[Music] hi we want to make sure that you know about our next chibok class which is happening on January 25th and you're gonna focus on yummy food that one might want to prepare around the Super Bowl don't miss it it's fun see you in the link below thank you hi I'm Dana's Wilston I'm an Esselstyn and our special guest today huh daddy I see dr. Esselstyn my dad and the reason we have him on today is he's sort of backed by popular demand about a year ago we did good morning good year one minute he's eating the thing that he at least twice a day I can't believe it yes but he's making his morning oats his evening oats his dessert let's go to but we're doing this video again today because I want to have another discussion about oats because oats are so key to this whole food plant-based movement and and health and his heart patients he has eat oats every day for many important reasons and so I was hoping that he would not only make his cereal but share with us some of those the principles behind having oats every day and every night in this case and even a smart kid so I think its genetic some of our kids actually have you know oats in the morning in some form or another but then at night oh they just have a couple you know raw oats with oat milk and all kinds of berries and fruit and stuff alright so you will you take it away or you want to make your well you haven't quite finished well no sometimes you put on raisins oh yeah we put every time and some blueberries well the exciting thing about my breakfast really quite what a great way to start today I mean I am such a great fan of protecting your endothelial cells and one of the ways you start out to protect your endothelial cells during the day is to have a breakfast like oats because oats are really quite famous for lowering cholesterol those responses that's why I have it sometimes to I said hey they are loaded with power no excuse me sometimes you have it we had this fabulous dinner and everybody's stuffed and he goes and makes a bowl of oats go huge dose-response nguy well coming back to breakfast imagine if you have a breakfast of bacon and eggs and butter and toast you are absolutely destroying your endothelial cells but if people do that every day starting at age eight nine ten what have you there's no great surprise that by the time you're in their 20s we know this from autopsy studies of young people between 17 and 34 who have died of accidents homicides and suicides early coronary artery disease is now ubiquitous not enough for their cardiac events yet but there it started so how does he get started because of the meals that they're taking to injure the ends within ourselves and so I've had oh it's got this wonderful flaxseed meal for the Mega three and then the more berries you get the more of this wonderful nutrients and fiber so I have blackberries blueberries strawberries yes he has as many berries as I will buy and they aren't always fresh so they're frozen works just as well and they're great the one thing I try and do is I try and buy strawberries organically so they're really the bottom line here is to get in the habit of really having a nutrient breakfast with plenty of calories and calories they're not going to injury which is so absolute absolutely key now when we were having to deal with patients who have cardiovascular disease and if they're really strictly following our program almost invariably they begin to lose weight and sometimes they don't want this to go too far and they if they call me and they say what can I do to get more calories without getting all the harmful fats the oils the meat the dairy at second since this is such an absolutely delicious meal sometimes any time between meals whether it's between meals in the morning or afternoon or an evening snack like I do you have the oat loaded with berries again and the flaxseed meal and the whole thing all over again you know lots of times that's you from night when you have your cereal you don't put berries on you put banana tube in is when you're not looking and this is the okk milk whether you can use unsweetened almond and soy but I I seem to use oat milk did you pour it on already No well let's pour it on give it a taste I mean no you taste it innumerable times but I think it'd be great just to have a please note he puts in a lot Hey not good I mean it's a lot that isn't that is a perfect amount they're so hot all right well we go through a lot of a lot of all of this actually well thank you so much sandy for joining us and I hope you guys can get oats into your day into your evening into your belly into your bloodstream you're cleaning your endothelial numerous times a day thank you sweetheart thank you and this is gonna probably end up being oats three times today because this is lunchtime convection heat this for lunch and they also he's had one for breakfast and there will be one more at dinner after dinner all right a Happy New Year bye-bye thank you [Music] you [Music]
