okay I want everybody to do something for me this morning I want you to take your feet and tuck them under your chair I don't want to step on any toes [Music] you got still toes okay that's good cuz you in the front row [Laughter] all right so today I might say some things that might be a little hard to hear who said that and there you are and I want to start off by saying what I'm going to get into is I'm not saying that some of these things are in themselves sinful but they can be and they can be very dangerous for your soul okay and what I'm talking about today is the strategy of Satan and how he wants to steal your way right we know in in the New Testament Yeshua said he made a comment is really interesting he said that all those you've given me I've not I've kept them and they won't fall out of my hand or something like that I don't never exactly how its praise but something along those lines and there's another you know several scriptures that talk about how we are basically in God's protection his guarding us he's keeping us but there's an interesting story that I want to get to in a minute but first I want to start with in Genesis I want to start with what happened with Adam and Eve and so we look in Genesis and you know we all know the story the serpent came attempted Eve and said you know you're not going to die eat this fruit and but it says when the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was pleasing to the eye and desirable to make one wise she took of its fruit and she ate so it was good for food pleasing pleasing to the eye and desirable to make one wise are any of those things in themself bad food is good right it's you know if you're eating clean and healthy foods it's good for you right if something's pleasant to the eyes that mean is bad no and there's God made all kinds of beautiful things in the earth for us to look at to behold and to recognize his glory his majesty by looking at this beautiful stuff right I mean there's gorgeous mountains and seas and sunsets and trees and all kinds of amazing beautiful things we can see and touch and smell and taste and it glorifies him so that's not in itself a bad thing right and that it is desirable for wisdom wisdom is a good thing right we wanted we wouldn't have wisdom I mean we're told throughout the scriptures to be wise we want to have knowledge and so these aren't bad things the segmented Eve with right so it's really interesting that that is what caused her to disobey God how many of you guys are familiar with the story of Balaam and Balak raise your hands alright so if you're not familiar with the story I will just give you a brief history so you know I'm going to read the whole thing to you but Balak hired Balaam Balaam was a prophet like our Balaam to come and curse Israel this was after they left Egypt after they were saved we're saved by grace through faith in the blood of the Lamb they left their bondage they were given instructions on how to live as a redeemed people at Mount Sinai they were keeping the feast they were keeping the Sabbath they were walking and holding store following God daily journey through the wilderness a pillar of cloud by day a pillar of fire by night they were his people his set apart holy people who he had redeemed rescued saved bought right and Balak says I want you to curse these people and so Balaam goes to try to curse them and he's unable to God prevents him from cursing Israel and he tried three times right and every time instead of cursing him he blessed them and at the end of that that interesting scenario the Bible tells us that he did something really worse than cursing them he basically he told Balak I can't curse them but what you can do since when we were women down there and your women will cause them to follow after your idols and the bit clip will be cursing themself is basically what happens right so the women come they start leading them astray they start following after the idols the incident of alt or people are killed God is angry right yes if you're familiar the story and I'm talking about so I'm going to read something from revelation in Chapter two this is a way talking to the letters to the seven churches and he wrote a letter to the Angel of the Church of Pergamos these things I say are these things says he who has a sharp two-edged sword I know your works where you dwell where Satan's throne is and you hold fast you will hello you hold fast to my name and did not deny my faith even in the days which Antipas was my faithful martyr who was killed among you where Satan dwells but I have a few things against you do you because you have those there who hold to the doctrine of Balaam who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel do you think sacrificed idols and to commit sexual immorality thus you have those who hold to the doctrine of the Nicolaitans which thing I hate repent or else I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth he who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches to him overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat and I will give him a white stone and on that stone a new name is written which no one knows except him who receives it if we are in his hand Satan can't curse us no matter how hard he tries he cannot curse us so that's not his agenda that's not his plan what he's trying to do is get us to step out of his hand it is to step out of his bless and get us to step out of his will and so he is going to lure us and just like Eve he may use things that in themselves may not necessarily be evil but they're going to lure us away from God's will from his plan and so I want to talk about some of those things today and and the dangers of some of these things and why I feel this is a very significant message