This was a surprise. I used 15mm thick Beech wood The first step was cut out holes, so that I could make the bed slats I had to cut a lot of holes... Used a jig to cut out some central portions of the wood to save weight Now we cut out the bed slats The bottom piece measures 1120 / 705 mm Of course, this has to all be smooth Really smooth. The bed foot and middle boards measure 1120 / 680 mm Here we have the side and middle walls, each 705/330 mm ...sanding is a lot of work... OK -- we're finally ready to begin putting it together The box drawer is custom-sized, I used 12mm birch It is very important to make sure the length fits in your car And that it is a perfectly square Drilling through wood helps make cleaner holes We're getting there!.. Get heavy duty drawer sliders, they need to support your wood box and everything inside of it One tip: don't get sawdust in your railings! (like I did...) Make sure it fits, then screw it down Last adjustments before screwing it in for good Make sure we are square This is called a "piano hinge" Here, we attach it to each side of a bar measured 1120/20mm And also onto the middle piece And then onto the top piece... Should fold out like this I screwed every other hole, so that the screw heads do not hit each other It is better to use flathead screws This is how the folding section should work Using another piano hinge to make a fold out table I made a small 45 degree triangle to support the table This ensures the table doesn't over-fold Perfect I used "teak oil" all over the box It's what they also use on ships This is what the *almost* final box looks like! By the way, plans (10eur) are now available in the description :) You can see here, I added a metal catch to catch the front plate One last thing to do... we don't want the front to over-fold either! I used some thin 3mm climbing line and a knot to hold the front up In it goes! Let's see if it fits... ...whew This plastic box also comes in quite handy The reveal!.. She likes it!
