rachel hollis was a mom and party planner who launched a blog that rose to massive success after a photo of her sharing her stretch marks went viral she was hailed as brave by the media grew a massive following and launched a life coaching business and fitness app suddenly women everywhere wanted to know how rachel hollis became the lifestyle influencer and business extraordinaire five [Music] she had charisma wealth success two best sellers a doting husband and even a movie about her life in select theaters at the pinnacle of her career she sold out conferences and marriage retreats and was known around the world and then [Music] it all came crashing down today we're going to look at how rachel hollis went from victor to villain and became one of the most hated women online this is the rise and fall of rachel hollis [Music] [Music] [Music] rachel hollis was born in 1983 and grew up the daughter of a pentecostal preacher man two hours north of l.a in a tiny californian town called weed patch population 2394. rachel was the baby of four children and life was strict in an episode from the jesus calling podcast from 2019 rachel recalls that as the baby of the family she was oftentimes attention seeking and learned to get attention through performing rachel went on to mention how she didn't know there were other kinds of people because her pentecostal lifestyle was very homogeneous everybody around her was just like her with the same education skin color and background rachel said that after moving to la she realized everyone is different but we'll dive into whether she truly realized that or not later on mom fashion i get up every day at 5am and it sucks and the truth is that we all get the same 24 hours oprah has the same 24 hours and beyonce and paralympians and that mom you know that has six pack abs even though she has four kids we all get those same hours so you have to decide if your dreams are worth losing some sleep rachel graduated high school early at age 17 and immediately moved to sunny los angeles but being as she was so young her mom had to sign the lease on her apartment rachel enrolled in acting school where her biggest goal in life was to be a professional actress but until hollywood came calling she worked as a part-time assistant in the afternoon after school until one day she was offered a full-time job at a production company she excitedly quit school and took the job but in her book girl stop apologizing rachel wrote about an emotionally abusive relationship she endured after taking this job she writes quote i dated this older man i was essentially his booty call for months and months he was bothered when i referred to myself as his girlfriend he entirely treated me like crap and really obliterated my worth as a human being so i dumped him then she continues leaving him was exactly the wake up call he needed to grow up and see me for the worthy valuable woman i am next thing i know he's shown up on my front doorstep and we're giving our relationship another go and this time it worked out unquote who was that emotional abuser introducing dave hollis i'm dave we didn't set that up well well yeah it's fine emotional abuse is a horrible thing to go through that can affect someone for years if not permanently and what's worse is promoting that abusive relationship to millions of readers under the guise of fairy tale thinking what rachel was initially saying to her large audience is it's never too late you should endure that abuse because maybe one day if you believe in yourself enough you can fix this guy this may be one of the first times rachel promotes toxic positivity to the masses but it won't be the last dave hollis went on to do very well for himself he spent 17 years building his dream career and at the height of his success he worked for disney as president of worldwide distribution he helped launch several box office successes like black panther which grows the second best four day opening ever bringing in 241 million dollars and star wars the force awakens which brought in 288 million dollars during its opening at the box office before that dave helped 2010's alice in wonderland become only the sixth movie ever to gross one billion dollars worldwide before disney he was a tour manager for columbia records and toured with destiny's child for a full year while dave was busy making waves in hollywood rachel quit her job to launch a party planning business and blog called the chic site and wrote a fiction book called party girl rachel reported her blog brought in 600 000 people a month and in a 2014 interview rachel stated she threw parties for bradley cooper cuba gooding jr al gore jennifer love hewitt rachel and dave had four children thriving careers got to attend red carpet oscar parties with the rich and famous and rachel was able to get her lifestyle and the start of her business provided for her by her disney executive husband while having a nanny and a housekeeper from the outside looking in it appeared as if the hollises had it all [Music] rachel and dave founded the hollis company in 2018 with a subscription-based online coaching service called start today and only one year later the hollis company was bringing in 20 million dollars in revenue after the success of her best sellers rachel monetized everything she touched from her own line of journals and planners sold at target to a clothing line sold on qvc and then there were the multi-level marketing conferences where it's reported she was paid 150 000 to 300 000 per event in speaker's