the short classic is only a few days away athletes are heading over the fans are getting excited and as you can tell big loss is getting excited so let's get straight into the action [Music] big strongman comp coming up I'm excited you know what I get like I am very very much looking forward to this weekend lots of action going on there is obviously the pro show but there's the men's shows the women's show I've got two of my own athletes and those as well so looking forward to watching that but we are here to talk about the Men's Pro show Brian Shaw's last ever Strongman Competition yes of course so obviously Brian wants to go out for Big Bang but I'm sure and it looks like the competition is really evolving every single year we know from previous years but it looks like it's going to be more sort of sports festival West this year there's a lot going on this year speakers arm wrestling going on there yeah Lalas is over there having an arm wrestling match but let's focus on the strong man as we said Brian Shaw's last ever competition as Liz said the um Shaw classic is evolving getting bigger and better every single year it's established itself as one of the the big major shows probably one of the top four major shows right now oh 100 and also we should say this is um he is rebranding to call it the strongest man on Earth as well but it all comes under the banner of the shaw classic I'm not 100 sure how it works yet so to me competition and you know we've had Trey Mitchell dominating this show for the last two years so let's quickly dive into the athletes because there has been a few changes starting off with the returning Champion Trey Mitchell he's actually the winner of the last two short Classics these are the Pinnacle of his career so far it's the show he seems to come in best for every single year he likes the format here I'm sure it's going to be no different this year he'll want to do really really well next up we have the current World's Strongest Man and this year's winner of the Arnold strongman classic Mitch Hooper he was third at this competition last year and he is absolutely going to want to improve on that result the man that placed fourth at last year's competition and former world Strongest Man winner Alexi novakov is coming back to the shore classic also returning is the man who plays fifth last year Canada Maxine Boudreau and this will be his first big competition this year having suffered an injury early this year and continuing the order we got the man that came six last year Kevin Ferris he's not had the best couple of competitions since that but he's done well here before a couple of good events let's see how he does then we have the current world champion from the strongman Champions League either schmuck stillis is coming over from Latvia and ivas is in the shape of his life right now he's looking good next up we've got Evan Singleton who's had a fantastic year so far made his first world Strongest Man final and he just won the strongman classic over in London next we have the American Nightmare Bobby Thompson back at the shore classic and this year he plays third for the second time in a row at the Arnold strongman classic next up we've got former Europe's strongest man and a log press extraordinaire Luke Stoltman and next we have former World's Strongest Man two time World strongest man Tom Stoltman and can you believe it this will be his first time ever competing at this competition next up we've got Britain's strongest man Adam Bishop someone to look out for in the Hummer Tire deadlift then we have Thomas Evans Evans winner of the show Arnold strongman classic and I know he's extremely excited to be competing in his first ever short classic from Wales gav Bilton and then last but certainly not least of course we have Brian Shaw himself competing in his last ever professional Strongman Competition so amazing lineup we do have a few athletes that have pulled out recently so most recently both pavlos Pavlo and ekenechny the um massive giant that is he's a humongous man shame that he won't be competing would have liked to have seen him on the Hummer Tire deadlift yes 100 Pavlo is a huge deal also Pavlo the current Europe strongest man has pulled out of this one Graham Hicks was originally down in the lineup and Matthias kilishkowski was also down to do this but unfortunately pulled out yeah so Mateus you know he has said that he just won't be ready in time for this competition this is a tough heavy comp so he wants to continue his recovery and Graham Hicks is very focused on the 505 which is just two weeks later but there are quite a few athletes doing this competition and then the deadlift world championships two weeks later yeah that's going to be an interesting one but that is for another video I want to focus on the shore classic today so let's take a look at event number one now event number one is the log medley however it's a little bit different because the athletes can choose which one they want to do there's three different logs 172 kilos 186 kilos and a 200 kilo log now last year this caught a lot of people out because athletes will go out try the 200 kilo log fail it and then they'd already used