[Music] the Magnificent A380 is Big stable and spacious it is the largest commercial aircraft ever built if you survey flyers on their favorite aircraft the A380 will come out on top passengers appreciate the amount of room and convenience it provides some people like it because it has enough lavatories for the over 500 passengers it can transport in a single liftoff the first session is excellent but it is not recommended for anyone with a middle class income people don't seem to mind because regular economy class is typically as good as business class on some planes albeit with less privacy at its peak of strength however Airline owners despise it for the same reason passengers adore it to own a profit they'd rather offer passengers cramped planes the A380 has been grounded and the same carriers that once despised it now want the plane back in service what has changed one thing the airline Executives adore is the money they get to earn but that isn't a problem unless they would rather enjoy at the expense of the average passenger's Comfort the A380 has a large aircraft provides significantly more luxury than the 160-seater narrow body aircraft with two engines that carriers are more interested in it makes sense given the economics but it will always have an impact on consumers when the Hub and spoke model was at its peak Airlines could fill the largest aircraft to the brim with passengers as they flew from one packed Hub to another and back and Airlines earned a lot of money on every trip the double decker jumbo flight was packed with all kinds of Passenger Comfort making it a Top Choice with Airlines like Emirates who were able to offer competitive prices along long hauled travel routes effectively putting some of their competitors out of business along the Route with excellent Hospitality on board the A380 and other aircraft in their Fleet the use of the A380 fizzled out primarily during the coronavirus period with a major strain placed on air travel many airlines grounded their a380s permanently or temporarily in favor of smaller aircraft like the a350s and the 787 while the Dreamliner is not an overly terrible aircraft it lacks the space and comfort that the A380 offers and is cramped in every class except Business Class A Nightmare of some sort the choice of the Dreamliner makes sense considering that it is valued by Airlines as being the next best thing in terms of comparative economics even better than the A380 while the services of the a380s were shut down many 787 Dreamliners took to the air worldwide and rates in the profits when the a380s failed a wise decision considering there wasn't always a full airport to service in A380 in the few hubs where its services were required in 2020 2021 Emirates Air suffered a significant loss as they could not fully retire their a380s in the year even while operating the likes of the 787s among other aircraft types just to keep the books balanced the a380s were the least profitable of the aircraft in this window but Emirates sure had a point to prove despite other airlines like Qantas and British Airways putting a pin on using their a380s and even canceling orders for new ones Airbus the A380 manufacturer was shaken by the inherent decline in orders and as such put a full stop to the production of the airlines the reason is that if there were not enough passengers to fill these giant planes to bring the airlines profit every time they flew Airlines would not buy them and it would be counterproductive to keep making them there was absolutely nothing passengers could do about it either as they had to make do with what their local and International Airlines offered them toward their destinations now with the gradual Return of the a380s following the market recovery it is beginning to make sense for aircraft that have the a230 actually to use them airlines are beginning to see a downside to their wild Embrace of smaller aircraft despite how economical they seem in their day-to-day flights now the aviation activities have resumed steadily since 2022 the smaller aircraft have cost them more in terms of personnel a single A380 could carry as many passengers as three different 160-seater aircraft in a single flight and with nearly the same number of crew members but with greater efforts made available to serve the passengers better its return for long-haul travel takes the buck off using more crew for the smaller aircraft on Long Journeys instead of concentrating them on shorter flight routes they could also recall some of their A380 crew members that had been laid off in the aftermath of the decline in air travel to pick up on serving aboard the a380s the A380 could solve the increasing challenge Airlines face with the rising demand for air travel leading to airport congestion usually they could line up as many small aircraft as possible to fly people to their destinations still with some airports retaining their small compact nature there would never be enough room to have small aircraft carry passengers fast enough passengers would be exposed to many inconsistencies like flight delays postponements and outright cancellations a bigger aircraft like the A380 solves this problem with its massive capacity the demand for air travel under this pressure can best be met by bigger aircraft well besides having a densely packed terminal some airports are considered too small to accommodate a super jumbo like the A380 that has always been a problem that airliners have had with the A380 as it limits the options of destinations they can use the aircraft airliners will have little to worry about that considering the possible review of the safety standards of some of the crampy class seating offered