especially for those who want to live holy set apart lives the Bible talks a lot about having the mind of Messiah and that of Christ right and it talks about how we already love God with our whole heart a heart soul mind and strength and your mind really is very important to who you are and then there's there's a lot of different things to go into your mind and there's some really interesting Studies on neuroscience and things like that what happens in your mind when you do certain things and they've done all kinds of different studies and your mind is the control center for everything pretty good at all and I'm not going to get into all the aspects of your mind but I want to touch on a few things and so there's you you have a prefrontal cortex and the prefrontal cortex is the part of your brain that's responsible for logic reason your will decision-making things like that and it is like the it's your self control and then you have another part of the brain that called the limbic system the limbic system is more of your it's what I think the Bible is calling your carnal mind the limbic system is the part of your brain that is very impulsive the limbic system is the part of your brain that hungers that lusts that does those kind of AIT's the secular scientists will say it's your lizard brain or it's your criminal brain it's the part of your mind that it doesn't really reason it just bless it desires it hungers for what it wants it's very primitive and base and so it's more of your animalistic brain as the way some people describe it so you think about animals you know they don't read and write and do math they don't reason they just what they want they go get it and they do it and that's that's kind of what the limbic system is in your brain II when you are there's different phases of your brain to like different modes your brains and there's alpha mode beta mode Delta you know so there's there's a different modes that your brain is in the two I want to focus on is alpha and beta though alpha is the is when your brain is basically in a relaxed almost hypnotic state basically when when you're extremely relaxed and not really thinking about anything you know it's the state of you bring that people go into when they do hypnosis you know think if they try to hypnotize somebody they want to put you in the alpha mode it's the part of you it's the state brings in you know when you're dreaming when you're sleeping because you're not engaging your rational mind beta mode is the mode mode the Train when you're studying or when you are in deep conversation with somebody when you're thinking you're rationalizing and you're you have active thought so beta mode is is when your prefrontal cortex is basically engaged and really processing stuff and so these are this is really interesting because when you are in alpha mode basically your peripheral cortex is down it's not really doing much and anything that goes into your mind at that point just goes straight into your mind without the filter without your prefrontal cortex is not being filtered it's just being downloaded into your brain and that's that's why the hypnotist tries to put you into alpha mode because when you're in alpha mode he can just suggest whatever he wants to you and it goes into your brain and it sticks there and through repetition they can actually change your thoughts on things and there's a lot of scientific studies about how this can be very effective well what's interesting though is that marketing companies understand this as well and so when a marketing company puts out a commercial for example they they have done the research they know the science they know the neurology many marketing companies have psychiatrists psychologists sociologists people on staff who are trained experts in the human brain who are giving them advice on how they can best suggest to your brain that you need to buy the product and it's it's kind of scary when you think about it and so why do you think they spend millions of dollars on a 30-second ad at the Superbowl because it works they know it works because they have like millions of people watching the Superbowl and when the commercials come on people love the Super Bowl commercials and I don't I don't know why because I mean it's like they make them creative they're funny they're entertaining and people are like wow this is did you see that commercial that's great you know it's like people talk about the commercials almost as much as they did the game and why why why did they spend so much money on that marketing and that advertising because it works because when you see the Budweiser frogs you go you say hey I think it beer sounds good right when you see the the Geico gecko you want to go by Geico insurance you know you see a polar bears is a hey I really want a coke right and they do these things and it's not just with food but it's with everything and it's not just with commercials though it's not just with commercials so as we are watching movies and TV shows things like that they are also suggesting things to your brain and what's interesting about television the the way hidden weight hypnosis works is there's a couple different that they can get you into this alpha mode in your brain one way is through repetition and so repeating something numerous times that repetition kind of embeds it into your brain another way though is to have a blinking light in a dark room right and the blinking light that flicker rate is what kind of makes your brain it kind of dismantles your brain power it's like your brain kind of overloads and it can't process everything movies and TV video games all those kind of things they are flickering at your brain at 32 frames per second or higher if you have blu-ray and high-definition you may be 66 