The Wicked Weekend 2020 - 1/8 Off Road Racing

all right we're back here again for another jay concept video from wicked weekend here in 2020 we're in piedmont south carolina we're gonna be talking to the drivers follow along for the action for the weekend once again everybody seems to kind of like these videos it's a it's a lot of commitment doing them you know following these guys around getting the updates on how the racing's going the practice the mains the ups and the downs but it's been pretty fun and i enjoy doing it so um thanks again for joining us and uh this can be the wicked weekend we're just starting qualifying today we went through practice what do you think is going on here with the race so far and how are you enjoying being here outside in uh south carolina yeah i've been out this east coast for about almost a month now and uh racing out this way has been pretty pretty awesome the red clay out here right there has been pretty badass to drive with their wicked weekend being outdoors for this uh event given um the cancellation for the previous host uh it's been actually pretty awesome i think the more track time that we get we got a lot of track time yesterday um given that the rain didn't kind of come in for the whole day the tire of choice that we've been running is seem to be uh blue reflexes we've tried everything all the way down the list from blue uh reflexes to down bars to detox to ellipses so um it's been going good we got all the cars running out here we got jackson richard saxon out here helping out doing some racing and the jay confident security out here giving them the best tire of choice to us guys and i'm having some fun doing it and i'm looking forward to getting on the track today um it's a little it was a little rainy when we showed up here the the crew did an amazing job getting it ready and uh it's about lunchtime here and we're on the track all right ryan we're here at the wicked weekend once again uh we're checking in with everybody while the race is going on you got through practice yesterday tell us how practice went for you and what are you racing this weekend for classes uh yeah yesterday was good i'm running a nitro buggy nitro truggy and i went smooth yesterday track started out a little damp uh with some uh moisture from mother nature but it came in good at the end it was a really fast grooved in ran through a big uh selection of tires uh went the quickest on uh a2 ellipses and it rained some more last night so now we've rebuilt the track we're waiting to run our qualifier so far the track looks pretty decent and uh hopefully we can use what we learned yesterday as the track changes throughout today all right so um we ran the triggy a little bit you had a little shipment uh problem where you didn't get your engines in so you're breaking in a truckee engine here tell us a little bit about that story long story short and then uh what do you expect as this as the weekend qualifying goes in for breaking in your engine and everything yeah i always send my uh engines after a race back to adam drake for him to go through him uh do anything he thinks needs to be done like little pinch bearing rod whatever and uh when he sent him back uh he had the address right but for some reason they got delivered to a lady down the street and uh she wasn't responding to anybody they actually had to send the police over to do a wellness check on her and um ended up she's saying that she doesn't have the box but it's confirmed that it was delivered to her house so anyways no engines showed up for me so look i had a you know a backup engine for my buggy that was ready to go so i had to break in for my truck did a bunch of laps in the backyard chasing the dog around on tuesday before i came and then yesterday just kind of slowly uh running on track not not slow but you know on the rich side run a tank or two and then let it cool down kind of get the heat cycles through it but it's race time now so gotta lean around and let her eat all right dakota we're here at a wicked weekend of course so we're just coming off of pnb uh big two wins there for you but we start all over again here uh different track different condition different state what's it like to come off a couple big wins but then kind of have to reset and set your goals and sights all over again yeah i mean you know pmb went great for me it was a great way to kind of start this uh the second season out for uh 2020. um and yeah now now it's on the next race now this is the race that matters um you know did some practice yesterday got my cars pretty close on the setup uh the track was changing a lot it was kind of drying out and grooving up um and then unfortunately it rained last night so kind of starting over again today the track's gonna be different we're gonna be running different tires different compounds probably have some different setups on the car so just going to be uh the key is going to be just keeping on top of all that making making the right tire decision the right compound decision for the track and the same thing goes for the car setup that's something i was just thinking about and you know you were able to take your your personal race trailer to p and b and then you're able to kind of turn around and bring it here also and there's some kind of some nice things about that i see you got a bunch of tires stacked up behind you which is stuff normally when you're flying or traveling you can't bring all this kind of equipment you have to start from scratch mount everything new but you probably got a few leftovers here from pmb and things that you didn't run uh what's it like kind of running that uh this trailer the trailer game and uh being able to uh bring some of this stuff with you yeah it's been uh it's been really nice um my parents have been fortunate enough to uh let me uh take the truck and trailer here um the race trailer from from back when i was a little bit younger we'd you know travel to all the races that were in driving distance so decided to do that again um i haven't really been flying with everything that's been going on so just been taking the truck and trailer i'm able to bring more stuff able to like you said bring tires from uh from other races that are still new or in good condition and uh just uh just be able to have more prep and people be ready for these races um obviously it makes it a lot nicer having the air conditioning in here keeps it a little bit cooler and you know just a nice place you don't have to pack up every night so just makes it a lot easier yeah you get sort of a kind of a break too you can come in here get away from a little bit of the noise a little bit of the chaos concentrate on your equipment and then kind of settle back in yeah yeah i can you know have a quiet place if i need to rest you know we got futon in the back especially at pmb with with how long the days were so it just makes everything easier all right jackson checking in with you here at the wicked weekend beginning of the video here we're covering people to start off we've got through practice what's the expectation here for you this weekend uh you did pnp that was our last