The Wallace & Gromit Iceberg | A Cracking Dive into the Franchise!

greetings Wallace and gromet is a British created stopmotion franchise created by Nick Park and produced by the goats down at Aran animation it's Stars Wallace an exceptionally talented inventor with a big mouth and an even bigger neck for cheese and grommit Wallace's anthro dog and best friend who plays the straight man role and he doesn't even need any dialogue to do so my earliest memory of this franchise was watching a screening of Loaf and Death on Cartoon Network way back when and just being blown away at the animation because like it's Clay that moves my Play-Doh don't do that just kind of lumps around like a piece of [ __ ] I love this franchise everything from the movie to the shorts to the spin-off to this [ __ ] penguin actually I hate this gun and let's not forget the cheese anyway today we are going to be taking a cracking Dive In into walls and grommet fun facts lore theories and trivia with an iceberg format if you don't know what an iceberg chart is then you do grommet Iceberg give now [Applause] yeah thank you Wallace and grommet saved Winsley Dale kicking off the first entry on this Iceberg we have the story of how wals and grommet actually saved a cheese company from bankruptcy in the late '90s that being of course Winsley Dale Winsley Dale Cheese is a cheese produced in the towns of hws and winsdale North Yorkshire England yeah it's an actual Place Believe It or Not Winsley Dale Cheese was first made by French cian monks from the Rog Fort region who had settled in winsdale they brought with them a recipe for making cheese with sheep's milk the winsdale pastures give the cheese the unique flavor for which it is renowned good winsdale has a Supple crumbly moist texture and the flavors suggest Wild Honey balanced with a fresh acidity this [ __ ] look nasty as [ __ ] that it does and apparently a lot of other cheese enthusiasts shared that opinion Because by the 1990s sales had fallen so low that production was at risk of being suspended luckily this is where Wallace and his unhinged jaw come in serious you crush breaks with that thing holy [ __ ] was that The Bite of 87 inspiration struck when in 1995 Wallace proclaimed winsdale as his favorite cheese in a close shave winsdale had previously been mentioned by Wallace in A Grand Day Out as he wonders if the moon is made from the cheese animator Nick Park said he picked the cheese solely because it had a good name that would be interesting to animate and was completely unaware of the company's financial difficulties okay wow wow okay so the company was literally only saved because they had a funny name bro I imagine only being saved cuz your goofy ass name I can't be after the release of a close shave sales of Winsley Dale began to rise the company avoided bankruptcy and credits wson grommet for saving the brand in 1995 the company contacted armman animations about a license for a special brand of wall grum at Winsley Dale which has proven to be an enormous success in 2005 in conjunction with the release of the curse of the wear rabbit the company released curse of the wear rabbit branded cheese walls and grommet continue to appear on winsdale cheese to this very day wrong trousers song replacement in the original broadcast version of the wrong trousers gromit's birthday card plays happy birthday however when released on DVD it plays for he's a jolly good fellow he's aolly good bir cuz you know this was back when the Happy Birthday song was still under copyright for some God for second reason you know the deal for he's a jelly good fellow is still like fully a better song though like don't add me I'll take that to my grave [ __ ] oh yeah and also the music that feathers is playing to annoy grommet has been replaced by organ music the reason for this change is also due to copyright [Music] issues Grand Adventures wson grommets Grand Adventures is an episodic graphic adventure game based around Wallace and gromic going on a few weird and Wacky Adventures the game was developed and published by Telltale Games in 2009 so you're saying before breaking the hearts of every single gamer in 2012 and crafting the boat goat Kenny that they made a [ __ ] Wallace and grommet clicker game that's awesome come on let's jump Grand Adventures consist of four episodes fright of the Bumblebees The Last Resort muzzled and the bogey man all brand new stories for the walls and grummet franchise created specifically for this game my favorite out of the lot has probably got to be the bogey man let's go golfing let's go golfing anyway you can pick this game up on Steam for about 15 smackers which I'd say is more than worth it considering its four whole chapters even then I've frequently seen it go for five bucks during sales so I mean when one of those rolls around you got no excuse unless you don't got a PC then that's probably like a valid excuse I don't know characters named