The Quest 2 is AMAZING! (Unboxing & Impressions)

what is up guys gekko here and today we are unboxing the oculus quest 2 it's finally got here and i am so excited so let's just not waste any time and jump right into this okay so i'm just going to take off the seal right here what do we got oh that's very interesting okay look at that makes it so much easier you don't even need a knife just comes right off ah this feels and looks nice so this is the 256 gigabyte version let's check on the back it has some of the feature games that's going to be coming out similar to the oculus quest 2. so that was vader immortal sports scramble dead and berry 2 and here we got the new star wars game climb 2 jurassic world a bunch of fun stuff to look forward to i'll just slide this right off oh my goodness oh my goodness it's like the same type of cardboard it's still very sturdy very firm and has the oculus logo on it it's just not black or white so oh wait oh my goodness i may have misspoken this is still super nice ah okay the controllers oh my gosh this is weird they're so big this is actually huge like compared to the quest controllers oh my gosh let me go grab them look at that look at that difference much bigger than i thought i think this might even be bigger than the rift the rift controller this is actually huge so i'm going to be honest i really do think that this quest pad is bigger than the rift wow i was not expecting that [Music] very interesting so you have plenty of space to rest your thumb and get a good grip that is really interesting the rings do look like they are slightly smaller than the quest which is good which means you're not going to clank controllers as much they don't look maybe a little bit wider but not as tall which is probably for the best all right let's take a look at the quest itself the quest two so we have our little lens spacer right here awesome just gonna leave that in there actually okay here move the lenses left to right to find the clearest view so you physically have to grab the lenses in this oh my goodness okay so this is the huge deal that everyone's been talking about that is the ultimate compromise for the quest it is the head strap this is exactly that kind of fabric that you find on like a backpack kind of strap that's what you get so i'm glad i ordered the elite strap that will be coming in tomorrow hopefully and just jesus looks so clean oh my gosh again amazing amazing i'm so happy so there it is the quest ii it is definitely much more snubby is the best way i could describe it to the quest one let's go get that over here really quick actually definitely more snub not by a huge margin but definitely noticeable so in all dimensions the quest 2 just looks a little bit smaller and more compact i'm really interested to see how it's going to feel on my face when i'm wearing it especially after hours of play time so a lot of expectations and a lot of things i was not expecting very interesting so now let's quickly put on this quest to get it updated and just see how everything feels wearing the headset with its default strap and controllers and cover so let's just give this a quick try so immediately after logging in we are in a brand new environment that i have not seen before so here are some things that i'm noticing right off the bat while putting on the quest too first off lcd display is very noticeable at the start you almost have like a blue hue that goes around the corners of your screen when you're in a white based environment the cover that the headset comes with fits very well against your face and it feels really good the strap does a much better job than i anticipated and the screen looks beautiful it's very crisp very clean a very faint god ray at the edge of your screen however i'm not seeing any foveated rendering or if anything very minimal affiliated rendering the controllers feel good in my hand the colors still look very good despite it being an lcd screen when i put on the rift s the lcd was very noticeable there was a blue hue across everything but there's only a very minor blue hue and it looks very crisp and good so i'm curious to see how this is going to feel after hours of gameplay so let's jump right into it when you go and install some things god the pixelation is so minimal it's not even a pixelation anymore it's a grain that's how i can explain it it's like a mild film grain over everything oh okay i am getting some foveated rendering i am getting some of it yes i just noticed i'm curious if the foveated rendering is gonna alter from game to game so if some games need it it'll be there and if not see right now i'm not seeing too much very interesting vibration feels very nice it just looks amazing everything in general alright let's dip out all right so after a quick play test with the elite head strap and the vr cover i came to a really weird conclusion personally i am not sure if i think the elite strap is worth it the vr cover does fit a little bit nicer though however i'm not sure if it's just me having a poor misplacement but the little flaps right here that supposedly close out more light from your viewing experience often actually you're touching my nose and it's a little bit annoying and irritating that's another thing i'd like to note is the fact that there is not much of a nose gap to begin with with just a regular vr strap so i'm kind of conflicted i really liked the base model surprisingly but again up to you guys if you want to get the elite strap and the cover but the elite strap definitely does feel good it doesn't make you feel any worse or any better personally it kind of reminded me of wearing actually the original oculus quest strap if you do wear it incorrectly you have then have hard plastic pressing against your head which can be a little bit more uncomfortable rather than that kind of elastic feeling so yeah that is my unboxing and review of the oculus quest 2 base model again it's amazing what's inside the headset is doing wonders refresh rate processing it's all incredible all right thank you guys for watching and i'll catch you on next time [Music] i know the feelings