video too but uh what are you expecting here this weekend and what are you hoping for um do the best i can i think i can end up pretty well connect all the dots around the track the track's been i wouldn't say super easy but it's a little on the easy side and to hit a heart like a really nice fast lap you need to connect all the dots so i connected those dots yesterday in practice so i'm just looking forward to keeping the momentum going into the qualifying day we uh we got a little bit of rain so we're starting a little late but uh the track crew got everything dialed in for us hoping to run as many qualifiers just today as we can start maybe tomorrow all right let's talk a little bit about wicked weekend we're here and uh he drove up with us we took the van ride not uh not an easy run uh ten hours for us but uh talk to us about practicing and uh tell us about uh your predictions here for round one of qualifying yeah so practice is going well um cars are feeling awesome working with uh spencer jackson richard hey you guys um i think we got our cars pretty dialed i mean uh we were there with the ladders through their consistency yesterday so track was awesome yesterday track's looking good this morning so uh round one i think it's gonna obviously be a little a little loose a little green so probably run a green tire you know pen tires but yeah i think it's going to be good i think trash would be awesome again and hopefully we can get our rounds done [Music] [Music] raised [Music] [Music] oh [Music] all right early race leader in the tlr is the phenom i gave him that name believe it or not many many many many many years ago at the nationals now it's cavalieri out front leading the way with dakota fence second spencer rip third three of the best drivers on the planet s works out front followed by a tlr followed by a team associated three different mix and models in the top three all right spencer we got two classes in here qualifying so far uh round one kind of some surprises so far uh track's been not quite stable in conditions yet so we're all kind of guessing playing the guessing game on which tire to run and uh you pulled out two seconds so not bad yeah i mean the weather threw in a little bit of a monkey wrench last night of course we were expecting of some sort of rain um we've been kind of throwing the the kitchen sink at all the tires i mean everything that we've been putting on the car from clay ellipses to blue reflexes blue ellipses and they're all going the same speed it seems like um i'm kind of going a little bit of a hail mary i'm going to try some gold ellipses i really wouldn't say it was a full hail mary but it's something that i i feel that would be kind of good out there we ran at thornhill in texas we've ran it you guys ran up plenty of times out here in uh in florida a bunch so it's kind of an east coast thing um we'll see how it goes vapehub's up first in the the natural buggy class and the race 22. i'm raised 23 so i get the washington's on i believe he's on green detoxes and i'm going out on cold ellipses definitely opposite end of the spectrum but that's how it goes sometimes yeah i mean we're all here we all think we're the pros but we're still doing some guessing and that's kind of how this race uh this racing will go outdoors because uh once the sun hits the track um it always changes too and we're chasing we chase the track condition until it stabilizes and then we hope that we've chosen wisely oh yeah i mean everyone thinks that we think that we know it all and that's that's not even close to what we reality is i mean uh sure we have quite a bit of experience at the same time i mean every track that we go to is new the track service that we hit is all we do we're always trying to develop the tires and the cars so some cars work different on different compounds and tires so we're trying to like work together as a team with dakota with tlr mayfield with mugen and of course um us guys jackson and i um and lee are all on associated cars and doing the best we can to help to put together a nice package for everyone and um we'll see where we live okay one more round today uh of uh the first round so nitro buggy coming up and this is the one that everyone kind of flexes their muscles in this is the one everyone's kind of shooting for the tq so hopefully it stabilizes a little and we kind of figure some things out and we can get to the top right yeah i think we got a good shot that's for sure all right lee we uh pulled it off we got two you've got two under your belt now you got a truggy and an e buggy hold a good third in e-buggy um we just talked to spencer a little bit of a crap shoot with uh us selecting some tires here with the changing conditions so what did you do and uh how was your success out there yeah i went out on a green reflex i thought it would be the safest fire so to me it was super easy to drive had a great traction um so yeah i was able to pull out a third which is really good for me and then behind spencer so yeah i mean the cars are working well you know the tire selection is kind of all over the place but we're all right there in the same realm of lap times it just really depends on what we're feeling and what you think's gonna work for us [Music] [Music] hey [Music] jeffrey [Music] between those two [Music] losing [Music] it's been a crazy first round uh you've able to uh kind of salvage some really good runs despite not really knowing what to run tire-wise we've all talked about it but uh you got a tq run with the nitro buggy that's the class everybody's looking to do well in so tell us about what you did yeah i mean tires for everyone have been all over the place uh pretty much every time we've gone up there we've been running something different compared to each other so it seems like everything's pretty similar but i ran the ellipses in e-buggy and it seemed like they got a little bit better as the run went on uh so i think they kind of scrubbed it a little bit and then got some heat in them so i decided to run those nitro buggy um you know had probably another hour on the track for the dry out get it grew and uh they kind of were scuffed in a little bit so decided to go with those and they were pretty good and uh yeah i had a pretty clean run was able to get through all the traffic and stuff and uh didn't really have any mistakes all right let's see the car here all right well good run we'll see you in a round two and uh maybe you can uh take some of this knowledge and throw it to the other card right yeah okay thank you all right thanks for uh we got that uh nitro buggy run under our belts uh that's kind of the one everyone's kind of looking for and trying to see how the cars are working and we we've been going through just about every tire here today and we're hoping for some stability in the track eventually and tell us what you went with and how were you happy with it yeah like i said earlier it kind of made a last five minute tire change before i was up i went to run the gold ellipses and i thought it was best it was gonna be i thought the car was pretty good um for a last second change given that we were traditionally