fees but this wasn't viewed as privilege in rachel's eyes hollis is consistent in preaching to her mainly white christian middle class and mlm loving audience that hard work and a hustle mentality are all one needs to be successful in life forget systemic issues higher disease rates in marginalized groups of people due to lack of health care or the real world obstacles many people especially women face in everyday life in hollis world all you need is a positive mindset a journal and planner to help you organize many of which she sells herself some tough love and a hustle mentality i just i wanted to go on this little rant real quick before i go into the office i don't want to sit in my office and do this because i don't want the staff to hear me like yelling at a camera you guys but i saw this thing on pinterest what it says what this pin this pin that had been pinned thousands and thousands of times was sometimes it's okay if the only thing you did today was breathe i gotta talk about it and i i run the risk of super offending people who that pinnable resonates with but here's the deal you guys whatever you believe is true is true when you were a little girl or when you were a little boy you likely if you're like most kids you believe that there was a magical man who lived in the snow who could see if you were good who could see if you were bad and one night of the year he brought you presents based on his knowledge of you he brought those presents because he was flown around in a sleigh by magical reindeer and then he fit himself down your chimney or through your window or up a stove pipe or something and he brought you gifts you used to believe that when you were little that was your truth so if you fill your pinterest boards and if you fill your mind and you fill your computer or you put on your bulletin board crap like that that becomes your truth screw that noise you are capable of whatever you think you are capable of and my guess is that the people who are putting all i could do today was breathe on their pinterest board are not people who have lost a child are not people who are fighting cancer their people i'm gonna get myself in trouble but there are people who want an excuse for why they didn't chase the thing they want an excuse for why they keep giving up they want to tell themselves they want to encourage themselves that this life is so freaking hard that there are some days where i can't do anything that is a lie hustle culture is something that's promoted by life coaches and influencers across all social media hustle culture is relentless stage capitalism rebranded as good for you it promotes long work nights and lack of sleep but hey at least you can show the online world what a boss you are hustle culture perpetuates the myth that as long as you have an unhealthy obsession for striving paired with non-stop positivity you too can have it all but just like a multi-level marketing company hustle culture only helps those at the top and rachel has been pulling unsuspecting women from the bottom of her monetized mountain into the toxic climb of hustle culture for many years all while telling them they can be as successful as she is if they just believe in themselves in a chapter from girl wash your face hollis wrote of her obsession of buying a louis vuitton bag she wrote i wanted it because it represented the kind of woman i dreamed of becoming she wrote that the day she received her first ten thousand dollar consulting check she drove to the louis vuitton store at the beverly center and walked out with her bag hollis also stated she has a goal of owning a vacation home in hawaii by the time she's 40 and only three months after her book was published hollis uploaded a video to her youtube channel titled say hello to dave's new bronco where the couple wowed their audience with images and video of a custom-built 69 bronco under the video comments were turned off in this next chapter we're going to take a look at the prosperity gospel which is glorified by mega church pastors multi-level marketing companies and lifestyle influencers such as hollis herself [Music] louisiana televangelist is asking his followers for donations to buy a 54 million dollar private jet we want that 7x we're believing god for it in a video posted to his website last week televangelist jesse duplantis says god told him he needs the new falcon 7x jet that if jesus was physically on the earth today he wouldn't be riding a donkey think about that for a minute duplantis is not the first minister to preach the gospel of private flying if i want to believe god for a 65 million dollar plane you cannot stop me in 2015 creflo dollar asked his suburban atlanta congregation for a new gulfstream g650 his ministry settled for a used one father we thank you sir and this past january texas based televangelist kenneth copeland announced the blessing of a new multi-million dollar gulfstream five copeland and duplantis both defended using private jets in 2015. the world is in such a shape we can't get there without this sunday morning i was in boston massachusetts monday i was in new orleans tuesday i was in chicago the prosperity gospel is a branch of protestant christianity it's been rapidly on the rise thanks to social media and is of the idea that god will grant a person all of their hearts earthly desires through unwavering faith and hard work basically it promises a one-way ticket to the good life if you just believe the prosperity gospel was created in 1946 by five pentecostal men and was known as