by aircraft that do not adore the a380s if an agency like the FAA requires that the economy class cabin has wider seats and ultimately more leg room this will influence Airlines to consider switching to bigger airplanes the aircraft also has a shorter Runway requirement for takeoff powered by its four relatively quiet engines which is surprising considering its sheer size a new and improved version of the aircraft is being mulled over by Airlines and proposals have been put forward by Emirates to try to woo Airbus into making a remodeled version with newer materials of the A380 with the promise of making more money from a rather large order book and they might be able to make the newer version more economical and fuel efficient than the earlier version the A380 has greatly impacted the Airbus brand among other installations like the a350 the visibility they have enjoyed with passengers is amazing and has sparked tremendous interest in their aircraft that being demand must boom significantly for Airlines to again dig through their purses and sign off their checks to pay Airbus and with the demand comes interest to offer passengers some sucker by not squeezing them into smaller spaces like sardines or a herd of cattle that is not to undermine the tendency of some airlines not to care about what the customers want though airliners do not necessarily see themselves succeeding by centering on customer service and satisfaction this is a problem as we saw with Qantas Airlines the Australian Airline doesn't seem to mind that the A3 AC seems more suited for passengers across large distances to many popular Australian destinations but would rather opt for the more economical flights along those routes even at the expense of Passenger comfort airlines are likely going to prefer to use an a350 than the A380 it costs about 22 000 Euros an hour to fly an A380 in 2022 while it costs around 9 000 Euros an hour to fly the a350 in Australia Airlines prefer to work with two a350s at lower operating costs than a single A380 but taking passenger interest into context consistently flying seems to be a good marketing strategy a luxurious advert image of some sort any airline that wants to improve its image will choose whether to work with the A380 another incredible Factor crediting the choice of Airlines to reintroduce the a380s is the fact that Boeing 747 cessation must have something to do with it if Airlines no longer fly the aircraft they would opt for another aircraft to handle the routes the flights used to navigate ultimately it becomes clearer that more money should be made using a380s against smaller aircraft with more seats especially in higher number routes such routes include London to La where the profits will credit to the 25 years Airbus have spent to make the A380 the largest and safest passenger aircraft in the skies it makes its track record hard to beat for other Boeing aircraft as it has not had one crash or catastrophic accidents since the first prototype took to the air you could fly an A380 for 15 plus hours and not feel a cramp Emirates stands out as the airline with the most efficient use of this aircraft and with them back in profits it is understandable why they are the most excited airline to have the a380s once more gracing the sky they own more than 110 units of the A380 and will be more than happy to welcome the growing demand experts think the comeback may not be as comprehensive for the airlines if Airbus fails to make any more of them when larger airplanes like this reach the end of their production cycles for whatever reason manufacturers tend to divert their resources towards other projects it would take even greater expense to set up for reproduction which Airbus might not be willing to attempt considering the airlines may not want to buy it at a more expensive rate the existing a380s would still be around for the next 25 to 30 years with proper maintenance and we don't know if this would be enough to meet the demand for air travel as the industry continues to grow the future is blurry on this end but regarding the restoration of A380 fleets Emirates has restored more than 50 percent of its grounded flights While others like Qantas struggle Qantas and Lufthansa had initially grounded their A3 Aces permanently following what seemed like a total shift to point-to-point travel favoring smaller aircraft however as things change Lufthansa has gone ahead to bring back some of their a380s Qantas is experiencing its own setbacks with the maintenance repair and overhaul Services as fast as they expect with their abject rejection of the aircraft they cannot completely restore the super jumbos until early 2025 as stated in a publication the Australian Aviation Market is back in full swing the airline is trying hard to contend with passengers capacity demands with only six of their original fleets of a380s inactive service they do not have enough maintenance facilities to work with that has been the case since before the pandemic with many airlines running ahead of them to have their a380s functioning in Peak condition they are racing against time to delegate all their a380s to two maintenance facilities on a 30 million dollar budget a big mess this is as the two mro facilities they rely on are being poached by other giant Airlines like Etihad Airways a strong competitor who plans to restore its 10 strong A380 Fleet how this will affect qantas's competitiveness before its two-year timeline remains to be seen but they will most likely rely on other competitive Alternatives along with the small number of a380s they have been able to return for now the Airbus a350s seem like an adequate aircraft to fill the Gap while not exactly
