The Spider from Pumping Nylon

hi guys uh so i want to do a quick video on the spider exercise that you can find in the pumping nylon book i've been using this um pumping nylon book for about 15 years since i was in high school and one of my favorite exercises was the spider i guess they call it a spider because it looks like it's crawling across the fingerboard but it works really well for finger independence and so i'm going to show you how to do it so you're going to start here with c on the second string first fret and c here so first fret and third fret okay and then you're gonna go two and four so this is second fret second fret and then the fourth fret then you're gonna swap so first fret on the fifth string and then now second uh string third fret [Music] and then two four here back down [Music] so i'll play it for you [Music] yeah and so in my classes i basically just go um so it'll be one and two and three and four one and two and three and four so a quarter note on that fourth beat uh rest of it is just eighth notes so it's kind of a nice little exercise you can do as a group with kids uh and i go all the way up to the 12th fret and um and then we finish there um yeah that's the the spider found in the pumping nylon book