the healing revivals which later became popularized in the 1950s thanks to an appliance known as the television set the healing revivals launched a religious movement something we now know as televangelism after almost a decade of success many televangelists fell out of favor with their audiences this was due to the saturation of evangelists straining the financial resources of pentecostal churches and there was a sharp decline in the healing revivals and televangelists by 1960. local churches just couldn't afford to keep up with the evangelists fundraising methods and there was controversy brewing between churches and evangelists many churches felt the evangelists were too sensationalized and greedy the assemblies of god was the first known church organization to pull out of hosting the healing revivals and many churches followed soon after televangelism didn't become popular again until the 1980s when televangelists forged a controversial coalition that provided religious and political support for a former radio broadcaster and movie star who was running for president his name was ronald reagan and he invented the now defunct economic theory known as trickle-down economics suddenly people like jim and tammy faye baker were idolized around the world and televangelism and mega-churches continued to grow at unprecedented levels leaders of the prosperity gospel for which there are many believe their multi-million dollar homes fancy cars and private jets are evidence of god's love and believers are quick to grab on to the idea that they too can be blessed some want riches others want healing from physical traumas and some are pleading for a little bit of reassurance that life will get better for them people follow buy the merch put those once in a lifetime annual conference tickets on credit and if they're really lucky they may get a picture with their spiritual icon or influencer but underneath this polished holy exterior that promises a solution lies a dark truth you will always be at fault for whatever you didn't receive it's the sacred science that says you need to do everything this way but no one can ever do it perfect enough those who receive a blessing whether that's a job promotion a new partner or 1.6 million followers and a bestseller believe it to be a certainty in god's plan and reward for their life but those who struggle along the way they must not be doing something right maybe it's a negative mindset or they need to give more to whatever cause they deem worthy enough to prove their faith and devotion this dogma is dangerous and can lead people down a path of self-loathing and despair but this type of message is what hollis promotes in everything she does newer research shows the prosperity gospel isn't healthy for us the university of toronto's department of psychology found that exposure to prosperity gospel messaging makes you more likely to show an exaggerated and unrealistic sense of optimism for life and take more financial risks because it primes people to want to part with their money by making them excited and optimistic about the future maybe this is why mega church pastors multi-level marketing companies influencers and self-help gurus love to teach it hollis's best seller girl wash your face was released in february of 2018 by a christian content publisher and had a spot on the top 10 best-selling books in the u.s for over seven months while selling almost 900 000 copies the book did well in the south and midwest and the washington post characterized hollis as goop for red state women rachel started out as the relatable christian mom who didn't have it all figured out but accepted herself anyway and she turned that persona into a multi-million dollar brand but beneath the sparkly facade of her well-curated instagram filled with manufactured authenticity there were clues about the toxic beliefs hollis held on her rise to the top [Music] okay in no particular order the first thing that helped me to get healthy was a physical challenge okay not like double dare also anyone else 37 and no would have talked never mind okay like seven of you got my joke and the rest think i'm weird that's fine i'm kind of weird in girl wash your face hollis shows her fat phobic side and shames people who can't stay on a diet as she tells her reader not to trust or respect those people it's quite shocking to read somebody claim another person's food cravings and or health problems are a moral failure but hollis is adamant in comparing the friend who can't stay on a diet to the friend who constantly blows you off for stupid reasons hello women's health i'm rachel hollis and today i'm going to give you a peek inside my fridge [Music] this is pretty interesting this is probably not in most people's fridge so this is supposed to be for produce it's actually for champagne i get balls of really nice champagne and then i put my goals for the future hollis also shared in her book about going through a difficult adoption process with two children before she and dave adopted their daughter noah because of the stress she felt rachel wrote she began drinking more and that quote vodka was my co-pilot and i was grateful for its presence in my life unquote hollis openly shares about her struggle with alcohol and xanax evoking sympathy from her reader but when speaking about the birth parents of the children she thought she would adopt she wrote how do you keep taking babies to see parents who aren't parenting how do you give up half a saturday to wait in a mcdonald's playland for