after British towns Preston the cyberdog is named after Preston where the homie Nick Park grew up windolene Ras bottom and Lady tottington are also named after nearby Towns New York Taxi incident this one's quite the emotional roller coaster so fuckle up one day in 19 1996 whilst in the pouring ass rain and I mean pouring the creator of wals and grommet Nick Park had to take a taxi whilst in London for a promotional tour and accompanying him in the boot of the taxi were two oscar-winning models of Wallace and grommet which consisted of Wallace on his motorbike and grommet on his plain shifting dope ass side car from a close shave that these models were just chilling in a suitcase mind you this next part of our story is the equivalent to taking an Uber with your kids and leaving them with the Uber driver Nick potentially being in a rush or drunk off his ass on tea I don't really know completely forgot about the 6,000 pound models of his Creations vibing in the taxi cab and went along with his business very soon after he then realized he [ __ ] up and started boosting after that taxi cab but it was in vain as he unfortunately didn't have the leg work required to out trck a goddamn taxi and they got away off to a brand new Adventure or to be sold on some shady auction it wasn't really clear where they would end up after the news broke Nick Park obviously devastated after the whole ordeal was quoted saying I feel as though I've lost my best Pals damn this truly is one of the most heart-wrenching stories of walon gromit's entire history oh you you thought that was the end of the story well you'd be wrong [ __ ] because the MVP of this story is here that being the taxi driver of Nick Park on that faithful day the Vigilant Taxi Driver whose name is name and address withheld saw the news reports 2 days after the incident and realized oh damn I got to get these [ __ ] back to the rightful owner so he called up Nick Park and they were back in the hands of their father surely he's got to lose custody after that whole thing though like I I mean am all right now here we get to the part where the driver solidifies himself as the ultimate Chad after returning the models he was offered 500 lb up front and this dude declined the money saying that he quote did not want to be a hero what a [ __ ] hero bro returning models worth 6 grand not claiming a reward in just [ __ ] leaving has got to be one of the most big dick plays I have ever seen yo huge shout out to this guy like wherever he may [Music] be DreamWorks tried to Americanized walls and grommet this is disgusting this is out of pocket this is a heaping load of oh [ __ ] on DreamWorks part basically what this is is that dream Merks wanted to exploit ardman into doing a cultural shift and take take away the British culture from our favorite Duo which is like what bro wson gret just wouldn't like work Americanized imagine the lady killing cheese loving bastard of Britain turned into a wife beaten [ __ ] not going on about cheese and crackers but like burgers and hot dogs and Bob or like whatever the [ __ ] I I don't know this is just one of the many examples of the incredibly rocky relationship between armman and DreamWorks luckily this whole thing fell through because let's be fair nobody wanted that [Music] [ __ ] Star Wars crossover [Music] [Music] memes [Music] sha the Sheep is a spin-off sha the Sheep is a character most known for his role in the walls and Grandma anime called a close shave and after Sea success as a character the creators at armman decided to create a spin-off show called sha the Sheep it was created by Nick Park and Richard starac who actually wrote All 170 episodes the program first aired in the UK on CBBC in March 2007 on off the B this show revolves around the protagonist sha the Sheep the leader of the flock sha exhibits typical human behavior which causes the other sheep to view him as their leader in times of confusion we also got the boy bitzer and apart from looking like that Family Guy dog that was there to replace Brian for like a week bitzer is well aware of Shawn the flock and the rest of the animals on the Farm's High Intelligence to the point where most of them can play sports dance solve math problems build forts and even stand on only 2 ft if they want but although bitzer knows about the animal's true nature he tries to ensure the farmer never finds out about it so he won't go into a complete State of Shock or lead him to think he's going insane oh yeah and speaking of the farmer Ferb's dad from Phineas and Ferb this ginger [ __ ] with no eyeballs and a Luigi ass nose goes by the farmer first named the last name farmer Jesus Christ This Guy's parents were so dead set on this guy's ugly ass being a farmer they made it his whole ass name just the farmer one dozen crying cows on the farm thanks Farmer Brown this guy's a [ __ ] moving on next we got this round ass sheep Shirley Shirley is by far the biggest