I have probably never felt so conflicted about
a new character like Freminet. And the thing is he is actually a fun 4-star
unit but the amount of bizarre things about him is almost funny, in a sad way. But anyway in this video, let me just showcase
to you how I think Hoyoverse expects us to play him, which is the physical build but
at the same time, I’ll also showcase his Melt and Dendro comps which are actually pretty
interesting and I will also unlock all of his constellations and show you how strong
C6 Freminet can be. Now the biggest thing about him is the elemental
skill. The developers as always made sure to write
down a huge wall of text when in reality, it’s an extremely simple skill. Basically, you use the skill, deal some initial
Cryo DMG and then after when using a Normal Attacks, you gain 1 Bar of Pressure Level,
do 4 Normal Attacks and you end with the final 4th Pressure Level, which unleashes a Physical
finisher when tapping the skill again or it just happens naturally with the next normal
attack. Now you might be wondering – what’s the
point of the Pressure Level? Well, if you look at this visual explanation
I’ve made, basically starting at Pressure Level 0, if you tap the skill again, it will
deal the best possible Cryo DMG you can get out of it, then moving onwards to Pressure
Levels 1, 2 and 3 – it will deal a mix of Cryo and Physical damage, with each level
making Physical damage better while Cryo becomes worse. At the final 4th pressure level, its pure
Physical DMG and that’s what you want to aim for if you decide to play him as a Physical
Damage dealer. But honestly – I’ve tried out several
teams and the amount of effort you put in, just feels unrewarding because even with a
kinda decent Pale Flame 4-set, Beacon 5-star Claymore and a team that focuses on helping
Freminet as much as possible, the biggest hits were barely 40 to 45 thousand damage,
after hitting with the 4th pressure level skill. And yeah, I did build a team with Benny Boy
to boost Freminet’s damage but the thing about Freminet is that his energy generation
with a Physical Build is pretty bad and you want him to go into Burst mode because it
reduces the cooldown of the skill by 70%, which essentially means he can just spam the
skill but more importantly – each of his normal attacks, now increase the pressure
by 2 levels instead of 1, so you can do it really fast and deliver that 4th pressure
level skill hit. Now I was able to build 2 teams made out entirely
out of 4-stars when I was messing around with Freminet’s physical build but I felt the
most comfortable when there was a Cryo battery in a team, like Diona. Also, utilizing a Hydro applicator with Freminet
is pretty good because his 2nd passive increases his skill damage by 40% for 5 seconds after
triggering a Shatter reaction, which he will do it easily since Frozen enemies can be Shattered
with Claymore hits. But another gripe I’ve had with him was
the absolutely useless resistance to interruption he obtains from his burst. Seriously, I think it’s as bad as Cyno’s
and there’s no worse feeling than getting interrupted when you’re about to unleash
Freminet’s biggest hit from the Pressure Level skill. Like, I know he is only constellation 0 and
I will showcase his C6 potential later in the video but so far – his physical damage
build in underwhelming at best. Although, there is a silver lining in this
and it has to do with how flexible the pressure level mechanic is – you can use the skill
and even if it doesn’t hit an enemy, you can continue building it up by just slashing
the air, which is pretty cool but also, even if you switch out and come back to him, the
mechanical penguin stays there waiting for us like a true friend, although it does have
a 10 second duration. Also, another funny thing about him is that
Skyward Pride actually works really well on him because he has some serious energy problems
if you don’t include a Cryo battery unit or other team mates with Favonius weapons. He only obtains 2 particles from the skill
and then 1 more particle can be obtained if he delivers the final 4th pressure level hit,
so in a burst mode, yeah he can repeat this a few times with a physical build but its
still not enough, so the Energy Recharge coming from Skyward Pride is really nice and in addition
the passive that increases overall DMG and unleashes the Vacuum Blades which is considered
physical damage is actually relevant for him and so Skyward Pride barely falls behind the
top 5-star weapons like Beacon or Broken Pines. I guess that’s one of the great things about
him if you have this claymore lying around and you want to finally find some use for
it. Now that we have the physical build out of
the way – let’s talk about his Melt teams. Surprisingly enough – his burst has a decent
multiplier, so he can deliver a nice chunk of damage to an enemy and what’s even cooler
– thanks to the 1st passive it reduces his skill’s cooldown by 1 second if he didn’t
deliver a 4th level pressure hit and this combined with the burst reducing skill’s
cooldown by 70%, he can essentially just spam the level 0 pressure attack from his skill. Because, remember how I said that when looking
at this visual guide, you can see he can deal pure Cryo damage if he doesn’t build up
the pressure meter? Yeah, you can just keep double tapping the
skill button and dealing Cryo damage twice. Just keep in mind if you accidentally do a
Normal Attack, the Cryo’s multiplier becomes significantly worse. Now I’ve built my Freminet with Lavawalker
4-set since the majority of the time, the enemy will have a Pyro Aura when he triggers
melt, so it’s a big damage boost he is getting from the 4-set but you can easily just go
for any combination of 2-sets that provide Cryo DMG, ATK%, Elemental Mastery or even
Energy Recharge. I actually like this type of playstyle, although
setting up for big Melt damage without Kazuha can be a bit of a challenge, since you get
so much more value out of double swirling both Pyro and Cryo instead of just swirling
Cryo or Pyro with another Anemo unit. Still, we are talking about Freminet here,
so of course there had to be some kind of a weird problem and this time, it has to do
with the Internal Cooldown of the skill. Basically, if I just mindlessly keep tapping
the skill button, I’ve noticed that almost always the Melt happens on the initial hit,