addicts who may or may not show up then hand over an innocent baby and watch them erase whatever progress you've made with their daughter it's as if hollis wants the reader to believe that although she was abusing alcohol and prescription medication she is the good one but addicts can have no background that might deem them worthy of empathy from her in january of 2019 buzzfeed news was the first large platform to publicly call out hollis for plagiarism hollis constantly reproduced quotes on her social media which resulted in numerous plagiarism accusations probably the most famous being from dr maya angelou but she also stole the writing of robin sharma john acuff tim hiller tim ferriss deborah condren and pulitzer prize winner charles duhigg who wrote the power of habit and many more buzzfeed reached out to hollis for comment but she never responded it was noted by buzzfeed that some of the posts they pointed out to hollis were shortly removed from her instagram after not only that but hollis's second best seller titled girl stop apologizing sounds almost exactly like the book hey ladies stop apologizing which was written three years earlier by author and professor maya jovanovic shown here on her social media hollis posted the image of a heart and apologized for plagiarizing maya angelou without credit and wrote quote this morning i found out that my social team posted a graphic on my instagram yesterday that said still i rise that is obviously an immortal line from a maya angelou poem only no credit was given to her i immediately deleted the post but i want to make sure and publicly apologize while i didn't create or post the graphic i am the leader of the team that did and so i accept full responsibility for their actions unquote other than this one apology in which hollis blames her team the mounting pile of plagiarism accusations against her has never been addressed even though it has been pointed out by social media users and in numerous articles outside of their motivational conferences that include vigorous jumping and dancing dave and rachel launched and monetized a podcast called rise together where they shared helpful tips for entrepreneurs and couples really the idea of a question that we feel like everybody in a romantic relationship needs to ask themselves and needs to ask themselves pretty regularly which is are we growing are we growing together are we growing more in love are we better off now than we were a year ago or are we dying because any living thing is one of those two things you can't be in the middle you can't you're either growing or you're dying an animal grass humans are either growing or they're dying so what does your relationship look like right now are you more in love with your partner than you were a year ago listen to that clip don't i is i feel like i just listen to myself in seventh grade like my voice is like oh this is before you went through puberty you've become a woman i've become a woman finally yeah i'm so glad also we recorded that on the floor of our i know closet it's so funny i like flashback to being on the floor of the closet such a weird thing it's such a weird thing it feels like if you if you go back 18 months in our relationship i think oh so an interesting thing is that you we cannot talk about our relationship today without talking about the business because the business is like this third part of our relationship there's me there's dave there's the hollis company and it is such a massive part of our life and because so much of our life now is wrapped up in taking care of the business growing the business scaling the business leading this team it's become this like like what is it called paul what is it called when a couple there's like three people in a couple polyamorous hollywood which is what i thought but then i thought i was making up that term i was gonna say a recipe for an affair leading to divorce but continue but i feel like that it is this third thing and if even hearing that clip from a year and a half ago i'm like gosh the biggest concern that those two fools had was making sure that there was an episode of rise together that week ah bless you know what i mean and think of how hard that felt at the time and now i'm like oh you you silly dumb child you have no idea this is where things would take an interesting turn dave and rachel went on to hold weekend marriage conferences called rise together which cost couples eighteen hundred dollars per ticket but did not include food lodging or travel expenses their itinerary included topics such as communicating effectively planning for success romance and intimacy finance children in-laws hard seasons and infidelity the hollis company stated only 200 couples would be allowed to attend as they wanted to create an intimate setting dave hollis has a degree in organizational communication and rachel has a high school diploma neither are psychologists or licensed counselors from the outside looking in it seemed as if this monetized power couple had it all they had money fame charisma and a happy family or is that just what they were selling by 2020 the millionaire s life coach began to take on a new tone it was reported that at a hollis company leadership summit held that year rachel stated to their team quote i am so rich i could just retire to hawaii and never work a day again that's how wealthy i am unquote hollis was attempting to imply that she doesn't have to work this hard as she does and the fact that she could quit tomorrow should show how passionate she