overlays you know when you have the whole thing that goes over the top of a normal chair but instead it's all about bringing bass into the body put out a Kickstarter bring it to the market in 10 years Half Baked and hardly working and I'll buy one and then regret it anyway that's it for the moment as always thanks for watching [Music]
