greetings in the matchless name of the lord jesus christ this is pastor darren farmer senior and this is my lovely wife lady michelle farmer and certainly we are so glad that you've decided to join the upper room episode cathedral on all of our social media platforms certainly it is not by coincidence that you stumbled across us this is by divine appointment we are so excited and glad that you've landed here i want you to know that there's room for you at the upper room first lady why don't you tell us what you love most about our worship experiences i absolutely love the word of god that goes forth each and every week i love the souls that are coming to receive something from god and i absolutely love the spirit of love that lives in this house i mean we've seen lives transformed virtually and in person i'm telling you we have something for everybody for the children for musicians for preachers for the pew remember we have something for you we have something for everybody i'm telling you the upper room apostolic cathedral is the place where god reveals and we receive [Music] in the name of jesus bless every usher bless every preacher oh god everyone that stands behind this desk oh god let the anointing power be proud oh god in the name of jesus oh god save somebody he'll deliver set free your god in the name of jesus we need you today like never before we need you today oh god in the name of jesus oh god casting down every imagination or god and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of god god we bring it into subjection through the power of the christ and the infilling of the holy ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the spirit of god gives the others and the lifestyle of holiness and that which is pleasing unto god first timothy 6 and 12 says fight the good fight of faith lay hold up to eternal life you got to hold on and go let go whatever the obstacle is if you got to go above it if you got to go under it if you go up gotta go around it be determined that i will press because there's a prize with my name on this there's a high calling with my name on it and i have the power given to me by the holy ghost to overcome and to make it whatever i have to do i will hold on whatever i have to do i will make it because greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world and i am determined that i will make by the name of pastor darren farmer who sings that song and uh and we're so grateful about what the lord is doing not only that today is men sunday somebody shout men sunday and every fourth sunday is men sunday and we're so grateful yesterday we had our men's locker room and that's under the leadership of elder turner can we give god praise for him who has such a dynamic vision [Music] for the men and our slogan is we're helping men become better men and we are so grateful about that and what the lord is doing through the men's department there's certainly a word from the lord today i want to go over a few quick announcements and we'll dive straight into the word i've been teaching no more grow more sessions on relationships and we are on lesson today we were in lesson four and the lord has been blessing us in that endeavor i also want to just put this out there very quickly we are almost through with our 30-day prayer vine but we have four more days left and amen and we've been here in the cathedral every day since september 1st and the lord has been kind to us in that endeavor we have seen so many miracles and we believe in god for many miracles to come during this last four day stretch and so thank you to those of you who have been giving daily um through this prayer revival we've had saints all across the world who have been sowing and mailing their offerings and giving digitally we say thank you thank you can we give them a hand please and then uh we have some commercials that are coming up but um before we do that i want to just sort of put this out there i want you all to help me make this live commercial um and i need you to tell your neighbor say you got to get hype about it you got to get hyped about if they don't get hyped then you move your seat really really quickly but tell them say you got to get hyper body got to get everybody we've got holy convocation coming up [Applause] oh that's not hype enough for me thursday and friday we are going after going to do now upper room we never have a dress code you come as you are but this is convocation so you wear your convocation garments to convocation and we're going to be expecting a move from god be going into the fall or we're preparing our minds to go into that fall space and so in between our no more and our grow more sessions we're going to be doing fellow shipping and uh we're going to have um [Music] donuts we're going to have danishes we're going to have coffee we're going to have pumpkin spice we're going to have apple cider most of all we're going to have each other so in that section between service or kneeling prayer no more grow more that's where we'll be in our fellowship hall and um not just that sister amanda quickly and this church is so uh it is built with fellowship and connections and people that can connect certain things together and since the man quickly said she said pastor what do you need and i said well the vision is and she said i didn't ask you that i said what do you need i said well i need donuts i need danishes i need anything with bread and she said count it already done and [Music] amen and so we thank the lord for that and we are grateful about that and then we have the i can now the media team is sort of helping me with this not our children but our uh food drive and so the trust uh trustee dania came up with this idea a few months ago and then a certain portion of ministry of staff sort of added to it these are