is about her work and at another conference that same year hollis allegedly bragged to her fans about her popularity and how much influence she had over them with two people from that conference recalling that hollis told the audience i own you in this next part of the video we're going to take a look at what happens when a brand built on toxic positivity is met with real world conflict this matters because there are a few key events that happened around the time rachel hollis is following began to turn on her [Music] your husband your partner your wife your mama your sister your best friend who doesn't get it doesn't need to this is on you can you carry on that's what this comes down to can you carry on in the face of opposition can you keep going even when it's hard on april 30th of 2020 rachel posted an instagram quote that said today on the podcast dave hollis and i are talking about how quarantine has affected our makeout sessions yes we went there if you're in a relationship the rise together podcast is just for you on may 22nd of 2020 rachel post a video stating that although she knows she's privileged she misses the world and wants to get out this would be the last video rachel would post for two months on may 23 of 2020 rachel posts about setting an example for her children through her brand and not letting the haters get in the way over the years as she was a ceo and working mom at the end of this post she plugs her brand of journals and planners to help people reach their goals two days later on may 25th of 2020 george floyd was brutally killed in the street by a police officer there was a collective uproar heard around the world and for what seemed like the first time in the history of social media people started to majorly take note scrutinize and call out the beliefs of who they followed online especially those in the wellness christian and motivational industries were there gurus really empathetic towards mankind or was it all a ruse for clicks and follows instead of playing as both sides nonsense were these motivational influencers now going to speak out against racism instead of mantras and motivational quotes that give you a vague idea of what their beliefs may be were these blue check marks now going to finally put their foot down and stand against something followers were asking hollis to speak up they wanted to know why wasn't she using her platform to speak out on such a giant issue [Music] rachel who normally posted daily stayed silent for five more days until she shared a picture of her black friend and that woman's black father she shared her friend's post and let her have a voice on rachel's platform in that moment which was all well and good yet people continued to call out hollis for her silence on the matter yes it's important to elevate black voices but as somebody who has plagiarized the words of dr maya angelou and many other people of color rachel's own silence was deafening and many of the comments on that post told her as much the next day on june 1st rachel finally makes a post addressing george floyd and systemic racism and while it was praised by some many of her conservative and evangelical followers let her know they weren't happy she was talking about such a thing as they sided with a police officer who would later be found guilty and convicted on the flip side people of color were telling her she still hadn't done enough this was a pivotal moment in the career of rachel hollis when met with scrutiny in the past all rachel had to do was apologize and remove an instagram post but there were many things rachel did not apologize for and was never held accountable for by her massive following nor did she take accountability for she got away with this because of her privilege but after years of getting away with wrongdoing hollis wasn't able to hide from this the same day she made a post about george floyd and systemic racism trump had tear gas peaceful protesters in lafayette square something the world witnessed on video with our own eyes people around the globe were furious and it seemed like the internet was no longer going to be forgiving of a white woman guru stealing the words of black authors and people of color in the middle of the biggest civil rights movement since the 1960s and this is where hollis decided to stand up and take accountability in her next post she apologized for all the work she stole from people of color apologized for not listening sooner promised to do better and donated large sums of her multi-million dollar fortune to non-profits that benefited black and brown communities and hollis continued to use her platform for good regularly urging her followers to do better do more and speak up for those whose voices weren't heard it really looked like she was becoming self-aware and influencing the self-help industry as a whole to actually help others instead of just preaching happy nonsense while pretending their privilege didn't exist a new day was on the horizon [Music] just kidding none of that happened holla stayed silent for seven more days and then dropped a bombshell that would go on to devastate her career even more on june 7th repurposing an image she had posted that spring hollis wrote guys i have some hard news to share and the honest truth is i have no idea how someone announces something like this so i'm just going to say it dave and i have made the incredibly difficult decision to end our marriage she went on to write we have worked endlessly over the last three years to make this work and have come