up a huge amount of energy and then started to panic on the lighter logs Bobby Thompson actually had a terrible performance on this for him he's much better this year but um yeah where he tried the 200 and it kind of threw him off you use up all that energy then you've got nothing left for it's you know going down to 180 186 it's not a huge drop when you've already given that much energy so you really got to be confident that you can get that heavy one for the guys that maybe aren't quite 200 kilos you know they're better off focusing on just getting points on the board going for the maybe 186 and you know then they can get a few reps on the 172 but someone who did extremely well at this last year was the winner last year Trey Mitchell the only athlete to press the 200 kilo logs yeah two reps of it but and you know last year like you said we had some great lock lifters but it goes to show doesn't it like what people are capable of and then what happens in the competition pressure of competition peaking right there's a lot of factors it's a different log you know people get used to their own logins can do amazing numbers but you go to a different competition slightly differently built equipment it throws people off that being said we do have some great loggers we do have great log lifters again so of course Trey Mitchell and not just the short classic he won the log lifts and the Arnold strongman classic earlier this year and he's not always a name that people associate like when you think of the biggest guys for a one rep max um trade's not always in that conversation it's not me but he's beaten a lot of guys that are in that conversation yeah I mean one of those guys we talk about log all the time is Luke Stockman and he is an incredible log press we've seen it before but he's had some bad performances noticeably at the Arnold's this year yeah he came ninth on the log he couldn't get the heavier lock one of just two guys and it cost him daily and it's the same principle in this competition doesn't matter how many you can rep out on the lighter log because one rep on the heavier log will supersede her now someone that should do much better than last year his training is going really well is Bobby Thompson yes he's looking strong he's looking fit he's training for this company has actually gone really well I I'm excited to see how he does because last year it wasn't a performance that he wanted so hopefully he can kind of redeem himself um this year but Bobby is the current American logliff record holder and he'll want to show why yeah and then we've got some guys who you know Tom stoltman's log has been looking excellent recently Mitch Hooper also Evan Singleton as well Evan's looking really strong Tom as you mentioned there he's almost looking better than Luke on the log right now his Tom's coming into this competition in shape yeah it really is a Tom that's focused which is exciting from from my point of view yeah I've known Tom a long time and I sometimes sometimes think I can tell when Tom's trying to say the right things but you just know deep Insight he's not feeling it I saw him a few weeks ago up in Scotland the man is ready and that that as a fan is exciting to see it was one week ago in Scotland can you believe that well yeah Maxine Boudreau also we should talk about because he's a 200 kilo plus log lifter if he's back in shape obviously he broke his leg early very true very true and someone else that was very impressive on the logic world's strongest man this year is Thomas Evans we're talking about the the log ladder in there yes but he was very good he beat Luke someone in fact he beat everyone he did the five Vlogs the fastest time out of everyone yeah so it could be an exciting log lift battle to start off the competition obviously Brian Shaw it's his equipment it's his logs he's gonna be strong he's he's gonna be coming into this competition as good as possible hard to pick a winner on the log hmm the next event is always a favorite for many people the max Hammer Tire deadlift current world record holder with 549 kilos Alexian overcoff is in the competition from what we've heard and seen he's focusing more on the deadlift than he is the whole competition yeah apparently well and you know we should have known this because Alexi had a treatment recently on a recurring elbow issue that he's had so we do have it on goodworthy he's not in the best shape for the full competition but it's not affected his hammer time deadlift training and obviously as the current world record holder he's going to want to do very well there some other names to look out for now this this is the really interesting one for athletes that are doing both this show and the world deadlift championships a few weeks later particularly someone like Adam Bishop yeah Adam is kind of vocally put out there that he wants that deadlift record is he going to commit 100 to the shore classic and you know I feel if he does that it's going to affect it his deadlift a few weeks later yeah if he comes here and pulls something massive on this it will affect his central nervous system plus seven other brutal events yeah it's a really tough competition and travel Etc