[Music] thank you [Music] hello I'm thanks for joining us on our weekly political program coming to you live on Lagos television I am ajibola or Joshua it's over a week now that's presidentubu has been sworn in as the president of the federal republic of Nigeria and of course since it took over the mantle of leadership there have been so many issues on the front Bona that's what we'll be looking at on the program today but before we start our conversation tonight on the program we'll be taking a very short break to bring you in the policy stay with us thank you [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] [Music] we're still talking politics on the pendulum Community Live on Lagos television I did say earlier that we'll be assessing uh the presidency of Bola Ahmed tinubu in the last one week there have been so many issues on the front burner I don't want to mention them my guest will be doing all of that um I guess this evening is vice chairman ikorodu local government and it's also one of the prominent politicians here in Lagos it's a pleasure to have you good evening sir and congratulations once again on the victory of your party thank you sir okay uh critically let us says uh the presidency of uh president so far I think it's about a week or thereabout now uh what would you say uh caught your attention so far since it took over the mantle of leadership well first and foremost I want to thank um everybody that's participated in his emergence okay president um commander and chief of the federal republic of Nigeria I would say thus far he's doing well um a lot of issues quickly came onto the front burners you know the petroleum subsidy and all that and some will say that you know too early but I want to also plead that we should be patient and in the next few weeks definitely we will be glad that we've made that choice so far on the apartments the measures is taken you know I think on the long run or even in the short term are things that are going to quickly bring um ease let me let me use that word okay does he appear like somebody that is ready for this job definitely definitely I mean just yesterday we had the approval and the Senate of him saying at least 20. special advisors and obviously he didn't put any name but it's like these are so much needed right team at this time to push Nigeria forward you know so um he didn't wait until next week when we have it you know so he's definitely ready to move us forward and the appointments he's made so far if you look at the Quality Integrity of the people that he has chosen okay um I want to say that very good moves yes okay we have issues uh with the former administration of communication or engaging the people talking to them from time to time uh in terms of communication uh would you say that the present uh government is faring better than the previous one man says it all um who's going to be the I mean who is already the spokesperson okay is someone that is not a novice in the industry um then you have the essay media also you know young vibrant okay to take care of um digital media um then you had this Chief of Staff now who for us all years in thorough pedigree of someone that you know trusted over the years parliamentarian okay um then you talk about the sgf was a Senator Governor AK um Federal Minister I mean it couldn't get better because it's somebody that over the years also knows the system knows how things work and definitely um rampates in round hope okay looking at the politics behind the uh the behind those that will lead the 10th National Assembly we've been seeing engagements here and there and of course political permutations are saying that who is going to become what and of course the other party is trying to convince our elected members that okay this is the way the party wants to go but uh there are some deviants uh who are members of the party because of their personal ambition they are saying that no the party cannot dictate uh are you foreseeing a situation uh wearing uh the executive would not be able to have a symbiotic relationship with the legislative ham and how do you think this can be handled I wouldn't say that um I want to say that uh president an executive a parliamentarian obviously he's gone through the both processes before and this is democracy and when you talk about the tent assembly I think it's like one of the best brains coming forward and for me I don't anticipate any any problems at the end of the day we will still you know come to terms and put the best best food forward okay now the party has indicated their interest the house at the end of the day will determine what transpires there you can influence okay you can Lobby you can Lobby and that's just what we're seeing but I have so much trust in the tent assembly coming forward and I know that um Nigeria is definitely in beta steps because if indeed we want to enjoy the best of this government and uh the executive and the legislative arm must have a symbiotic relationship don't you think so so that we will not have a repeat of what happened during the era of saraki as a senator I I don't anticipate that I think between now and next week I think a lot of issues would have been sorted out this is like in-house yes we have other parties and other and that's why you've seen the um talks between the president with all the interests you know saying that everybody matters that that I I I dove my heart for the president okay um yes you can talk about your influence but he's saying if your interests is definitely Nigeria interest and it's better and whatever you know it is democracy so I know that it's going to be a win-win scenario for everyone okay uh we also aside from the field subsidy team which is the major news in the country as we speak insecurity is one of the major challenges facing the country we have seen these engagement with service G's and of course invested the office of the national special advisor are you hopeful that uh in terms of the challenges that we're facing uh regarding security that um there'll be a light at the end of the tunnel at the end of the day okay that's also one good thing the national special advisor is definitely a professional person now the meeting and all that that is had with all the the security teams is telling them that we're one thing okay no one you know to work against the other or trying to okay until all wins nobody wins and this is security we must communicate whatever you are doing you must let the other person know so that is the spirit the team spirit he's already putting in everyone that you know we're one big body we're working together we're not working against one another and so Nigeria first okay so and if you saw the enthusiasm in everyone that came out of that meeting I'm happy that you know I hope you know and pray that definitely will get it better this time okay once they come to some of the issues uh that uh have been raised uh since they took over the mountain of leadership you're still watching depending on Lagos television it was we're taking a very short break on the program at this moment to bring you the sun bite of the week stay with us [Music] thank you heritage and it is fundamental inherit the asset and liability of my predecessor we need to do some arithmetic and so such only minimum wage we will have to look at that we are digging deep into the revenue of Confederate we must strengthen the source and application of those forms where is this coming from if we think together and walk together Nigeria of our dream is not far away be sure we're not