60 frames per second and so there's a really intense flicker rate this is going at your eyes and at your brain and it's it's putting your brain to sleep basically have you ever seen somebody who is you know the Wesson teeth and you're talking to them and they're just like and you're talking to them they don't even know you're in the room they are hitting a sighs they're in a trance at that unit they don't even hear you they're oblivious to what you're saying and doing they've been put into a trance they're hypnotized that is also what a lot of witchcraft talks about the occult in witchcraft is they talk about getting people into that alpha state so that they can suggest things to mind perhaps like cursing you getting you to do something you wouldn't warmly otherwise do right and so I think that there is this war is going on to try to control our mind and the Bible says we're to have the mind of Christ buying the Messiah that's not what the enemy wants right another thing that's interesting about your your brain is there's these things that they called mirror neurons and so basically what it is is when you see something happen your brain has our time telling if it's real or not and a lot of times your brain thinks you know you see something else happening and your brain reacts like it's happening to you and so like when you're playing a video game and you're shooting a gun and all this kind of stuff you're watching a movie and there's a inappropriate scene your brain acts like those things aren't being done to you it kind of do in the scene and it you become that main character in that scene and your brain thinks that you're doing these things it's mirror neurons working in your brain and they've done some real interesting experiments with it and there's one experiment they did with with some monkeys and they this is kind of like that Pavlov's dog thing to some extent that they hooked up the brain of the monkey system some sensors and receptors to see what's going on in the brain and they would give the brain they've give the monkey something to eat I give the monkey peanut or banana or something and the monkey would eat it and they see these things start going off in the brain and and they're like wow this is really cool and then after doing that for a while they said I wonder what would happen if we eat something in front of the banana I mean a friend the monkey and so they would go and get the thing that they were giving to the banana to the monkey you know the peanut of the banana or whatever and then they would eat it right in front of monkey and as they were eating it the monkey's brain started singing off the same signals as if the monkey was eating it wow this is interesting it's like the monkey thinks he's eating banana but he's not well then they decided to do some experiments with humans and you know they hooks hook some people up to brain scans we did similar things there too and they had the same results and so it's really interesting that you should have said if you look at it over with lust you've already committed adultery with their heart could it be referring to this mirror neurons in our brain basically when you are looking at a lustful image unless flexion you're having a lustful thought you're it's like you're really doing it because your mind doesn't know the difference it's really interesting I haven't really gotten into the content of this news media's I'm just talking about just how they affect your brain just in general you know whether it be good or bad it's just this is stuff that's how affect your brain but when we start thinking about the actual content that they're putting in your brain that's when it gets really scary right so you think about what we watch on a regular basis I mean whether it be TV or movies video games any you know you pick it any kind of media you have you have violence you have crying you have disobedience to Authority disobedience parents obviously sex is everywhere you know all these you know everything it seems that everything that God says don't do it's being just pushed right in front of us and you know so we think well we're not doing it right I'm just watching it I mean I don't do those things but we're taking pleasure in someone else's sin and Romans chapter one has some interesting things to say about that Romans chapter one although they knew God they did not glorify Him as God nor were they thankful but they became futile and their thoughts and their foolish hearts were darkened they knew God but their thoughts and their hearts were futile or darkened therefore God also gave them over to uncleanness in the lust of their hearts to dishonor their bodies among themselves who exchanged the truth of God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator who is forever blessed amen this entire passage I want to just read a couple of highlights from it though and even as they did not retain did not like to retain God in their knowledge God gave them over to a debased mind we're talking about the mind right being filled with all unrighteousness the mind being filled with all unrighteousness sexual immorality wickedness covetousness maliciousness full of envy murder strife deceit evil mindedness he's talking about your mind he's not talking about what you're doing he's not saying they're going out and committing all these horrible things he's saying the remind has become corrupted now let's get down to to verse 32 who knowing the righteous judgment of God that those who practice such things are deserving of death not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them take pleasure in those who practice them enjoy watching those who practice them it's we take so much effort to try to be clean what we eat right you know we'll go to restaurant we