running o2 and aquas yesterday so it's a big difference in tire swing and the car seemed to handle it pretty dialed dakota had a pretty good run he had ryan um a good fast guy right there so they're all battling and my run i was battling with cab and coal so finished fourth i believe um within a second of tq i really can't complain um i just think it's gonna be a little bit different once we run a little bit longer races with the different compounds and tires so overall it was it was good all right ryan we got through the first round here uh we talked about with everybody it's a little hectic uh the track condition is just changing um all the time and we're just throwing everything against the wall and uh had we got a pretty good buggy run i'm sure you weren't happy with the selection of tire for the time but i think you drove well the car looked good yeah round one went pretty rough for me troggy was uh pretty bad just got caught up with a car that died on the first lap got caught in the wing and i was like a 40 second lap so can't really recover in a five minute race from a start like that and then yeah buggy i uh like you said we don't really know what to do with tires with all the rain i opted to try to green uh detox and i was racing against guys that were running you know clay compound ellipses and i wasn't too far off it was kind of was what it was and it was a lot closer in pace and um i thought they were gonna be good but ended up everybody ran that clay small you know indoor tire and i was a lot closer and pace than i was expecting to be um you know traditionally that style tires would be a heck of a lot faster but um yeah i could have probably made a little bit better tire call uh the track's really rough so it's hard to you know it's it's not like a traditional rough it's just like a lot of water bumps and breaking bumps so i wanted to try to run something kind of safe and it was a little too safe so we're getting these ready for truckee probably around the same thing in buggy for the next round and hopefully the weather holds up you know there's a big difference i mean we just came back from pmb and much bigger track the conditions being indoors is is a lot different because you essentially can run one of probably five different tires at a track like that and you can go out there and the track's kind of the separator how do you get through the whoops how you get through the bumps but this is more like electric racing where if you don't have the right thing on at the right time it's all so close you could be t2 or it could be eighth and still running decent right yeah i mean i put in a solid drive i thought no mistakes and in that buggy race and i was fifth you know i was like three seconds off um the top qualifier but you know there's two guys uh three guys ahead of me they were faster they're four guys so um yeah it's really close racing the tracks for a skill is kind of small you know running like 30 second laps which sounds normal but the track is fast like you're just full punch wide open and uh for five minutes a lot of guys on the track um so it can get pretty chaotic so tire selection is key and then you gotta get the traffic after that yeah so uh the round went pretty good i mean i went out on green detox and uh i thought the tire was pretty good um it was a safe tire to go out on wasn't as fast as like the marketplace yeah it was pretty good and uh had a few bobbles on my own so i can't really uh i can't really say anything much more than that but uh putting up some uh some aqua elixir truck and about there and uh trying to make it happen in a truck see any parts oh god [Music] [Music] [Music] hey [Music] hey [Music] is [Music] oh [Music] um [Music] [Music] very disappointed in tyler he hasn't even come up and signed the low yet in the fifth spot he sets her in six after seventh jeffrey uh jackson jeffrey and eighth actually their kid so i couldn't see much of it but i wouldn't trade that timing tower well maybe for sexy leg but all right so dakota fan one and a half seconds ahead of capillary cavalry 1.9 ahead of wiggins should be out there so every cone should be covered and then four extras good job [Music] that's what dave says [Music] number one round number three [Applause] [Music] lap he's going to go down to the six spot and pull off him with the best first half out there hp racing i'm not sure [Music] [Music] to go [Music] [Music] [Music] uh [Music] all right so the official start time weather permitting tomorrow from 9am is where we plan on starting [Music] 510 for mayfield winston in the four spot wiggins will finish fifth then it was ogden six hector bale sets her hooks hardison holyfield cavallari sniped leather and crowed [Music] can strap it up and have a zero and a two and then that would be what capillary would have so we'll go down to lapse in times here [Music] 000. [Music] end of round two getting into round three how are things going and uh just had a good e buggy run damn near a tq run as close at the end but uh yeah overall i i thought um i've been a little off pace a little bit with just trying to figure out what tires i want to run it seems like no matter what tire put on my car i'm kind of the same speed um running a gold compound tonight i'm not sure exactly what the coder ran but i assume he either ran these aquas or the gold my cars are that last round was pretty pretty good um i had a bad second qualifier for my e-buggy made some changes and was back for a tq fight so i think that's gonna put me third overall um two eight mains in that uh we're gonna making some last minute changes on my natural car from the changes that made my e-buggy i'm sure i think it's gonna replicate on both cars so looking forward to kind of getting on the track and giving it my all in the last qualifier natural buggy yeah i mean three classes here this weekend it's not easy i mean you're up you know every basically six races something like that maybe even less and uh talk to us about kind of being in that battle there for the tq at the end it was coming down to the last lap and you were in it yeah i mean i kind of had to adjust a little bit on the um the jumps i i kind of noticed i picked up i picked up on some pockets it seemed like my car is not really rotating as good as it could is in the 180s and the further i was jumping the jumps and making the car bounce and then rotate it kind of help the way i want to drive and the car accepting the um the kind of aggressiveness of of the sending it into the corner um but yeah it was coming down close cab was right there i mean the last lap i knew that i i kind of made my second the last left wasn't a spectacular lap but it wasn't bad and i kind of just went four on the last lap jumped a little bit too far on the little single single bounce and flip and i kind of knew i was probably gonna get third anyways but within a second of the guys um yeah i mean it's going to be interesting racing for sure [Music] uh [Music] tomorrow [Music] we're dancing around the world [Music] [Music] right now [Music] [Music] right spencer um qualifying is over here uh tough day man uh we're all over the place with tires