Now God promised us
something, something new. In the Old Testament,
Isaiah prophesied about our day and age in Isaiah 41
about a new weapon. Look at this in Isaiah 41. “Behold, I have made you
a new, sharp threshing sledge” “with double edges;” Now these words “double edges” is from the Hebrew,
which means “double mouth”. “Double mouth”
or “piyphiyah”. “Double mouth”—from the
word “peh”—which means “your mouth”. “You will thresh the mountains
and pulverize them,” “And will make the
hills like chaff.” “You will winnow them,
and the wind will” “carry them away,” “And the storm will scatter them;
But you will rejoice in the Lord,” “You will glory in the
Holy One of Israel.” Now, it says that
God will give you a new and sharp
threshing instrument. We are about to see
this threshing sledge with “double mouth”. What does it mean? But with this weapon,
let's see what is the effect of this new threshing sledge. It says that: “You will
thresh the mountains”— “Mountains” are huge problems. Jesus talked about
mountains in Mark 11. It tells us: “Whosoever shall
say unto this mountain,” “Be thou removed, and
be thou cast into the sea;” It can be your sickness. It can be a condition
in your body. It can be depression. Whatever it is, Jesus says
that if it is a problem that looms large in front of you,
speak to it! Jesus says:
“Have the faith of God.” Speak to it! Say: “Be thou removed, and
be thou thrown into the sea;” And it shall do so. It shall be removed. And don't doubt in your heart. Believe that what you say
will happen and it will happen. And Jesus goes on to say: “Whatever you desire
when you pray, believe” “you receive them,
and you shall have them.” Now many of us know
this teaching. We know it and we have
spoken to the mountain. But what happens when
you speak and it seems like the mountain is not moving? Now I know that
some people will say: “Just keep on speaking.” Yes, we can do that. But God has other
weapons as well. Praise the Lord. Many a times, when something
doesn't seem to move, when something doesn't
seem to budge, that calls for something more. And I believe this
is the weapon because “You will thresh the mountains
and pulverize them,” “And will make the
hills like chaff.” All your problems will
become like chaff. How would you like
your problems, your sicknesses— the doctor says this
condition is incurable in the natural. How would you like
those problems to become like chaff, which the
wind drives away? First, let’s look at this
threshing sledge. This threshing sledge here
is what they use in the ancient times. They get the harvest,
whether it's wheat or barley, and they pile them up
in the center. But this is the sledge
that Israel used. This is how they
used it in those days. Again, there's a pile of wheat
or harvest that was just harvested and they
put it right in the center. And notice the man is
standing on the threshing sledge. So what they do is that
they take a portion of the harvested grain, and
they put it around in a circle, where the sledge would come. As the oxen pulls the sledge,
they will have children sitting or standing on the sledge,
so that there'll be pressure on the grain. And this pressure will separate
the chaff from the grain. Okay, got it? It will separate the chaff
from the grain because underneath this threshing sledge,
it's actually all these stones. Let me show you a picture. Let's go closer. Look at this. You have stones here. This is what they put underneath
the sledge—these stones. Okay? So when they
grind over the grain, it will separate the
chaff from the grain. Notice this is tedious work—
the man threshing— he goes round and round. Just go round and round. Sometimes as a pastor,
I feel like when I'm praying in the Spirit,
I like to do this. I just go around in my study. And I just go around
and around. I just go around. There's not exactly such
a big space for me but I feel like an ox going around. Just like this ox here! And I'm praying in tongues. That's my new threshing sledge. “Why pray in tongues, Pastor?” Because it says:
“having double mouth.” “Having double mouth.” Woah. “Having double mouth.” This is an amazing statement. The words “double mouth”. “I have made you a
new, sharp threshing sledge” “having double edges”? The word “edge” there
is “double mouth”. “Edge” is from the Hebrew word
“peh”—which is “mouth”. So as we pray in the Spirit,
we go around our mountain. We go around our mountain. Praise the Lord. You can do this the whole day. (praying in tongues)
Like how the children of Israel went around the
walls of Jericho, you go around your problem. Wherever you're going. Like in a circuit, you're
making progress like going up the spiral staircase. You're going higher when
you pray in the Spirit. For some conditions
where the doctor says, in the natural, might take
a long time for you to recover or is incurable,
you can just pray over it. “Lord, this is what
man says. They mean well.” “But the things that are
impossible with man” “are possible with God.”
The Bible says. “So I thank You.
Let Your Holy Spirit” “pray for my heart.
Pray for my lungs.” “Pray for my liver.” Just tell the Lord! The Lord knows. The Holy Spirit in you knows
how to make perfect prayers. And pray! Pray in the Spirit! Start praying in the Spirit! Now, I'm not saying it’s
going to be instantaneous. Most of the time, you find
when you pray in the Spirit, it's not like speaking to
the mountains straight away. When you speak to
the mountain, many a times, the mountain moves. We have prayed for people
and they instantly receive their manifestation. Whether it's shoulder pain,
they have an instant manifestation like in Mark 11:23. But praying in tongues usually
takes a protracted time. I’ll tell you what is happening. The Bible says: “He that prays in an unknown
tongue edifies himself.” Builds himself up. I love it. Now, we are taught that
when the Bible says: “When I pray in an unknown
tongue, my spirit prays.”? That's true, but it is a
wrong conclusion to say that because my spirit prays,
only my spirit is edified. That’s a wrong teaching,
a wrong perception that we have of this gift. When it says “edify himself”,
it is a total self— spirit, soul, and body. Yes, the prayer comes
from your spirit. “My spirit prays.” When you pray in tongues,
it's your spirit praying, uttered through
your vocal chords. It’s your spirit praying but
the benefit is total. “He that prays in an unknown
tongue edifies.” His spirit? No. “Himself”—his entire self. But I’ll tell you what happens. Sometimes, in the first few days
when you're praying in tongues over your situation—
let's say you've got a liver problem. You say: “God, Your Holy Spirit
knows how to pray this prayer.” “I do not know how to pray
as I ought but Your Spirit knows.” Romans 8:26. “So Lord, I just ask that
Your Spirit intercedes through me.” And you pray. And many a times, on
the first day or the second day, you might even have
some warfare going on. As you're praying in the Spirit,
don't give up. That's why
the Bible uses the word “perseverance”.
