everybody else needs to know what's going on  they've got their cameras out well I did expect   Prague to be busy but this is unbelievable so  as promised the crowd went from a couple dozen   people to easily a few hundred standing here  so Prague is famous for a few things there's   all the incredible architecture there are the  ICONic attractions like the Charles bridge and   the astronomical clock there's the beer  can't come to Prague without enjoying a   pine and of course there are the crowds just  a shocking number of tourists we were hoping   that by coming to Prague in early may we would  be avoiding the Victoria season but we also knew   that this city is busy pretty much year round  I mean Prague is a major draw so those of you   who follow us know that we're slow Travelers  we usually stay in a city for a whole month   well this time our visit's on the shorter side  we've only got a week so we've got to hit the   ground running yeah even though it's only our  first day here we're gonna just jump right in   so we're gonna check out the major sites  we're gonna grab a bite of some of that   very hearty Czech food and of course we're going  to show you where we're staying [Music] foreign tour with a quick look around our neighborhood  we decided to stay in kind of a quiet area of   the city away from the hustle bustle of the  center but actually Prague is such a small   City that we can get anywhere we need to go  in just about a 15 minute walk and I have to   say this morning walk by the river couldn't  be more pleasant okay I think that's quite   enough freezing by the river so let's  go take a look at our apartment [Music]   and it is okay there we go it's hard to  figure out the keys all right guys in we go [Music] so since we're on the fifth floor we were  very happy to see that this place has an elevator   except when we saw the size of it we realized that  it was never going to fit two full-size people two   dogs and two suitcases so we had to kind of  go up one at a time anyway here we go [Music] all right let's go take a look well here we are and it is a really simple  Pleasant apartment so we just love these high   ceilings and the big Windows over here we just  spent almost two months in a basement apartment so   having all of this space and this light is a real  luxury now I do think it's always a struggle for   Airbnb hosts to sort of find that balance between  over decorating a place and under decorating a   place and I think this one is like maybe a little  bit on the under decorated side I mean I could   definitely use you know a couple more pillows on  this couch but I do think it is a very nice space   so this kitchen has most of the appliances  that I like to see I mean I wouldn't mind a   microwave but we can definitely live without  one and basically it's a functional space   totally usable for a week so this bedroom is just  lovely I'm always really happy when I see lots of   white sheets and lots of pillows on the bed it  just looks really clean and really welcoming   so if you've seen our other Airbnb tours you'll  know that we don't always show the bathroom   unless there's something kind of notable  about it and in this case what we have is   I would call a very classic European bathroom  situation so over here we have the shower and   the sink and the washing machine now if you  have to actually use the toilet well do not   come over here because this is just a closet the  toilet is actually this little cubby over here but it is everything we need even  if it isn't all in the same place   so all in all I'm thinking that we landed a  pretty nice base for our week here in Prague   now let's get out there and go see the city  [Music] apparently Springtime in Prague is   just a little too brisk for the pups we had to  bundle them into their little spring coats foreign for anyone watching our channel for the very  first time we'll do some quick intros yeah   so I'm Jillian this is Stephanie and  we've got these two guys here Jasper   and Huxley so the four of us are traveling  the world full time and sharing it all as   we go although honestly I mean these guys don't  contribute much Beyond looking super cute [Music]   so already we can see that Prague is a truly  beautiful city and one of the reasons is that   it was only lightly damaged during World War  II so its historic buildings are largely intact   this means there's architecture from just  about every era and it's perfectly preserved five horses so the city kind of Blends together a little but  I think we're entering old town now and we're just   coming onto the Town Square and the buildings are  just getting more and more magnificent [Music]   oh yes we're definitely entering the  Town Square now so I'm seeing some   Gothic churches I'm seeing beautiful  sculptures and I've seen what I think   will be a bit of a theme today which  are the crowds of tourists [Music]   wow this is a really incredible Town Center so  not only have these buildings been perfectly   preserved just like Julian said I mean some  of them are so ornate they're just magnificent   so I can see that the tour guides are doing a  very healthy business here in the Town Square   just in the few minutes that we've been standing  here I've seen at least a dozen guided groups here   which is quite something for the middle of the  week in early May so we have a very interesting   tradition happening