the tracks all over the place um long day three rounds of qualifying yeah he finished off pretty strong though yeah um i mean it's really tough to say with us the weather coming coming in this morning kind of throwing a whole different monkey wrench into the equation um i kind of the second round of qualifying didn't really do that well for me but i kind of bounced back made some adjustments to my e-buggy in round three that was dialed made that same adjustment to my nitro car in round three as well and it was really good i went to emulsion from bladder i had a chance to tq seven tenths behind pudge and um yeah i ran gold ellipses i'm pretty sure that's what all the whole gc crew went out on uh i'm gonna start second and truck i believe third and e buggy and then for the nitro buggy but i feel like after knowing what i know now in nitro buggy i feel like i feel like i'm a pretty dangerous competitor in the main uh going into tomorrow or sunday so congrats to the our our guys dakota and mayfield out there doing doing work jackson had an awesome run so it's been awesome to see the guys do well uh the track with chuck actually had a lot of moisture come up so it's kind of like some rooster till out there and of course the the east coast style off-road uh red crate so it was fun looking forward to tomorrow hopefully the rain doesn't destroy the track and we'll see how it goes all right dakota we're uh having a long day here today it's kind of boiling over here a little bit uh last round of qualifying um looks like you're still gonna tq everything um i mean couldn't have much better day but it doesn't come without a lot of work right yeah and we got the qualifying in just in time uh it's raining right now so i had like five minutes to spare so a good job to uh the whole race team like you know getting that getting all the qualifiers in we're able to get all three rounds in uh you know what qualifying and we'll get ready for the mains now it's been uh definitely tough trying to stay in on top of the changing track conditions we did practice and then it rained and then we kind of went right into qualifying i made some wrong tire choices and compounds the first round and kind of worked from that and was able to uh have a good uh end of the first round and then second round third round so uh carry carry that into uh mains and uh just press the cars and uh you know try and stay on top of the track conditions all right we're back here saturday morning getting ready for the main events we decided to do uh the race management crew i should say decided to do three rounds of qualifying yesterday because of the weather concerns and it got all three rounds in you know as we talked to dakota and he mentioned that it just started raining after the final round and now you can see this is kind of the end result of the rain from last night they're already here working on it but you can see lots of soggy areas they're just trying to dry the straight away this is what we deal with racing outdoors the outdoor scene is really really nice to race on the atmosphere is always great but you always have the weather concerns so you can see here a lot of the soggy areas footprints we're walking around trying to see how damp it actually is and this this track is has such a high level of play content really makes things slimy and nasty you step in these areas and you're dealing with mud that you haven't ever seen before so as you can see they're already on it they're working on the track and if the weather holds out we're going to be racing all right let's talk a little bit about yesterday's after the second second and third round a little bit um you had a track kind of dried out middle of the day kind of came alive in that second round uh you gave dakota a really good run basically within a second then we got more changing conditions racing at night so talk to us about the third round and kind of running running there uh yeah it was track was a lot different than practice day um but we got the race that was the important part and uh yeah i just couldn't really get a hang of uh trying to get through the 180s fast the truckee got a little bit better buggy i still struggled quite a bit as you can see it's completely torn apart going for a hail mary if we get to race kind of still a little bad weather so but yeah i mean learned a few things yesterday uh i learned more what not to do than what to do to get steering so um i look at that as a positive at least i know to go the other direction so we'll just uh prep hopefully we get to run some main events either today or tomorrow and uh see what we can come out with i mean it's three runs i mean it's a little bit of a different race here than like a p and b where it feels like we're waiting um there's a lot of time you know during the day but here it feels more like an older type of race we would do where you're up every six or seven races yeah it was uh you know it's been good we got a lot of running in uh thursday and uh then it rained and then we ran yesterday and you know got a lot of track time yesterday with the three qualifiers and you know i got to run six times yesterday some of these guys got to run nine times with d buggy and um we got it done you know in just a couple you know i don't know what it was eight hours or so so uh yeah i mean so far it's been worth the trip we got a lot of track time uh we've basically seen two different track conditions so as far as you know testing and tuning and seeing what tires do we basically ran through every single tire i'm working on damn near every single setting on the car and so yeah in that aspect it's been pretty cool just being able to pad the notebook a little bit harley let's talk about the day yesterday we checked in here and there last thing it goes kind of a fun kind of a fun interesting day wasn't easy for sure for everybody uh talk to us about how things finished up yeah i mean uh it was an interesting day the track conditions were uh different every time we hit the track in every class so um it was a little difficult trying to figure out what tires to run but i think we all decide on something that was good for what we liked so um yeah i mean qualifying went well we uh you know we're able to make it into all three a's qualified sixth and e buggy i think seventh or eighth and shruggy and eleventh and buggy so uh not not the greatest qualifying results but uh you know we gotta make it take it what it is but yeah i mean last round of buggy had a racing incident out there with the cold but uh you know it is what it is it's racing so we're all out there competitive and trying to get the same result but uh yeah so we're just prepping for maine today and uh we're gonna go out there and make something happen all right talk to us about the uh about the tracks this morning spencer get a good run finishing off the day last night almost got a pq yeah obviously um finishing up last night with um some solid runs the track last night um just as we were getting off the track started to get some sprinkles um we ended the race just on time before the rain came in um we woke up this morning the truck was kind of wet