Keep on praying! And many a times,
what's happening is that there is a war going on
with the powers of darkness. Not with God! God is more willing and happy
for His people to enjoy all the benefits that Jesus
died to give you. Amen. So God is not the problem. Your warfare is in the arena
of the powers of darkness. Like Daniel. When he prayed, it took
21 days for the answer to come. And the angel brought the answer. Angel Gabriel says: “From the first day you prayed,
God heard your prayer.” “Your prayer was heard,
but there was a principality,” “an evil spirit that
stood in my way.” So there was a battle going on
and Daniel, on earth, kept on praying. So when you pray,
many a times, God starts from the inside. God starts from the inside,
strengthening you on the inside. So the Lord is strengthening
you on the inside first, long before the benefits
are manifested on the outside. It can take one day
or two days but keep on praying in the Spirit
and you will find such a strengthening on the inside. It's not a feeling. It's just a knowing that you are
being strengthened on the inside. I don't know how long
it will take. For each individual,
it could be different As you pray in the Spirit.
it could be one day or even a few hours. But usually, it takes some
time but don't give up. Then there comes a time,
when all of a sudden, you start feeling. In the first few days,
you might not feel it, but all of a sudden,
it touches your soul realm. Your soul is also where
your feelings and mind are. You will begin to see things. When you open up the Bible,
you will see things you never saw before. You will hear things. And your mind becomes
sharp and where there is a fog in your mind,
the mental fog is lifted. All of a sudden, there is
clarity in your thoughts. And you are able to elucidate
and express things that you find a bit hard,
in times past to express. And all of a sudden,
there's clarity and not only that, there's a tranquilizing effect
on your feelings. You’re more calm. There is poise. There is a tranquility. You come to a place of rest
and many a times, that’s the thing that is hindering our healing. We're not restful. Then I believe,
only until then, the manifestation will come
on your physical body. Amen. I feel like some of you are
watching this and you’re saying: “Pastor Prince, pray for me
that I may have this gift.” Or you might be saying: “Pastor, I want more of
the Holy Spirit.” Praise the name of Jesus. Let me pray for you. But let me say this first. Whenever people ask for
the gift of praying in tongues, the language of
praying in the Spirit, they always wait for
some power to overtake them. God doesn't do that. That, in fact is what an
evil spirit does to someone. The evil spirit takes over. But God will not take over. God wants cooperation. If you are being
led by the Spirit, what does it mean? If I lead my child
and my child refuses to follow, he cannot be led. It's a cooperation. It's like a dance. As you are dancing
and the Lord is hosting you in the dance,
when He leads, you follow! And ladies, this is what
submission is all about. Just follow the lead. And you can resist it
if you want. So the Lord wants cooperation. In other words,
when I pray for you, you got to demonstrate your faith by speaking. Don't let your mind tell you
it's just gibberish. Just speak it out! Those words are elevated discourse. The Bible tells us
it is elevated discourse. It is words that the Holy Spirit
is uttering before God. And He cannot utter
a useless word. He cannot utter
a non-powerful word. He cannot utter an idle word. He is uttering words that
are full of power and the Father appreciates them. It’s the sound that makes
all the trees to grow luscious and green. The leaf will not wither
and whatever you do will prosper. It is the sound of heaven. So believe that and
open your mouth by faith. So right now in Jesus’ name,
whoever you are right now, believe that when you ask for
the Holy Spirit, you will not receive any other spirit. Say: “Father in Jesus’ name,
I receive right now,” “the baptism of Your Holy Spirit.” “Evidenced by speaking
in heavenly language.” “In Jesus' name.” Now, friend, be
filled with the Holy Spirit right now in the
name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Now start praying in the Spirit. You open your mouth
and go like this. (praying in tongues) Yes go on, pray in the Spirit! (praying in tongues) God will never take you over. I'm praying. See, I can stop right now. I can start again. (praying in tongues) The Holy Spirit is
a wonderful person. He is a gentleman. He needs your cooperation. He will give you the words,
but you speak it out. (praying in tongues) Switch off your mind,
your logic area for a while, and let your spirit take over. Let your mind play
the subordinate role. Don't allow your mind
to dominate. When your mind dominates,
it gives you a lot of problems. (praying in tongues) Go on, pray in the Spirit! (praying in tongues) Now, sing in the Spirit. (singing in tongues) Beautiful! Praise the name of Jesus. Now you see, you can
start anytime you want. You can stop
anytime you want. You can increase your volume. When you're outside,
you can pray in undertones. Like muttering, meditating. (praying in tongues) As we learned just now, meditating is like muttering. (praying in tongues) But instead of the
book of the law, it is the words of the Spirit. (praying in tongues) And you will make
your way prosperous and you will have good success. This excerpt is brought to you