like hey wait a minute is that have pork in it there's not any shellfish in there is there I don't come here if it if it even looked at a pig I don't want to touch it you know don't cook it on the same plate don't serve it on the same plate don't touch it with the same fork I don't want to have anything to do that unclean stuff we're so discriminating and picky with our food make sure we don't put anything unclean into our stomach but are we that discerning with what we're putting into our mind what are we feasting on in our mind are we discerning between the clean and unclean to our wheel allowing the filth to come into our brain what did you feel say about food he said it so it goes in your mouth that defiles you so it's in your heart that defiles you right which is more important that you don't eat something unclean or that you don't defile your soul to file your mind they're both important on that so I'm not discounting eating clean I think it's extremely important that we clean and we avoid unclean foods and clean animals I think that's very important but which is the way to your matter which is the more important of the two don't give up you know don't stop doing the cleaning eating you know clean food don't stop that but which is more important it's more important that you keep your mind holy to fill your mind with the things of God not the things of the world I think about one thing is really been on my mind lately is why is there such a push and so many movies video games books magazines comics about these superheroes you still got your feet tucked on the right I don't want to step on them I know I know the draw to it you know I they're they're really enjoyable stories right you have this hero who is conquering the enemy they're they're strong they're heroic the courageous they're demigods it's the same thing as Hercules Poseidon the gods of the Greeks the gods of the Egyptians some of them are even literally named after those guys Thor is a Norse God a thunder he is literally a God of the pagans and they put him in a comic book and we said oh it's okay really why is that okay to us now we said we're not worshipping Him are you taking pleasure in him are you taking pleasure in watching about him you see Superman Superman the writers the movie writers and comic book writers they say that they based him on for Jesus Christ oh whoa hey I guess that makes it okay right no he's a false Christ he's not the true crime he's a false messiah and the story is very compelling you know it's like he comes from out of this world he's his father sins in the earth to save the people he has these amazing powers he's a false messiah false Christ and you know I've watched the movies and you know it's what's interesting is you know some of the things they put in the movies you don't even realize what they're saying but you know you have in Superman Returns lex luthor says you know gods are selfish beings who fly around in red capes what they're saying is if Jesus is supposed to be a representation of a if Superman's supposed to be representation of Jesus to be sure they're saying he's a selfish being flying around in a red cape right they're speaking badly about our Messiah you know he's the one who's supposed to be representing our Messiah interesting thing is Lex my name is Lex Lex Luthor Lex means law in Latin so ginseng is Lex's the law and he's the bad guy in the Superman movie I think that's really interesting well you know you look at the one of the newest ones they came up with recently the Wonder Woman right Wonder Woman is Diana queen of the Amazons we read about her in the book of Acts you guys know that she is a pagan give me God and even in the movie if you guys saw I saw the movie it was is it very entertaining movie but when I left I felt so convicted that I was watching a demigod and taking pleasure in watching this movie right and in the movie they tell you as she's the daughter of Zeus she's half God half human we read about them in Genesis right the Nephilim the the fallen angels came down and the sons of God made it with the daughters of man and they had these half-human offspring or the great men of renown the heroes of old these powerful beings who had more than human and they were worshipped and followed by the pagans exalted as gods worshiping the Creator by worshiping the created rather than the Creator right so what is worship what is worship we kind of touched on this a little bit the other day is worship just singing songs no it's not there's obedience and service what about where you money is where your heart is we're spending your money on that's an active isn't it retired investing your time here what about what do you meditate on what are you doing on in your mind Moses we're to meditate on the Word of God and think about the things that glorify Him your setting through through our movie what are you meditating on your dwelling on these things these images that they're putting into your mind right and what's interesting is in in the Wonder Woman movie you know they talk about this weapon is the god killer and the next is Wonder Woman is the god killer if you watch the movie they're wanting to kill God right it's right there they put it right in front of you and then we just so often we can miss it you got it you guys hear what I'm saying my step on the toes I'm not saying that all TV is bad all movies are bad all musics bad all video games are bad I'm not saying that in and of themselves they're they're not good or bad all it is is pixels on the screen in and of itself there's nothing good or bad about it if you you know all of us make videos you guys probably watch us on YouTube we're making videos that's media I'm not saying media is bad but we have to have discernment of it what is good