of course they got a bunch of rain um we showed up the tracks floated looks like uh you could definitely drive a boat on the track but um we're just doing some wrenching doing um some of the maintenance doing a new clutch checking over the screws lock tight and everything um and then waiting patiently for the crew out there doing the track of course uh dave like him and his crew out there working and the local guys here at rmb um doing a pretty good job with handling the weather it's a little cloudy out today it's definitely um looking like it's going to rain here in the next few hours and i'm sure we'll be on the track tomorrow um the sooner the better but play it by ear all right jackson talk to us about uh some ups and downs here so far this weekend stuff was working well in practice track changes yeah you had a couple rough runs and then you finished off with some really good runs so tell us about your day so practice obviously it was pretty dialed the cars i wouldn't the cars weren't bad i just didn't give it a 100 when i went on the track and it showed um round one with round one for all three of the cars went great uh round two it just didn't really give it my all and round three i put in 110 and had some great runs and uh solidified some amazing results so prepping the cards doing the most out here it's cool outside the clouds and everything so we're doing the most getting ready for the mains i talked to us about the last round of buggy you gotta get i believe you got a four in there right um so how'd you do it well i didn't intend on it but i started like right behind me i started right behind mayfield on accident and gave me some room and i was like oh i'll just follow this guy all right dakota we're doing a little wrench in here you got the uh the buggy apart we talked last night you had some great tq runs tq'd all three classes piece of cake here right we've been uh we've been working hard here getting uh getting the cars all dialed in property them now for the mains and uh like i said just trying to stay on top of a track condition so again the cars ready to go um you know doing the dips and the shocks and engines and things like that depending on the track maybe redoing the disc here again changing the oil up but yeah just uh just taking this time to uh to get ready and uh prep remains so looking at the track today it's it's looking super wet do you think we're gonna be able to get back out there and do any running today i mean i i hope so it'd be nice to get some running in today and then be able to finish up early tomorrow but with with the rain i mean it looks like it's going to rain later today but you kind of never know so we kind of got lucky with the rain that we have had because it was supposed to be a lot worse looking at the radar so we'll see hopefully it misses us and that we're able to like get some more running in today but it's not looking great it'd be good to try to get the whole race done today and give us tomorrow to kind of like ease into it get back and get back on the road and get home right yeah it's always nice you know finishing the day early um be able to get back home on the weekend and stuff um just probably because i drove so yeah it would be nice um kind of a chill relaxed day and uh we'll just have to see started they're like all right a little track update here you can see they're able to get around the entire track now trying to get things smoothed out dried up a little up behind crack is coming together [Music] okay [Music] [Applause] [Music] takes a long time for that to happen but it happens [Music] [Music] that's been the ticket for most of us out on the track [Music] [Music] yeah pretty much we're all doing the same lap time so all these tires still work so so how long did this ride live it's basically 10 skills it's awesome debugging a1 coming up you are qualifier what's going to be the plan here how are we going to get into the late and make this happen yeah i mean it's going to be a 10-minute race i'm going out on the uh gold ellipses i think that's going to be the fastest tire on the way that the track is right now with a little bit of overcast motions coming up um i think that's going to give me the ticket of being able to be a little bit more aggressive than the guys in front of me and hit my marks maybe wait for the guys in front of me to battle it out maybe um take advantage of some opportunities uh other than that i'm gonna be right there with them and see where it lies all right ryan we're about ready to get going an a in a main one of e buggy you're not in this race you don't have a horse necessarily in this game what do you think is going to happen in this a1 so there's two mains yeah uh it'll be interesting for me to watch the track uh kind of take note of what all these guys were running between spencer dakota lee jackson to see what uh see what tire's doing what um and uh yeah i don't know i don't have any money on anybody at this point because it rained again overnight so we'll see what happens with the track but uh yeah i'm not running in it it would be nice to get a little feel for the track running that class but i'll be able to see how their cars are reacting on the tires and be able to make some calls for my my races coming up so yeah we'll see should probably be a pretty good fight we had a complete track redo again this morning we're kind of getting back but now it seems like guys are on at least one of two tires instead of one of about 10 uh different options where we were in round one or two but we're narrowing it down a little bit but it's still gonna be a kind of a call at the last minute yeah it's a pretty unique race because every day we've basically had a fresh track surface with them driving tractors and dragon tires and stuff to try to get the surface back to runnable conditions so yeah we've basically either been on an a2 ellipse or a gold ellipse on both cars and i think dakota's going a2 uh for this uh first day maine spencer and the rest of you guys are going on gold so it'll be interesting to see you see the difference but yeah we have a better idea now yesterday we had no idea and we kind of narrowed it down by the end of the day uh so we think we know what we're doing but we'll see what the track gives us i know it looks real pretty right now this is like a mirage right here oh sunny right before the rain who knows about that it's even like that back west all right guys let's go ahead and roll them out check them in we're going to check them in where's my turn marshalls guys where's my turn marshall's doing starts now i've let [Music] [Applause] beautiful start first time in the racetime rhythm racing dancing around the weather the best we can appreciate everybody coming out of the weekend again [Music] tires in [Music] [Music] top five jump on good 10-minute run no real mistakes right no real mistakes solid and uh we're kind of in between where the tracks dry traps wet so kind of brought both and uh this guy just uh wheeled it and pretty much flawless makes me start to finish i was just praying towards the end the car would stay together and nothing would go wrong no mechanicals