The Square body is done!

well guys the square body is looking super fresh back there so i think it's time to finally get it out of the little cramp shop here run this thing down the road a little bit and go find a place to park this thing and give you guys a walk around of it so you guys can see how it turned out [Music] all right so before we go let's go ahead and do a cold start here real quick everybody's all into those nowadays i guess i don't know why this truck's fuel injected so not an issue of course we've got good voltage good oil pressure no temperature in there yet of course so let's go take this thing for a spin see what you guys think all right so i started filming and my phone fall off the windshield so that kind of sucks so i'm not to hold this thing it's probably gonna be a little shaky i apologize for that in advance but for you guys that are new to the channel now this is our 1989 chevy square body one ton four wheel drive pickup that only has 18 000 original miles on it and i referenced whistle and diesel and the title of this thing for a couple reasons because the first one being that his truck started out life as a fire truck and so did this one this one was a fire truck up until just recently and then it became open to the public and i ended up with it also referenced the whistling diesel in that title because you know he did something that a lot of people have not really done before and that is proven exactly how strong these trucks are and if you watch the videos of when he was thrashing on that thing it's pretty impressive of what that truck took before it actually broke so i've got to give him props for that because it really shows how badass these things are having that said these trucks have been worked to death i mean most of these trucks were turned into dump trucks or fire trucks that maybe had caught on fire or record trucks or any number of things that you could haul with trucks these trucks have all been doing it for many many years and there's not a lot of examples left out there that are in such good shape like this one and definitely not as many out there that have anywhere close to those kind of miles on them for a lot of years even the low mile ones ended up getting salvaged out by myself and a lot of my other friends and things like that and a lot of other people that i know because these things have the perfect drive train to be able to go into an off-road vehicle especially these later model ones that actually have a fuel injected engine with the fuel injection with the big transfer case with the big transmissions and the big axles that are underneath these things it makes a lot of stuff like a jeep or a toyota or something like that dang near bulletproof so a lot of these trucks even the low mile ones haven't survived this truck has got to be one of the nicest driving square bodies that i've ever drove and for obvious reasons i mean the fact that it has hardly any miles on it but even with the miles sometimes you have things that you know get dried out as far as bushings and things like that so you still get a lot of road noise or you get a lot of clanging and banging and stuff like that this truck has none of that i believe since it's been a fire truck it says probably been inside it's most of its life so hasn't had a lot of weather probably hitting it and attacking it for many many years so it's really preserved this thing quite well and you know i drove a ton of these trucks i mean i think i started driving first truck with this that i one of these square bodies that i drove let's see it was probably 92 so man that's almost 30 years wow i didn't even think i was that old anyways yeah i guess i've been driving these things for almost 30 years and yeah i haven't had anything come close to driving as nice as this truck does as far as a square body truck style so this truck's pretty awesome i'm pretty excited to have it so let's go ahead and find a place to park and i'll give you guys a walk around to this thing all right so there she is all cleaned up and looking pretty i'm really loving the way she's looking everything turned out really great on this truck of course we had a really good truck to start with so that obviously helps a bunch and for those of you that maybe have not watched the first video this truck does have a 350 that's fuel injected as a 400 turbo has a 205 transfer case and a dana 60 with 14 bolt in the back so all the awesome stuff everything anybody'd ever want of course we went ahead and did new paint on it got some new badging there like the 3500 on the door a little uh silverado thing or i guess it's cheyenne thing whatever it is up there on the cab there at the back and the rest of the truck is pretty well all original as far as the sheet metal and everything goes the wheels i guess the simulators not the wheels are new tires are brand new of course we put that new bed on the back there bed fits this thing great it is an awesome bed for this truck of course the length of it and everything is the right length i like the little back of it here being kind of bobbed and tapered off there a little bit so that's cool width is great and the headache rack matches the cab just almost to a t so there's not a lot there that could be left to be desired of course the flatbed opens it up for a lot of options a lot of guys were talking about maybe making this thing into like a welding truck or an expedition truck with some kind of like camper or something on the back of it and all of those things would be real easy to do with the flatbed of course you guys could also use it to pull a gooseneck trailer a regular trailer with a really cool looking car on the trailer for car shows and things like that so a lot of options here really i want to give a shout out to jeff over at a j paint in south hutchinson kansas if you guys need anything hit him up because look at this paint that paint is killer it is a beautiful beautiful paint job he did really good on that super impressed with that while we're here let's go ahead and open up on the inside of course if you guys remember we had a little bit of paint work right here that was a little messed up from people getting in and out of it so that's all been fixed there was also a spot right about there in the rubber floor mat that was bad so went ahead and threw new carpet in this thing as well so all that stuff cleaned up real nice love the way the inside of this thing is that's the original seat the thing is so comfortable and it's still nice and soft so that's awesome of course there wasn't any rust or anything down here deal with at all everything was real great there so that was all nice and everything else cleaned up really good door panels and all that stuff cleaned up real nice so that's all good and let's go ahead and look underneath the hood while we're here so everything underneath here is looking beautiful still of course too much stuff to clean up in here probably could actually go in here and scrub some of this a little bit but for the most part just a little bit at the car wash and this thing was golden so what you see is kind of what it was did go ahead and throw some new insulation in there on top of the hood because it didn't have any before so i thought it might as well have some corners of the headlight things right through there on both sides they were both messed up so it does have new headlight bezels on there as well and we went ahead and threw some new plastic lenses and things in there for the marker lights so all that stuff cleaned up really good looks really great brand new chevy bow tie on the grill but overall that is our square body truck really like this thing i really wish there was a way that i could afford just to keep it and put it up and hold on to it for another 10 20 years crazy to think about what this thing might actually be worth then the price of these things just keep going up through the roof and this is probably the last time that i'm ever going to be able to have an example like this that's this good but this low mile so one of you guys will probably be lucky enough to own it and if you guys are interested in that might consider uh following me on facebook or instagram i believe we're probably going to end up putting this thing on bring a trailer and when we do that we will let you guys know when it's on there and when it's ready to go it'll probably happen here in the next week or so so hopefully we'll have this thing moved on to its new owner that's gonna
