the ultimate jig is the only jig on the market that works with ar-15 DPM SLR 308 and nine mil Glock or colt style AR lowers using common household tools you will be able to mill out your own 80% lower receivers right at home our jig is made with a heavy duty construction with key reinforced steel aspects ensuring the completion of many lowers before needing any replacement parts along with the construction the LED light component included as part of our jig is another great feature which we'll go over in just a few minutes you can see the top three plates very easy construction to follow we'll get right into putting a lower together show you how this thing works first the two side walls are labeled on the left and right side to determine which lower you are going to be milling as you're facing the jig walls you'll see ar-15 to the left and ar-10 to the right if you're going to be setting up to do an AR nine-millimeter whether it's Glock style or cold you will use the ar-15 side of the jig the four side plate screws are included in the kit and you'll notice that the set holes are recessed allowing you to set your jig anywhere in your vise without the complications of hitting or tightening down on an exposed Pole met the top bolt pattern is a universal bolt pattern for our jig allows you to use the same three top plates on either your ar-15 your AR nine and your AR 10 plate number one and plate number two and three have a proprietary radius make sure that that radius when you set your top plate is facing your buffer tower on your lower the jig also comes with four top plate screws that you use to at first loosely install the four screws so that you have a little bit of play in plate number one as you install it again these plates are used for all three types your AR nines your AR tens and your ar-15 now that the top plate is loosely installed you then take your buffer alignment tool and thread it into the buffer tower this allows you to guarantee that your fire control system is properly aligned with your bolt and your buffer tube assembly and that's why all three plates have that radius notched into them the buffer alignment tool threads through your buffer tower and as you tighten it down it will click into the buffer radius on your top plate it will get tighter and tighter and then after it clicks into that buffer radius simply tighten down your four top screws and secure your top plate to the jig walls make sure that when you tighten all of these screws whether it's your top plate or your sidewalls that you do them one at a time evenly you can see we are using a 5/32 allen wrench for the template bolts on the top plate we also use a 3/16 allen wrench for the sidewalls the only other allen wrench that we'll be using is a 3/32 allen wrench later on for the stop collars now the top plate has a proprietary hole pattern that we'll go over in a minute but when your top plate is secured unthread your buffer tower alignment tool and simply turn on your light this helps illuminate your trigger pocket area so that you can actually see what you're doing when you're milling out your lower now we're going to go over some of the tricks of doing a 9-millimeter lower receiver a lot of the Glock style having mag release already incorporated into them we found that it's much easier to simply take the mag release out of the receiver prior to putting it into the jig if you look on the left side of the jig where the 308 lower receivers go there are two locator pins where the takedown pin holes in a 308 receiver will go when you install a receiver on the 308 side but for the ar-15 and nine mil sight the takedown holes are used for the jig bolts here's another quick tip some 80-percent ar-15 and AR nine have the rear pocket exposed so you can see your jig bolt going through it however some 80 percenters do not have the rear pocket milled out so you cannot see your jig bolt just make sure you take that jig bolt out before you start drilling to your rear pocket and remember to use the notches in the side wall plates to your advantage to fit even the most stubborn 9 mil lower the required tools for using the ultimate jig include a table vise or table clamp a drill press or a hand drill router with a 5/16 Colin a 5/32 allen wrench a 3/16 allen wrench and a 3/32 allen wrench for the stop collar on your drill bits we highly recommend that you purchase the ultimate jig to link it as it has all the drill bits and the N mill and the stop collars needed to complete your project before you start drilling using drill pocket plate number one use your depth gauge tool that's provided in your ultimate jig to set the depth of your drill bit depending on whether you're using ar-15 or AR ten drill out the main pocket first using the larger drill bit before transferring over to the smaller holes in the main pocket remember do not do the rear pocket holes until all of the main pocket holes are drilled at the proper depth to accomplish this simply install your drill bit into the appropriate depth gauge notch and lock down the stop collar at that depth remember that working with power tools and cutting metal can be extremely dangerous follow all safety instructions provided by the power tools manufacturer proper hearing and impact resistant hypertension must be worn at all times when operating any power tools required to finish the 80 percent lower using the ultimate jig now that plate number one is complete it's time to move on to router plate number two take this opportunity to clean out any extra shavings that were left in your trigger pocket by using either a vacuum or by using a paint brush do not blow the chips out that is extremely dangerous repeat step three with plate number two by loosely installing the top bolts and then tightening down on your alignment tool in the buffer tower once the buffer tool alignment is complete you can then tighten down the bolts for your top plate unthread your belt or alignment tool and turn on the light because you're ready to start routing remember if you remove the top rear jig bolt when you are drilling out pocket number one it's time to put the rear jig bolt back in and tighten down securely through your take down pin holes place the router pocket with the notched end towards