[Music] well it's it just depends what i'm working on at the moment and what i have planned um for example usually if i'm if i have a concert coming up the routine is completely different than if i'm maybe at home for a long period of time and just uh practicing every day but uh so there's always a goal usually for that day or for that week i try to i'm a kind of a planner so i try to plan things in advance and um if i'm working for example yes if there's a concert next week i'm focusing on the program for that concert solely i'm not i don't do anything else i just i just work on that piece by piece so every day is is is one piece i practice a lot of scales uh still i mean i um it's something that really helps me keeps me focused and and kind kind of warms me up you know and warms my hands up and i think we have to work on our technique for the rest of our lives i mean we have to you know something we always have to remember and i try not to go into my practicing routine without warming up first it's it's like one number one thing and then um and then so it's about like 30 minutes to 45 minutes to just scales very slow practicing with the metronome in most cases and then then i go into my pieces so for example if i'm working on a bach i go uh movement by my by movement and it's something that i've been playing for a while i i still still work on it just like you know when i started working on it so it's just slow practicing with the metronome focusing on difficult sections making sure that everything is you know there that um i look at the score i use i use scores a lot um i rarely practice without the score because it just keeps me focused you know and and um so it's i still write things down and you know it's it's it's just like sometimes you have to remember the basic things um and it's always too you know good to keep up the basic things and to remember them because we forget sometimes you know and and when you play a piece for a long time some little mistakes can creep up you know and then you forget and then you you know then you learn with mistakes so so that's what i do um and then throughout that week i just prepare for the concert but if i'm at home i'm usually working on some new things like learning you know new pieces and that's completely different um because i can just focus on that so to make a long story short do just a few things that are must the scales i often uh practice the the lobos etudes as as you know as as a exercise i love the the first attitude and the third and the second one as well so each of them has a purpose so the first one is really good for the right hand the second one for the left hand and then the third one also for the left hand and there's no set amount of time it's just you know i just practice until i get things done so it's a really long term decision and you have to be 100 sure that this is what you want to do because it is a very difficult profession something that you i don't think you can do if you don't really are so in love with the guitar and uh are willing to sacrifice a lot i think anything you do in life you have to you know you have to make sure that you work very hard but with this profession there's no guarantees i have to say you know sometimes you have to work for many many years to get to a stage where you can feel comfortable performing on stage you know sharing your music with the with the audience what you see on stage when you when you watch a performer that's just a small part of what you know what uh a musician goes through every day that's that that's like the you know the last that's the icing on the cake so and that there are times when it's not gonna be fun i mean it's not you're gonna you know feel very frustrated and sometimes you will want to give up but you have to keep going you know and and so it that's why i think you know it's a long-term decision i think but you can only do it if you really really love it and you know if you are obsessed with the instrument and you want the instrument to you know to really i don't know be alive in your hands and you know so i don't know i think that would be my my suggestion and but also to have fun with it i mean this is you know guitar is a fun instrument as well so and there's many many different aspects you don't have to play classical you can play you know other styles and whatever you choose is just you know always work on your on your talent and your ability and many things that you can develop and you know just try to challenge yourself you know you