member of the flock being roughly four times the size of the average size of her fellow sheep due to her size Shirley does not move as much as her flock mates she can usually be spotted on the fields of the farm eating anything that comes in her path in addition to being a big sheep she has been shown to act as a storage facility as her rule is frequently used by the other sheep to hide their belongings that they wish for no one else to find there are more characters I could go into but I can't be asked so let's just give a synopsis of the show well for stars it still retains that same stop motion animation We've Come To Love from walls and ramen which is always a pluss and hell it must be good considering it has two feature ass long films at this point I would dive more into the show itself but honestly I think it deserves something for its own so let's just move on the Great vegetable plot SL trouble at the Mill these were the original titles for the theatrical film of wals and grommet which was eventually changed to curse of the we rabbit which I mean I think was a good decision on artman's part cuz I I don't know about you but I'm not trying to go out and see the [ __ ] great vegetable plot [Music] like Ben Whitehead Ben Whitehead is the newest voice for main character Wallace as the original voice actor Peter Silas sadly passed away in 2017 Ben Whitehead first acted as Wallace in the Wallace and gromic Grand Adventures game mentioned above and I got to say over time he definitely has learned to perfect the performance like it sounds pretty spot-on to how Peter Salah sounded like listen to this another happy customer on to the next one alad where are we off to from Fairy lines it's sad Peter is not still here with us but if this this is the guy who gets to carry on his legacy then I think we're in good hands cracking Contraptions these are a series of 10 1 to3 minute shorts made in 2002 these were put up online shortly after being broadcast on the BBC Network these shorts revolve around Wallace using a bunch of constractions he designed for the purpose of doing I mean well honestly just everyday things like cooking going to the supermarket sleeping vacuuming changing the TV channel and and so forth cuz I mean I guess he just can't be asked to do these things the normal way I mean for fair play nickas one thing you'll notice about these shorts is how grommet always seems to get the [ __ ] end of the stick such as W destroying his snowman wall making him guide a paraplegic Cheese robot wall making him bounce on whatever the [ __ ] this thing is 500 times Wallace damn near frying his ass alive Jesus Christ punching the [ __ ] out of him sending him flying through a whole ass door making him Wrangle a bloodthirsty vacuum cracker bot whilst trying to murder him by pelting him with balls Jesus Christ Wallace what did grommet ever do to deserve this like look I know he might have nibbled on your cheese the other day but there's no need to resort to violence version too so uh you can check those out if you like want to do that a grande out uncut script according to the book The World of wals and grommet original plans for a grande out were that the film would be 40 minutes long including a sequence where Wallace and grommet would would discover a fast food restaurant on the moon regarding the original plot Nick Park said the original story was that Wallace and grommet were going to go to the moon and there was going to be a whole lot of characters there one of them was a parking meter attendant a robot cooker character you know the only one who remained in the actual short there were also going to be aliens which was eventually brought into play in the Sha the Sheep faragon movie and there were all sorts of other stuff there was going to be a McDonald's on the moon and it was going to be like a spoof of star St Wars wal was going to get thrown into prison and grommet was going to have to get him out but by the time Nick came to armman he had just started doing the moon scene and somebody told him it's going to take you another 9 years if you do that scene so he had to have a check with reality and cut that whole ass bit out I mean he had to tie up the story and finish the film you know definitely an interesting way things could have turned out though you know if they like gave him those nine more years of development fluffles tried to stop Pella in the short a matter of Loaf and death pella's dog fluffles was very heavily implied to get abused throughout the entire short until at the very end where she finally stands up to Pella after it's revealed that the cake Pella gave to wals was a bomb fluffles bites Pella to stop her and in response Pella says you cross me once too often you treacherous little this could mean that fluffles has tried to stop haa in the past and could also explain why she is treated so poorly is not an uncomon thing on the internet project Zoo wson grommet in Project