Ahh, The Sims 1. The first instalment of the well-known life
simulation game franchise that we all know and love or hate till now. Since it's the very first one, you may think
that it's janky and outdated, but it still has its own charm that future sims games don’t
have in the form of secrets and easter eggs. Hello guys this is onlyabidoang and today
I’m going to show you 50 easter eggs and secrets that you can find in The Sims 1. Of course, there are more than 50, but this
video will be too long if I include all of them. Anyway, let’s just get straight to them,
shall we? In the neighborhood screen, if you’re lucky,
you may encounter a loch ness monster emerging from the river. Still in the neighborhood screen, if you click
on this “The Sims” sign right here, it will trigger a credit roll of all the people
involved in the creation of this game. In House Party expansion pack, if you buy
this object called “The Jungle Jumble Import Display” and then view it while the sim
is in a good mood, a pop-up will appear showing a picture from the team behind The Sims House
Party expansion pack. You may notice that you always get strange
calls from your phone. Sometimes it’s just someone having a wrong
number, but most of the calls are outright creepy and just weird. They’re actually prank calls and have no
effects to your gameplay whatsoever. If you’ve played for a total of 100 sim
days on a family, you will get this special pop up message telling you that in the next
several days, there will be a “did you know” dialog box of some of the people working behind
this game that’s shown every morning. There’s this flower vase called “Queen
Vivanco Roses”. Since it’s a décor object, you can’t
do anything with it other than view. However, there’s a chance a sim will take
a look at the flowers and then approach their most adored sim to give them a flower. This is a purely autonomous interaction. There’s a cheat with the code “rosebud”
that adds one thousand simoleons when used. The term “rosebud” could be a reference
to the movie Citizen Kane where the main premise of this movie is finding out the actual meaning
of rosebud, the last word of a wealthy and successful old man. You can buy this campfire for your lot so
your sims can gather around it to roast marshmallows, sing together, or tell a story. If one of the sim that’s telling the story
have a high charisma skill, there’s a really small chance a ghost called Green Beard will
emerge from the campfire which will make other sims run away and even make them pee themselves. If your sim has high creativity skill and
plays the piano, they may play the song “flight of the bumblebee”. If you place a bunch of jack-o-lanterns on
your lot and then everyone in the house goes to sleep at night, grim reaper will come to
your house and do a doorbell ditch prank before leaving. When you’re on the game’s start up screen
and click on the maxis logo, a silly picture of Will Wright, the creator of the sims, riding
a scooter will appear. In Living Large expansion pack, you can buy
this telescope to increase your logic skill. But there’s a chance your sim will be surrounded
by these strange blue spheres and then get abducted by aliens at night. Other sims will gather around the telescope
and cry. After several hours, your sim will then be
returned with inversed personality points. Still in Livin’ Large, if you place a plate
of cookies, a Christmas tree, and a fireplace and then have all the sims in your household
go to sleep at night, there’s a chance Santa Claus will appear in the middle of the night. After eating the plate of cookies, he will
then leave one household object and several presents for your sims. After that. He’ll disappear. Oh cool a new toy! Let’s try it out. Aww Santa knows me so well. You can buy this moosehead wall décor, but
this is not just an ordinary decoration. If placed, its antler will change depending
on the household’s mood. It will go down if they have bad mood but
will go up again if they’re happy. It will also make a moose sound sometimes. In Superstar expansion pack, If you go to
Studio Town, you may meet real-life celebrities as sims, such as Marilyn Monroe, Jon Bon Jovi,
Richie Sambora, Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah McLachlan, and Avril Lavigne. You can ask them for their autograph. Besides meeting celebrity sims, if you take
a look at the photoshoot set on Studio Town, one of the sim that’s taking the photo can
be a sim called “Andy Warhol”, which is actually famous artist in real life. Still in Superstar, you can buy this Skydiving
simulation machine. While a sim is using it, you can block the
entrance so they can’t exit. And when their energy need gets empty, they
will be flown up to the sky and die. The grim reaper won’t be summoned in this
case since the tombstone will appear immediately on the ground. In Unleashed expansion pack, if you have the
scarecrow decoration and look closely at it on 7 AM, it will slightly move a bit before
changing back to its original position. Still in Unleashed, you can encounter a skunk
called Henri le Stanc. His name could be a nod to a warner bros cartoon