to the conclusion that is healthier and more respectful for us to choose this as the end of our journey as a married couple could it be that rachel's post about the divorce was made in the wake of the george floyd tragedy and the civil rights movement so she wouldn't have to take accountability for things she was being accused of when it came to profiting off the stolen work of black indigenous and people of color could it also be that she wouldn't have to further upset her christian publisher and her conservative and evangelical followers by speaking up for marginalized groups it's speculation but if that were the case posting about her divorce was a clever strategy because it absolved her from having to deal with or talk about the civil rights movement to her large platform that was questioning her integrity what isn't speculation is that rachel hollis does not like to be held accountable history has proven that many times hollis has publicly blamed members of her team for her plagiarism or stayed silent but now in the face of her tragic divorce she could take a break unquestioned and not have to speak out on the real world events her millions of followers were experiencing once she was ready or after things died down hollis could easily come back and continue to share love and light in true influencer fashion and that's exactly what she did hollis came back on july 17th crying in a video to her following how she's had a hard week in a tough season then something interesting happened on july 26th dave hollis made a post where he shared a picture from their 16th wedding anniversary and told his following of nearly 500 000 that it was rachel who asked for the divorce he divulged rey told him that she didn't want to be married anymore and that they could only become the people they were meant to be apart he admits to being embarrassed and that after not having a drink for over a year he reached for alcohol to cope he goes on to talk about the bible his faith and their children was this post made to share his authentic feelings or did dave hollis who was the ceo of the hollis company strategically released this post one day before rachel announced the launch of her newest book we may never know like many influencers who post videos of themselves crying about something they've deemed hurtful rachel was immediately back to selling again only two posts after the video where she cried one day after dave's post admitting it was she who asked for the divorce rachel was promoting her brand new book didn't see that coming the comment section was not kind to her remember those multi-level marketing pyramid schemes hollis spoke at those companies that paid hollis around 150 000 at 300 000 per speaking gig after years of promoting her brand to men and women in multi-level marketing and publicly thanking them for buying her products hollis then called them well dumb in her book on page 146 after talking about how her party planning company survived the 2008 collapse by just working harder with no mention of privilege or a wealthy husband or a housekeeper hollis gives the reader advice on finding additional revenue for their family basic advice such as research it hit up google ask youtube for help and she wrote quote i'm positive someone is going to read this and be inspired to head on over to the internet and ask how she should make extra income and then four weeks later her starter kit has arrived for the new at home business she just paid seven hundred dollars to join don't be dumb figure out ways to make money that don't require money yet again hollis faced another public outcry all the men and mainly women in multi-level marketing who followed her who bought her merch went to her events and saw her speak at their mlm conferences now felt even more betrayed by their self-help guru which hollis chose to never address and that problematic behavior continued into 2021 as dave moved on and posted pictures with his new girlfriend rachel continued her outlandish behavior in february of 2021 after rachel had unfollowed dave on instagram he made a desperate post asking his followers to treat rachel kindly because one day their children would read the instagram comments about their mother and he stated he's team rachel on april 1st of 2021 hollis posted a now deleted video on social media she thought would be empowering it was probably the biggest catalyst for her downfall okay yesterday i was doing a live stream and i mentioned that there's a sweet woman who comes to my house twice a week and cleans she's my my house cleaner she cleans the toilets someone commented and said you are privileged af and i was like you're right i'm super freaking privileged but also i worked my ass off to have the money to have someone come twice a week and clean my toilets and i told her that and then she said well you're unrelatable [Music] what is it about me that made you think i want to be relatable gnosis literally everything i do in my life is to live a life that most people can't relate to most people won't work this hard most people won't get up at 4 am most people won't fail publicly again and again just to reach the top of the mountain literally every woman i admire in history was unrelatable if my life is relatable to most people i'm doing it wrong her caption mentions some of the greatest women in history and she stated how unrelatable they are seemingly implying she was like them by being wealthy and hiring someone to clean her toilets to many of her followers the post appeared awkward at best