no electronics but great job man so he did a great job for him and that's what he's done two more to go hopefully if we can get to race tonight today or tonight tomorrow we don't really know i will be either way we'll be ready all right things are changing quick again here at the wicked weekend you can see we got some weather rolling in everyone's starting to get a little concerned about some more weather rolling in all my volunteers we've gotten through a main number one of the buggy pro but uh and they're still racing but until we get a good storm shower um they're gonna keep racing but uh everybody's doubting the situation for a little bit good thing we got a whole another day they've been doing a great job of getting the track ready every day and volunteers guys find volunteers all right guys i need you straight to the podium top five straight to the podium don't dress up ryan days and your tq and 2020 wicked weekend [Music] [Music] richardson all right we're back here sunday morning had a rain out yesterday we got some main events in so today should be a little shorter but now we got another track condition to uh to deal with here today the track appears to be somewhat dry but they decided to sugar the track today so what that really does is is they put a layer of the grain sugar out there and normally what that does is it puts a layer on the surface if it dries it's really sticky and it's like making a prepped drag surface or just adding traction to the track we all really like the condition that we were in yesterday we were getting used to it everybody was getting dialed in and now we kind of have another new twist to the situation here so if things dry out the way they do i guess they put 200 pounds of sugar on the track so we'll see how that affects things normally that makes the traction come way up and you have to use different tires and compounds again so that's been the theme of the weekend is just changing tires and compounds all weekend we've been chasing that we finally we're stabilizing yesterday and then now we got a new twist with some sugar so if this dries and i don't expect it to be completely dry by the first race but after that it's going to start drying and i expect it to be really high grip today so we'll see how that changes things see if that the fast guys can adapt or if it helps anybody but uh i got a feeling that it's gonna change things here a little bit uh it's gonna make um make certain guys faster than they were and it's going to probably baffle a few others so we'll see we'll see how that plays out but uh fast guys still stay fast but it could change the order so we'll see how it goes and we'll go talk to the drivers a little bit about it and see what their opinion is i'm sure they're gonna be a little bit upset but uh we'll talk to them see what happens all right here we go here we go here we go marshall's ready drivers ready down and quiet all right here we go 30 minutes of a main action coming your way 40 plus nitro buggy all right spencer now we're in sunday morning got another condition again on the track we've been kind of going through this the whole time you know we got a little weather last night they stopped you guys were right in the middle of hitting richard we got some hot pit stops uh on video with uh you and jackson but uh they had to run again today richard didn't have the same fortune as he was in the lead yesterday this this uh today now he get finished second and what was it like to be in the pits and what are you seeing today with the track yeah well we finished up last night with almost a halfway point when richard was running and it started to sprinkle a little bit and they had to start stopping the races uh we finished and we heard when we were at dinner that um ryan was at the track hanging out with friends and he said that they just sugared the track put 200 pounds of sugar down and we're like oh time to change our cars changing tires um yeah we're we're pitting richard this morning again for his rerun race um the track was not as bad as it's been in the mornings past two mornings so it seems that with the sun starting to come out it's gonna start baking on the track and maybe start getting more abrasive um you know we're kind of still sticking with the same program we've been running we're probably gonna go out on cold ellipses and triggy um it's a it's a big difference the tracks we've seen like seven different track conditions it seems like and um all the tires that we've been running on all the different surfaces has been still pretty good so we're gonna go watch our teammate kade brunette and um see what he's doing he's gonna be going out on um gold ellipses so um it helps when you have some teammates go out a little bit before you see what's going on and then we'll make our decision when our races come up michael kramer and the two so that means my 11th ryan mayfield second so good race overall but you can see now the track is starting to come around the middle middle of that race all of a sudden the sun got its impact and it's a little bit of sugar starting to starting to have an impact here on the conditions and tire selection so we're going to be we're going to be making some changes here for the buggy main for sure um the track got blistering fast dakota got down to a 29 flat which is amazing mayfield was at 29.6 i believe and was driving well so i think we're gonna make a tire change here we're gonna end up going to a either an aqua r2 or o2 style compound you can see here how much grip the track is starting to get and out here doing a little blowing to the track get that dust off but uh conditions are really taken off now man did you enjoy watching that trucking race just then what'd you think it was it was nice um all right here we go good luck drivers pro-electric buggy 10-minute a2 finale going racing on the town [Music] to go two spot ryan cavallari and your tq and 20 20 wicked weekend champion dakota fanned [Music] well done guys well done all right so we're kind of catching up here we had a little busy morning today we got the truggy main went off 30 minute main and then we got uh the a2 of uh ebuggy so talk to us about uh your your placing in those classes and uh we're getting ready for nitro buggy yeah uh the triggy main is going good i knew going in that i kind of have was gonna have a pit stop a bandage i was getting good run time the whole time hitting um just twice instead of three times but i ended up blaming out twice in the pit lane on both my stops i think the temperature just being so hot kind of affected how the motor was breathing coming into pits but i ended up getting uh fourth five or six seconds behind calvin mayfield so i think overall i think the triggy pace-wise was good um just something i learned from from the next event and then e-buggy a2 the way that they're doing the the tiebreaker they're doing they're taking the ifmar so it's the single best um run and point so i was able to have a good battle with uh cavalieri in the last um few minutes in the buggy and just finished a little shy of edging him out but i got third overall car was good i ran for the first time our