in this video I'm going to show you how  I repair this big dent on a mini quarter panel. Just by using the Paintless Dent  Removal methods. It's raining outside,   I'm going to get this vehicle  inside, and show you how I do it okay so let's take a look at the dent in a bit  more detail there's not much to say really other   than it's a big dent I think this has been  created where the car's been parked up   somewhere and someone's come along and fallen  into the into the panel and that's what's dented it  It's about 400mm from top to bottom, 260mm  side to side, there's two very uh defining crowns   which have got a lot of tension in there, so what  that basically means is I can't get the plunger   on it and pull it out. Although it would make it  look a lot better it would still have these big   crowns these big creases. These need tapping down, so that that release the tension and the pressure   and make the dent pop out a lot better or make  it repair a lot better should I say. The panel   is steel how am I going to repair this, well I'm  likely to Glue pull the majority of this damage   and I've noticed that the door edge is also widened as well, so this tells me that when the   Dent's gone in, it's pulled the panel edge inward which has created this gap on the door.    I'm thinking of popping two glue tabs onto  the panel like this and then pull in that way   and again that will release more tension and more  pressure in this Dent, and help it pop out repair sorry! Okay I'm going to set up the glue pull  so first of all what I've done   is I've just prepped the area with some isopropyl, and then used the heat gun to burn off any of the  residues. So first of all I'm going to be  setting up a sideways pull so that I can   pull this way close the gap and hopefully  take off some of the tension in the panel   so I'm using an Ibar okay... pop the glue on  there, stick it on the panel and then using the   ratchet strap, I can attach it one end to the Ibar another end to the top hinge on the door   and then using the ratchet I can take up the slack in the strap, and then start pulling sideways Okay let's see what happens I'm not expecting   this Dent to pop out, but if it  does it'll be nice! but let's just see what happens... I'm only going to  put a slight bit of tension on there ok Yeah I'm happy with that! I'm going to get a bit of cold glue on   the top and the bottom Parts  again just see how it reacts   I do expect these crowns to still be  there afterwards but uh let's give it a shot Let's get this GLEXO cold  glue, get it all nice and warm   even though it's cold cold glue still  needs a little bit of warmth in there   once it starts sticking to  your fingers like that it's ready stick onto the slide hammer, again see what happens! wasn't too shabby was it, that? marvelous okay I'm going to take this off.  just unscrew it then I can shut the door just see if the gap on the doors come back and  yeah just a quite a bit of the crown work to do    A lot of tapping down but I would say about  75% of that damage has come out pretty easy Okay that door gap is looking great I  just need to tap a few crowns down so with   my hammer and knockdown I'm using a leather tipped blunt nose knockdown this is excellent   for tapping down those high areas, those Crown  areas.. so I'm just going to be   carefully tapping them down and then I can go back in with the  glue and I can pull those low areas out I'm just going to change to the  the fog board from my line board. So when I'm repairing large area dents  or big dens I like to start off with a fog board because I can see a lot but then once  I start getting into the detail I like to go   back onto my line board it's just a different  source of reflection   so we've got the quality control board there  as well so once I'm finished I can check the   area and just see if there's any kind of  imperfections but personal choice you   can either use fog or lines I like lines so  I can see a lot more detail so I'll carry on okay that's as far as I'm going to take it  with the top crown there's just a bit of a dent   there a low area so I'm going to put a glue  tab on there let's have a look    something like that! Pop the glue on there and then stick it onto the low area   or the dented area and then give it about 10  seconds something like that what I tend to   do is just feel the the edge of the glue if  it sticks to your finger then it needs a   bit longer to uh to set once it stops  sticking to your finger it's ready to pull okay spot on the top part of this quarter panel  is very strong and this is due to its   convex shape so I need to keep going  over the area multiple times applying   and reapplying the glue tabs to the low  areas of damage lifting them up with a   slide hammer and then once I've removed  the glue tabs with the isopropanol I   can see if there's any high areas that  I need to tap down with my hammer and knockdown so I've just tided up the top part a  little bit but there's a lot of ripples there   so I just need to uh to blend them back out  with various knockdowns using the the blunt   nose knockdown a cherry cap and just a  blunt nylon knockdown so using these three I   can I can smooth