The Tickle Monster Is Real & You DON'T Want To Meet Him

[Music] hey guys it's jessie v and i feel like today's topic is a very strange one because i'm going to be talking about the very dark and creepy origins of the tickle monster the tickle monster actually stemmed from very creepy creatures from folklore and i know everyone knows what the tickle monster is when you were a kid and your parents were about to tickle you they would say like the tickle monster is coming and would chase you around tickling you it used to scare me a lot i know some people found it funny and hilarious i was scared comment down below if you were scared too am i just one of those people who do not like being tickled like i'll laugh because it's my reaction but i hate it anybody else anyways i'm gonna be getting into the video very very soon but first i wanted to announce our top three schools with yana groups now over the year we've had so many schools around the world signed up and i'm so grateful and so proud of you guys but there have been three schools who have just gone above and beyond and those schools are mount ararat high school college of adaptive arts and bets elementary now i'm actually going to be announcing the final winner next week and i will be meeting virtually with the winning school so they can ask me any questions we can talk i could tell stories the school that comes in second place will be getting some really cool yeah merch so with that being said let's jump right into today's video alright so let's start off with the history and folklore of the tickle monster now one of the first ever mentions of a tickle monster like creature was from a poem that was written in 1907 about a tatar forest spirit called sharali according to legends shirali lives in forests he has long fingers a horn on its forehead and a woolly body he lures his victims to a thicket and can tickle them to death and apparently he can shapeshift into many different forms as a human he apparently looks like a peasant with glowing eyes and you'll know it's him for sure because his shoes are always on backwards now apparently if a person tries to befriend this monster you can learn the secrets of magic farmers and shepherds would often make packs with this creature to protect their crops and sheep now the charale have many tricks including leading peasants astray making them sick or like i said tickling them to death and a person always gets lost in the woods when a cherralli crosses their path so to find a way out you apparently have to turn your clothes inside out and you have to wear your shoes on opposite feet now in this poem a young woodcutter leaves his home village in the evening to gather some wood so he chops down a tree and starts cutting it into pieces and suddenly he sees this horrible furry creature looking at him now the creature invites him to have a tickling game and obviously he refuses when sharali becomes insistent the woodcutter accepts but only on the condition that it helps him split the log in half he told the cherali to put his fingers in the crack and pull it apart when he drives the wedge in so the chirali agrees and inserts his finger into the log and the woodcutter instead traps his fingers so the monster starts screaming at the man telling him to free it but the woodcutter refuses and that's how he was able to escape this monster and this is like a classic story from folklore then there's a creature called the mahaha and this is a creature with origins and inuit mythology their skin appears mildly blue which is putrid and badly frostbitten and his hair is often long and brittle and frozen stiff his eyes are often pale blue or gray and he also has this long sharp set of fingernails he is said to roam across the arctic by himself in minimal clothing and he giggles and smiles at people and he constantly tickles people he encounters to death so if someone was found dead with a bizarre smile on their face the tribe just assumed that it was the work of the mahaha even though the little creature is vicious he can be fooled very easily in fact there are many tales told by elders about how the mahaha was fooled into his demise for instance many say that the mahaha was tricked to bend over to drink water from a stream and was pushed by the tribe into the currents then there is a more modern legend called the tickler there's a legend about a monster people call the tickler that will tickle your feet if you're ever dangling them off the bed or if you leave them out of the covers exposed to the darkness of the night it is said that if you ever feel something strange on your feet while you're trying to sleep you need to either turn on the light as fast as you can or pull your feet under the covers before anything else happens apparently the tickler will always start by lightly tickling your toes then he'll slowly move down your foot and then to your heel and then he'll grab your entire leg and will just pull you right under the bed now what's weird is that the tickler is only interested in devouring your feet not the rest of your body so people will know that the tickler has invaded their house when they find one of their family members or friends up in their bedroom halfway under the bed with only their feet missing which is super disturbing i feel like everyone can relate to when you feel freaked out dangling your feet over the bed or having like one leg out of the covers or your feet slightly sticking out or is that just me when i was a kid i wanted to be fully under the covers because i just felt safer it's like i felt the monsters would leave me alone if my blanket was in the way of them it was my blanket shield comment down below if you were like me or am i just crazy and then we have a legend called the rib poker this is another creepy version of the tickle monster and it describes him as having five fingers but the pointer finger is extremely long almost double the size of the other ones he is said to lurk in your house and when you're not looking he will come up behind you and start to tickle you and he uses that super long finger to get in between your ribs and at first apparently it makes you laugh but then it starts to really really hurt apparently the only way he stops is if you hold in your laughter because if you don't laugh he gets bored and he moves on to his next victim but if you laugh he will eventually reach all the way into your chest with that long pointer finger and we'll snatch your heart out and we'll eat it so yeah those are all of the old legends or even modern legends of the tickle monster