o2 ellipses for that style compound for that tire and it was pretty dialed um natural bug is coming up here in about 25 minutes and i'm probably going to run my old people set up i run either y2 diamond bars or o2 diamond bars just knowing what i've experienced in the past i want a car to be a little bit easier to drive through the whole run there's not that much fireware but the track has tons of tons of traction with the heat built in and of course with 200 pounds of sugar that they did last night through the big muggy wrench on how it's going to overall take so we'll see how it goes all right ryan we're getting ready for the pro buggy maine uh you had a one main so far today the pro nitro truck and went pretty well for you had some battles you were in the lead for a while talk to us about the main yeah it started out pretty good uh i had more pace in the main than i was expecting i kind of got up and battled with dakota for quite a while i had the lead for you know probably the first 10 minutes or so and uh you know i was hoping for him to make a few mistakes where i could kind of stretch it out but he ended up getting to the inside of me made a good pass and uh after that he kind of drove away truck had a lot more steering so i just kind of maintained my position um at the end there i got caught up in a little bit of traffic so cavalry was got kind of close for the second position but finished off in p2 truck was good ran our gold ellipses they got a little soft at the end so we're making some adjustments for the buggy uh like spencer said the track is had a lot of grip they put sugar down sugar sun and a lot of moisture equals traction so we're going to uh i'm going to go with a y2 detox or maybe three other style tires over here that we're getting ready and uh should be entertaining all right dakota we're checking in here with you in the trailer cooling down a bit it's already been a good day here for you we've had the uh the pro truckee main already and we finished a two of e-buggy we won both of them how'd you do it yeah uh pro truckee was good the track was kind of in that in between stage between wet and dry i believe most of the guys decided to go on gold ellipses i went on a new set so it took a little bit to break in i had a couple baubles there in the beginning and i was battling ryan for the first half of the race really close good racing um and then i was able to uh make aggressive move get by and then uh tires were broken in and uh trucks working awesome so put my head down did some fast laps and i just got more comfortable out there and was able to take it home for the win um and then in between uh triggy and buggy that grip came up a ton the track dried out sun was out and uh pretty pretty crazy grip so we actually went up a couple compounds i went out on o2 ellipses this time and our car was very good track was just insane grip uh definitely a lot different than what we had qualified on and what the chuggy main was and just all the way up until this point so made a couple changes with the nitro buggy main i think the grip is going to be even higher and should be good to go all right so uh you alluded a little bit to the pro buggy main you said you're gonna go with a little different tire right yeah uh so i'm gonna go out there i ran o2 ellipses and e-buggy and then i think i'm gonna go out on o2 diamond bars for the niger buggy main i had run r2 diamond bars in practice when the track was screwed up a little bit and they felt really solid they had good speed so i'm thinking it's going to be a good tire it's going to be safe and i think it'll still have that speed that i need [Music] and then i pull a truck [Music] uh [Music] [Music] to the back left corner [Music] [Music] [Applause] and the racing is going to be off the charts 30 minutes hot and heavy coming up [Music] [Music] marshall's ready [Music] off the start and a couple others pile in after that so let's see how it unfolds over the first lap or two here see if anybody can stand this way [Music] ready [Music] here they come down the straight away around the bracelet [Music] the tlr trying to reel in the s-works of ryan cavallari both of them the cars are going away they're going to come down to the final pit stop it could come down to pit lane for the championship eight tenths of a second between cavalieri and dakota defend the wives at home holding it down as the boys are out playing this weekend oh and dakota gonna drive right into the pipe all by himself and cost himself tons of time he turned in early it looks like and bounced off that pipe all right 7 45 to go pit stops coming up let's see where leaders end up little bit throughout the weekend you had a good weekend i got seventh there i believe in the buggy class and it's pretty good finish yeah i was pretty pumped on the rc8b 3.2 i blewed up some o2 [Music] detoxes and they were awesome i was uh something happened with one of the front runners so i was running fifth for the first stop and up until the first stop and it was a dream to drive everything was working great and then um just kind of lost a big touch with uh cole logged in frozen six for a while and then i had a small bobble and spencer got by me for six so i had a i kept seven for pretty much almost half the race i was pretty pumped on it you know i can't complain i drove the confidence out there and on that grippy and bumpy and gnarly of a track that's really all you can ask for so yeah buggy went great shruggie was the same thing as seven uh drove great the whole time confident so that's we pumped on that e-bug i think i got a fifth so that's good and uh we're carrying some momentum into the mugen challenge next weekend i'm not going to be running nitro i told a little buddy i'll be his pit guy so he can do some testing so i'm going to be running the p 3.2 e and helping out the guys so it should be fun i got this weekend over with here pro buggy final um we were just chit-chatting um you know kind of going through the post-race data and uh looking at the top five guys man it was impressive lap times you guys were doing and you know i'd say out of the top five guys everybody had a 29 one or lower may feel at 29.00 i think uh you get to 29 one or flat uh cole was right there i mean you guys were hauling what was it like in that race yeah um you know for one for one the the track definitely changed the crap ton since beginning we knew today was gonna be pretty extreme um i had a tire going and going into the day knowing that if it was gonna get to this point i'm gonna be rocking you know the y2 um diamond bars which they end up running and i definitely don't really regret it i know cav was on the bar tire um another jay constant crew they mayfield ran detoxes and um i think they could have ran diamond bar yeah the car was good it was awesome the top five guys um kav dakota mayfield cole and i they're all haul in the mail looking down to data i really thought my lap times were highly competitive towards the the top especially where dakota and ryan were i had two bad eight second crashes on my own that really shouldn't have happened but it was definitely a driver ever on my part so