Although I hold Netflix in contempt (wink wink) because of what they did with source material, this fight choreography looks really decent.

Good sword fights, terrible use of magic. The sorcerers in the show are comoletey useless.
Hmmm. I’m sure that such action scene is one of the better ones in the season ( like S1). The subsequent ones will likely vary in quality. Anyway, the sword fighting is good, however everything else is either really mediocre or eerily terrible. The magic spell casting effects are very amateurish and low budget ( just like how I predicted), the weird fingers movements that yennefer does to reverse Rience’s fire ball is…. Let’s sat Unconventional lol.
The editing is really baffling sometimes. First, everything is going really fucking fast and most characters barely finish their sentences, before the next sequence happens. Idk if this specific clip was intentionally put on a default 1.25x playback speed or something, because it’s really uncanny. Looks at the weird cut at the 1:26 minute for example, when Geralt is taking cover from Rience’s fire. It’s so striking and obvious and makes me perplexed that a multi-million dollar budget production is falling for such embarrassing mistakes. I can do better with fucking clip champ ffs.
The one-liners are unsurprisingly cheesy. Well nothing to criticize her on that front. Like “yen”, Rience didn’t face your wit because you didn’t have any during S2, unless you count “fuck fuckity fuck and shitgard” as witty and smart dialogue. I swear, the writers are either trolling the audience or their self awareness is non-existent.
Lastly, why the hell are they making Ciri that strong lol. Her prowess is in her agility, and ability to evade blows not sucker and elbow punching and twisting people’s arm ffs. Also still confused about the reason for Rience’s overpowered status.
Fight choreography is good. Camera work and general production design not great though so making it look less than it is. A bit over enthusiastic with the blood VFX!
There's couple of odd cuts in it. Maybe a bit more happened that was cut out for this clip.