bad we have to see what's clean and unclean right and so many times it's kind of hard to tell you know you think well this isn't too bad it's at the park doing kids bad magic of Disney the magic of Disney right you how much occult themes are any these children's shows it's all over the place almost all of them have some kind of magic spell a cult ritual some kind of witch or a sorcerer or something fairies it's all over the place and where our kids are just downloading this stuff into their brain or like that's okay it's a kids show it's rated G there's no cussing in it they're putting witchcraft into our children's brain and we're okay with it what happened why is this okay well you think about okay when you turn on the radio you listens you're a decision another way to put you into obnoticus to repetition right what do songs do get these repeated phrases over and over again right this law is repetition and there's these really these beats they're real rhythmic they kind of love you into a trance right and you'll be you'll be listening to music and you'll just start kind of bobbing your head or tapping your foot and just like uncontrollable you don't even realize it and then like maybe my catchers a little bit I was a bobbin my foot to that I didn't like that song but I'm kind of feeling the rhythm of it it's affecting you whether you know it or not and what do they have in those songs you turn on the radio it's not holy it doesn't glorify God we did talk to you and we talked about how worship is not just music but worship is music it's not just music the music is worship what are you worshiping are you glorifying self Satan doesn't care worship Him he just doesn't want you to worship God right if you want anything else dan amis cool with that worship yourself if you want bow down to the God of self what do I want what I like what do I need think with your lizard brain think with the carnal mind all right that'll says let the wicked will not inherit the earth right the wicked will not enter the kingdom of God those who do these things those who practice these things not be into the kingdom those things that we're not supposed to be doing are we allowing it into our eyes into our ears into our mind the things we read the things we watch the things we listen to the games in play the conversations we have with people are we letting those things into our mind that shouldn't be there there's a children's song I want to remind you of if you know it I want you toes are still okay right I heard in Tibet all right for you were once in darkness but now you are light in the Lord walk as children of light for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness righteousness and truth finding out what is acceptable to the Lord finding out what is acceptable to the Lord as visions 5 verses 8 through 12 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord you ever even asked that question you're listening to music or watching movies or TV God is this acceptable to you do you approve of this have you ever thought about that when I first started eating kosher when I first you know first to realize hey I shouldn't be eating pork anymore oh it went to the beats place and I started looking at the menu man everything on the menu has pork in it the only thing I need the veggie pizza but my favorite pizza is the meat lovers right I mean that's what I've always eaten so I go order go to the pizza place I'm like wait a minute sausages pour pepperonis pour hamburgers the only thing is not work and it looks so much like pork I'm not even sure about it you know I would have to accidentally like drop some of the sausage in the hamburger that was makes me nervous you know so but I'm looking at this video I'm thinking god I want to honor you with what I eat and I was literal is what I was thinking I want to please you with what eight and so when I order this pizza I want to order a pizza that will make you happy that will please you because that's my desire I know that you don't mean unclean things so I'm going to pick a pizza that God wants me to eat anything last le with God doesn't care what you eat doesn't yeah he does he loves you I care what my kids eat I love them I don't want them putting junk into the life that's going to hurt him I love them so I give them instructions on what to avoid don't eat that that's not food that's dog poop don't put that in your mouth right that's what our Father is doing to us he say that's not food don't put that in your mouth what same way with this other stuff right he says that uh sure mine's in the water of his word right to meditate on his scriptures day and night right which is the food that we're supposed to be consuming for our soul you're going to go see spider-man no that's not food that's dog poop right run away I'm gonna go see some some movie where there's a girl running around with nothing on or very little on no that's not food don't eat it don't put that into your spoke into your soul it corrupts you don't do it have discernment learn to distinguish between the clean and the unclean not just with food with everything everything you consume in your life was the enemy trying to do a limb said send your women over and as they started following your women let's start following your idols sex sells right that's why the Eminem's commercial is all about sex rear West's omitting square shells is there all right does that mean my time is up let me my time is up they turned off my microphone I get out of here all right Eminem's so that's what they do right they don't say hey coming in our candy because it tastes good it's good for you is healthy they don't say that M&Ms are sexy you want to em right that's that's what they're doing Balaam said send you women over to seduce them cause