yep Trey Mitchell is down to do both so that could be interesting Trey obviously a very solid deadlifter I think this type of deadlift is going to be good for Trey as well Bobby Thompson winner of the deadlift at the Arnold Classic yeah he's looking really strong Mitch Hooper's looking strong on his deadlift again Tom Stockman's deadlift's always improving Brian Shaw's posted up some recent training videos that look really good so I think we're gonna you know this is gonna be another battle Yeah I think I can see this one coming down to Bish and Alexi personally if Alexi's body is okay for it I think so based on previous performances on this bit of Kit they probably I think the two most prolific lifters on the Hummer Tire they lift Brian sure at one point but he's not quite where he was a few years ago um but don't count out Trey don't count out Bobby don't count out Mitch they're the type of guys that are going to cause problems if one of those is off their game so next we have the medley which is a wheelbarrow carry into a vertical lift now they have done similar it's slightly different this year from my understanding they're loading the wheelbarrow as they're going as that rope of something they have some sandbags they have to load into the wheelbarrow and then carry the wheelbarrow along then they go to the arm over arm yeah now this is an absolutely brutal event and we see a lot of men unable to complete this event now this is the event that has well you would think cost Trey Mitchell it does cost him in points and I think this year with Mitch Hooper being so much better with Tom Stopman being there I think Trey needs like damage limitation on this type of event this year yeah it seems to have cost him I mean we say it's costing points definitely the the fact they've still been able to win having had a bad adventure shows how good he is yeah some of the other events but this year yeah with the likes of Kevin in there um Brian you know I think Evan Evan could be good at something like this Maxine Boudreau actually won this event last year Maxine's back Thomas Evans you know this is going to be an interesting one and I watched a bit of training for this I've particularly on Brian's Channel watched some of his trade this is a brutal event Brian is really testing the athletes out on this one could be an event that really kind of throws a spanner in the works very hard to predict on on events like this sometimes because mistakes can happen um but yeah it's going to be exciting to watch so next up the last event for day number one is the bag over bar and Brian likes it heavy and high yeah he does and um yeah this is a really brutal bag over bar event but we've seen some great results in the past I mean Maxime is typically a great thrower he didn't have the best run last year compared to previous years Tom Stoltman is great at throwing Mitch Hooper has improved massively on his throwing Brian Shaw obviously it's a great event for him but Thomas Evans as well do you remember I mean is totally different but the the throw at the Arnold a little bit different but he's a good thrower yeah he is a good thrower he's got that explosive power definitely helps and we think I've built and do well at throwing before as well so it could be a good event for the big Welshman but yeah Maximus had good results before um Tom Stoltman I was ivis is won throwing events at five times but that's in a strongman Champions League level competitions one thing I will say is Brian's throw as I mentioned just earlier it's heavier and higher than almost any other competition that does make a difference sometimes with a slightly lower throw the best throws don't always win no whereas this will really test you out and also how tired will the athletes be from that third event going into this one's last event of the day spent the day uh yes we've seen it kind of you know it's it's been tough in the past I don't think many people have finished this event before no no most people don't so if anyone can finish it they know they're in the points press which we saw for the first time last year I think there was a few teething problems last year in terms of like the viewer understanding what was going on I kind of got that impression there have been some tweaks to it this year I think the athletes that have the experience of using it last year it will be beneficial having been on this bit of Kit before I think we'll see more reps than we saw last year I think so too I I feel like last year and um I don't think I'm being unfair when I say Brian had a big advantage on it last year because obviously his equipment brand new to competition experience does help and that makes me wonder um about Tom on this event because just don't know I don't know what to expect but like you you look at Tom and you don't think he's going to be a great leg presser no not necessarily you look at guys that Bobby looks like someone who should be a great leg presser didn't actually do it last year because he pulled out so I know mitt trooper's really good at this type of event Brian was very good last year it was great yeah but yeah you look at the body shapes and you think guys like Trey Bobby Luke