zoo is the title of a platforming video game produced by bam entertainment in 2003 for the PS2 GameCube Xbox and so forth oh so this is just another one of those hundreds of shitty licensed platforming games with a weak plot janky controls worthless Collectibles and no replay value because 100 pering just isn't worth it no well actually yes that's exactly what this is the plot focuses around everyone's favorite walls and grommet character Archie wall and grommets adopted polar bear with glasses what do you mean you don't remember him he's the best character from the short well yeah anyway it's Archie's birthday and walls and Gromit go to surprise him at the West WABE Zoo only to then see it's Under New Management it's feathers Mill I am not crazy I [ __ ] hate this penguin so [ __ ] much I [ __ ] hate it anyway so he's taken over the zoo and forced all the baby animals into cages to force their parents to do slave labor yada yada six levels and mind numbing vehicle sections later and we've done it he's back in jail let's go yeah it's not the greatest gaming experience out there checks all the boxes for a generic early 2000s platformer but it does have some charm it's walls and grommet after all it's no Grand ADV Ventures though curse of the we Rabbit game sweeps it too honestly underrated gym right there no matter your stance on how the game holds up I know it was a pretty big part of some people's childhoods and who am I to diss their flow Wallace has autism Theory greetings internet welcome to autism Theory I'm your the [ __ ] was that wallst having autism is a very popular theory in the wals and grommet fandom one that sticks out to me personally because well I also have eism I know who who who would have thought although even still I I I don't think I'm the right person for the job on this one so I have brought in my very thorough friend of very thorough research Nat Peterson to break down everything pointing towards this Theory take it away hello I'm a very thorough man of research and I would consider myself an expert on autism considering the man I have had the displeasure of being bound to for the past 12 years it's me it's talking about me anyway let's talk autism wall showcases several traits found in autistic people such as his cheese hands he does when expressing his love for cheese or when he's just happy he also has a habit for moving his fingers in a comprehend and his consistently strong relationship with grommet he is shown interjecting his detailed schematics for little puzzles such as playing tic tac toe by himself and there's definitely more [Music] CGI rabbits in the hit film curse of the wear rabbit as a way of saving money and being on time the team used CGI rabbits in some parts of the movie you know pretty standard practice I mean I I wouldn't want them to have to mold and animate like three bedillion rabbits by hand and some of the movement of these bunnies would just be impossible to actually do IRL like I mean h how you how are you doing that anyway see if you can spot all the CGI rabbits when you go and see walls and Grom at a curse of the wear rabbit in theaters October 5th 2005 World Of Invention World Of Invention was a series created in 2010 it was the last project Peter Salis voiced Wallace in and the series was fairly short lasting only six episodes Wallace is the main narrator of this show while grommet seems to take a bit of a back seat and just help out on set and get tortured even more but we move Gano contrary to what the name might have you believe the show doesn't have much to do with the two Lads like at all it actually revolves around showing off cool ass inventions like look at all this [ __ ] it's pretty cool I suggest giving this show a watch if you haven't already the runtime of the entire show is a little under 3 hours so I mean give it a watch in [Music] it Wallace and gromit's Children's Charities now this is what grommet Unleashed really is but before we can understand that we need to understand Wallace and gromit's Grand appeal a charity founded in 1995 that funds exclusively for Bristol Royale Hospital for Children and St Michael's Hospital how did they raise money you ask well that's where the project known as grommet Unleashed comes into play in July 2013 there were 85ft tall fiberglass grommet statues decorated by various artists picked by Nick park across the world spread about the streets of Bristol so yeah those little statues that were mentioned above okay so like imagine those but like ginormous and spread around a city like a game of hunt them down and hunt them down people did as they released a smartphone app called detecto grommet to Aid in the search for only 69p the money collected from the app went directly to the Grand appeal Charities imagine like not knowing about the Charities or Wallace and grommet and just seeing a million [ __ ] multicolored dogs invading your city that must have been quite the experience