the buffer tube hole now take the 5/16 end mill and install it into your router make sure the end mill is securely and very tightly secured in the collet this is crucial in preventing the hand mill from moving out while in the process of milling using the ultimate AR jig template adjust the depth of your router reinsert and tighten down the top rear jig bolt before you start router turn off the router and insert the end mill into the center of the furthest hole from you the tip of the end mill should come just below the top of the 5/16 hole maintain a solid grip on your router when turning it on only focus on removing the material between holes until all holes are connected once all the holes have been connected starting from the middle and working your way outwards in the clockwise direction mill out the rest make sure that you turn off your router each time you pull your router out and check the depth gauge going one notch at a time on the end mill depth gauge with your ultimen jig make sure to use cutting fluid with the end mill to complete this process and shop back to clear away any metal shavings if your rear shelf was not milled out on your 80 percenter make sure that you pull your rear takedown jig bolt out of the way prior to milling out the rear shelf with your router now you can replace your router pocket plate with the trigger pocket plate is the third and final plate that you install on top of your ultimate jig again repeat the steps as before on the other top plates loosely installing it and locking the buffer alignment tool into the radius notch before we start on plate number three here are some tips on the large router in process on the final two cutting passes before reaching the bottom of your trigger group the end mill will not have any pre-drilled holes to begin in to avoid the end mill from shaking or twitching when powering on the router hold the router slightly above the template and power on the router do so without the mill touching the lower and then very slowly with a solid grip on the router lower the router for the final pass the ultimate AR jig depth template is set up so the hand mill is past the last notch and is touching the top of the depth gauge once completed you should be left with the milled out main trigger pocket and drilled out rear shelf holes in the video you now see we are measuring the depth for the rear shelf to be milled out this is done on the third pocket plate the trigger pocket plate remember to pull out the top rear jig bolt so you do not mill through it removing the jig bolt completely can cause the lower to slip down if the vise is not tight enough reinsert the bolt and thread the tip of it through the top jig wall the tip will go into the edge of the lower and keep the lower from slipping without getting in the way of the end mill next the trigger slot let's simply adjust the router depth setting so the end mill is slightly inside the drilled out trigger slot with the end mill centered in the hole turn on the router while keeping a firm grip on it mil back and forth in a clockwise motion turn off the router and increase the depth by one hash mark and repeat the process continued until the trigger slot is fully milled out nu5 you're now about 95% done with your lower you'll notice the steel reinforced bushings on the ultimen jig make it very easy to drill out your final three holes for your hammer and trigger tho bushings the steel bushings make it virtually impossible to miss a line your holes for your trigger and your hammer and your safety your trigger and hammer are going to use a 5/32 drill do not drill all the way through the receiver drill one side and then go to the other side and drill through make sure that you're always pushing in and out on the hand drill when doing this just to get the extra chips cleaned off of the bit this is a continuing theme throughout the entire build process is keep your bits clean use cutting oil and clean the area as you're working this makes your job a lot easier and makes the finished product much much nicer the safety selector hole uses a 3/8 drill bit again go in from one side and then go to the other side and drill through the steel bushings and your lower receiver is done simply take it out of the ultimate jig and make sure to take the buffer alignment tool out of the buffer tower and you completed your lower receiver some of the highlighted features of the ultimate jig not just having the ability of doing all three types of lowers in one jig rather than spending you know one hundred and something dollars for an ar-15 jig only to turn around and spend another one hundred and something dollars on and 308 J and then trying to find a third jig for one hundred and seven dollars that will be either a clock or a cold style 9 mil lower but beyond that we wanted to make a jig out of heavy-duty material that wasn't a throwaway jig you could use over and over and over again that's why we have steel reinforced bushings for our side holes and really engineered our jig we taught the bottom with the at-home user in mind for heavy-duty use whether he's going to complete one or several lowers we really wanted our jig to stand up against high use and high where you can see the side walls of our jig are virtually untouched after completing the lower in the video our top plates are in very good shape don't even look like they were really scathed the workmanship on the lower itself the pocket that's milled out the side holes that are drilled again take your time use cutting oil follow the written instructions that you can download we want you to be successful so if you do have any additional questions reach out to us at sales @j tactical comm one of the most common questions we get asked is router selection we really don't have a preference it can be fixed speed or variable speed but we generally run the router between 24,000 and 30,000 rpms for more tips like that and for the complete instructions on the ultimate jig download the instructions @j tactical comm a juggernaut tactical we are committed to the success of our customers and we appreciate you purchasing our product we are very proud to offer the ultimate jig that accomplishes so many things where other jigs have failed thanks for watching