over here this is the site  of one of the star attractions of Prague it's   the astronomical clock which is a clock that  dates back to Medieval times and it rings in   the hour in a somewhat dramatic fashion and the  crowds gather here to watch the ringing in of the   hour and they get quite huge as the minutes count  down so we'll see what it's all about [Music] so as promised the crowd went from a couple dozen  people to easily a few hundred standing here   okay we're counting down two  minutes to go tension is rising   oh it's up to the top it's doing  it's going in and out at the top yeah [Music]   so that was a very Charming display I mean I think  to modernize it seems like a very simple mechanism   but I think you know if you put in the perspective  of medieval times then that would be quite a   novelty there's no television there's no internet  quite sweet I'm glad we stuck around for that so now we're going to do what I think everybody  does after they see the clock we're heading down   to the very famous Charles bridge so this is  an iconic site in Prague I haven't seen it yet   very excited to see it but I'm also expecting  it's going to be a little busy [Music] well now   I'm carrying two dogs because it was just  too many people trampling around [Music]   so we're gonna be reaching the Charles bridge  very soon which is another very famous site   here in Prague dating all the way back to the  Medieval Times foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music]   I can definitely see why this bridge is so popular  it has such an incredible view of the city [Music]   well I thought we had left the old town  behind when we crossed the bridge but this   city just keeps giving and giving so we seem  to be entering more old town it's wonderful this has been a full speed non-stop first day  so if you follow our videos you'll know that   we normally have a very leisurely Pace to our  first few days in the city we're in the place   for a month so we're really not in a hurry wow  that's a huge horn so it looks like something very   interesting is happening right now huge crowd is  warm in here everybody else seems to know what's   going on they've got their cameras out but I  guess we're just gonna have to watch and find out so I'm still not sure exactly what we're looking  at but I'm definitely glad I'm here to see it so normally on our first day we look around  our neighborhood we get stocked up on groceries   maybe you wander down to the park It's  usually the second week before we even   think about going to any attractions at this  point I'm definitely feeling the jet lag and   I'm ready to sit down for a bit so I think  it's time to find something to eat [Music]   so our day one of being tourists has been  rather hungry and thirsty work so we have   come to this wonderful restaurant so we're  starting things off with the pilsner and   apparently the pilsner originates in  the Czech Republic and this one looks   particularly excellent after fighting our way  through the tourist crowds alright so cheers   and we'll give this a try well this looks  magnificent so I very quickly learned that   Czech Cuisine is extremely meat heavy so  I'm having what I would consider to be   like a lighter version these are two absolutely  beautiful looking duck legs they come with some   cabbage which is really a very traditional side  for Czech food and then these wonderful looking   bread dumplings and then there is a gravy which  I must assume just gets slathered over everything   so this is really our first official meal  here in Prague this is gonna be amazing wow so delicious it's a very Savory  very tender duck what a satisfying   lunch I think I really earned  it getting through the crowds   and I'm just gonna sit here enjoy my beer  enjoy my dog and let the afternoon Roll by   so that was an incredible lunch and an amazing  introduction to Czech food which I hope to be   having a lot more of over the next couple weeks  in the meantime we are trying to find our way to   the castle Garden because we thought that would  be a lovely spot to end our first day [Music]   I really feel like I'm in a castle right now all  right let's find our way to the garden [Music]   so we only planned a week in Prague because  we knew that it's a very touristy City and   we thought that probably a week would be more  than enough but actually we've noticed that the   crowds are mainly concentrated in certain areas  yeah musically all the ones that we just visited   yeah obviously there's so much more to discover  once you step away from those top attractions I   would actually say that a week isn't too long this  is a very beautiful city and we could have easily   spent a month for sure that said we're not done  with the Czech Republic yet when this week is over   we're going to be hopping on a train and heading  off to a very beautiful part of the country called   Bohemian Paradise it sounds wonderful sure does  in the meantime we recently just spent a week in   another city didn't we we sure did it's the city  of Cartagena on the coast of Columbia and just   like Prague the city is famous for two things  being very beautiful and also very touristy and   actually there's a third thing being very very  expensive yes for sure so you can take a look   at our time in Cartagena and how much it costs  by clicking on the next video right over here   yeah everybody