Thomas Evans yeah yeah but it's a hard one to predict very very need to make sure their feet are in the right position last year I don't know what the rules are this year but last year they they kind of got measured up without the weight on yeah and then they weren't allowed to move their feet from that position now if you've ever used a leg press before sometimes with no weight it can feel a bit different um so just understanding where your feet need to be is going to be really really important would you want your feet higher not necessarily because every leg press is slightly different they're not universally the same it's not like a squat bar that you use every every single leg press I've ever used some some leg presses I can just put a thousand kilos on others 400 kilos is hard because of the angle that you're coming out the width of the the plate that your feet are going on there's a lot of fractures with a leg press it's not always the same so you do need to understand kind of positionings and what feels best for you then we've got the atlas Stones Brian stones are a challenging set you will see lots of guys not doing all of the stones but we do again have some great Stone lifters and do you know I love I'm so happy that he doesn't have this as the final event because I know some people think I hate Atlas Stones I don't but I do hate it when it's always used as a decider and the fact that it's always the last event so I love that he's changing it up because it means at the end people can hug and not worry mishaps we have malfunctions but yeah no I think um having the stones that's not the last event is is a nice change yeah bring some variety to the competition and I mean who should we be looking out for here Tom storman obviously I mean sure obviously Trey Mitchell or amazing Stone Maxine Boudreau I have a schmuck says and Mitch Hooper he was the only other person except for Tommy finish the stones yeah Mitch had a bad run at the strongman he's become a man possessed about learning he's become a scientist a tacky scientist he's got everything he's been trying them in different temperatures one of the best things that could have happened to him like people forget how new Mitch is I know they're used to you know sometimes you go to a competition and the environment can affect how the tacky feels and the stones and Mitch was just a little bit lazy in terms of you know just thinking whatever you know it'll work um whereas some like Brian Shaw he'll have 10 different tackies lined up and he'll be kind of looking at the temperature and thinking about all these little things and it does make a difference at the top level and we've seen you know Mitch has gone away and put that work in to try and make sure the same thing doesn't happen again but we know we can lift big Stones he was second or third on the stones at Worlds um so he's had up and down performances his recent training videos he's loading some hugely heavy stones for multiple reps Trey Mitchell we know how good he is Bradshaw he loves the stones yeah but Brian didn't finish the stones at Worlds this year either Evan Singleton but remember what I always say about Stones as the last event yes depends where you are in the competition Brian was not in a great position Brian wanted to finish strong he wanted that he also had a battle with your best mate in the heat where they went back to back with that 200 kilos Stone many many times that's true he's not gonna have done that yeah these are a stone set that Brian knows well yeah Brian is going to finish this though yeah no I have no doubt no doubt but yeah all very good Stone lifters but particularly the likes of of Trey Bobby this is the one event for Bobby that always worries me yes putting the work and he's making progress but yeah this could be an event that maybe cost some money it's going to be hard because there's a lot of good Stone lifters very much so then we go into the standing chest press which is I just fine I'm gonna find this so hard to predict um because we just don't know do you know what's really interesting you've got a group of amazingly talented strong men in here but none of them are renowned bench pressers it's not like you know you look at some strong men that were huge bench presses the likes of Eddie was a massive bench presser the Jonas was a massive bench press but it's not a bench press anyway it's not it's a chest press yeah which looking at the machine if you haven't seen it already go and check out the short classic page it looks absolutely epic there's a video of Nick best who is a great bench presser uh testing it out it's very similar to the system they use the World's Strongest Man with the squat of deadlift where a barrel is loaded in after each rep and it gets heavier and heavier but looking at what I've seen it's going to really strong tricep presses it doesn't seem to go too much on the chest it's kind of more that tricep strength that's going to be important um I'm excited to see it I think it's going to be an interesting one hopefully it works really well hopefully for the competition it's always risky doing something new like this but I think it's going to be good I think it's going to