the car the equipment the tires i really can't blame whatsoever because a lot of times showed that it was there and definitely had an opportunity to to win or get on the top of the podium overall it was it was a good weekend i didn't do what i really wanted to do but it was definitely a learning experience um it was the first time i was able to run my our new rcap 3.2 on a condition like this so it was definitely different than what it's been in the past and i'm happy with everything and next weekend we're going to be running at the mugen challenge it's gonna be probably a completely different surface low meet loose bumpy whatever i've never really been there before so i'm looking forward to meeting uh rona mayfield and jackson's gonna help me my pit guy out there should be fun all right ryan um we're finished here at the wicked weekend uh kind of finished off with the nitro buggy main it's a great race we all we had to play the guessing game again a little bit on tire track really came around it was super cool super quick out there and you had a good race i mean you really um you made a really good charge there just had that one mistake on the back stretch that probably like you said earlier was probably just too hard to come back from yeah the car was good we kind of just guessed on uh everything i mean i was playing with setup i had a totally different setup in my car last night than what i raced with in the main just kind of put the car back to old faithful settings and the car felt good it was a little tight it kind of didn't want to turn enough on power um but it was it was in the ballpark we probably could have ran a little bit faster tire um but you know you get one shot at it and we knew the track had a lot of grip so we ran uh the trusty detox out there and they worked really well maybe lacking a little bit of speed at the beginning so it got me behind slightly and then about in the middle i put in a pretty good charge i got pretty darn close to ryan yeah and uh dakota and just made a mistake on the back left corner and that put me you know back to that six second range and then kind of just stayed there the rest of the race so overall the car was good the tires worked well um congrats to dakota on his two wins and ryan cavaliere getting the buggy in there and we got the mugen challenge next week so we're gonna pack up reset go racing again yeah i mean it's uh it was kind of a wild race and it there just wasn't uh i don't think cavallari made really any major mistakes it was almost a 30 minute no mistaker for him dakota had probably two or three pretty good crashes and then you had that one long one that one long one but uh overall it was a pretty competitive race start to finish yeah i mean i was there you know within striking distance but this track just really you could only go so fast and you know ryan and dakota were going really fast and i was trying i was going about the same speed but you know if you're going the same speed you can't catch these guys so but yeah ryan was good all weekend his car has been fast all weekend so dakota's mind has progressively gotten better started out really good on thursday probably one of the fastest cars if not the fastest but the track change i mean this was probably the fifth different track condition we saw throughout the week so overall it was interesting race we learned a lot uh we basically probably ran every frickin tire we have in our arsenal and that was nice just to kind of uh experiment and see what would work when and uh yeah we gambled in the main and uh it wasn't a bad gamble but just missing a little speed so it's all good got a podium finished keep going to the next race so we do a mugen challenge next week it's gonna come up fast you're gonna fly home fly back and uh it's really an entirely different track really i mean it's it's bigger uh different color dirt kind of a different consistency and it's gonna probably get a little bumpy so we're gonna really see a completely different track but yeah i expect you to be right there racing again for a podium and and it should be interesting to see how kind of how it plays out out there right yeah i mean this race this tracks uh like you said it's this is grooved up uh it's kind of a small quick little track lcrc we have it's been a few years since we've been there but from what i can remember it was always very big um and uh it could get dusty it can also groove up it can get bumpy um so yeah it's gonna be a totally different ball game and but it'll be fun sounds like it's gonna be a good turnout gonna be quite a lot of competitors there should be a good race and then after that we go on to surf city and then i guess the southern nets so yeah a lot of racing you know kovitz kind of uh it's not a way in the rc world but luckily we're able to go to these events with some of these you know they have some things in place here like wearing face masks and um stuff like that so we're happy to be racing again and uh we'll see everybody at the next one all right dakota we're back here in the trailer uh checking in after the uh 1 8 pro buggy nitro main and uh 30 minutes track was in good shape we went with a different tire combination than we had on the other races but um seemed pretty good track was just got a little bit more grip in it and uh just trying to make a comeback um it was a tough race yeah kev kavan awesome the whole time you know he had a couple of little mistakes in the beginning and then pretty much ran flawless as soon as he got out front so definitely definitely made it hard on the rest of us and uh yeah i made a different tire choice and i think that it was decent i don't think it was maybe the best choice but that's part of racing and uh you know i did my best i drove well and overall happy happy with how the weekend played yeah i mean two wins in a second uh three tqs it's funny how um you get conditioned in racing that if it's not perfect it's a disappointment yeah but but that the reality is two wins and three tqs in a second i'm pretty sure if somebody would have told you before the race started would you take it you'd probably take it so anything that you learned you think during the race itself or uh moving into what's your next race yeah i believe uh next race will be the southern nats um so it's another racetime entertainment race i believe that will be next month so have a few weeks to go back prep um you know maybe try a couple things in the car cars were you know pretty solid all weekend long and uh definitely the track missions were drastically different throughout the day today um this is the first time the track really dried out and they had sugared it this morning so the grip came up a ton and i made some changes to uh compensate for that and i think they were the right moves but i think i needed to do a couple more changes to uh get the car locked in for uh for the main how much grip it was and how hot it was out there so you live and you learn and like i said overall pretty happy with the weekend and we'll keep on working on it all right well great job and we'll see at the southern nationals and uh thanks for the support and we'll
