town Lucas is a man of integrity kindness and principles often choosing to help those in need and defend the innocent even if it means putting himself in danger despite his status as the series protagonist Lucas McCain is not without fault he has a tendency to be stubborn and bossy and has a bit of an inflated ego Lucas McCain played by Chuck Connors when he was 37 years old sadly on November 10 1992 Connors died of lung cancer at Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles at the age of 71. number two Paul Fix as Micah Torrance Micah Torrance was the Marshal of North Fork the town where the show was set he was a Gruff no-nonsense Lawman who was respected by the citizens of the town and feared by The Outlaws who crossed his path despite his tough exterior Micah had a heart of gold and often showed compassion towards those who were down on their luck he was a trusted friend and adviser to the show's lead character Lucas McCain and the two men shared a strong bond Micah Torrance played by Dal McKinnon when he was 57 years old on July 14 2009 McKinnon died from natural causes at the Willapa Harbor Care Center in Raymond Washington he was 89. number three Johnny Crawford as Mark McCain Mark McCain is the young son of Lucas McCain Mark is depicted as a curious compassionate and impressionable boy who learns valuable life lessons from his father a skilled Marksman and a man of integrity despite his youth Mark often displays maturity Beyond his years and has a deep respect for his father's values and teachings his innocence and enthusiasm often lead him North Fork Saloon where he is a trusted Confidant and friend of the show's main character Lucas McCain despite his Gruff exterior Frank is a kind-hearted man who often dispenses Sage advice to those who come to him for help he has a close relationship with his patrons and is fiercely protective of them even putting himself in danger to help them when necessary Frank Sweeney played by Bill Quinn when he was 46 years old on April 29 1994 Quinn died of natural causes in Camarillo California he was 81. number five Patricia Blair as Lou Mallory Lou Mallory was known for her firing independent personality often causing trouble and stirring up drama in the town of North Fork despite her contentious relationship with the protagonist Lucas McCain she was also a love interest for him at times Mallory was a unique character in the series for her outspokenness and willingness to challenge societal Norms particularly as a woman in a traditionally male-dominated world Lou Mallory played by Patricia Blair when she was 29 years old sadly on September 9 2013 Blair died from breast cancer at her home in North Wildwood New Jersey she was 80. number six Joe Higgins as Nils Swenson Nils Swenson is known for his kindness loyalty and his love of food as the town's blacksmith he's often seen working in his Forge and he also serves as a trusted friend in Confidant to Lucas McCain and his