be fun to see a different challenge normally anytime we see a new event in a competition we see results improved by the athletes the more familiar they get exactly so I would always expect to see whatever people do this year to be beaten next year and I expect we'll see that on the leg press but I am excited to see something different and there are some very strong presses are going to come down to how much energy they've got left at this point has the log taken anything out of the triceps how much do some of these other events take out but um yeah there's some you know Luke stortman's triceps stupidly strong Bobby Thompson has great power in the triceps Trey Mitchell has great power in the triceps Evan Singleton yeah he's a really decent decent bench press so yeah I mean Mitch's progress on his bench in the last month has been ridiculous this is progress on everything it's just not normal I think Thomas Evans could do well on this as well just looks powerful in this type of movement so we shall see it's going to make it exciting going into the last event which is a medley fingles finger into the power stairs my goodness this is like I I you know Brian's last ever competition two of his favorite events yeah this is it's a nice way to end it I I and you know we spoke about the stones not being the last event one thing that's quite exciting with the power of stairs as the last event is you've got that kind of visual battle and sometimes it goes back and forth yeah uh I think this is going to be a hell of a battle particularly if the competition is close at this point yes very much so now when we start to look at the different athletes obviously I mean Tom Stoltman is brilliant at both of those events and honestly he's my pick for the win he won the fingers fingers in the final this year it will strongest man he won the power stairs and it was in the final of the previous year Brian I do expect to do very well at this but I do think he'll be feeling tired as well let's not forget he's also running the competition running the company oldest man in the competition yeah you know all the pressure that's going to be on his back if he finishes this in a solid position he's done amazing I'm sure he will he's going to want to go out on top I don't feel Brian will win this competition no I think after watching the world Strongest Man final this year I just don't think he can to be honest I didn't think the younger guys have just got too good and he's not quite as good I think the issue is recovery though he's been competing for years and years and you just don't recover as fast in your 40s do you yeah I think what we'll see from Brian is a good day one and then just start kind of that fatigue may be kicking however last event great event for him he might be feeling fresh the energy of the crowd might keep him going who knows what he's capable of yeah now and been looking at um other athletes and their results now I do not think this is going to be a good event for Trey Mitchell so Trey we've seen do like he's he's put the fingers he's good at the fingers he's good but the power stairs has not been so good for him so he did it just last month in North America's strongest man and he was in sixth place there and then when they had it in the final of world strongest man last year he was ninth ninth out of ten yeah it's not could have been the best event for him no in competition and I guess this year having two events that might cost him a little bit more maybe we don't see him at the top of the podium this year but I wouldn't count him out though because I counted him out last year and he went and won so I'm not counting Trey Trey is going to be one of the guys to look out for 100 yeah I feel like this could be a great event also for either schmutzless not known as one of the best single finger presses whatever they do flippers but he's exceptional at Power stairs yeah very good at Power stairs uh Mitch Hooper should be good on this he's put a lot of work into these events over the last few months Mitch is one of the fittest athletes as well he doesn't tired I think no he'll have the conditioning still at this point in the competition yeah so we have the athletes we have the events I know you do not want to do predictions do you because you have to I'll let you know my thoughts all right Auntie Liz is going to do predictions but I I think I think top two is going to be a battle between Tom Stockman and mid trooper I agree and I think I think the guys to really look out for in this competition are obviously those two yeah I think I think Trey Mitchell should certainly not be counted out he's a two-time champion he seems to come in at his best to get this competition um I think Brian Shaw cannot be overlooked no of course he's going to come in in great shape I've got to say Bobby Thompson's training has been going very very well I'm hoping from a you know I want to see him like he was at the Arnold's I think he's capable he's looking in great shape he's been very focused super impressed with Evan Singleton this year so for me those are the six guys I think are going to be in that top position what place they Place him is this is the fun bit you know