while the 0 pressure level attack ends up not melting and this is not ideal because
its almost 2.5 times more stronger than the Upward Thrust, which is the initial Cryo hit
he deals. So then I thought, OK, let me go a bit slower
here, try to add at least a second inbetween after using the skill and just standing there
and hanging out doing nothing. I mean, I guess it kinda works, if you get
into the rhythm, you can almost consistently make sure the more powerful Pressure Level
0 hit lands as Melt but then that also means you are getting less energy particles and
inviting yourself to all sorts of trouble if he gets interrupted, which by the way it
will happen thanks to the useless resistance to interruption he obtains from the burst. And sure, you could add a shielder to the
team but his damage is already not that amazing that he could carry the whole team but I am
not gonna delve too deep into this for now because getting too obsessed about little
details seems pointless during the first week when the character launches and who knows,
maybe somebody will find a perfect rotation to land his Melts consistently. But don’t get me wrong – I think this
Melt build right now is pretty decent compared to the physical one and if you get him, you
don’t have to go for a physical team if you don’t want to, which is great, I am
always happy when a character can be played several ways, so that’s one more big plus
for Freminet. Alright as I promised, let’s fire up all
of Freminet’s constellations and see how good he actually is at C6. Starting with C1, the skill’s pressurized
hits, which are those finishers you unleash after tapping the skill for the second time,
they gain 15% Crit Rate. Honestly, this is probably one of the better
C1 upgrades for a 4-star, since the majority of Freminet’s demage lies in his skill and
actually if he is physical, that’s the only Physical damage he deals from his entire kit,
excluding the Normal Attacks. So, getting essentially 30 Critical Value
is pretty amazing. Now C2 is also pretty nice, each time he delivers
one of the pressurized hits from the skill, he will gain 2 energy or 3 if it’s the 4th
level pressure hit, so it will be about 12 Energy total if using Melt build and about
6 maybe 9 energy if using the Physical build. It’s a great way to meet those Energy Recharge
requirements when running him in teams where he badly needs energy. And as for the 3rd constellation – just
like Lyney, he gains 3 extra levels for his Normal Attack, which is a rather unique upgrade
but nothing too crazy if I am being honest. C4 is essentially a free 18% ATK bonus you
would get from one of those 2-set artifact bonuses, basically if he triggers a Shatter,
Freeze or Superconduct reaction, he gets 9% ATK boost for 6 seconds and this can happen
up to 2 times, which frankly, does matter because even if his ascension is ATK%, I still
feel like he lacks so much ATK when running teams without Benny, so it’s a decent boost
for him. C5 is just a nice +3 level boost to his skill
damage, which is important both for Physical and Melt builds… while C6 similar to C4,
when triggering one of those mentioned reactions, he gains 12% Critical DMG and this can stack
up to 3 times, so far a total of 36% Crit DMG. I think this is where his physical build starts
to shine compared to Melt, because if you’re running something like Broken Pines or the
new craftable Tidal Shadow or basically any claymore that doesn’t have Critical Rate
substat, that means you have to double down on obtaining Critical Rate from artifacts
but thanks to C6, he now also gets a big chunk of Critical DMG as well. But the thing is – I still don’t believe
its worth pursuing C6 if you’re bent on making him work, honestly even at C1 he works
as intended if you build him as physical damage dealer because the state of physical teams
is pretty sad right now, so no matter how many constellations you throw at him, if he
is not Eula, he will still struggle in the Abyss, while for world exploration, sure you
will see bigger numbers but things die there easily anyway. And even Eula has a tough time in many Abyss
rotations, so again, I only recommend going for the shy boy’s constellations if you
have the disposable income and have nothing better to do with it. Or you know, you could be like me, just obtain
him once and then over the next 3 years when we are done saving all of the nations, maybe
he will be at C6…. Maybe. So, after getting this far into my video,
I am guessing it doesn’t come as a surprise that Freminet is pretty underwhelming. But I think in terms of design, he is probably
one of the most interesting 4-stars in the game right now, you can actually do some cool
combos and the pressure level mechanic is actually fun to play around with. Also, I mentioned that you can use him in
Dendro teams – well, you can in Hyperbloom, its actually not the worst thing in the world,
often you can have 1 open slot left after building the whole Hyperbloom team so it could
be anyone and in this case, by using Freminet, it actually works out pretty decently since
you can cause Superconduct on enemies with someone like Kuki but keep in mind because
Claymore characters can Shatter Frozen enemies, it won’t be like a Hyperfridge comp, basically
enemies will get frozen and Shattered within a second, so its not as consistent when running
Hyperfridge with Kaeya, who can keep the enemies frozen in place. Obviously he is not a meta unit but luckily,
this current Abyss rotation is pretty easy, so I didn’t have that much trouble clearing
the whole thing with 36-stars when utilizing a F2P team but… who am I kidding, the OP
4-stars did most of the work here. Although I’ll give where credit is due and
he does disable the new enemies with Pneuma aligned skill. I honestly hope that Hoyo comes up with a
good way to buff Physical damage dealers because as much as I am leaning towards Freminet’s
Melt build, its honestly more fun to use his physical build because then you actually get
to fully utilize the Pressure Meter and deliver those satisfying level 4 pressure hits. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my video, you can
always help me out by just pressing the like button and subscribing to my channel, which
I am will be grateful for. But yeah, thanks for watching my video and
see you next time…