out the top and then work my  way down again there's some more little ripples   here and there's quite a shallow low, shallow  dent there, then we've got this final lower   crown at the bottom. So a lot of tapping  but it's coming on and looking really good The bright green crease tab that I'm using  on this repair are brand new tabs from   DB Dent Tools these are part of a Hulk series and  this one's called the plastic green nylon tab   you can get them in all different shapes  from creases circles squares and hexagon   so if you'd like a set for yourself  I've popped a link in the description below Okay I've finally smoothed the top part of  this damage up it took about 3/4 of an hour to   smooth out using various tabs but now I need to  work down a little bit so I'm going to take this   tab off because I don't need it anymore there's  a shallow low here and then we've got another  crown at the bottom. okay so this is where the sideways pull eye bar was so it's just   pulled a bit of a high spot there and then this is  the low that I've been talking about so I'm going   to pop some glue tabs on there give it a pull  see what happens and then carry on  downwards I'm going to place the crease tab into  the dent and then whilst the glue is setting I'm   going to tap down this small high area towards  the door Edge and then checking the temperature   of the glue with my infrared thermostat. Once  it cools down to 29° C the tab is ready to pull There are lots of other areas that need pulling out  so I'm going to glue multiple tabs on at once. This speeds up the repair process rather than just  sticking one tab on at a time and then pulling it. This Central Dent is taking quite a bit to  repair I put a few tabs on there just tried to   pull it but it's not wanting to come out so that  can only mean that this bottom Crown has still   got quite a lot of tension in there. So what I'm  going to do is I'm going to change direction of the repair, tap this crown down get the bottom looking  all nice and flat so there's no crowns or no   highs and lows and then go back to this Central  dent and hopefully it should repair a little bit easier. I'm warming up this area with  a heat gun to about 70° C and by doing   this softens up the area and this is lowering  the yield strength of the steel so it takes   less far to get the steel moving and  this will really help me repair this crease. Okay that is the bottom Crown taken  out now to be fair I should have known top and bottom crowns   knock them down to relieve pressure then the middle should come out so back onto the middle now and hopefully it  should repair a little bit more easier. we hope.. I'll soon find out! Another glue tab that I love to use on these  repairs is a smooth crease tabs from Black Plague pdr.com These are the gangrene edition tabs and just like the Hulk tabs They come in different shapes and sizes so  you can get crease oval and round again if you'd   like a set for yourself I'll pop the link to these  tabs in the description below.  Okay getting back to the repair I'm just checking the temperature  of these tabs it's just gone slightly less than   29° see and now I'm ready to pull with a slide  hammer going to give it a few light tugs and   then I'm going to remove these tabs with isopropanol  always checking the progress using my line board   to see where the highs and lows are. Then  I'm going to blend down the highs with the   nylon knockdown and a blending hammer   Then I just need to keep repeat this process over again gradually minimizing the damage until  I can't see any more ripples using the reflection source Throughout this repair I've only  been using the glue pull repair system   but there is another way of repairing this  panel on a mini .The rear arch moldings can   come away way and there's some holes with  grommets there if you take away the grommet   you can slide a bar in to the back of  its damage and you can also repair it   using PDR tools, but on this repair I was  comfortable using the glue from start to finish. I'm at the final stages of the repair now  the reflection of the lined board onto the panel   shows that there's hardly any imperfections  there's only a few little bits to iron out I think I'm about done I can't see  anything I'm struggling to see anything  now. Yeah wow! That took me over an hour to  to finish off the middle bit it took   a long time to actually straighten that out   using the various tabs and various knockdowns   I finished off using a very very sharp tipped   steel, polished tipped knockdown just to find   tune those little bits but yeah, I am very  happy with that I'll just move that out the way and have a look with my inspection  board or my quality control board Just get my phone. and I'll show you guys what it looks like now. That's that side and  we'll check from the opposite direction. Looking good from this angle as well so  that is the dent completed this large one is all done there's just a couple more around  the panel which I'm going to tidy up for   the customer but yeah that's it. Thank  you very much for watching the video till   the end. I really appreciate it I'm Martin Sadler from Dent Remover see you in the next one Cheers