character Pepé Le Pew, who is also a skunk. If you use “move_objects on” cheat on
the cheat console, you can move objects that usually cannot be moved in buy mode. Additionally, you can also move this invisible
object called “Portal Pedestrian” on the both ends of the sidewalk. This object determines the location NPCs will
appear when visiting or disappear when leaving the lot. So if you move the portals to let’s say
right on your front yard, they will appear and disappear on that exact spot. In Living Large expansion pack, if you have
the Tragic Clown painting and have a bad mood, Tragic Clown will come to your lot and he’ll
annoy the heck out of you until your mood is back up again. But there’s another way to remove them. You can call a clown catcher from the phone. Then, some man in black looking guy will come
to your lot and try to catch him. He may evade him a few times but he’ll be
caught eventually. The guy will also remove the painting from
your house. Besides calling the clown catcher, another
thing you can do is by burning the painting. If you burn the tragic clown painting when
he’s around, he’ll be engulfed by flames as well and then die. Still in Living Large, if you play with a
guinea pig when the cage is dirty, you can get bitten and get infected with a fatal and
contagious disease if not treated correctly. Besides getting some rest, one of the treatments
for this disease is by buying this guinea pig painting. With this, everyone who has the disease will
be cured after several hours. In Hot Date expansion pack, a bear named Claire
may have a chance to come to your home and rummage through your trash can. However, if you have this bearskin rug on
your lot and Claire is around, she will immediately go to the rug, scream and cry at it, and then
leave the lot immediately. In Makin’ Magic expansion pack, if you keep
performing magic spells on your home, several magical objects may grow on your lot. One of them is this giant beanstalk. To make them grow even taller, keep performing
magic on the lot. And once it’s tall enough, you’ll be able
to climb it. On top, you’ll arrive on this secret place
where there’s a sleeping giant sim of Will Wright, the creator of the sims, and a giant
can of beans. You can only view him which will trigger a
message thanking you for playing The Sims. You can also steal the magic beans from the
can as well. To leave the place, simply climb back down
through the beanstalk. There’s a magic spell called “Toadification”
that can turn a sim into a toad. However, if there’s a baby dragon nearby,
it may approach the toad sim and then eat it, killing the sim in the process. A tombstone of the deceased sim will then
appear immediately without any help from the Grim Reaper. Still in Makin’ Magic, you can buy this
wooden closet to summon bonehilda, which is a skeleton maid that’ll clean your house. Anyway, if someone is dying while bonehilda
is around, there’s a chance she will approach the Grim Reaper and ask for his autograph. You can craft this magic charm called “Horn
of Plenty” which will summon several servings of food if successful. However, if you use it while still full, it
will summon a bunch of toads instead. You can try to kiss them if you want but nothing
will usually happen. But if you’re really really lucky, the toad
may turn into a prince after you kissed him. He will then join your household and you can
play as him. In House Party expansion pack, if you’re
having an excellent party, Drew Carey will come in a limo to spice up your party. Everyone will gather around him and he will
greet everyone who is attending the party. Drew Carey is an American actor and comedian
in real life. Still in House Party, if you buy this large
cake, you can hire either a male or female entertainer. They will then pop up from the cake and do
a quite suggestive dance to the audience. Yeah, The Sims was pretty wild back then. Anyway, there’s a small chance that if you
hire a male entertainer, this guy called “El Viz” the dancer will pop up instead of the
usual one. The audience will then boo him instead. His name and appearance could be a reference
to Elvis Presley, a famous American singer back in the 50s. In Makin’ Magic, there are two secret recipes
that are not shown in the cookbook. One of them is called Magic nectar that can
be made in this nectar maker. The recipes are two grapes and one toad sweat. When consumed, your sim will become a ghost
and can walk through walls and objects temporarily. They can also socialize with real ghosts. The other is called magic tart that can be
made in this brick oven. The recipes are butter, baking mix, and pixie
dust. When consumed, your sim’s head will transform
into a donkey’s head temporarily. After making them, these recipes will be available
in the cookbook. Still in Makin’ Magic, magician sims can
enchant garden gnomes to make them alive and help gardening. If there’s a nectar maker on your lot, the
gnomes may interact with it by swimming in the tub. After that, they will act a bit tipsy for
a while because of it. Besides gnomes, magicians can also enchant
lawn flamingo. The flamingo will then turn humanoid. You can’t interact with them directly other