just to get your attention these graphics will be put out through our social media pages as we normally do somebody shout the i can drive [Music] now what we're going to do is the question is can you come to church with me that's the question that we're posing to those that we want to invite to church but the other side to it is the can is a definition two definitions that we'll be using at the same time so we want to do is we're going to be bringing everything to the altar cans blankets water bottles um anything you can get your hands on that could be a blessing to the community we're gonna do that for the whole month of october and then at the beginning of november we'll disperse all of those things um to the community ask your neighbor say can we do it the answer is tell your neighbor the answer is yes i'm telling you it's going to be an amazing process to see all of the cans lined up to see all of the packs of water lined up and even if you want to donate money we'll a lot a space for you to do that as well but the vision is is that we see the altar empty now but at the end of october the altar will be completely flooded with goods and canned goods and can we give god praise for that endeavor and that will lead us into the 100 turkeys that we'll be giving out during the um thanksgiving season uh that's all that i have tonight i want to encourage you next month the supernatural harvest the month of supernatural harvest and we're almost at the end of the year and i'm telling you that now is the time to sow in your praise and your worship and your giving in your sanctification in your consecration so that you can reap a harvest and god will bless you tremendously and greatly i want to move uh yesterday uh we engaged in the men's locker room and i know i briefly said it but i'm telling you the men at this church we really hold this church down and amen and i'm telling you it's men we're we're prayer warriors we we are transparent we're real and we come together doing that men's locker room segment that's the saturday before uh men sunday and certainly um i put this out there because i want to just sort of just just fetch it out if you feel as though you have a call to sing join the men's choir they will work with you and uh help you to stay on note uh so that way we can continue to multiply in that endeavor last announcement that i'm going to put out there the children's choir we're going back into that uh fall winter season and so the children's choir is going to be begin singing again next month and we're grateful about what the lord is doing and through the life of our ministry let's give god praise for the spirit of the lord that's in this supernatural harvest will grow while your seed is lifted minister brian last sunday he says uh brother brian i'm sorry i just put it on you the lord is speaking boy he ran around this church last sunday i said i've never seen somebody run this fast around this church y'all and had it had his his gun was run into he was running in there [Music] but last time he said pastor the lord spoke to me said so 300 he said by the end of the week he had five thousand dollars to come to him [Music] brother cj he just got not only did he get a car he got he said pastor i got a suv [Applause] and uh i don't know if she's here but uh we did i uh first lady and i called all of the people that sold and gave uh during our 125 drive and one lady said pastor i was battling with breast cancer and i was battling with needing a new job and needing a new vehicle she said god healed my body of breast cancer and i got my new job and i got my new car and i'm telling you that the blessings of the lord is so rich in this house i'm telling you that when you sow into good ground god will do the unexpected hands up one more time say it aloud with everything in you with as much faith as you have say with the seed that i sow supernatural harvest will grow say it again say with the seed that i sow supernatural harvest will grow associate pastor doug is going to come he's going to pray over the offerings [Music] when you have it tonight i i would like for the congregation to read and um and we'll get where the lord hands for us tonight when you have a shot i got the word say a little louder i got the word luke chapter 22 verse number 31 and 32. upper room let's read it really really loud in unison what does verse number 31 say yes mm-hmm strengthen brethren i want to preach tonight from the subject of the topic and i'll just say the topic and periodically i'll say it throughout the this presentation i want to speak tonight from the subject the devil won't get the best of me this time the devil won't get the best of me this time you may be seated in the presence of the lord [Music] [Applause] devil won't get the best of me this time i want to say this um and i take this very seriously i want to say this and you don't have to stand up but i just want you to do it with a thunderous clap when i tell you that the upper room is graced with a great board of associate pastors and today is associate pastor kelly's birthday we want to say happy birthday to her happy birthday the devil won't get the best of me this time i think the story of jesus is one that has very many contradictions i think the story of jesus and i know that the story of jesus through much study and much prayer much consecration and meditation devotion on the life of christ i think the story of jesus is one that is abnormal to say the least that he was born of a virgin and we all uh know the story of christ and the story of jesus and how he came to be but i think what's most interesting is when we look at his origin beyond his humanity we're often times perhaps confounded and or confused without the direction of the spirit because the origin of christ doesn't always make sense in his