hey guys does slender match back with another great video this time I'm going to cover a topic that I've wanted to do for months this is going to be one of the funnest videos I've ever made by far although smashing that table the sledgehammer was pretty fun as well this video covers the strangest cards ever printed in all of MTG history and these are in no particular order because they're all pretty equally strange really I mean the kind of outline how in the past cuz a lot of these are really old cards the R&D department was just completely mental or not even R&D really just the card designers I mean R&D was like yeah let's print that yay but the people who came up with the idea in the first place you gotta wonder if they were like on something let's start off with one of my favorites because I've mentioned this card in other videos I love it because I hate it and there's just there aren't even words for this card it's battle of wits it reads at the beginning of your upkeep if you have 200 more cards in your library you win the game now you're probably thinking what I'm thinking if you've never seen this card oh there's got to be a way to like steal your opponent's library and put it into your library nope you got to build about a 215 card deck or so to get this working I just I've never seen anything like this there's never been anything printed like this now here's the real mystery this was printed three times they they thought it was good enough for a reprint this was ninth edition m13 and Odyssey now I had heard from a friend of mine so I don't know if this is true or not that this was actually winning tournaments like somebody top aided or a couple people top aided with this card if I lost to this travesty and slap in the face to all things decent at an actual national tournament I wouldn't just flip my table I'd flip every table within a hundred foot radius this card is ridiculous I mean it's no secret that people tend to not really like alternate wind conditions in general but this one's up there on the list I'm sure for most people because of this card they actually had to make a ruling that says in tournaments you must be able to shuffle your entire deck with any reasonable amount of time now I had heard that that another rule states that you have to shuffle your deck and be prepared to start the game within five minutes because I mean a reasonable amount of time like what is that I mean it's kind of the same as like stalling but I don't know it's it's just stupid it's just absolutely stupid but wait the weirdness doesn't even stop there it's legal and modern even though nobody in the right mind would play it and it's legal and legacy legal and vintage I don't think there's a whole lot of people playing it there either guess what it's banned in not commander so you're allowed to play it in commander just let that one sink ins singleton 100 that's legal prismatic is what it's banned in you know the format that requires you to have a 250 card deck like the only one it would logically go in so you could literally build a prismatic deck and play with it in modern but you can't play with battle of whit's and prismatic how did this ban even come about I mean what was the condition that they had to ban this it was just too serious were people winning too easily but then you can let it go and modern I just I don't get it I really don't get it next up we've got a two-for-one special because they just couldn't keep the stupidity to one card now this is back in alpha and beta and you know okay I kind of get that they had no idea what they were doing back then but um it reads chaos or I should say is flip chaos orb onto the playing area from a height of at least one foot this is not a nun glued guard people chaos orb must turn completely over at least once or it is discarded with no effect when chaos orb lands any cards in play that it touches are destroyed as is chaos orb following stars practically identical you flip it from a height of at least one foot it deals three damage to each creature it lands on and then tap all creatures dealt damage my falling star and if it doesn't turn over completely at least once during the flip it has no effect let's just run down the list on this one there is no rule that I know of stating that the opponent has to actually place their permanence within any kind of proximity of each other you could just about the moat over an eight-foot table do you have to video record proof in case of a problem with the one foot rule and does the judge have to have a ruler what if the player is disabled and can't physically perform that action is your opponent allowed to blow arrow to their mouth and try to move the card bolts in midair it doesn't say they can't do that why is it that although these cards were banned in every single format no I'm not kidding they came up with a ruling on October 4th 2004 that it must flip like a coin and not like a frisbee I mean how do you have a ruling if nobody can play with it was it just banned later when they realized that this entire mechanic is completely stupid then again I should talk I mean I've been talking about adding like Nickelodeon style like old school Nickelodeon physical challenges to like and he kind of turned him and I run like to give people like more points or more extra Mulligan's or something like you gotta like run an obstacle course so yeah whatever sounds except I would design next up we've got one of my personal favorites because I would write this card slightly differently it's Shahrzad and it's from Arabian Nights it is currently legal in exactly no formats at all and it makes me wonder if they had 50 minute rounds back when Arabian Nights came out because this is just stupid I would use this to just piss off the pros at like a Pro Tour if that was even a thing back then I don't even know what was going on back then clearly the car designers were just completely mental what it says is and if you're able to read this by the way on the card good for you you just passed your eye exam because this is like size one font platers play a magic sub game using their libraries as their decks each player who doesn't win the sub game loses half his or her life rounded up now that isn't actually what the card says that's the Oracle text this was so royally screwed up that they had to like rewrite the card but then they banned it in every format I don't get it it must be another one of those like timing things but to the best of my knowledge the card appears to say players must leave game in progress as it is and use the cards left in their libraries as decks with which to play a sub game of magic or just man when the sub game is over players shuffle these cards returned them to libraries and resume game in progress I mean they wrote it like they took a like like words to shorten it and it didn't help like I can barely make this out this is just unbelievable anyway with any loser of sub game having his or her remaining Life Points rounding down effects that prevent damage may not be used to counter this loss of life the sub game has no ante because ante was a thing back then using less than 40 cards may be necessary we're 40 cards even like are they talking about sealed I mean I don't even play back that I don't know what this was but I'm glad I didn't play back then if they're gonna print a card this immensely stupid and time wasting and idiotic what they should have done this is what I would have printed on it is the two players of the game arm-wrestle and the loser loses half their life simple a rather similar card and I know people are gonna have a problem with me saying this one because it's not truly like really a card like it is a card it doesn't have a set symbol so is it really a card it never was legal in any set because it's not in a set but I'm naming it anyway because it's just really funny I'm of course talking about splendid Genesis now I'm not going to go into the whole history this card because you all probably know it if you don't look it up it's awesome but what it does is for for green mana as a sorcery you can shuffle all cards in the game together and deal them into three decks the game continues with a new player good luck even casting anything with that color max I just I love that card I wish it wasn't like $14,000 and of course lastly if I'm going to mention splendid Genesis I guess I have to mention fraternal exaltation for for blue mana as a sorcery you can sneak into your parents closet to get a new deck your new brother is joining the game okay that really both of them aren't even like real real cards they were just kind of they're printed and limited-run just look up the story it's hilarious well that's it for this video but I'm sure there's some more weird cards out there so there's probably going to be a part 2 part 3 part 4 and probably part 50 because they've printed some weird weird stuff if you guys have any suggestions for ultra weird cards that I can use in the future feel free to leave them in the comment section I'll see you guys next