after the project met it and on the 3rd of October 20133 every statue was sold off at auction the rough estimate pre-auction for how much money would be made in total off auction was 1 million they made 2.3 mil it was a Smash Hit with the highest grossing one being the Buzz Lightyear grommet selling for 65 Grand helping the hospitals get more equipment and saving the lives of many children in the process yo shout out to Nick Park and everyone who is involved in this project because that is absolutely amazing this smashing success of course spawned many sequels over the years such as Sha in the city grma Unleashed on tour gromet Unleashed Two grommet unleashed the Grand Adventure and most recently sha by the Sea cracking cor lad let's do our bit the right trousers H you know I I actually haven't seen this yet or heard anything about it but it seems to be some kind of wholesome fan project I think I'll check it out Isaac died the right trousers is a disturbing short featuring a liveaction Wallace and grommet it starts off with Wallace who is clearly not voiced by Peter Salis talking about how he'd love a cheese toast which grommet I mean a a demon disguised as grommet replies by grabbing a block of cheese carves out a dog bone then Chucks it on Wallace's plate along with a slice of toast what a g afterwards Wallace starts going on about how lonely he is and how he's not good with women grommet silently mocks him before Wallace sips his tea [ __ ] hell Wallace goes on about how the reason for this problem is all because he can't dance and the reason for this is because he doesn't have the right trousers till now he unveils his new invention a pair of trousers that automatically dance whenever music plays he leaves grommet at home so he can test it out at a dance hall which we see grommet just sitting around watching the classic motion picture pop fiction Wallace then comes home with a lady showing that it worked and now they're about to have sex that is a sentence I just uttered right as she starts to take his trousers off grommet turns on the music as a prank to make him dance which scares her off and then it ends now I know what you're thinking what like the [Music] [ __ ] which yeah good question where did this come from did [ __ ] David Lynch make this needless to say those who came across this on YouTube were baffled by it it's weird looking costumes canned laughter and a lack of context creates this Eerie atmosphere for the video well by looking at the opening credits the origin is not that hard to find mind this was a skit featured in an episode of the Lenny Henry Christmas show aired in 1995 this was a Christmas special for the Lenny Henry show a sketch comedy series which a on BBC 1 going for Seven Seasons who also plays both Wallace and grommit in this sketch he's also played several other roles in TV and film including big and small holy [ __ ] that was him right now the sketch is more remembered for how surreal it is and creeping out those to stumble across it on YouTube man screw the Declaration of Independence it should have nuked us outright so yeah that's what that is pull up on your block with the Glock I make you [Music] [Music] rock better gnomes and Gardens this is a stop motion Simpsons parody of walls and grommet that revolves around walls and grommet oh oh wait I'm sorry Willis and crumble running a garden gnome repair company and doing some [ __ ] now that I think about it this bit is actually more of a homage than a parody like I mean it's got everything it's got the stop motion animation that big ass mouth type art style no not like that like this it's also got the weird ass Contraptions a love interest that big ass nose grommet torture porn Wall's cheese Obsession has actually been replaced with a armite Obsession so I mean that's something this bit also has a main antagonist that being this stupid [ __ ] putty the Parr bird I hate him just as much Willis even has the [ __ ] Wallace cheese hands you know it's it's pretty dope traveler Tales game pitch this was a CGI animation made in 2000 as a proof of concept to try to persuade artman to allow traveler Tales to make a wals and grommet video game it was meant to show that CGI could simulate the stop motion animation that armman was famous for the pitch was ultimately unsuccessful looking back on it yeah I mean it looks pretty dog [ __ ] now but for a pitch video from 2000 it's not too [Music] bad LG Life's good this refers to awesome names of pella's victims all right so you know the Bakers Dozen that Pell entirely murdered well it turns out Bob wasn't the only one who was named cuz we got Norbert sto Wayne scales Rich tea biscuit basil dumplings phillow pastry bread Esther quy Richards crusty rolls herb Bretta Shorty Short crust Brendan butter pudding and of course the G Baker Bob ripped to all the homies Arachnophobia crackers in space and the lost slipper these were a series of walls and Grandma audio books