yeah because I've got two guys in the race I don't want to kind of put predictions out there yeah but that's the guys I think that are really going to be challenging for for the title uh I'm putting my money on on Tom or Mitch yeah but I wouldn't be surprised with any one of them no um I don't like to Discount trade but I do feel that with the guys that are in it the events in it and yeah I I do think it's going to be hard um I also agree it'll probably be between Tom and Mitch and I was looking at each event to see where I thought they might place now it's really hard because I feel like both of them are going to be excellent because we know they're really going to want to win this and beat each other but I feel possibly like I feel like Tom could definitely win more events than Mitch but I also feel Tom has the potential to drop more points on a couple of the events whereas Mitch will be more consistent so I'm a little bit worried about Tom on the car leg press the standing Benchmark that I feel like he could win it but I also wouldn't be surprised if he came seventh sure you know I I just don't know I feel like Mitch's consistency May pip Tom by like half a point but I also wouldn't be surprised to see Tom dominate the whole thing I mean one thing you know I don't always put Tom as as the main prediction no more from knowing Tom quite well obviously when Tom's at Worlds we all know he's coming in shape yeah uh some other shows Tom doesn't come in shape we didn't even mention him I think of the Arnolds earlier this year um but Tom is which is like second or third because we thought sometimes sometimes we don't but um you know Tom from talking to him last week let's do it I can tell when Tom is just saying things because he feels like he has to say it because he's top Stockman world's strongest man but he's talking like he means it right now and I've seen Tom when he talks like he means it and he usually backs it up and you know last year a few excuses of why he couldn't come to the comp and stuff like that this year I don't think we'll see any of that because he knows he's in great shape that confidence is there with him it's oozing out of him he wants to compete he wants to show people he's one of the absolute best in the world um world's strongest man title yeah but it's it's sometimes the best thing Mitch not winning in the strongman classic that's gonna lit that fire under him and he's working harder um we see it with athletes all the time when you're winning great but you don't learn when you're winning when you get beat it hurts and you kind of go away and you work harder and you look at why you lost so it's always good when you know we see athletes kind of coming back like this um but it's going to be an amazing show it is and I think to round off the podium it's either going to be Trey Mitchell or Evan Singleton I know yeah and I think Bobby's going to be right up there as well I won't be surprised to see Bobby third or fourth okay yeah I'm really non-committed with this because I think it's really hard with you know the guys who've never done the shaw classic before coming in a brand new event that we haven't seen a combination of events that we haven't seen together it's just a tough one to predict I mean we're not even talking about other guys like Thomas Evans came fifth at the shore classic Luke Stockman's had some sorry the Arnold Classic but he won the qualifier last year Luke Stockman's had some great wins in the past ivis is in the shape of his life Kevin Ferris you know he has some brilliant events all the moving events and you know he he should never be overlooked but we're not mentioning Alexi we've said why earlier you know when do we not have Alexa in the top three I've like and probably win he's done this Alex has done this before he's kind of made people feel like he's not in great shape and he turns up and he and dominates he's a little monkey sometimes honestly I would not be surprised if that was all nonsense and he's coming in but no but you're top three then your definitive top three you've got to go I'm gonna say Mitch Tom Trey okay I wanted to be non-committal thanks love one of us has to be so the whole competition is being streamed on ADR live again now this year it's just one price for absolutely everything for the whole weekend so that's three competitions and the bits in between two it's 19.99 we're going to be doing watch-along parties for the main Pro men's competition so that starts I think it starts at 8pm UK time on Saturday which is 1pm local time so it's going to be some late nights for us Europeans but we are committed we are here for it so I'm gonna include a link in the description make sure you buy the live stream because it does support the competition and the athletes and we look forward to hopefully seeing you guys on the watch party too [Music] now really annoying Liz she doesn't like weird noises she doesn't like whispering when she edits this later it'll really annoy her [Music] the chore chore the show classic is only a few days away athletes are flying over the fans are getting fans of getting excited they're getting it I'm getting excited you're clearly very excited you just