than to turn her back, but she will do autonomous interactions such as cheering you up, giving
you a massage, or hugging you. They will also do flamboyant dances from time
to time. In Vacation expansion pack, if you eat from
buffet tables while having low hygiene on a vacation lot, you may get this disease called
Montezuma’s revenge, also known as poopy pants (Yes, that’s what it’s called according
to the code). It’s basically similar to traveller’s
diarrhea and the sim’s bladder need will go down much faster than the usual rate. They will also hold their butt a lot apparently. Don’t worry though, this disease is not
fatal and will go away eventually. Still in Vacation, if you go to one of the
destinations, you can find this arcade machine called “Whack a Will”, again referencing
to the creator of The Sims Will Wright. In Superstar expansion pack, if a famous sim
keeps failing while performing fame stuff like modelling or acting, they will have a
nervous breakdown. While having a breakdown, their fun, comfort,
and bladder needs will go down and their fame level may be reduced as well. Still in Superstar, if you do a print ad photoshoot
session, you can see the model holding the box art of The Sims 1 Vacation expansion pack. Wow, talk about self-promotion. Well, at least it’s not as blatant as The
Sims 4. If you go to a lot in Magic Town from Makin’
Magic pack, you can find these paintings. If you view them, they will actually move
and scare your sims. But if your sim is a magician, they will react
by cheering instead. When you watch the cartoon channel on TV,
there are several characters that can appear. These characters are the mascots of each vacation
lot in Vacation expansion pack, which are Betty Yeti from the snowy area, Archie Archer
from the forest area, and Marky Sharky from the beach area. There’s a statue called David by DeLux sculpture. This is based on the famous statue in real
life “David” made by Michelangelo, but here it’s made out of gold and wearing a
boxer. If a sim keeps fighting with someone on the
same household, the one who keeps losing will get frustrated and leave the household, making
them not playable anymore. You can buy this pinball machine called “See
me, feel me pinball machine”. This is a reference to The Who’s Tommy rock
opera, which is a musical about a boy called Tommy who is blind, deaf, and dumb which then
become a pinball player, similar to what the object’s description said. The name “see me, feel me” is referencing
to one of the songs in the musical. You can buy a computer called “Microscotch
Covetta”, which is referencing the tech company Microsoft. When a child is sleeping, adult sim may tuck
them in automatically. This cannot be done manually. In Superstar expansion pack, if a celebrity
sim dies, their tombstone will look different than normal tombstones. Still in Superstar, there’s a movie poster
that you can buy on Studio Town. One of the movie posters named “Two Men,
one Woman, and one monkey” could be a reference to one of the posters of the English band
“The Beatles” because of its striking similarity. In Livin’ Large, you can use this chemistry
set to create random potions with different effect. There are many of them, but if your sim drinks
this purple potion, they will scream and then turn into this frankenstein’s monster-looking
creature temporarily. While in this form, you can’t control them. They will use objects on your house and break
them immediately after usage. However, if you place a painting easel, instead
of breaking objects, they will paint on the easel instead. There’s a ceiling lamp called “McLeod’s
Chandelier of Loneliness”. This could be a reference to the movie Highlander
with its main character, Connor Macleod. The description also stated that he’s travelling
to a verdant highland. On the description of the décor object “Antique
Terrestrial Globe”, it was stated that this was based on drawings of the cartographer
Gerardus Mercador. The name is a reference to Gerardus Mercator,
a renowned cartographer from the 16th century. When someone in the family dies, you can plea
to the grim reaper. He may reject your plea, but there’s a chance
you’ll be challenged to a rock-paper-scissors game. If you win, the sim will be revived completely,
but if you lose, the sim will be revived as a zombie. Zombies are basically like a normal sim but
they have a greenish appearance and their personality points are empty. Also, this is the only sims game as of now
where you can have zombie pets as well. So those are 50 easter eggs and secrets that
you can find in the original Anyway before ending this video, I just want to give a big
shoutout to the channel Cendrillon for providing some of the information about The Sims 1 secret
and hidden features since it’s so hard to find info about this old game in this day
and age. If you want to know more about Sims 1, you
should pay a visit to their channel. Also, huge thanks to some of you guys that
helped me find out even more easter eggs and secrets on my community post. They really helped a lot. Thank you so much guys for watching this video,
