okay this one we're going to call up and down this is a cool blues turnaround in the key of E and take a listen to it maybe you can figure out why we're calling it up and down alright this is really exciting to me and it was one of those turnarounds that I learned I stayed up all night just to try and get this thing down so if it doesn't come easy at first you know have no fear I mean I literally worked on this for a couple of weeks straight just to get it down and the cool sound that you're hearing is the fact that the baseline and the melody are going in opposite directions the melody is o descending while the bass is a sending so we've got some contrary emotion there and it really adds a cool touch to the piece so let's take a look at the actual notes and see if we can't get this down I'm starting off by hitting my my two E's one right after another I've gone low to high and then I'm getting in this position which is putting my third finger on the fourth fret of the e-string low E string and my middle finger on the third fret of the B string okay so and then here's what we're going to do I'm pinching these two so I'm playing these two notes together the ones that I've fretted B and the B string and then going back to this opening okay and then I'm going to move my second finger back my middle finger back to the second fret on the B string and I'm going to leave the a open the a string and do that same pattern while pinching these two and then hitting the B then I'm going to move back one more fret with my second finger to the first fret on the B string I'm going to put my first finger I'm going to kind of reach over here and put it on the first fret of the a string and do the same little picking pattern and then I'm simply going to come to the to the B note here so so far we've got this and I'm going to pick the the b-string open by the way when I do that okay so practice that let's look at that part real slow and we'll figure out how to in this thing one more time it's super cool to get that down and bring that up to tempo pretty cool and then I'm ending this just by going I'm hitting the open a string with my thumb and then I'm getting in this c9 position which I'm not playing the sixth string and then I've got the third fret 1st fret I'm sorry 3rd fret second fret third fret 3rd fret and then I'm meeting out this e string so no he's just the middle four strings and it's kind of a somewhat familiar shape and you can play this differently but I like to fret it out just like this so I've got three two three three and then I'm picking that and then bringing it back so all right and that's up and down let's hear it one more time pretty slow and then we're going to play it one more time up to speed and let you have that so here we go here here we go slow you you