going to have the multiple exchange rate anymore thank you [Music] all right we're still talking politics on the pendulum this evening and of course the assessment of the presidency of president in the last one week or thereabouts I will discuss the removal of the field subsidy as meeting with security cheese and of course his visit to the National Security advisor as one of those issues on the front Bonner now uh he had equally had engagement with uh liberal leaders and that for me is a very sensitive issue when you connect it with this removal of failed subsidy how well do you think this matter should be handled because uh it's a very sensitive matter and Nigerians are looking up to their new president and how it's going to renew the hope that they promised them definitely relief is here okay um The Hope renewed is an agenda specially for the people are complaining no no the the the increase this is something here inherited okay a lot of people know that yes the subsidy was supposed to be in place but really we didn't have it you know it wasn't like the effects was being um felt in everybody's Pockets or in way of doing things and so for a lot of people they felt it was something that was like a baggage that had to go okay Beyond politics or all the partisan lines everybody knew that that definitely had to go and so um on the labor side who people believe that because they got their hands on into politics that their big you know partisan or whatever but I'm glad that at least this like today didn't take suspended suspended um to say that yes they're also trying to be understanding of the predicament of what is going on right yeah and any further crisis would hurt you know the people the Monk and the economy the more right now it's all about the economy and if you now look at all the things that are that the president has put in place now that okay now from now on you know cash on delivery if you're going to buy the products you have to that take your cash and I'm excited about the refineries that are actually now going to be all productive that our products are definitely um going to go to the refineries and so the refineries is giving them six months to put things in in order so those were the things that when putting a lot of load on on the on the and the country to where if we didn't have we'll go borrowing and so he said it wasn't sustainable we to be productive when we are productive then definitely cutting out the excesses and all that it will now add value and the welfare of the people cannot really be on the front no no the welfare Education Health um infrastructures all that to where we can say yes Nigeria occupying you know their place okay because the Nations we're talking about cutting out uh ecstasy exercises many will be looking up to uh the office of Mr President and of course uh how that office is going to also cut down on its spendings and excesses as well uh do you see this government doing that because when you look at the the luxurious life that that is always portrayed uh the presidential Villa one would expect that in as much as people are willing to give then those leading us as well let's also give something one key thing that the president that he is going to be based on competence competence character some form of prudence also because he said we have to redirect our energy to things that work to things that add value to where everybody can have a relieve and smile on their face so when you say that I'm definitely sure that is one of the things on his mind as well okay one thing that we have also noticed about this government is is a extension of hands of Fellowship to the opposition we have had the former Governor State River State Governor of the stadium likewise a PDP Chieftain from Delta State uh former Governor as well James ibori and of course uh the governor of your state what does that portray about this kind of politics well have going for us that I say to everyone is that it's Excellency president commander-in-chief of the federal republic of Nigeria is one of the most detribalized Nigerians if not the most that I know okay and in over the years has built relationships across you know all the four corners of this great country and so yes he's trying to say that campaign is over what is important now is the good governance the people the people first and so everybody must come together collaborate and make sure if you know you've got it then you're going to be included to making sure that you know the best brains come to Bear here in giving Nigeria okay okay does it matter if members of the opposition are equally given appointment well I wouldn't be surprised I expect some of them would also be given apartment but he has stated competence competence now yes the national Unity very important ah beyond all the barriers not because you're a Christian or a Muslim not because anything but because you're most qualified because you've got something to offer because you are the best that can be in that position and that is what is going to be his priority so you're very confident that uh the hope of Nigerians uh will be brightened at the end of the day definitely and and if you see even the appointments the first day yes you have the men you had the um the the men obviously the the older the middle and then the youth I mean the essay media okay so he's already saying everybody and even the women okay the office of the first lady obviously swung into action as well so it cuts across to where everybody is going to feel you know that they really really are important Nigerians now individually and collectively uh What uh do you expect uh for what do you expect us to do for this government so that um it will be successful at the end end of the day uh knowing full well that um as followers we have our own role and of course as Leaders they have their own role as well please first and foremost at citizen Nigeria be the best cooperate let's quit this condemning and everything because we are always here quick to condemn I was in a hurry always in a hurry let's be patient let's have this open mind like you know trust is also very important okay and know that whatever a little sacrifices here and there but whatever is being done is for a collective good at the end of the day what about the payment of our taxes because the government will surely need money I know that definitely is a must do for us all because we want everything but sometimes we don't want to give anything but it must all be that we know that every dollar every naira every cent matters to where we used to support the government as well to be able to carry through with all the um projects and all that that are being put in place all right I almost thank you very much uh foreign and of course she solicited for the support of Nigeria so that this new Administration will be successful at the end of the day it's going to be give and take government will give something and of course uh we as follows as followers rather would also give something so that our country will be better than it was uh before now find free on subsidies go but the government of the day is giving us the assurance that um is going to be better than it used to be and that all the actions been taken so far is in the best interest of the economy of the country we thank you very much for your time thank you sir thank you for having me that's the show this evening we thank you very much for watching we'll be back again on Saturday talking Politics as Usual on the pendulum my name is bye for now [Music] foreign [Music] [Music]