released from 1997 to 1999 audible before its time my friend so uh yeah hit these up if wall is spouting words into your brain for 4 hours sounds like a grand old time I'm in bread myself anyway there was this one line in the Lost slipper of w being pissed that I thought was pretty funny so I'm going just use it as this stop go Gromit Gromit you're in the dogghouse mate until we can save civilization from this hopping mad shoe shortage Malak we've created you better get busy with the time machine repairs I'm going to my cellar continuity between shorts I guess this could be referring to the fact that there is in fact continuity between the shorts I mean like yo what the [ __ ] grommet from the wrong trousers is in a matter of Loaf and death too like what the [ __ ] okay n n for real though this is probably referring to continuity errors like the one in a cloche where the sleeves of Wallace's green shirt over his overalls just disappear without him taking them off and never come back and there's also a few minor ones like things disappearing or being in different places and [ __ ] Peter Hawkins grommet voice clips the notion of grommet talking is is always a disgusting one however that very well could have been the timeline as when creating the short a grande out Nick Park originally wanted to make grommet speak the person he had in mind to voice him was Peter Hawkins known as the original voice of DX and Doctor Who and he recorded gromit's dialogue all in one morning according to Nick the dialogue would have been grommet repeating everything Wallace said in a doggy voice kind of like a Shaggy to Scooby kind of thing Nick then realized that gromi could speak with his eyebrows and ears thus grommet became a mute character thank God one scene that led to this decision was when Wallace is using grommet as a support beam while he saws a door in half and grommet reacts silently while the dialogue was fully recorded it has never been heard by the public gromit's only pieces of dialogue in a grande out were snores and simple dog noises although it's never been confirmed if these were done by Peter Hawkins whilst I'm very glad this didn't happen it's actually kind of a shame we never got to hear the OG recordings cuz I can only imagine what those would have been like bro the fan animations those lines surfacing would spawn would be [Music] wild Wallace drives the truck in Chicken Run in the hit film chicken run when the truck delivering the pie machine's Parts arrives for One Singular shot a driver can be seen inside the truck his appearance is barely discernible but upon closer inspection his appearance is barely discernible but others have pointed out that it kind of looks like Wallace in his Grande out appearance I mean I guess you can't really make out anything specific there but like I I mean hear me out whether this is true or not has not been confirmed nor denied but I can totally see the pie making machine being Wallace is doing who else would produce a massively over complicated pie making machine this is just one of his side jobs on good anyways Chicken Run 2 drops next month that is right Chicken Run 2 Don of the Nugget drops in exactly one goddamn month on Netflix y'all better be there the biggest names inow and Clippers and Clippers and Clippers Sunday poker Knight at the inventory hoker KN at the inventory is a game released and made by tell tail games again let's jump you probably already know about this game but how does it relate back to Wallace and grommet well by the bookshelves in the introduction to the game Monty muzzle from Wallace and grommets Grand Adventures can be seen a pretty Dopey trig oh also side note but as an avid TF2 heavy weapons Enthusiast can this game please be relisted on Steam the Iron Curtain is such a dope ass looking we Weaponry skin and it's not tradable so I'm just unable to obtain it yo if anyone knows another way I can obtain it let me know please man I will make hat feathers in reboot bro can this [ __ ] ass pinguin get off my screen reboot is an ugly as hell now but gorgeous at the time CGI TV show from 1994 2 years prior to the Donkey Kong Country TV show no anyway feathers M [ __ ] can be seen in multiple episodes of this show from time to time and he was actually used without permission from ardman he was just chucked in there as a joke amongst the creators but they were warned against it to avoid a lawsuit from armman with producers sending a strongly worded message to the visual creators stating I want the penguin deleted hey yo I [ __ ] agree as it stands this never led to any sort of lawsuit and Feathers remains chilling in all forms of reboot to this day official Star Wars crossover the prophecy for a Star Wars celebration in 2007 armman animated a very short clip of grommet using a lightsaber not much to say about it it's only a few seconds long but I mean pretty dope he's got the moves with it I'm not going to lie grommet voice in
