The Ultimate HD Texture & Reflections Upgrade | Garry's Mod

are you tired of your textures looking flat lame and just downright ugly well then boy do I have a mod or mods for you guys today we're going to try to make construct look absolutely fresh AF and the first mod that we're going to take a look at to help us do this is the HD upscale textures now what this mod does is it's going to upscale the base textures and I believe this one is not just for construct I just chose construct because well the second mod kind of requires construct so I figured why not but just take a look at some of these ugly disgusting filthy textures guys we've been living with this for a long time now we deserve a lot better this is what this mod is going to do and I'm going to show a comparison of a before and after so let's get started so if you guys don't going to take a look at is the wall because well you're going to be seeing this wall a lot and I mean again just look how ugly they look not all that great but now let's take a look in HD I mean as you can see they look so much better looking if we go ahead and even zoom in you can see so much of the minute detail that is now captured thanks to the fact that we now have some higher quality textures but what about the floor because well you're going to be looking at the floor a lot if you're playing on Garry's Mod and you don't want it to look ugly and as we can see with the old textures they are well pretty ugly but taking a look at the new ones now again we can see just so much more Grand detail we can see even more the textures have never looked this good and I got to say I really am loving this texture upgrade I know it's not going to really show up all that well in video but download it for yourself and I promise you guys you'll notice the difference right away also the best news is is that the performance impact is well pretty much negligible so you don't got to worry about that next up we have the brick wall a classic texture in fact I'm really happy to see that it's back I don't know why mine turned into a really dark gray texture must have been a mod I have but we can see they don't look all that great once again going to the new textures oh especially on a high resolution display guys you are going to love the way that this mod makes your game look again zooming in even closer we can see pretty good detail now I know like from today's standards they don't look super amazing but way better than the old ones I think we can all agree and the truth is that well we could be sitting here gazing at walls all all day and like wow like this actually looks amazing in fact I can tell it looks even better without having to look at the original textures but yeah we're not going to do that because well that'd be a lame video so let's go on to the next one and this is going to be Reflections so in modern video games you typically have four different types of Reflections you have screen space Cube map planar and of course Ray traced now of course R tracing isn't possible in Gary's Mod unfortunately or is it video coming very soon but typically Gary's Mod uses Cube map because well it's the least expensive and it kind of gets the point across without having to use any crazy stuff unless you go into the mirror room where things start to get a little interesting but I think we can all agree that Gary's Mod's Q map Reflections are a little bit dated in fact here we can see on this car yep the reflections don't look all that great and it doesn't really matter which angle you look at uh they're kind of Blocky low resolution obviously we can do a lot better now I did go ahead and download this really cool CU map reflection tester tool it lets you kind of see Cube maps in any area and it also shows it upon different textures we can see how things are looking a little dicey but don't worry cuz we have a mod to fix all of that now this one's a little complicated you do have to download it but then you also have to extract something and well that just gets complicated quick now if you know how to unpack GMA files then you're good to go just go into where the mod is installed unpack it put it in the materials folder or in your G's mod G's mod forward and you're good to go now that's obviously a lot to go over so we're going to do this instead simply right click on your Garry's Mod go into properties and then find where you have it installed on your hard drive once you got that going on you're pretty much already halfway there open up the Garry's Mod folder and then keep that where it is next up go ahead and open up the zip file or the raw file make sure you do have some kind of extracting software like winar or seven zip or anything like that and go ahead and extract the materials within the G mod G's mod folder and there you go that's all you got to do pretty simple if you do want to remove it though by the way simply delete the materials folder and then right click on your Garry's Mod go into properties and then verify the Integrity once you do this it'll redownload all the files you might be missing and then you can start Gary's Mod up and I promise you it'll all be as good as new so let's go ahead and see what these look like and well they look absolutely amazing I mean just look at the det detail the reflections are so sharp now I really can't even believe that it was this big of an upgrade and that I've been missing out on it but I really do love this and the best thing is is that well it doesn't just work on the tool and the car that we have but it works on well pretty much any item that has some kind of reflective properties like this metal Kettle for instance as you can see it's pretty reflective although I got to admit it looks a little too reflective for this one particular item but that even goes for these buildings and like again just look at get it look at how Crystal Clear they look now okay they kind of look a little rough still but way better than the old ones they're way more clear and again some might even argue a little too clear but I dig it and I think it's pretty cool that we can just modify Garry's Mod in this way to make it look so much better but this is just the tip of the iceberg there are a ton of mods that make Gary's mod look better than it does but I figured that that's enough for today's video I don't want to make it too long as always guys if