divine or his divinity the origin of christ would cause us to ask questions about the beginning of time and about how the earth came into place and how the heavens came into place and how all of these things correlate and bring us into some sense of validity or the information at hand into some sense of validity 2 000 years later when most of the information that was brought about during that time in every other sect of life is looked over looked under because as time progresses is as methods progress and as time progresses as knowledge progresses and as time progresses as our ideologies and our thinking and our opinions progress but it's amazing that jesus is still the same today as he was then yet he loses no power he doesn't lose authority he doesn't lose uh he is not trendy so he's not out of style um you know jesus is just jesus if we look at jesus we look at the life of jesus what's most important to note is that while he was divine he still was human and he dealt with his humanity he dealt with what it meant to be human he dealt with the pains of humanity dealt with being weary dealt with being tired dealt with being flushed out and dealt with being misunderstood he dealt with being not enlightened he dealt with being scandalized he dealt with being crucified and ultimately he dealt with rejection to a large degree i think that jesus serves as an example and i think that the hebrews i think that the children of israel i think that the lord's people would have been so um biased in that they would have eventually said that jesus wasn't worthy to be god and or wasn't worthy to be an example to us simply because jesus was god and so god wouldn't know what it felt like to be tempted and to be talked about and to be not liked because god is a spirit and so then this spirit wraps himself in flesh so that flesh would never have the excuse that god doesn't know how we feel and so jesus knows how we feel he understands pain he understands rejection he understands not being accepted he understands life whether or not he understands life from an american culture and or life from you know an israel culture and or life from a galilean culture or a life from a bethelamites culture uh would be fooling with the nuances of theology but the reality is is that to some degree all of our lives sort of have somewhat of the same pattern and that is if it's not one thing it's another jesus has this um and he gives us the perfect example he was tempted on all sides yet he did not sin yet he didn't fall there was no gow found in him there was no fault found in him yet he was betrayed he was denied he was crucified and how does all of this apply into the day how does all this kind of tie in how does all this kind of make sense this makes sense because as we read the story of jesus it is important that we realize that while jesus was divine jesus was in his godliness jesus was god in the flesh jesus was god in the flesh jesus was god in the flesh he's got to be god in the flesh because if he is not god in the flesh then he is almost like every other god he is like buddha he is like muhammad he is like the hindu god what separates jesus from all of the other religions is that he declares to be god they asked him who do you say you are are you are you saying that you are the messiah you saying that you are god and jesus would say things like thou sayest he never would particularly say that he was god he would say things like before abraham was i am. well i have to reference your culture i have to reference age groups i have to reference generations so if before abraham was i am that means that before isaac was before jacob was before joseph was before israel became a nation when israel was a person before israel became a people i was the interesting fact is that humanity has a beginning date and has an expiration date so if i am before the forefather then what i'm saying is really i have no beginning date i was here and i was slain before the foundation of the world hear me tonight hear me tonight hear me tonight hear me tonight with with with both of your ears could i tell you tonight that jesus is so good because he's god enough to be concerned about godly things but he's human enough to be concerned with humanity he could have had a lot of things he he could have he could have used trees for companionship he could have used the the beauty of the waters flowing the sound of it for companionship but he makes man in his own likeness in his own image and what he does is he breathes into man which is the first foreshadowing of the spirit upon man because in acts chapter 2 he breathes his spirit pneuma into man so then the spirit the holy ghost causes us to be in alignment with our maker and our creator but yet we are in the flesh yet we are human yet we deal with life yet we have the perfect example not abraham not isaac not jacob not david not samson not timothy not paul not peter not barnabas not apollos but jesus being the perfect example of what it means to be successful in life his success was not in his game because birds have nests and foxes have holes but the son of man have nowhere to lay his head meaning that jesus is success was not in what he had gained through materialistic things but his success was found in his selflessness his ability to love those who don't love him we say we want to be like jesus i want to be like jesus i want to be like jesus oh how i long to be like him but what was jesus really like was jesus conformed to the legalism of church culture was jesus conformed to man's opinions what was the true test of jesus jesus said some of his greatest miracles was not when he turned water in the wine that wasn't his greatest miracle no no no no no it wasn't when he fed the 5 000. that wasn't his greatest miracle one of his greatest miracles was when the