them to follow after your gods and then you can curse them they curse themselves they're no longer safe in the palm of his hand they're not under his protection what does the Bible say it says that there's a blessing if you obey a curse if you disobey then we doesn't have to curse you if he can just get you to disobey you're cursed yourself right and you did it to yourself you did it to yourself we're a couple more verses and we'll get out of here or we're getting out of here but oh wait I didn't finish the Ephesian for some unfinished fusions first so finding out what is acceptable to the Lord and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness but rather expose them for too shameful to even speak about the things which are done by them and secret what am I supposed to talk about it have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness in another place that love the world is enemy is enmity against God right romans romans 8:7 he says the carnal mind is an enemy of God that that part of your brain we talked about earlier whenever your your willpower shut down your lizard brain your carnal mind olymic system the carnal mind is an enemy of God because what it seeks to do its own will it doesn't seek to do God's will it seeks to do its own will this is what I want I'm hungry I'm going to eat that's a base desire so what it was fast right control our mind not just fast for food but fast for other stuff too right so many times weird you know which we should we should be starving our flesh and being here in spirit what are we doing instead we're starving our spirit feeding our flesh if you spend the same amount of time studying the Scriptures as most people spend playing video games and watching movies and we have the Bible memorized by now right I mean itit istic SAR like the average video gamer spins like 40 hours a week playing video games they say that TV watching that the average toddler spends like five hours a day watching TV before year-old spending five hours on the TV that's a problem what are they putting into your kid's brain Ephesians 4:8 finally brethren whatever things are true whatever things are noble whatever things are just whatever things are pure whatever things are lovely whatever things are a good report if there's any virtue and if there's anything praise where they meditate on these things meditate on these things don't meditate on the things of the world that's what you're doing you're watching these things when you listen to this music when you're watching these movies and TV shows things video games you're meditating on it you're dwelling on it is going through your brain over and over embedding itself creeping into little places and looks and crannies and hiding there it's going to come out eventually you're going to act on it at some point it may take a while but eventually it's going to build up in there and you're going to start doing some of those things because that's what you've been putting in what you're putting is what's going to come out eventually right and you fill your brain with some of that stuff and eventually your brain is corrupt and you start acting corrupt doing corrupt things why do you think why do you think Christians have affairs they weren't just holy holy holy they're my not only hell anymore little by little right little by little stuff creeps in a little here a little there builds up and eventually it's beyond your control why do you think people get go crazy and start murdering people little by little stuff builds up in their rots away the brain corrupts their thinking actually they act on it why do people have outbursts of rage and profanity little by little it builds up in there eventually they act on it what you're putting into your brain is corrupting your soul like I said it's not the the media itself that's evil back to the gardening she saw that it was good for food pleasing to the eye good for obtaining knowledge wisdom right desirable for wisdom he doesn't have to to say hey go over here and spend the night with that prostitute you didn't say hey go bow down to this Idol what's he say you just you're not doing it you're just watching it you're not you know worshiping other gods you're just you're just watching them right you're not actually committing an affair you're not doing anything wrong everybody looks it's okay does anything look just in touch those are lies from the enemy and they have been preached from the pulpit at times you have those among you who hold to the doctrine of Balaam who taught Balak to put a stumbling block in front of the children of Israel you know how many how many preachers got up when the Superman came out man of steel and preached sermons about Superman they actually used it as a marketing strategy they told the producers of Superman hey we're going to market your movie to churches and we're going to tell them it's about Jesus and we're going to get preachers pre screenings of this movie and we're going to give them sermon notes and then go back to the church and preach about Superman and how he's like Jesus that was one of the marketing strategies for Superman did you know that scary using the pulpit to lead the people Australia to follow after a false god like I said it's not just Superman so Super Bowl 2 look at the Grammys the Emmys are they doing this giant golden idol right watch TV American Idol another all with that right who's going to be the next American Idol they know what they're doing they call it like it is or just like that and it's a cute name they're telling us it's an idol but I will say that the stars fell from heaven that we're not to worship the stars so what did they call it the movie stars football stars rock stars are we worshiping the creator or the created toes okay thank you