and racist at worst comparing yourself to harriet tubman who escaped from slavery and helped many other slaves escape through the underground railroad is not the same as posting inspirational quotes on instagram getting shot in the face like malala yousafza because she believed that girls should have access to education is not the same as writing a bestseller from your mansion becoming the second female to sit on the highest court in the nation and co-founding the aclu's women's rights project like ruth bader ginsburg did is not the same as having a motivational fitness app the backlash from this video was swift yet hollis didn't delete the video for four more days she then issued an apology that came across as insensitive and uncaring then deleted that apology and the comments from activists educating her about her mistake and then issued a more pc apology once again hollis pulled away from the platform she was receiving the most backlash on but continued posting weekly podcast episodes on how to become the person of your dreams how to be productive interviews with celebrities and her most embarrassing first kiss she also rescheduled her annual conference after several of her guest speakers dropped out not long after this scandal kelly clarkson deleted a post on her instagram promoting an interview she did with hollis on the kelly clarkson show then in a bigger blow to the hollis brand suddenly her products were no longer available at target it appears the only hollis product still sold in target is a book by dave hollis is rachel hollis misunderstood does she just have bad luck or is she a performance activist with narcissistic traits who talks about gratitude and acceptance while spreading a dark message to women everywhere in this next chapter we're going to take a look at rachel's recent strange behavior and attempted comeback some might be surprised she's trying to come back so soon but she's got conference tickets to sell [Music] oh she's cute i feel like i'm not a regular mom i'm a cool mom 38 years old like vibing out to this child okay can we have a minute can we have a minute here's what i'm wondering she says you didn't meet you didn't me oh god it's beautiful that voice of mine who is this about is this about a celebrity honey honey you are not gonna remember this ugly boy five years from now and the blonde girl she's gonna end up working at joey's rachel hollis is back and attempting to be relatable again in a recent video on her youtube channel she talks about her first kiss since ending her marriage goes into a lot of detail and seems to attempt to capitalize on her recent divorce in another one of her most recent youtube videos hollis hit the like to dislike ratio mentioned she was wearing ivy park beyonce's brand and showed her underwear several times i want to make it clear this channel supports men and women wearing whatever they feel comfortable in but it's hard not to notice how off-brand this behavior seems for hollis who is usually pretty conservative with a conservative base in my opinion rachel hollis isn't just emotionally immature but i believe her message to be dangerous not only is plagiarism a serious offense but hollis promotes honesty while skewing accountability she's been paid millions by industries she later shuns without any explanation as to why when people of color have tried to educate her and her following something they didn't have to take the time to do hollis has been known to delete their comments during controversy hollis never hesitates to blame her employees and then manipulates her followers with a sob story or uses her children as a distraction she promotes authenticity while having people pay thousands of dollars to attend her marriage retreats while knowing her marriage is unhealthy hollis claims to be grateful and humble while looking down on those she feels are beneath her such as people who are overweight people who abuse substances and those who clean houses and do service work work that is mostly done by women of color she promotes relatability and transparency claiming anyone can do what she did if they only have a positive attitude and work hard but the truth is hollis built a brand while having a housekeeper a nanny and a wealthy husband who funded her business until it was profitable i do wonder if rachel still carries some of her upbringing with her and if she has unpacked who rachel really is instead of having to be what she feels will bring her money and fame or maybe she only cares for the things that will bring her money and fame i do believe in second chances but only after someone has taken massive accountability and learned their lesson and made real amends it appears as if rachel hollis will continue being the person that got her to where she is now as best she can but her brand might not be able to rebound in my opinion both dave and rachel hollis present nothing more than manufactured authenticity and performative relatability this has been the story on the rise and fall of rachel hollis a lifestyle guru who seemed to have everything going for her she had money success and was adored by many it's a cautionary tale that warns we shouldn't believe everything we see in here and that the happy and highly curated images we see online don't show the full picture as we never know what goes on behind closed doors if you are a fan of learning about scams cults and cautionary tales be sure to like and subscribe for future content like this to be recommended to you thanks for watching my name is josie and i hope