woman was caught in the midst of adultery and this was no accusation she was caught in the midst of it i don't know what she was doing i know i don't know what she had on but she was cocked they brought her to jesus the master the ruler the creator the god of the universe and god says let ye who are without sin cast the first stone the script i don't i don't think any stones would cast go sin no more go go be delivered go be separate jesus's mercy towards us is unfailing it's unparalleled it it can't be compared to anything i i just want to put this in the atmosphere for those of you that really really are are with me right now and during this season today i want to just put this out aren't you so glad god didn't throw you away [Applause] according to the mosaic law he had every right to throw you away every right to stone you every right to kick you out and castigate you but aren't you for you to just keep on striving and keep on pushing what the truth is is that uh uh he did all the striving and pushing for you he did it on the cross what you have to do is figure out how to change your mentality to be a recipient for what was already done thank you jesus so he's god enough he's he's god of the universe he's he's he's god of the world nothing can happen without his permission nothing can happen unless he allows it to happen so we we we have this gospel story of of of jesus with 12 disciples he's teaching them he's guiding them he's mentoring them he's molding them he's preparing them for the time where he will no longer be around he's got peter he's got james he's got john he's got hallelujah and he's and he's he's affecting them in a way that is causing them to know that the world can be turned upside down by the power of god but the trouble and or the conundrum is that while they are with jesus while they are around jesus jesus is not in them we can accredit that to some dispensationalism because they were in a different dispensation at a different time which did not require for christ to be in them which is why they came to jesus and asked them jesus your disciples they don't pass and they don't pray he said they don't have need to fast they don't have need to pray because i'm with them but we can't take that dispensation and bring it to now in other words saying that it's enough for me to be around a move of god and or it's enough for me to be around believers and or it's enough for me to be around a move of god and and to be in fellowship and to get teaching and to get preaching that's not enough christ must be in you and you must be in christ because any man in christ is a new creature all things are passed away behold all things become new my mind becomes new my appetite becomes new my passion becomes new my desires become new you're trying to get new by dancing but dancing doesn't do it christ has got to be in you somebody clap your hand open your mouth and shout i got him on the inside of me no you got to clap them like the devil is in between your hands and say hey neighbor i've got christ on the inside of me [Applause] no no no no no that was all right if we were in a coliseum or an auditorium for a theater play you would you would clap your hand nice and gentle but i want you to look at your neighbor like your sanctifier and say i know i got god on the inside i got him on the inside of me i can feel them down on the inside of me could i preach to somebody tonight that would talk back to me and say i know i got them down on the inside of me because the joy that i have i haven't had this joy in a long time the tears that i cried are actually not tears of grief they're tears of joy because i can't you too he thought of you just when you thought it was over he thought about you just when you thought that the time was over and and you had ran out of time tell your neighbor god thought about you god father he thought about me enough he he thought about the twelve be seated in the presence of the lord thought about the 12 the 12 apostles and the 12 disciples thought about them enough to teach them and to guide them and to tell them that me being around you is not enough you've got to have me on the inside of you peter said lord lord where where are you going don't don't depart from us don't don't leave from us and jesus says if i do not go the comforter will not come the comforter is not my involvement with your pain the comforter is my uninvolvement with your pain even if it means progress so what i'm saying is is god is not as concerned with your pain and your misery as you think that he is if the pain and the misery causes you to grow to another level he will be uninvolved and the pain will not be for your destruction it'll be for his glory i want you to tell your neighbor i'm in pain i'm in pain i'm in everything that i'm in it doesn't always feel good everything that i've gone through can i preach to somebody tonight all of the experiences and things that i've had to go through it doesn't always feel good but tell your neighbor it was for his glory and it was for my betterment had i not gone through that i would not be where i am right now have i not been let down i would not be you doubting in danger about where you are right now but if you take 10 seconds and look back over your life you can enjoy in the affliction joy and the depressing joy y'all ain't talking to me tonight tell your neighbor say i'm mature enough to admit it i didn't like it while i was going through it but now that i'm here it made me better the divorce made me better the scandal y'all want to be perfect tonight how dare you tell somebody all of it made me who i am today ah are asking of someone's permission so if he's seeking whom he may devour that means the only way he can devour you is if is if you give him permission and that's why i want you to say it with
